Greetings restless sinners.. the chambers await thee.
Steam Trading Cards have been added (cheers Saint Gaben!) If you've played the game before then a bunch of cards may drop when you open the game.
A new Clan has been added called the Paupers. They are a naughty mob of thieves and vagabonds who don't have Clan Relics of their own, instead they can use Relics from every other Clan (assuming you have those Clans unlocked). They can also steal from shoppies but start with a weakling knife so you'll need cunning to stay alive to pilfer the Abyss. Like the other Clans the Paupers have to be unlocked, and now the Shinobi Clan does too.
A new region has been added called the Sinner Chambers. Home to zombiefied beasties of mangled flesh and bone, just don't get nabbed or you'll be spending your miserable days couped up in the jails. The new region can be unlocked in a similar way to the other alternate regions, a rusty gate blocks the way within.
There's been a fair few upgrades to the Clashful Cards game mode... - Added 6 board themes which have an affect on the game (e.g. in the Slimes Mire theme you'll have to contend with exploding mushrooms). - 5 New Actions (Critical Strike, Sucker Punch, Shiv, Grapple, Move) +plus Cursed variants of the normal attack actions. - 5 New Spells (Doom, Strengthen, Weaken, Teleport, Slow Time). - 3 new Clashful Cards fighters (Flesh Warden, Flesh Gobber, Flesh Birther). - Added the current Win Streak / Best Streak to the bottom left of the screen. - Added number risers after appropriate actions (e.g. it shows how much damage an attack did which is useful for cursed attacks). - Spear: Will now pierce through all cards (including friendlies) and can be used if the first target is a friendly. - Spells are now cumulative (so you can cast the same spell on the same enemy). - Fighter decks no longer have duplicate fighters. - The computer will now always get the first turn. - Player Hearts now start at 50 Health and some fighter cards have had their Health/Attacks tweaked. - Improved the turn auto-end when you have no viable actions left (previously having a spell action would never auto-end the turn).
Some new items to play with, each of the Clans getting a new relic... - Alchemistro - Necrosis Incant: Increases your basic shot damage. - Katanachi - Accursed Bombs: Your bombs create extra mini-explosions in random directions. - Shinobi - Beguile Dummy: Allows you to create a dummy hero fooling enemies into attacking that instead of you. - Minesmithers - Runic Reverb: When digging it will also destroy nearby walls that contain gems. - Bonehaunted - Sentinel Bile: Your orbital flame protectors will do double their usual damage. - Warlocks - Charge Shard: Hold Shoot then press Bomb to fire multiple bombs at the cost of 2 bombs. - Safety Pin: If equipped then getting hurt will cause only 1 HP loss. - Soul Casket: Opening it gives you numerous orbital flame protectors.
Other bits and bobs... - 8 new achievements associated with the region/Shinobi/Paupers unlocks. Plus achievements for completing a Hunt/Adventure without picking up any gold. - Added an Aim button for keyboards which when pressed brings up a crosshair and allows you to aim without moving. - Added a new level sub-room (Chronos Chest) that allows you to store a few items between runs, though there are limitations. - Added a new level sub-room (Refiner) where you can destroy an item for gems (more than you usually get for selling) but if you refine too many items the whole thing blows up hugely (leg it!) - Added a new level sub-room (Storehouse) that just has a bunch of crates big and small that may or may not have a variety of stuff. - Restless Adventures: Added a second phase to the End Boss when he reaches less than 50% Health. - Lexicanium Hunt: The End Boss now has a bit more health. Also during his second phase a new attack type has been added, one of the other attack types is now not as easy to avoid, and he now attacks more frequently. - The game will now detect any keyboard/gamepad input presses and set the appropriate menu button icons (keyboard/xbox/playstation). - Fairy Fountain: Added a hard cap to the amount of times you can be successful when offering a diamond. When bestowing an item if it would confer a special response then it will always be successful (instead of a chance of it being ignored like any other item). Bestowing an Unholy Pact item will now confer a special response. - Exotic Mushroom: Their invincibilty time is now halved if used during a boss fight. - Skeleton: Reduced their Spooky Bonepile drop rate and they no longer drop them in the Soul Survivor game mode. - Cabins Reminiscel: When entering a seed into the Mirror Device it will also display the seed used the last time you entered the Mirrored Abyss. - On the Game Over grave scene the "exit to title screen" option has been changed to "change game mode" which takes you directly to the game mode menu on the Title Screen. - Katanachi: Added a tip for beginners when releasing a bomb explaining that holding Down will drop it at your smelly feet. - Removed the gems from the Fortuity Destiny clan selection as it was just causing confusion.
