Space Fighters

Price Decrease!

Space Fighters was my first indie-game on Steam, it was about seven months ago when I first released Space Fighters and boy, it was one hell of an adventure and an excellent learning experience.

Due to some time having passed since Space Fighters release, and Space Fighters gathering virtual dust on virtual hard-drives, I have made the decision to drop it's price from $4.99 to $1.99 dollars!

I hope this will bring back a little recognition to Space Fighters and make it easier to further play and enjoy this game!

Weeklong Sale!

I am happy to announce that starting from today, the first of October until the 8th of October, Space Fighters will take part in the week long Steam sale!

For the duration of the sale, Space Fighters will be 30% off.

See you out there on the galactic battlefield!

Discussing Update 1.0 and Future Games

Hello, community of Space Fighters!

Update version 1.0 of Space Fighters is officially out in the wild! With version 1.0 comes a massive overhaul of improvements, changes, and redesigns to the game. Let’s review some of the biggest changes included in update 1.0!

To celebrate update 1.0, Starting from the 7th of July, I have made sure to include a 60% discount which will last for 5 days!

Every UI element in the game has been redesigned and remade from scratch, attributing to a completely new game feel

While I was hard at working rewriting the entire game from scratch, I decided to also take the opportunity to redo the entire game UI which now includes fancy blur background effects, and is more intuitive.

The skybox has been changed with a more flashy, cool looking one

Completely rewritten and rethought every clientside & networking code in the game. This is a big deal because now it will be easier for me to make the appropriate changes where needed and to add or remove new features

The pre-update 1.0 both clientside and networking code was terrible, not up to scratch, and not in accordance with regular Unity and C# convention. This time when I rewrote the entire game from scratch, I made sure to do it differently.

Post-update 1.0 code is more efficient, elegant, easier to read and change, up-to-date with Unity and C# conventions, and most importantly, more optimized.

Every single achievement icon has been redone with a more high-quality image and background - as well as brand new achievements being introduced to Space Fighters

The previous versus new 'A Real Team Member' achievement icon

I took a look at the previous achievement icons and noticed various things that needed changing. For instance: not all of the icons had the same theme, some icons had low quality images, others had text that was hard to read, etc.

So I simply redid every achievement icon, and viola!

New game translation files

The English language translation file has been updated as of this update, so all past translations for other languages won’t be used anymore for this update.

If you wish to help translate Space Fighters from English to your own language, read this announcement

But why the big, sudden update so late after everyone has moved on from the game?

Even if Space Fighters wasn't a major hit success, Space Fighters still holds a special place for me because it is my first game on Steam. Although I do look at the playerbase and game purchases and activations graphs and see an obvious fall, I still choose to keep working, and in this case remaking from scratch Space Fighters because I believe Space Fighters still has a chance to get the recognition I think it deserves.

Even if this massive overhaul update brings no new players to the game, and I really have just wasted a month working on update 1.0 which no one would play - that would be fine with me too because I don't see it as a month wasted, I see it as a month hard at working gaining further experience and knowledge to be used in future, upcoming games.

Future, upcoming games you say?

Yep! I already have my ideas about the next game which I will begin working on after I completely finish with update 1.0.

I would like to keep the game a little secret, but I can say it will be free to play, multiplayer as well as singleplayer, and likewise with Space Fighters it will be set in space.

My hope is that releasing this future, free to play game will help to get my name more known out there in the video game making business.

Complete changelist

  • Redid every UI element
  • Redid the icons of every achievement in the game, as well as added tons of brand new achievements
  • Rewrote every clientside/networking code
  • Reworked healing ship class mechanics. Instead of shooting a beam of healing power into friendly ships. Friendly ships that need healing simply have to be in close proximity to yours.

Space Fighters Is Getting Remade From Scratch!

Hello everyone!

I know I haven't said anything in a long time and there has been an obvious lack of recent updates or announcements regarding the game, until now.

Ever since the latest release of Space Fighters I have had some time to think about the future of where Space Fighters is headed, and additionally I have had time to further practice and hone my Unity programming skills.

And so, I have come to the conclusion that Space Fighters- and more importantly, the community who bought and used to play the game, deserve more than what they received, Space Fighters simply deserves more than the state it was left in almost 2 months ago.

In order to bring about the new improvements Space Fighters so desperately deserves, I have began work on the new Space Fighters. I intend to write the whole game, and more, completely from scratch.

There will be no price increase and no new game package/DLC released. Meaning the current game everyone has bought and used to play and love will remain in everyone's Steam library. Except in a month or so time, I hope I will be able to unveil the new Space Fighters, rewritten from scratch, properly this time.

The game will consist of the exact same gameplay mechanics and ideas as before, only with better performance and better gameplay, as well as the very likely possibility of even further updates and additions down the road.

I'll be remiss if I wouldn't remind anyone who is interested in the future to follow our Twitter, join our Discord, and take a look at our official Reddit.

See you all soon on the galactic battlefield soon!

Version 0.5 And a More Fun Battlefield!

After observing for the last few weeks, it became clear the core gameplay of Space Fighters was missing something, and so I have added some fun and exciting features to spice up the gameplay experience!

In order to encourage team work between players and to add more things for players to do while playing, I added four different classes of ships, each meant to fulfill a different role in our battlefield of asteroids and capture points.

The Rocketship

The rocketship is less a rocket-engine power ship and more a ship fitted with a rocket launcher. This awesome rocket launching ship moves slower than other ships and has a slower reloading time for it's rocket launcher, but at the same time it offers unmatched firepower and deals a lot of damage to anyone unlucky enough to get hit with one of it's rockets.

The Medic

What kind of teamwork based game would Space Fighters be if it didn't offer some kind of medic/healer role for players to help each other with?

Meet the medical healing ship, it fires a beam of sci-fi filled medical healing gasses which can repair any team member ship!

The Gatling Ship

The last special ship that was added isn't called the 'Gatling Ship' for no reason. It is fitted with two gatling cannons on either side of it's wings for maximum, quick fire power.

If I were minding my own business capturing control points and I saw one of those heading towards me, I would start running pretty quickly!

Coming in at fourth place is the regular ol' scout ship we all got used to and loved. Battle tested and proven, the standard 'scout' ship has received an upgrade to it's control points capture system, allowing it to capture controls points more aggressively and more quickly.

Full Changelist

  • Added four new classes, listed and described above.
  • Scout class captures control points faster and easier.
  • Added multiple languages support - you can now choose to play the game in any of the languages provided by our dear community! (It's not too late to contribute your game translation! You can do so with the help of this thread).
  • Fixed optimization bug with muzzle flashes and bullet hits.

Community Provided Translations!

Since the early days of when Space Fighters was in Early-Access, I have promised to translate the game into various languages - translations provided by Space Fighter's own humble community.

Today is finally the day I can announce I will be accepting translated languages for Space Fighters - You alone have the power to help Space Fighters reach out to more people, how cool is that?!

In order to get started you must be able to translate accurately English to your preferred language.
Then, you can download the base translation file from here.

For more information/instructions I highly encourage you to head over to our forum thread!

I'm done translating! Where do I submit my file?

You can make a new guest paste over at pastebin.com - no registration needed. Once you have pasted your file, you can make a new thread in this forum, leave a link to your paste, and don't forget to mention to which language you have translated the file to!

If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, you may also choose to get in touch with me over our Discord and give me the file privately.

Thank you for taking an interest in helping Space Fighters reach out to more people!

If you have any more questions, feel free to visit our Discord and ask me questions there!
