Spirittea's Hook, Line & Spirit update is OUT NOW!
Hi everyone!
It's time for another big update to Spirittea! This time, we have been working on a big new feature, and a whole host of bugs have been taken care of! Are you ready to go FISHING?
Since our last update, we've been looking at feedback and watching folks play. Something we really wanted to make more engaging was the fishing minigame - so we totally redesigned it! From today, you can play the brand new minigame (complete with new targeting!) or switch in the options to keep the old minigame and play as you have been - it's totally up to you!
The new fishing system comes with a brand new casting bar to make sure you hit your target every time, then dives down under the waves to put you in control of reeling in your latest catch - can you time your fishing just right before your line snaps and you're sent reeling?
Every fish will have some stamina; it's up to you to outlast them, but keep your precious rod in one piece!
Alongside the new fishing, here are some quality-of-life changes & bug fixes we've added:
You can now toggle how dark it is at night to help you navigate better
Added a STREAMER MODE in the options to better hide away details about you in Moby's quest
Fixed a bunch of spooky bugs where some ducks could be deleted unintentionally, or their reflections would sit in baths where they weren't!
Made it so the big cherry blossom by the bathhouse goes transparent when the player walks behind it (to help with finding sakura blossoms)
Fixed it so that Spirits no longer leave towels in the unreachable void if you suddenly leave the bathhouse
Added ice (and icey sounds!!) to the rice paddies in winter
Fixed bug where karaoke on PC would display correct key bindings but would only accept default inputs
Added ability to change the text finished sound or to remove it completely
Added floor and ceiling brooms to Song's shop. Change the camera, repair kit, retro TV, quest for the end II, stinker statue, and Gamestation 7 to be able to be purchased more than once (for people that lost/sold them)
Added a Kenzo hotspring animation!
Fixed an issue where spirits would sometimes disappear when you put them in a bath

It's been a massive last few months since we launched in November, which of course was the Cheesemaster's first ever launch. In between then and now, They've had a baby and moved to South Korea, so these last few months have been huge!
There's been so many things we've wanted to fix and update, and this update is the first of many! We appreciate all of you who have given Spirittea so much support, and been patient while we've been going through so many life changes. But now, we're so excited to bring you the first of many updates, all thanks to your feedback and bug reports!
Here's what we're bringing you with this update:
Introducing the Wonyan hint system! Now, whenever you're doing a quest and you're unsure of what to do, you can ask Wonyan for help in pointing you in the right direction!
When you interact with Wonyan, you'll see the option to ask for advice. Choose the quest you need help for, and Wonyan will give you some clues!
Not to mention, some quality of life changes & bug fixes:
The effect of drinking will wear off with a good sleep
Added naked reaction text for Ito! 😱
Fixed amount of friendship given to NPC if player wins minigame (was half of amount if NPC wins)
Removed poobird near the player's house that led to nowhere
Removed the early game Wonyan hint system (for Sujin's, Moby's and Young's quests)
Wonyan can't be talked to (get in your way) when the bathhouse is running (unless the tutorial hasn't been completed yet)
Slowed Clarence's bird watch animation
Fixed bug where fish couldn't be offered to the lord spirits and to regular bathing spirits
Fixed a crash when the player would hit bath monkeys with a net
Fixed an issue where food couldn't be given to spirits when attempting to give it from above spirits (aka spirits sitting in the top row of the bath)
Fixed a bug where if the recipe dropped by a crab (Julian's quest) spawns in an inaccessible place, re-entering the room will move the recipe to the beach
Fixed a bug where Amelia's and Clarence's quests were still both triggering on the mountain at the same time

We have some amazing news for Switch players, we're finally bringing you our most recent update - the SpecQUACKular Update!
But not only that, as well as new content, we're bringing you a whole host of changes, which means you'll be receiving all the updates & fixes players got on Steam, all in one go! Now you'll be completely up to date!
To start with, here's all the new content you can expect:
DUCKS! You'll now be able to have cute, algae eating ducks in your bathhouse! 🦆
You'll find a brand new shop vendor called Ito who will have a few new things to sell! His truck will pass through town here and there, so be sure to keep an eye out!
You'll notice new seasonal mechanics in the bathhouse! Depending on the season, you'll find your baths filling up with algae, ice, and even fallen leaves! Keep the baths clean (with the help of the ducks!) to make room for your spirits! Maybe the new bathhouse heaters might help? Perhaps a net might help pick up those pesky leaves outside?
We gave Bruce some new animations!
We added a reticule to fishing, so now it's even easier to see where the bobber will land and where exactly you're fishing!