And some bug fixes... - Fixed a bug with the melee Clans where sometimes you could be swinging one way but facing the other way. - Katanachi - Goopy Bombs: If stood next to a wall the bomb wasn't immediately sticking to it if you also had other bomb relics. - Katanachi: Bomb colours weren't being properly assigned if you had multiple relics that each affect the bomb colours (particularly Remote Bombs). - Enrealmed Cloak: Some enemies (e.g. Boo Knight) could still see you even when enrealmed. - Jewel / Cracked Jewel: You were getting double its value if sold from the Status Screen when inside a shop. - Co-Op: When interacting with some level sub-room menus (e.g. Tarot Reader) opening then closing the Escape menu would re-activate the co-op player. - Co-Op: If both players were standing in front of separate item stalls then attempting to buy an item would do weird things. - Blood Moon Trials: During a Realm trial there was a chance the Abominable Frost enemy may cause a crash when first entering the stage. - Compendium: The Game Mode Stats pages were showing unlocked Clans (they should have a padlock icon).
Enjoy! :]
Warlocked Palace (v9)
Greetings restless cherubs....
A new witchy Clan has been added called the Warlocks. They start off a little weak but have powerful staff relics so you'll be pumping out a lot of magical loads sharpish. The new Clan has to be unlocked from within the Lexicaium Hunt or Restless Adventures game mode (hint: he's trapped in a snowy big friend).
A new region has also been added called the Ashen Palace. The Wraithen inhabitants won't take kindly to your presence who use magical attacks and whopping weapons to enslave your soul. Oh and watch out for haunted floating pots and spooky paintings too!
All of the alternative regions now must be unlocked to show up in runs. There's a good chance of you stumbling upon the Sealed Domain room before a stage where you'll need to figure out what items can be used to unseal the region doorway.
And more...
// New Stuff - The Minesmithers Clan must now be unlocked (hint: the bouldered way prevents his escape). - 8 new achievements related to the new Clan/regions/Minesmithers unlocks. - Added a chance of you dropping into a special sub-stage called the Regionals Juncture. Assuming you have enough regions unlocked it gives you the choice of heading into one of two alternate stage regions (or you can ignore it and go to the regular region). - Added a new special room (The Bodger): There sits a big friendly faceless fella who will buy/sell/repair equipables items. Though he's not the best at repairing items and his stock isn't in top notch condition. - 2 new Clashful Cards fighters (Wraith, Wraithen King). - Blaspheme Librarium: Added Warpstones to each row which allow you to teleport between them (since Clans with a reduced jump height can't reach the ledges to go back up the level).
// New Items
- Blasphem Bombossus: A throwable massive bomb (make sure you leg it after it's thrown!) - Magic Magnet: Sucks in gold and gems that are somewhat close. - Spooky Bonepile: Throwable bone projectiles (similar to those the Skeleton throws and who also now have a chance of dropping Bonepiles). - Banana Pizza: There's a 33% chance your character won't like the taste (this is randomly determined at the start of the run). If you like the taste then it heals 3-5 health, otherwise it hurts 1 health.
// Minor Stuff
- Bonehaunted: If he picks up hearts then it will now give you a little flamey protector instead of giving you gold. - You no longer auto-grab ledges if you're holding the attack or bomb buttons. - Glint Firecrackers: Will now also destroy any enemy projectiles onscreen. - Divine Trinket: Death blows will now reduce the damage to 1 and count as using a Pure Heart. - Succulent Fruit: Will now always give you at least +1 Heart and works with Cutty Cutlery. For the Bonehaunted Clan it now randomly gives 1-4 flams. - Sticky Tape: Can now also be used to repair a Cracked Jewel. - Bomb Dust: This should now work correctly with the different Clans and Cutty Cutlery. - Shroom Shack: In the secret room there's a chance of there now being up to 3 Bizarre Mushrooms. They can be used like a regular Mushroom but depending on their type they inflict a screen effect until the invincibility wears off (screen effects are from the Blood Moon Trials). - Antlered Trader: He will now accept Soulic Jewels and Cracked Jewels which have a high value. - Guilder's Emporium: Added inventory paging to the Seller's menu when selling stuff and items you can't sell are faded. - Pots: When standing on a skull ghost pot that you break it no longer instantly hurts you. - The Restless Adventures game mode now starts off locked until you complete a Lexicanium Hunt. - Compendium: Locked Clans are now hidden.
