Destroyer and Cruiser Updates



Because players tend to gravitate towards Light Cruisers instead of Destroyers for the Warship Tier, and towards Heavy Cruisers instead of Cruisers in the Capital Ship Tier, some boosts have been made to the Destroyer/Cruiser classes.



Class V: Destroyers

Swordfish Destroyers: +30 Hull
Leningrad Destroyers: +10 Hull
Battleborn Destroyers: +10 Hull, +2 Marine Pods
Interdictor Destroyers: +10 Hull, +1 Marine Pod



Class VII: Cruisers

All Cruisers (Sol/Genari): +20 Hull


Also: Hive defenses have been weakened, but Hive sectors are not capturable yet.

Warship Updates



DEVASTATOR CRUISER


Shield system now has improved efficiency, at tier3, with 18-21 shield strength, making it the only Genari ship with third power defenses.

EXETER HEAVY CRUISER


Monolith passive ability of the Sol Exeter is now raised to 10% chance of evading Genari fire (from a previous 5% evasion).

DESTINY TROOP SHIP


This Genari Troop Supply ship now supports 12 marine pods (instead of the original 10) and resupplies ships at 2 pods/round instead of one.

BENEVOLENCE HOSPITAL SHIP


This Sol Support ship now has double the medical bays, and improved shields (raised to tier3 systems).

Two New Ship Variants





SOL
Oslo Combat/Support Hybrid
Class IV Frigate

The Oslo shows its age considerably in the late 22nd century, as it was very unpopular with commanders fighting at the border, aiming for the far superior Gorshkov and Liverpool frigates. Rear Admiral Musashi decided to refit some of the underused Oslo ships with repair bays, so that they became sturdy support ships for the front line. Unfortunately two of the beams had to be removed for the repair bay, but they were upgraded to the most powerful LB-9 type lasers which could put out significant damage if fully charged.
This rare variant of the Oslo is the only combat warship with repair support capabilities.



GENARI
Predator Missile Ship
Class IV Frigate

On the surface, this seems to be the same Predator Frigate that the Talagh Matriarchy used as the mainstay of the their fleet. Some were modified however; with the beams removed and replaced with similarly-powered missiles. The power to damage ratio was improved, as well as the shield generator to the second generation variant. With slightly reduced armor, it is not considered superior to the original Predator, but is popular with many captains for its missile loadout.


New Season Has Begun!



Season IV: Jupiter Server



Season 3 was completed in 101 days, 17 hours -- with Sol winning the server.


A fleet of Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers, and a Dreadnought, along with a substantial amount of repair tenders pushed their way forward into the Genari homeworlds; eventually toppling the massive Genari Starbase. At one point, there were 30+ ships on the map!



Also a reminder: Players who participated in the last server automatically are awarded free credits if they have achieved a significant rank, or had sufficient pvp kills, or captured significant territory for their side.

EXPERIENCE POINTS
-All large defense bases & station now give approximately 10x more experience points for their destruction.

ARMOR IMPROVEMENTS
-All Class V Destroyers have approximately 10% more armor (hull points)

SHIP IMPROVEMENT
-The Victory Class VI Light Cruiser now has 15% improved accuracy on its missiles, increased range by 2000km.

SpaceWars Update V1.075

A small adjustment was made to the cooldown of destroyed repair tenders. These support ships now return to duty 2x faster.

All Class 5 (Destroyers) cooldown on destruction now approximately 24 hours.
The following Genari Ships receive armor (hull increases):
-All Firestorm Class VII Cruisers gain +10 hull
-All Devastator Class VII Cruisers gain +20 hull
-All Starfire Class VIII Heavy Cruisers gain +40 hull
-All Nova Class IX Battleships gain +50 hull
-Leviathan Class X Dreadnought gains +85 hull
The following Sol Ships gain or lose armor :
-All Exeter Class VIII Heavy Cruisers gain +30 hull
-All Kumano Class VI Light Cruisers gain +10 hull
-All Montana Class VII Cruisers lose -10 hull
Baltimore Type 2 Heavy Cruiser has its force fields slightly reduced from SIWFF3-8 to SIWFF3-7
Nova Battleships lose their two marine pods.
'Invalid Target' NPC targeting bug fixed.

Season 2 Ends with Genari Victorious

Season two was much more hard-fought than the previous season, with both sides in an extended tug of war that lasted three months. It looked like Sol was winning, but halfway through the season Genari took back a lot of territory. Then Sol seemed to get a second wind with a strong retaliation, but eventually succumbed to the Genari onslaught.
Late game Sol ships tend to be more powerful, but some good strategies (and some very hardcore players) managed to bring Genari to a victory on the very late evening of May 1st.



All players with significant rank and achievements at end of server are awarded legacy medals, and along with the medals credit bonuses that are carried over for them to use in future seasons.


The Hive Stirs...



The neighboring region, controlled by the Hive, has been dormant for a long while, but as Sol & Genari incursions agitate them further, they have become weaponized, and are starting to retaliate. Rumors have it that several nearby Sol & Genari sectors have been probed by the Hive, and an intelligent attack may be imminent.


SpaceWars Early Access Beta Update v1.06

• The Commandeer mechanic has been improved, so when a Sol ship is commandeered by Genari other Sol ships will now be able to fire upon the commandeered ship. If the commandeered ship is destroyed before leaving the map no bonus XP will be awarded to Genari players. Genari players will no longer be able to attack a commandeered Sol ship. Commandeered Sol ship scanners and detection now functions as if it were a Genari ship.
• The Marine Commander skills Commandeer are now available.
Commandeer I: Captured ships will take 1 turn less to warp out of a map. The successful exfiltration of a commandeered ship awards 4X the destruction XP instead of 2X.
Commandeer II: Captured ships will take 2 turns less to warp out of a map. The successful exfiltration of a commandeered ship awards 8X the destruction XP instead of 2X.
• Advanced Med Bays skills for the Sol Medical Officer have had their healing modifiers reduced.
Advanced Med Bays I: 5% Crew Healing per round
Advanced Med Bays II: 10% Crew Healing per round
• The ship skill Improved Rotation has been implemented and is now available on all Gorshkov and Starfire variants. This skill is functionally the same and will not stack with the Rotation officer skill.
• A server greeting message system has been added to the game. When a player loads into the Spacedock for the first time during a play session they will be presented with a message tailored to the specific server.
• A New Player server is now available. This server is meant as a place for learning to play the game in a limited fashion. Ships are limited to Class 4 Frigates and lower, and all variants can be unlocked for LP/HP (No Credits Required). Once players are ready to play in a competitive environment they can create a character the main server.
