Hotfix Update 1.0g2

Greetings, Void Hunters!

We have just released Hotfix Update 1.0g2, which solves a bunch of the issues reported over the last few days! This update would not be possible without your support and feedback, so thank you for helping us make the game as smooth as it can be!

General changes:

  • Minor change to Vsync option in graphics settings: Due to an error in our migration process for some users, Vsync was automatically disabled. With this hotfix update, it will be enabled again by default, so if you would like it turned off, please change the setting in the Graphic settings menu. You will now have another option which allows you to set any FPS cap you like with a slider for full flexibility;
  • Fixed an issue where Warcry (Barbarian Artifact Power) would grant buffs but not cause damage on enemies, being a lot less effective than intended;
  • Considerably reduced the effective health and area of effect of Shadow Lords of the Void;
  • Corrupted Void Hunter bosses have had their areas reduced, either with smaller size, longer cooldown or in general would use less of the arena;
  • Reduced effective health of the Void King, especially in the last stage of the fight;
  • Fixed an issue where certain Corrupted Void Hunter skills would be affected by the visibility slider, becoming hard to see if visibility was set too low;
  • Fixed an issue where ascensions and other objects could spawn inside the Void King in phase 1 of the fight, making them impossible to interact with until phase 1 was over;
  • Fixed an issue where on a Gamepad it would not be possible to change the difficulty of the Unholy Cathedral’s last ritual;
  • Fixed an issue where using Mouse movement + dashing could cause small step-backs in the wrong direction;
  • Gunpowder is now affected by runes that reduce the amount of Ammunition required per proc;
  • Fixed an issue where a couple of Samurai’s Ascension power ups did not have a pick-up limit, which should be limited to 5;
  • Fixed an issue where Lords of the Void could spawn in a very weird place in the Caves of Dhal Zhog;
  • Fixed an issue where there would be an unintended delay before Mh’thaeus fight in the Unholy Cathedral, causing a few issues with ascensions;
  • Fixed an issue where in lower resolutions it would not be possible to filter the Profile screens by character;
  • Fixed an issue where the Monkey King model would become… wonky with certain skills;
  • Fixed an issue where the visuals of certain locked characters would display incorrectly, with a big black square;
  • Fixed multiple localization issues across the game (International subtitles are still being worked on and will be here soon!);
  • Fixed an issue where in extreme late game scenarios certain projectiles would not hit enemies properly, causing less damage than intended;
  • Changed Ammo Box visuals to be less intrusive;
  • Fixed an issue where skills such as “Shredding Armor” (chance to gain a certain buff over the duration) would not properly count when they give you the buff. This is relevant if you have power ups such as Huntress Snare, from Aruanak, which launches a skill when a certain number of stacks of Aptitude is applied;
  • Changed the visuals of Dragonflight so that the actual dragon is more noticeable (but still affected by the visibility slider);
  • Fixed scenario objects not properly dissolving when destroyed;

PS: International localization for subtitles is still coming! We are almost there and will make another hotfix update as soon as they are available!

We hope you are enjoying the full release, and keep an eye out, for we have not uncovered everything that hides in the void just yet...

Soulstone Survivors 1.0 Release - The Void King

Greetings, Void Hunters!

The day has finally come… Soulstone Survivors is now officially out of Early Access, along with a HUGE release update! We’ve prepared a special trailer for the occasion:

This update brings new characters, skills, artifact powers, and of course… new lore with full voice over support across the game! If you'd like a quick overview of the key points coming in this update, check out our video below:

Lore, The Voices of the Void and the Void King

To bring context to the world and the mission and culture of the Void Hunters, we are introducing a new introduction experience, along with over 2500 voice lines spread across the game to bring personality to each hunter.

This is more than just an introduction as this new content introduces 7 new bosses, new unique powers, a new map, the Netherworld, and the final chapter where you will face off against the Void King himself!

Important note: Unfortunately subtitles are not fully localized yet and will appear in English regardless of the chosen language. These are activelly being worked on and will be ready in the coming weeks, we apologise for the inconvenience and will get them in the game as soon as possible!

Titan Hunt - Part 2

This update brings the conclusion to the Titan Hunt chapter within the game, where you will finally learn what you can use Titan Blood for, face new challenges and learn new, unique powers.

New Character: The Machinist

Having mastered the ways of the Soulstones, the Machinist uses his brilliance to create powerful machinery harvesting the energy from these unstable crystals. With his battle armor he specializes in focused beams of energy to destroy powerful foes and large area damage to cut through waves of enemies.

His weapons bring a set of new powers into the game, and with his ascension he’s able to harvest charged soulstones to awaken the Machine Spirit, launching a devasting blast!