// Cabins Reminiscel
- The way you unlock the game mode has been changed somewhat. Now when you've beaten a Restless Adventure there's then a good chance you'll stumble upon the Unlock Mirror before a stage starts and just requires touching it to unlock the mode. The intro has also been moved here so it's all rather less confusing. - The save file structure has changed and is now located in "cabin.dat". You shouldn't notice any changes (except the save file being much more organised) but thought I'd mention it in case it mucks something up. - Guilder: You can now buy multiples of the same item if it would normally be allowed (e.g. orbitals). - Resetting the game mode will no longer delete the main game mode stats. - Bug Fix: Giving the Fairy unlock the Flute would wrongly remove a Map from your inventory. - Bug Fix: The Cursed Memory items would respawn in the Abyss after you've delivered them to the Crypt. - Bug Fix: If you picked up a Cursed Memory but didn't deliver it and exited the game mode then it wouldn't save which type of Memory it was.
// Misc Bug Fixes
- Mouse Controls: The mouse aim was affecting both players in Co-Op mode. - Mouse Controls: When using sword based Clans their facing wasn't updating correctly if you held down the attack button. - Lexicanium Hunt - Boss: Killing him using the Bonehaunted warp explosion (or similar situations) would cause issues since it creates a new player character after the death sequence has begun. - Sticky Tape: Could wrongly be used on non-gear items and gear with already full durability.
Enjoy. :]
Bonehaunted Mechanius (v8)
Greetings restless....
A new spooky Clan has been added called the Bonehaunted. They are somewhat of a challenge Clan as their brittle bones can typically only get hit twice per stage before it's game over and health pickups won't help, but they regenerate at stage end, carry a whopping flaming sword and have the curious ability to Warp Bomb (creates an explosion where you teleport to). The new Clan has to be unlocked within the Restless Adventure game mode (hint: he's hiding where you might expect a haunted bonepile to be buried).
A new region has also been added called the Sanguine Mechanius. There's a chance of it appearing once you've won a Restless Adventure and it appears quite late on so is a bit of a toughy to deal with until you learn how the various traps operate but stay clear of the bloody blood golems!
In the Cabins Reminiscel game mode two new areas have been added to the Hub and two new characters to meet there. In the normal game modes in between stages you get a gift from your clan, but that's not the case in the Cabin mode any more. Instead you can order supply drops from the Guilder Trader once you've unlocked him, and you can also buy clan relics from him. In the Crypt if you help the poor spook find his lost babies each spirit found will increase your starting health by +1.
And various other niceties... enjoy! :]
// New Stuff - 10 new achievements related to the Bonehaunted clan, the Cabins Reminiscel and Soul Survivor game modes. - Added a new sub-stage called Echoes Solemnity, where you have the option of teleporting to one of a selection of special rooms (Humongous Head, Manky Hole, etc). - 4 new hats (Scary Screamer, Anointed Flame, Hockey Jason, Potato Face). - 2 new skin garment/flesh colours (Cursed Purple, Restless Pink). - 2 new Clashful Cards fighter cards (Imp, Blood Golem). - Frostal Fields: Added a new enemy, a bigger version of the Hailstone Whirl. - Blaspheme Librarium: Added a new enemy, a small imp that's a bit of cannon fodder but can alert Liches of your presence. Liches also have a chance of spawning a horde of them when they first see you. - Guilder's Emporium: Added an extra friendly shopkeeper who will buy your unwanted items and bombs. - Fairy Fountain: Added unique responses for the following item bestowals: Soiled Diaper, Handy Mirror, Cracked Jewel, Gift Surprise, or any of the clan orbital items. - Perditions Path: Added a secret Boned Hole.
// New Items - Added a new pickup called a Pure Heart. It nullifies the next hit you suffer and gives extra invincibility frames. - Purity Pendant: Heart pickups become pure hearts. - Wraithen Talon: Creatures you slay become orbital spectral protectors that hurt enemies. - Jewelry Box: Contains a random trinket which worth is added to your score, or there's a small chance it may contain a jewel related item. - Teleport Beamer: Can be used to accurately teleport anywhere onscreen.
