Today we will be adding more strategy and an insurance policy against horrible luck (Turn one wall of fire anyone?) we introduce the Celestial Hourglass.
Expensive, limited, and purchasable with coins or wildstone, they are a rare and expensive artifact from the Prismatic plane. A champion lucky enough to acquire one will revive upon breaking their heart!
Also in this update:
New Item:
X-ray glasses. Always see the next card in each column. Extremely powerful!
New enemy traits:
Mirror, Exploding, Sapper
The Emperor fights back against stuns and just wants to chuck more bombs around!
Tuning:
Feygull will now heal less and damage more to avoid those occasional stalemates when he is stacked with defensive and healing traits.
More hotkeys:
1-6 will activate your spells
Escape can now be used to bring up settings menu.
Enter will end your turn.
Tooltips:
Hover over spells and card corruptions to get their description
Various bug fixes and optimizations.
Fast animations will now speed up the enemy card flipping over.
We hope you enjoy!
Balance Patch 1.0.6 is here!
Today our first balance update goes live, and I wanted to say a few words about the changes.
We looked at spell power using a new formula that weighs energy rewards much higher than other considerations, and found some definite imbalances. Originally we thought things like removing a column should be weighed as more powerful as less options can be tougher to sequence. But clearly energy return is a much bigger deal, and everything is so situational it is a bad idea to build assumptions like that into the formula. Also we designed orange to be objectively stronger since its 100% dedicated to attack, but probably went too far in that direction.
Thanks to everyone who brought this stuff to our attention and debated it so reasonably on the boards. Check the patch notes for details!
We looked at class balance and especially the Wizard/Rogue. The Zap line is now exclusive to the Wizard and considerably cheaper and more powerful. Also, Nimble Slash costs one energy more. Rogue is still very, very strong but the frequency of things like clearing the whole board in one shot with prime abilities will be a bit lower now. To extend their attacks a bit further we added a powerful Rogue version of impale called Swift Strike that rewards 2 agility, and a Wizard cleave called Magic Disk that rewards x2 willpower.
Late game, not being able to use more than 4 items can be a bit of a bummer, so we now have 2 extra slots unlockable which should add some more fun combining up to 6 magic items!
Finally, Wildstone. The end of journey rewards were designed to be more and more rewarding the further you got, but the end result was it feeling more and more crushing the earlier you lose. That is a buzzkill, especially for new players. Lesson learned. So there is no longer a curve. Wildstone will feel more generous early on as a result.
Keep the feedback and community content coming, and enjoy the update!
"Speed Option" Added in Patch 1.0.5
We've just updated the game to 1.0.5, adding the much-requested "Speed Option" that reduces the amount of time you wait for an animation to finish. In the settings screen, there's a new checkbox labeled "Fast Animation" that eliminates delays between animations.
Not every animation was streamlined in this manner yet (the projectile from the enemy's attack, for example, still travels the same speed) so we'll be tuning and streamlining more animations in the coming weeks. If you have any feedback on this new feature, please post in the discussion thread.
Changes
Added "Fast Animations" option to the settings screen that removes delays between most core gameplay animation.
Spells are now stocked in the shop after defeating the first enemy.
Equiping Items and Spells is easier.
All transitions are now fade-to-black (the white was too jarring, especially when playing at night).
Hotfix! 1.0.4.1 is Live
Coming in hot!
We've just fixed a bug where defeating Emperor Stuck wouldn't grant you the proper amount of Wildstone. Thankfully, anyone affected by this issue will automatically receive the Wildstone they missed out on when updating to 1.0.4.1.
Patch 1.0.4 is Live
Hi all!
We've just pushed a new patch to fix a few rare cases where players could get stuck during the Emperor fight or if they closed the game at the wrong time. A few other bug fixes snuck in there as well.
As we get closer and closer to a very small bug list, we'll be working on some of the most requested features in the very near future. Expect a more substantial update next week!
Changes
Columns with card corruptions will no longer be targeted by the sticky hand lock.
Columns locked with the sticky hand will remove any card corruption on the front card.
Reversal, Cosmic Inversion, and Block are now handled in that order (previously was whichever spell was used first).
Fixes
Energy is now properly awarded when using Pierce or Impale to remove a card that has a beard, ice, or armor corruption.
Players can no longer get stuck if quitting before collecting the match rewards.
Players cannot buy an empty item for 0 gold in the shop.
All buttons are now hidden on the deck progress panel when defeating Emperor Stuck.
Fixed the alignment of Block's visual effect to line up with the shield.
Patch 1.0.3 is Live for Win/Mac
Hey all,
We just pushed out a new update with a couple fixes. Also...Finally! The Mac build is clear of issues when running the game in a fullscreen or borderless window resolution.
Fixes
Regeneration card corruption will expire when a column reaches 12 cards.
Player spells will no longer go above a cost of 10.
Mac version now handles changing resolutions much more gracefully.
Mac version now has all the previous patch fixes.
Thanks to everyone who has been sending us bug reports and support emails! We hope this is the last of the critical bug fix patches and we can share more with you about our upcoming balance and improvement patch in the near future.
Patch 1.0.2 is Live
Greetings everyone!
We've just pushed out a new patch for Windows that addresses a couple bugs and adds a new video option. Mac users...we're sorry this one is Windows only for now! A last-minute issue was found during testing the prevented us from uploading the proper build. Rest assured, the Mac patch is on deck and will be uploaded as soon as we can nail down (once and for all) the full-screen resolution bug.
The feedback on the forums has been great to read through and hearing your thoughts around the game's strategy and balance has given us a lot to consider for our first balance patch in the coming weeks. We'll share more specifics as we build and test the next few days.
Fixes
Added Video Quality slider to the settings screen. You can now select between a few options to either speed up the framerate, or max out the engine's render settings.
Fixed a bug where the player could still use spells while stunned (I was hoping no one figured this out, but I was too late!)
When run for the first time, the game will now select the primary display's native resolution as the default resolution for fullscreen and borderless mode.
Thanks everyone! Please continue to post your feedback in the discussion forums. We're following all the discussion and it's been giving us some great ideas on improvements in the coming weeks.
