Sovereignty: Crown of Kings

Sovereignty - Removal from sale and discontinued support

In a few days it won't be possible to purchase Sovereignty anymore.

Unfortunately, we are forced to cease support for the game as the developer studio which first created the game has ceased its activities and won't continue supporting the game.

Whoever has bought Sovereignty in the past will still retain it in their library and will be able to download and install it with its latest version.

Intel graphics card support and AI upgrade (Beta Branch)

We have some fairly big changes in this latest beta branch update. We would like to push this to the main branch rapdly, and thus we are asking for some feedback and confirmation that it is working well for everyone.

If you have already opted in to the public beta, you will get the update automatically.

Biggest higlight is that Sovereignty can now be played by users with Intel cards.

Full list of changes:

Fixed bug causing map to appear all-black on Intel graphics hardware
Fixed bug preventing AIs from forming alliances
Fixed bug causing AI to abandon occupied provinces when there is no threat

Patch 1.1 Progress Update

Since it has been some time since the last patch went live, we are posting this progress update to let you all know that we are still working on the next patch, and what sort of things to expect from it.

The patch will of course include bug fixes - a more stable and playable game experience in general, there will be new things for your Agents to do, and the biggest things is that we will be improving the AI to provide a more fun and challenging game.

So far, we are about 50% done with the changes and improvements. Details of what we are doing in each area are below:

Agents: Incite Rebellion

Your Agents will now be able to Incite Rebellion in another Realm - Agents on this mission will move from province to province, spreading lies and discord as they go - each province affected will have an increased chance to have Rebels spawn in it each turn.

Agents: Counter-Spy

Any Agent left at home doing nothing will now engage in Counter-Spying activities in your realm. This means that for every Agent you leave at home, there is a chance for them to uncover any Agents belonging to other realms operating inside your borders - if an Agent is disvocered, they will flee back to their home, and you will have the option to apply a diplomatic penalty.

AI: Resources and Gold

The AI will be better at managing its resources and gold stockpiles - It will allocate funds to various activities to avoid running out of money for certain things. It will also be better at making use of the marketplace (which is also being improved and fixed) and trading for the resources it needs.

AI: Units

The AI will be better at choosing units to purchase - no longer spamming the cheapest unit all the time. It will also be better at organising it's units into armies and making use of them.

AI: Espionage

The AI will make proper use of it's Agents, sending them on covert missions (where practical, some realms only have a single Agent). It will also use the new Counter-Spy and Incite Rebellion missions detailed above.

AI: Personality

The AI will be getting more personality - expect the Iron Barony AI to be an aggressive warmonger, while Crivia will use Agents to meddle in the affairs of others. These changes will add a lot more fun and believability to the world of Sovereignty.

AI: War

The AI will be getting a new approach to how it decides who (and when) to go to war with, this will be partly connected to the addition of more personality, so that ancient blood fueds will actually play a part in how the game unfolds. The AI will also be getting improvements in how it carries out wars. It will have specific targets and goals for each war which it will attempt to carry out.

Patch Roadmap

We gotten a lot of great feedback and we are working to update fixes and improvements asap.

To keep you up to date on immediate plans for the future.

1) Our immediate attention is being directed to crashes, bugs, and so many of the one-off suggestions that have appeared in these forums. In short, our immediate focus will be on stability and miscellaneous gameplay issues. During this period, we will be using the beta branch to rapidly push patches. Basically, the beta branch will be used as the "most recent update" and then we will push that to the main branch, as the "vetted version." I'm guessing this phase will be a few patches, based on future unknown feedback.

2) Once we get in a good place there, we will be shifting focus to an AI overhaul. The focus here will be twofold. First, is the global AI. There are areas in which the AI is not making reasonable decisions. If you think the AI is making a "dumb decision," that's where the focus will be. We invite you to compile a list of "dumb decisions," which will help us isolate and address problem areas within the AI. The second part of the AI overhaul will be individualized AI. We want to bring out more of each realm's personality, according to its unique lore. Each realm has its own motivations, fears and ambitions. We want each realm's personality to influence decisions more.

During the AI overhaul phase, we will shift the role of the beta branch to something much closer to a live beta. We will be introducing an entirely new system, and looking to the beta branch as a playground to test the new AI before introducing it to the main branch.

Last, we'd like to thank everyone for sticking through some of the instabilities we've experienced of late. And we thank so many of you for your tremendous feedback that will go straight into this game. This is your game.

Good Hunting!

Sovereignty is out!

The 4x fantasy game Sovereignty has finally clawed its way out of the clutches of Early Access into the gaming universe.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51Mmo6sOgqs

Sovereignty brings the 4X concept to a fantasy world. Mixing grand strategy, where resource management, diplomacy, and military aspects are key to progress and turn-based battles, where players are confronted with tactical issues.

The game features a bevy of different races and cultures, including Giants, Orcs, Humans, Dwarves, Elves and even chaotic evil factions. The game also includes a diplomacy, trade, recruitment and magic system that really fleshes out the existing concepts.

Although not an RPG, it makes use of the Good/Evil system present in many of these games. Some countries will be good, focused on chivalry and the betterment of society as a whole. Others, such as the dark and deeply occult wizards of Maledor, or the vicious Khazoth Orcs will have only plunder and destruction on their minds, falling into the Chaotic Evil category. With over 35 unique factions, you'll surely find what you're looking for in this gem of a game.