// Other Bits & Bobs - Aiming has been tweaked for the melee clans. Holding the attack button will retain the same aim direction (just like the ranged attack clans), however, if you let go of the attack button then it will update your aim direction (even when mid-swing, though the swing itself will be the same). - Co-op: The twin moving offscreen no longer auto-teleports him, instead an arrow shows indicating his position. A player getting hurt no longer plays the hurt animation for both players and won't auto-telport the twin. - Blood Moon Trials: You can now use the Skip Scene button when dying to quick-restart the trial. - Blood Moon Trial - Slimes Obstacles Trial: Tweaked the design so it's less confusing that you need to screenwarp. - Blood Moon Trial - Amaurosis Realm Trial: The b&w now has a pinky overlay so the screen effect no longer melts your eyeballs. - Cabins Reminiscel: Buying hearts/bombs should work correctly now (previously the different clan effects was mucking this up). - The Rocketeer: You can now also just hold the Jump button to use it when equipped. Once it's ran out of juice you drop it and it begins to explode. - Diaper: There's a 10% chance it may nullify an enemy attack, in which case the diaper is "used" (oh no). - Binocularscope: You are no longer immortal whilst using them. - Crates: If you have at least 33 bombs then there's a chance a crate containing bombs will instead be booby trapped with live bombs (the more bombs you have the higher the chance). - Explosions: Their base damage has been reduced a bit. If the player is close to the center of the explosion then the damage suffered is doubled. - Boo Boner: Their flaming skull attacks no longer destroy your own attacks, but their attack pattern has changed making them a bit more dangerous. - Level Generation: Special rooms now close off broken paths leading into them (e.g. a Vault Chest room will fully close all paths leading into them).
Shrooma Reminisce (v7)
Hey restless venturers, hope the frostal Wintery festivities treated you well. For the first update of the year I thought I'd just do a more general update with most of the game modes getting some bits and bob sprinkles of sprucing up. Enjoy. :]
// Lexicanium Hunt / Restless Adventures - Added a new sub-stage called the Shroom Shack where you can pick a box to help you on your way (and has a little secret). - Added a new sub-room where you can play a card matching game, match cards to win various prizes. - Slimes Mire: There's now a chance of the area being Cursed. In which case most things are rather more explodey and bubbled, though there's a nice big extra chest to compensate. - Fallen Sanctum: There's now a chance of the area being Cursed. In which case a purple haze envelops the region, enemies are all replaced with Cursed Boo Gravers, and the haunted statues fire magical projectiles. - Blaspheme Librarium: If you've beaten the Lexicanium Hunt there's now a chance this region may show up in a Restless Adventure on either stage 6 or 7. The region now uses a 5x7 grid of rooms (instead of the usual 6x6). - Bug Fix: The Stage Complete room would sometimes have mucked up level theme sprites if you came from a sub-stage, and the circle transition would for a split second be in the middle of the screen instead of the top.
// Cabins Reminiscel - Hub World: Added a new area and two unlockable friendly people (so you can now buy bombs/health). To unlock them you have to meet them in the Mirrored Abyss and perform a few tasks. There's 2 new achievements for unlocking them. - Passive items no longer have any effect in the Hub World (e.g. Newton Sphere, Monocles, Balloon, etc) as this causes too many problems. - Bug Fix: In the outside Mirror Cave room using the Katanachi clan jumping high when entering the cave would clip through the front sprite.
// Clashful Cards - At the start of each game you can now choose to redraw your cards up to two times (just in case you draw a naff set or fancy a gamble). - Beginning a new game from the escape menu now resets your winning streak.
// Soul Survivor - Added usuable items, though they work a little differently. There's a chance of the between Wave item being a usuable. If picked up it's auto-equipped and you cannot have more than one usuable item (picking up a second replaces the first). The usuable item pool includes: Glint Firecrackers, The Rocketeer, Bernard's Watch, Choccy Bar, Exotic Mushroom. Some of these items work slightly differently (e.g. choccies give limited invincibility instead of health). - Item Pool: Added Newton Sphere. - Game Over screen: Added the Wave number. - Status screen: Removed the timer. - Bug Fix: Using the Pro-HUD the Score was incorrectly aligned.
// Blood Moon Trials - Restless Obstacles Trial: Tweaked the design a little so the Minesmither can jump over the last Gravetender and make it easier for him to reach the ladder.