New Character: The Samurai

After decades of discipline and training, the Samurai has learned not only how to fight his demons, but control them to unleash chaos upon his enemies. Like his predecessors, he is one with the blade, but he unites the old and the new, being capable of unleashing powerful strikes channelling elemental powers against his foes.

Each of his Katanas is designed for different combat techniques, and when all hope is lost, the Samurai may materialize his own rage to decimate any that stands in his way.

New Artifact Powers

This update also brings the artifact powers for all remaining 12 characters! Upgrade your weapons to the Artifact rarity and gain access to these powerful skills that compliment the playstyles of each character and offer another way to enhance your builds to the next level!

General changes:

  • (Finally) Added option to toggle all curses in a tier with a single button;
  • Added functionality for Mouse Only mode to always follow the cursor (can be toggled in the options menu);
  • Added option to Mouse-Only mode for your character to always move towards your cursor (without the need for clicking to move);
  • Added small lore descriptions to each game mode;
  • Considerably increased the amount of prestige and minerals earned in the Titan Hunt;
  • Titans now drop up to 20 legendary void essences when defeated, if playing on a high enough difficulty level;
  • Radiance, Electric and Icy Veins now require considerably less stacks to be used;
  • Your health is now automatically recovered when you open the door to a Titan;
  • Titan Hunt difficulties and blood levels now have lower scaling for enemy damage, attack speed and movement speed;
  • Fixed an issue where Aruanak (Titan) had an attack causing damage in a large area, causing invisible damage;
  • Allaxis now spawns less grenades with his special attack;
  • Fixed a rare issue where a character could become “locked” again due to save inconsistencies;
  • Fixed an issue where at times, special portals would not appear (from completing special events);
  • Fixed an issue where soulstones that were not manually collected in the Titan Hunt would not work properly with the Material Harvest rune, yielding less materials than intended;
  • Fixed a rare issue where Doom would attempt to execute a target, but not cause the expected damage;
  • Treasure Bug will not longer appear in the Void Fields, only in the Titan Hunt;
  • Fixed an issue where the Hound Master’s ascension could show inconsistent numbers for the level of your dogs;
  • Fixed an issue where the minimap would not update when fighting in the second stage of the Unholy Cathedral;
  • Fixed an issue with some fonts for Polish and Turkish versions;
  • Fixed an issue with Appearances UI scroll list;
  • Fixed a graphical issue in certain graphics cards and platforms that would cause visual effects to glitch weirdly;
  • Fixed an issue where the minimap would appear if you unpaused the game during a level up screen;
  • Multiple minor UI fixes and improvements across the game;

Through the Dawnstone, we ascend!

It’s still hard to believe we are finally here. Working on Soulstone Survivors so far has been a journey like no other, a once in a lifetime experience that I cannot believe how lucky I am to have had, and I can say from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! There is still much to come to the game, the new legendary weapons, new bosses and maps for the Titan Hunt, and even new secrets… but we could not be happier with the game that we, us from Game Smithing and YOU, the community, have built together.

We wouldn’t be here without your support, and know that every message, every interaction, every feedback we got has really made a difference, has kept us going, has shown us the way forward, and we can only hope that you will love the game, as much as we loved making it! (so far!) Until the next one Void Hunters!

Devlog #19 - Lore, Voices of the Void & The King!

Greetings, Void Hunters!

[p][/p][p]The Void echoes as we unveil major additions to the game in Devlog #19! Coming with the full release, we're adding a new experience to the game that introduces the world and the plot of the game, along with new life into every void hunter with all-new voice acting, and unleashing our most terrifying foe yet: The Void King. Sharpen your blades and ready your ears—let's dive in![/p][p][/p]

Through the darkness, we rise!

[p]First steps matter.[/p][p]We've transformed the early game with a brand new introduction chapter, that starts within the Void Hunters' Stronghold — a living, breathing introduction to our world. You will find out what the Void Hunters seek to accomplish and how all the parts of the game finally fit together into one campaign. [/p][p][/p][p]You will learn more about the Void Hunters, their Stronghold and what they seek to achieve, in order to protect the Dawnstone, the light that must never fade. [/p][p][/p][p]As the game unfolds and you unlock new characters, you will learn more about the world, their mission and the personality of each Void Hunter, with over 2500 new voice lines spread across the game. [/p][p][/p][p]With the release update, part 2 of the Titan Hunt is now in place, and you will finally learn what Titan Blood can be used for. Be ready to face off against 7 new bosses, and prepare yourself, for the Void King awaits![/p][p][/p]

Voices of the Void: Hunters Find Their Voice

[p]Hear them roar, whisper, and taunt!

