Update 1.04

ːcutedragonː ːcutedragonː ːcutedragonː

Just a short message to announce the release of a new update for Spellcaster University. On the program, various optimizations and bug fixes, some visual improvements (especially for clouds), some comfort improvements (possibility to save your coats of arms/houses, summary panel of your school's teachers), and finally possibility for a fee to fire your teachers to get a new draw.

ːfatpegasusː ːfatpegasusː ːfatpegasusː

It has now been roughly 1 year and 9 months since we came out of early access, and about 3 and a half years since Spellcaster University existed with its first appearance on Steam. That's... a long time. So, it's time for us to move on. We'll be announcing good news about the future of Spellcaster University soon, which we hope you'll enjoy. We'll tell you more soon!

Major content update "Pegasus Rider"

Hello all mages, witches and other demonists, ːfatpegasusːːfatpegasusːːfatpegasusː

Today we made available a major new content update. We talked about it in terms of free DLC, but concretely everything is added directly into the game, you don't have to do anything.

To benefit from all the new features, it is better to start a new game. If you are in the middle of a campaign, most of the new features will only be available from the next level. The new features do not change the main mechanics, you may have to explore the decks to discover them.

The big new features are two new rooms with unique mechanics, fifteen new pieces of equipment and the cards that go with them. A new artifact and brand new futures as a bonus. I won't go into details, I'll let you discover. This is the biggest update since 1.0.

If you want to find out what's new, you'll find a changelog (absolutely not complete) in English in the game.

ːcutedragonː We hope you will like it! ːcutedragonː

Info on the next content update

Hello to all magic school directors!

Just a quick announcement about the new free content we've been talking about for a while. We're in the final stages of completion, with the final translations still to be added. The good news is that we can announce a final release date. The bad news is that it's still a bit delayed. The update will be released between April 7 and 14.

We thank you for your patience. We're sorry, but the team is very bad at restricting what is reasonable to do, and we always have a little tidbit we want to add, a little improvement, etc...

In the meantime, here are a few more pictures of what's coming in April:

Update 1.02, and some announcements

Halloween update

Two days ago we released a special update that introduces a series of small seasonal events spread throughout the year. We've also made some fixes, optimizations, and added some graphical variety to the castle balconies. It's a small update while waiting for the free DLC.

News about the future free DLC

On the other hand, we are still working on this free DLC, which should be released in the near future, and this is the opportunity to show you some of the new features to come.

First of all, this free DLC will double the number of pieces of equipment available for your students. They bring new powers to maximize the performance of your students, and some will help you in the dungeon phases!

We are also preparing the arrival of two new rooms.
First of all, the much requested common room, which will be associated with one of your houses and will take its colors (image of the room under development):

And then, the stadium, the first room occupying four boxes. We'll keep you guessing about the sport that is practiced there, but I promise it doesn't involve flying brooms (image of the room under development).

And on top of all that, there will be new dungeon encounters, new futures, a new language (Korean), and always new fixes.

We've been a bit ambitious with this update, and it's taking a bit longer than expected. We're sorry about that, but we're putting all our heart into making sure you like it!

End of early access now !

This is the 1.00! The whole team would like to thank all the players who participated in the Spellcaster University early access. The game has evolved a lot in almost two years thanks to you. But this is not the end of the road. We will continue to work on Spellcaster University: in addition to the updates that will fix the inevitable bugs that will be reported to us, we will be releasing a free DLC in autumn that will focus on magic items and student equipment. And we have other ideas for the future. Thanks again to everyone!

Fix: It is easier to select sleeping students (even if it is disrespectful to their sleep).

And a lot of other stuff that we didn't take the time to list in this changelog!

Just a little announcement to let you know that the release time is 07:00pm (Europe), 01:00pm (USA) and 01:00am (June 16) (Beijing). If you are interested in the game, wait for this time to buy it, there will be a 20% discount ːsteamhappyː.

End of early access and soundtrack

Hello everybody,

We're getting very close to the end of Early Access, which will happen on June 15th. This is a major milestone for the whole team, and we wanted to give you an update on what it means for you, the players.

  • :cutedragon: Version 1.0 offers a wide range of improvements and new features. We'll let you know the details on June 15, but among the big news, get ready to explore dungeons with your best students.
  • :fatpegasus: This does not mean that it will be without balancing issues and small bugs. The team will stay full time on the game for a some more months to make sure to provide the necessary updates.
  • :flyingguineapig: And even after that, it doesn't mean that we are dropping the development of Spellcaster University. On the contrary. In the fall we will offer all players a major free DLC that we will be working on until then. New cards and new equipment are on the way. And we've got more ideas for what's next!
  • :councillor: We will keep a close eye on the new dungeon system. It's very young, and we're ready to adjust and balance what needs to be adjusted.

To prepare for this release, we have put the game's soundtrack on sale. All the music composed for Spellcaster University is here, including all the new tracks made for the end of the early access. Feel free to check it out if you want to support us.

Finally, some visuals of the new dungeon system. It's a kind of mini-game that will allow you to capitalize on your best students, and to differentiate the role of the different magics.

Thank you all! And a special thanks to all the magic school directors who have been with us since the beginning of the early access!

Some news from Spellcaster University and the next 1.0

Greetings to all magic school directors. Today we have a small announcement to let you know a few things about the immediate future of Spellcaster University.

The first thing we wanted to tell you is that the pace of updates is going to decrease significantly, because unless there are major bugs, the next update will be 1.0 and the release of early access. When will this final release take place? It is not yet fixed, but expect something between 2 and 4 months. We will announce a definitive date soon.

What does this mean for you, dear magic school directors?

  • new events
new languages (a priori we are targeting: Spanish, Polish, Korean, Japanese, German) in addition to those already available
  • ] a completely rewritten version of the English version
  • ] more improvements of UI
  • and a big extra addition to enrich the gameplay. For now, here's just a little preview of what's coming... we'll keep the surprise for now.

But what is it? What are these creatures? Well, let's say your students are going to have some extra work! But we'll talk about that later in detail.

An improvement of the world map under development.

Finally, we would like to make it clear that the 1.0 release does not mean the end of Spellcaster University's development. We still have quite a few community-suggested improvements that we would like to add. Even though we won't be able to do "everything"! Thanks to all of you!