// New Items - Abracadabra Wand: Can be used to turn items into other random items, though each time there's a small chance of something unintended happening (either it randomises all your items, turns all items into mushrooms or switches your health and bombs around).
// Misc - Batty: Visually tweaked the design to make it a bit bigger so easier to see/hit (added a tail, eyes flash). Added a small effect when it first sees you. - Buzzy: They now have a vision arc so can be sneaked up on. - Sticky Tape: Is now instead used to repair usuable items to their full health. - The small Normal and Gold Chests now have a very small chance of being booby trapped with live bombs. - Fairy Fountain: You now get something nice if you bestow a Bottled Fairy. - Shop: If you carry a Soiled Diaper then Shopkeepers will now remark on it and give you their last item if only one remains. - Reputation Trader: He now has a platform in case you blow up the floor. When trading, the amount of your items it shows has increased, added menu paging if you have more than 18 items, and fixed a few minor bugs when selling items. - Played around with the Exit Game menu options so submitting your score felt a bit more intuitive. In a Hunt/Adventure the option is to "commit seppuku" which asks to confirm it taking you to the game over screen where you can then choose to restart or quit to title screen. - Menu head icons now reflect your current clan (e.g. status map screen, escape menus, compendium menus). - Destroying the Hat Unlock big chests no longer creates Skully Ghosts.
// Misc Bug Fixes - Fullscreen: Starting the game in fullscreen then turning it Off would muck up the graphic scaling. - Vsync: This wasn't being applied at start of game if set to On. - Going to the Abysm Challenges menu would reset the character customiser in the other game modes. - If the Minesmither doesn't have a weapon (e.g. during a Trial or Cabin mode) then you couldn't switch directions. - Runic Hammer: Sometimes the hammer was colliding with an enemy before the normal attack swipe so enemies weren't being killed when they should. - Diaper: Both the Fresh and Soiled varients were in the item pool (just fresh will do thankies). - Gnatty: They were not affected by Boot Spikes. - Taurus: He could still poke you with his trident even when carrying his big bomb. - Skeleton: Buried skellies will now awaken if the wall below them is destroyed. - Stairs weren't crumbling if you destroyed the wall next to it.
Frostal Moon (v6)
Hey restless. :]
A new game mode has been added called the Blood Moon Trials. It includes a variety of short but difficult challenges, such as defeating a boss or obstacle course without getting hit, making your way through weird realms, or other oddities like pumping your balloon an awful lot. The game mode is unlocked once you beat the Lexicanium Hunt and Restless Adventures, and there's 3 new achievements for beating off those trials.
A new chilly region has also been added called the Frostal Fields. It includes 3 new iced out enemies and a few new hazards to contend with. There's always a random chance of you stumbling into it during a Hunt or Adventure so stay frosty.
Also...
// minor bits & bobs - Clashful Cards: 4 new cards: Wordbearer, Hailstone Whirl, Freeze Flake, Abominable Frost - Single Player Gamepad Input: At game start it now auto-detects a plugged in gamepad if the default input isn't plugged in (so if it was set to xbox but you only have a playstation pad plugged in then it will auto-set it to playstation). - Button Icons: During the Tutorial the dialogue will attempt to auto-detect your input and set the appropriate button icons (either keyboard, xbox or playstation). - Soul Survivor: Added Freeze Flake enemy. Using Pro-HUD now shows the current wave. - Rocketeer Pack: Using the jetpack whilst holding a ledge/ladder will now let go of the ledge/ladder. - Orbital Shuriken: Now gets a damage boost if you also have Envenomed Blades. - Crow Caltrops: Now get thrown a bit further if you're aiming upwards. - Haunted Lantern (Restless Burials): Can now be attacked as it's falling (to explode it before it hits the ground). - Boo Graver (+purple variant): They now move twice as fast if they're offscreen when stalking you and their firing arc has been widened. - Skeleton: Must now be fully within the camera view to throw bones (previously he could be below the camera and still throw). - Pact room: Items have a random durability bonus/penalty between -50% to +50%. - Fairy Fountain: Added item paging to the bestow item menu. - Changed the map making code to improve general level performance a smidge.