As you might have heard from the Void Hunter’s Stronghold, every character now has their own unique voice lines, from battle cries to past laments. We collaborated with 12 incredible voice actors to capture each void hunter’s essence.[/p][p]This is something we always wanted to add to the game, and while it took months of planning and writing and reviewing… hearing the characters in-game for the first time felt like magic to us, and we can only hope you will enjoy it as much as we do![/p][p][/p]

Brand new soundtracks

[p]With everything that is coming to the game with the full release, we obviously needed new epic music to accompany it. Gama, our sound designer has been hard at work tinkering with a brand new OST for it. Have a listen at the vibe he’s going for: [/p][p][/p]

Closing Thoughts: The Calm Before the Storm

[p]These additions finally lay the last pieces of the foundation for 1.0's imminent launch. It has truly been an incredible journey so far. The game has changed so much since its first playable version that it feels a bit crazy, and we are preparing a little bit of a nostalgia trip to show you just how much the game has changed over time! So stay tunned to our socials for that!

Also important to note that version 1.0 is not the end for Soulstone Survivors. We truly want to continue working on the game for as long as we possibly can and this is made possible by YOUR continued love and support, so a most heartfelt THANK YOU!

Farewell, for now... Good luck out there, void hunters.

Devlog #18 - The Samurai Rises: A Community's Legacy & New Artifact Powers

Greetings, Void Hunters!

[p][/p][p]Three years ago, you spoke—and the Void listened. Devlog #18 unveils one of the two new characters coming with the full release. This is a very special one, as it was chosen by you, the community, in one of our Discord community events, as the most voted character to join the ranks of the Void Hunters… The Samurai![/p][p][/p][p]Alongside this long-awaited Void Hunter, you will also gain access to ALL remaining Artifact Powers for all weapons and characters, and today we will show you a little glimpse of a couple new ones you can expect! Let’s dive in![/p][p][/p]

The Samurai: Forged by the Community

[p]This one’s for YOU.[/p][p][/p][p]Back in 2022, hundreds of you voted to bring this disciplined warrior into our world—a tribute to the passion that shapes Soulstone Survivors. While it’s been a while since we last had one of these community events, the Samurai stands as a timeless testament to your voice. Sharp, swift, fiery and sometimes ghostly, he’s finally unsheathing his katanas![/p][p][/p]

New Skills and Trait: A master of blades

[p]As usual, The Samurai is also coming with 3 new character specific skills and 8 brand new weapon skills. His playstyle resolves around slicing, cutting, stabbing and sometimes cursing his enemies with a new negative effect, Condemned, which is consumed by critical strikes to drastically amplify the damage caused![/p][p][/p]

Ascension: Cursed Shrine

[p]We have envisioned the Samurai as a character that is both very good with blades but also spiritual, maintaining a certain connection to the ghostly realms of the occult, being able to tap into the manifestation of his own rage spirit to fight for him. Check it out![/p][p][/p][p]Cursed Shrine in action[/p]

New Artifact Powers highlight: Death Knight & Engineer

[p]The release update will bring a ton of new content to the game, including all remaining Artifact Powers for all characters and weapons in the game! So today we wanted to show you a couple of cool new artifact powers you can expect to see soon.[/p][p][/p][p]First, a little glimpse at the Death Knight’s Dragonflight, calling in an ancient bone dragon to lay waste to enemies in a line, leaving a powerful damaging area in its wake:[/p][p]The Engineer is also joining the party, with his new Plasma Sentry, which pours flame into nearby enemies causing massive damage and debuffing them with different effects:[/p][p]Can you guess what the Artifact Powers will be for the other remaining characters??[/p][p][/p]

Closing Thoughts: Legacy & Future

[p]The Samurai is more than a character—he’s a monument to your impact on this journey. Though community votes are paused, your feedback still guides us daily. The Samurai is cool and all but who do you think this other shadowy figure could be?…[/p][p][/p][p]There is still a lot we haven't talked about coming to the game, and if you are curious… you might want to follow the game to check out our devlog next week… we will show another little sneak peek of something pretty cool we have been working on for months! As always thank you for your amazing support and we hope you are excited as we are for the full release![/p][p][/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/42629950/0613ae8b16cc071c726ac24a6c6e0f9156b2c8a2.gif"][TAG-102]~ The Soulstone Team[/p]

Devlog #17 - Crafting the New Key Art – Sketches, Stories & Soulstones

Greetings, Void Hunters!

We’re thrilled to pull back the curtain and show you how our new Key Art came to life—from early concepts to the final result! We asked Raphael Massarani, the amazing artist behind the scenes (check out his artstation here, its incredible) to share how he approached the creation of this image, so grab a coffee, and let’s dive into the creative journey with the artist’s own words!