// bug fixes - Mouse Aim: Left click wasn't working in menus. - Title Screen - Skin Customiser: The player sprite viewer wasn't initially updating the hat/skin when opening. - Clan Alchemistro: The player sprite's head when looking forward/back wasn't fully affected by skin colour changes. - Fallen Sanctum: The floating blocks were not appearing on your map. - Lexicanium Hunt - Boss: The imprisoned child was sometimes changing clan between phases and once freed it wrongly used the player variables for its appearance (e.g. skin, hat, jetpack). - Abysm Challenges: If you won the game mode then it was sending you to the normal leaderboard instead of the Challenge one. - Soul Survivor: Using Pro-HUD the score font wasn't correctly set. - Fairy Fountain: Visually used the wrong area theme if you went to it from the Manky Burrow. - Shop room: Bomb pickups weren't being affected by clan value modifiers (e.g. Shinobi should get x2 bombs). You could mattock the walls without it angering the shopkeepers. - Orbital Shuriken and Runic Orbital clan items weren't hurting hanging bats. - Runic Mineraliser clan item wasn't working in the Perditions Path and Blaspheme Librarium. - Rocketeer Pack: The dark blue wasn't been affected by skin colour changes. - In the Adventure's end win plummet scene, the Shinobi and Miner character's head had a thick black outline. - Status Screen: Item paging always showed down arrow even if you were already on the max page.
Enjoy! And since this will be the last update of the year, Merry Christmas and happy new year! :]
Shinobi Minesmithers (v5)
Hey Abysms. :]
Two new clans have been added, the Shinobi and Minesmithers. The Shinobi may seem a little weak at first but are fast and agile and with some nice synergising heirlooms you'll quickly be tossing out multiple envenomed throwing daggers. The Minesmithers are the opposite, slow and sturdy and carry big old mattocks instead of bombs for carving through the regions. They're available to play right away, but in future I'd like to add in some interesting unlock mechanism for them and other new clans. There's also four new achievements associated to them.
There's 7 new items: The Rocketeer, Somarios Staff, Newton Sphere, Bernard's Watch, Voodoo Doll, Notched Mattock, Loyalty Card.
And some other bits & bobs... - Abysm Challenges: The challenge selection menu now shows what the clan is for that run. - Clan items have been added to the Itemography which now also has sub-menus for passive/gear/clan. The two previous Itemography achievements have been replaced with three new ones for completing each category. The two Choose Leaderboard menus have been combined into a single menu. - Void Thorn: Renamed to Infernal Thorn and now also confers explosion immunity. - Added a visual setting to remove the decorative falling snow. - In the Slimes Mire region the big explosive red mushrooms have a chance of being a purple variant, in which case they dish out multiple explosions in random directions when hurt. - Added an extra normal room template to the Fallen Sanctum and Perditions Path regions. - Redid some of the player character draw code so the black outline should be more consistent. - Pact room: You can now jump on the altar to reach high items and added a platform so it can be interacted with even if there's no wall below. - Shop: There's now a 15% chance of it being a speciality shop (Bomb/Gift/Heart) that sells similar item types. - Soul Survivor: Removed the falling snow. - During an Adventure/Hunt/Survivor game over it now only takes you to the leaderboard if you score top 12/12/6 online. - Clashful Cards: Your turn auto-ends after using an action if you have no usable actions left. - Added a timer to the Pro HUD during the Adventure/Hunt stage end item selection screen since time passes there.
Enjoy. :]
Co-op Soul Survivor (v4)
Hey cherubs. :]
Co-op play has been added. You and a local chum can now play any of the game modes together, though you'll have to play nicely as you both share the same resources. You can choose the controls input type for both players in the settings menu.
A new game mode has also been added called Soul Survivor. It's an arena survival mode where you must endure endless gem dropping enemies. The enemies and arena are randomised each wave just to keep you on your toes, and there's 3 achievements to go with the game mode.
Plus some other bits and bobs...
- Added the game's soundtrack to the game folder so should automatically show in your Steam music library. - New sub-stage: Spookers Reckoning. - 3 New items: Jellied Eel, Glint Firecrackers, Divine Trinket. - Added a Gamepad Input setting so you can set the default gamepad input for single player mode.
Enjoy. :]
Lexicanium Hunt (v3)
Hey restless abysms. :]
A new game mode has been added called the Lexicanium Hunt. It includes a new boss and region called the Blaspheme Librarium which is home to a few new enemies/traps. The Hunt is just the 4 stages long compared to the Adventures 8 so it's intended as more of a tea-break jaunt if you don't quite fancy a full on score run Adventure. The Daily Abysm Challenge will now also use the Hunt mode.
Some other stuff too...
- 7 new items (Haunted Balloon, Voidic Thorn, Choccy Bar, Witchery Potion, Pixie Compass, Sticky Tape, Springy Sandals). - Improved performance by about 25%. - 5 new achievements (Lexicanium Hunt, Lexicanium Filthy Stinkin Rich, Lexicanium Gotta Go Fast, Spiritful Clan Alchemistro, Spiritful Clan Katanachi). - Added stats for the Abysm Challenges to the Grimoire Compendium. - Added a Reset Aim setting which resets your aiming to the horizontal if no direction is pressed. - Added a Quiet Hero setting which reduces the volume of player sounds (e.g. jumping, shooting). - Rejigged the Escape Menu so you can end the game to submit your current score and makes accidentally restarting your game harder. - 1 new Clashful Cards card (Lichema) (wow!) - Enrealmed Cloak: If you're already cloaked then moving will no longer reveal you (note actions like jumping still will). - You can now also sell Jewels to the Shoppie by standing in front to interact with him. - Katanachi can now have up to 4 mecha balls! - Minor non-gameplay bits & bobs.
Enjoy! :]
Gubbins Update (v2)
Hey abysms. :]
Just want to give a big thanks to the Abysm Community for your kind words and feedback since the release of Spirits Abyss. There's been a fair amount of suggestions to improve controls, quality-of-life, balance, etc, so I just wanted to spend a bit of time working on the various reported issues.
Here be changes...
/// General - Added a Skip Scene button to the various Game Over, End Boss and Won Game scenes. Press then hold the confirm button (there's an indicator in the bottom right). - Status Screen: Now shows a few more items and can be fully page scrolled if you have lots of items. - Settings - Added an Epilepsy Mode option which greatly reduces strobes, flashes, and screenshakes. - Settings - Added an Aim Indicator option which draws a small arrow in the direction you're aiming. - Settings - Added an Auto Ledge Grab option which toggles whether you need to hold up to ledge grab (defaulted to "auto"). - Settings - Added a Reverse Ledge Jump option which toggles whether you need to be holding into or away from the wall to perform a wall-jump when also ledge-grabbed (defaulted to "away"). - Settings - Added options to change what action the Menu Confirm and Menu Back buttons are assigned to. - Settings - Added description texts to clear up a bit what the various options do. - Compendium: Added game mode stats for Clashful Cards and Cabins Reminiscel. - Clashful Cards: Added a tutorial and the option to play against a local human. - At the game mode selection screen the game mode boxes and clan boxes now have up to three gems reflecting progression within that game mode (e.g. achievements). - Cabins Reminiscel: You can now choose to wipe this game mode's save data by talking to the creepy statue in the mirror cave. Also added an intro scene after you've unlocked it that explains you're now in the this mode and the differences from the Restless Adventures mode. - Look Up/Down: Fixed a bug where the look counter wasn't being reset, which would result in the player looking up/down without first holding the button by itself for a full second. - Switched the default buttons for Jump and Shoot around (e.g. on an xbox pad pressing A to jump and X to attack seems to be the norm).
/// Balance - changes to make initial learning smoother - Player invincibility time increased by +25% overall except for the blue area region which is increased by +37%. - Bats: Now slightly slower and behave much less erratically if they can't see you. - Running Ghost: Now inflicts 2 damage when touched instead of 3. - Skull Ghost: Now inflicts 1 damage when touched instead of 2 (this only applies in the blue area region).
/// Balance - changes to reduce end-game ballooning - The number of crates is decreased in later stage regions (purple:-25%, red:-50%), where as previously it was the same all over. Chance of them having bomb boxes is reduced. - Treasure Chests in general are now mainly about gold/gems rather than stuffing you with items. - Stage Completion Scene: Much less chance of bomb boxes. - Bomb Boxes now give 8 bombs instead of 10. - Shop: Item costs are increased based on the stage region (green:x2, purple:x3, red:x4). Has less chance of selling bombs. - Some late game enemies are now bomb resistant (Boo Knight, Taurus, Skullion, Undying Boss) which greatly reduces the effectiveness of bombs (though they still do more damage than regular attacks). - Undying Boss: Bomb damage reduces his attack timer so he attacks quicker if you bomb him (this already applied to regular damage but there was a bug preventing this happening with bomb damage). The speed of the skulls he spawns is reduced (big ones were pretty nasty). - Fairy Fountain: If offered a Diamond there's a chance you may get 1 or 2 hearts instead of the full 3.