Phase 1: The Birth of Three Concepts

To get started, Raphael explains:
I usually begin by working on sketches that closely reflect my intentions for the final composition, story, and overall lighting. Sketch A features a heroic Pyromancer holding a Soulstone, confident in her victory as she blasts her enemies away. Sketch B showcases different Void Hunters, alluding to the game’s massive roster of playable characters and intense combat! Sketch C features Arcane Weaver on her journey to face a menacing challenge head-on—a boss rush, if you will.

KeyArt_SketchA.jpg

KeyArt_SketchB.jpg

KeyArt_SketchC.jpg

As you can see, I sometimes like to contain the focal point of my images within a simple geometric shape. This helps me guide the viewer’s eyes and keep the story engaging.

Phase 2: Exploration and Refinements

On early experiments:
We gave Sketch C a go first, posing Arcane Weaver facing toward us and adding secondary enemies alongside the bosses. While it could’ve been interesting, it felt too busy for a Key Art.

Back to the drawing board! Sketch A had great qualities, so I revamped it with a new composition and a second pass featuring the Arcane Weaver. The new version looked cool, but it leaned too close to ‘splash art.’ Ultimately, we chose version B—as it nailed the chaotic energy of the game.

Phase 3: The Color Crucible

On finding the perfect palette:

Again we started experimenting with a few color options. Option E felt right—it complements Arcane Weaver’s spells, her color scheme, and the Soulstones’ role in the story.

Phase 4: The Final Polish

On refinement:

Once composition, lighting, and colors were locked, it was time to refine, adjust, tweak, and polish. It’s my comfort zone, but it still takes ages!

Closing Thoughts from the Artist

Hope you love the new Key Art as much as I enjoyed working on it! Thanks to Game Smithing for the awesome opportunity :D

We hope you found his process as interesting as we did, and while we have been a bit quiet over the last few weeks, keep an eye out as there are a few spicy sneak peeks coming soon… for example… where do you think this door leads to?? Let us know in the comments!

As mentioned in our previous announcement (that you can find here), we have just increased the base price of Soulstone Survivors from $9.99 to $14.99 (and similar changes for all localized prices), in preparation for our full release on June 17th.

This change reflects how much the game has already grown throughout Early Access — and there’s still more to come! We’re hard at work getting everything ready for launch, which will come with another HUGE update, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next, including what comes post release!

The Titan Hunt - Hotfix 4

Greetings, Void Hunters!

We have just released Hotfix 4 for Update 16: The Titan Hunt! This is the smallest hotfix so far however the most important! In short, we have one change:

- After a lot of time testing and trying to reproduce, we found a rare issue that could lead to crashes in the game, especially related to the collection and spawning of XP crystals.

Not all players would experience this issue before, but if you were running into crashes with the game, please make sure to try version 16c5 (you can check in the top left corner of your screen), and if the issue persists for you, please do let us know!

We really appreciate your patience and we hope that this tiny update will make your experience smoother! Enjoy the hunt!

The Titan Hunt - Hotfix 3

Greetings, Void Hunters!

Hotfix 3 for Update 16: The Titan Hunt is now live! Once again thanks to your help and feedback we identified and solve another batch of issues big and small with the new content added to the game! Here's a list of all thats changed in this update:

General fixes and improvements:

  • Spider Cocoon reworked: the cocoon explosion now deals damage and applies Weakness, but summons only a single explosive spiderling that applies Bleed once its duration ends. Spiderlings are now capped at 14 active simultaneously, but will count as regular summons, giving you benefits for skills that scale off of quantity of summons, for example. Damage has also been considerably increased to compensate for the change;
  • Fixed an issue where the Egg Hunt special event would not work as intended when completed, possibly leading to a black screen when entering the portal;
  • Fixed Volcanic Eruption, Volcanic Effigy and Fiery Blades that, when combined with Radiance, would cause the game to break;
  • Fixed an issue where the Player icon would disappear from the minimap;
  • Fixed an issue where the Sentinel's ascension would not work properly when using the Corrupted skin;
  • Fixed an issue wher Bloody Saw would not cause damage in the area it was supposed to;
  • Fixed an issue where Skill Affinity runes could be triggered twice in Titan Hunt mode;
  • Fixed an issue where the Home portal would appear too early, possibly causing it to not work;
  • Fixed an issue where multiple UI elements would not become invisible during boss presentations;
  • Fixed an issue where the ending screen would show the incorrect Sigil information in the Titan Hunt;
  • Fixed an issue where Aruanak's attacks (Spider titan) would become invisible with very low effect visibility settings;
  • Fixed an issue where the character art would not be displayed properly in the Profile screen;
  • Fixed multiple minor issues that would cause log spam in the background, which could cause performance issues;

We continue working on your feedback and if you run into any issues with this update please do let us know! There are still a few errors we are chasing but we hope that this update will make your overall experience considerably smoother! As always we wanted to thank you for your amazing support, and we hope you are enjoying the Titan Hunt!