Allowed player to be able to run the bathhouse on the weekend even when Fae has an upgrade scheduled (because she's technically not working)
Modified quest code/save data so that the town board will now consider quests completed without needing to talk to NPCs after you've helped out the spirit. The NPCs will still have the post quest dialogue and the notebook won't be marked as completed until you talk to them, but the town board will take down the notice after you've helped the spirit
Made it so Yumi's quest can be triggered if it's 5 something pm, so long as she's not still in the school
Added backup code that will teleport Yumi to the correct spot at the end of her quest if her pathfinding fails for 3 seconds
Fixed the selling shrine displaying a -1 for a price
Fixed crash due to bath monkeys not being able to find a spot in the outdoor baths
Fixed the resale value of rice to be equal to the sale value (rather than worth more)
Changed criteria for the quest done stamp in the notebook (marked completed when expected. No post-quest dialogue needed to mark as complete)
Fixed a bug where oil beetle can't be caught in trap without crash
Fixed a bug (again) where NPC hobbies in notebook were being recorded as "1"
Fixed bug where the shop called seaweed "seaweed soup"
Fixed a bug where getting hit with snowball while biking makes bike disappear
Fixed a bug where biking while getting an item resulted in item floating and unable to be picked up
Edited player collision code to stop them from passing through the bridge on the east side of town
Fixed a bug where player could clip through the bridge on the right side of town
Tentatively fixed bug where game would crash and error report indicated bath monkeys were the cause
Added names to the bottoms of letters
Changed the end of Amelia's quest so that you can get the post-quest dialogue even if NPC is working the shop
Fixed a bug where Wonyan gave Morinoba's steam deck dialogue at end of game
Fixed bug where player couldn't pass through the temple tunnel
Seemed to fix bug where rabbit spirit in Miko's quest teleports through wall if you place the lure close to the purple door in Miko's house
Fixed book UI to make sure progress bar can't surpass the UI space for it
Fixed a bug where you can't cook fish in bathhouse
Fixed a bug where Amelia's quest status isn't reset after quest completion, so her freetime inquiries and dialogue are still quest-related
Fixed coding error with bath spots (hopefully related to why spirits sometimes disappear from tub)
Fixed (again) the mix-up between the two dig spot locations down by the temple area
Fixed some sloppy coding for Sujin's quest where the spirit might appear unresponsive
Manually set some NPCs to be performing certain actions during the "meet the townsfolk" segment of the intro
Made 2 books in Song's shop purchasable more than once
Fixed a spelling bug with Eric's dialogue about remembering to play music
Fixed a bug where button prompt to show details said "welcome to the karaoke minigame"
Bath monkeys won't be stuck levitating if you release them near a lamp, as well as when you're hovering over an object you can pick up
Fixed a crash when Yari is destroyed because the season switched to fall when the player slept
Removed NPC destroy event (moved code to clean up event)
Fixed Morinoba's dialogue when playing on Steam Deck
Removed train carriage destroy event and replaced it with clean up event
Blocked the boiler saw from being accessible until specific parts of the tutorial
Made the bathhouse tutorial entrance invisible blocker persistent during the tutorial so players can't break the tutorial by accidentally leaving at the wrong time
Added an extra line of clarification to the bathhouse upgrades UI (upon paying for an upgrade) indicating the day the upgrade will be finished, and stating that Fae will finish the upgrade at the end of her work day on that day
Fixed a bug where lord spirit text when moving between rooms would cause time to freeze
Changed some code to help with crashes when entering/exiting the bathhouse
Put a check in to destroy the train if it's somehow around when it's not 7am or 9pm
Fixed an issue where if you saved the game after seeing the bathhouse with Wonyan for the first time (exterior) and exited completely, you will now be able to progress the tutorial in the convenience store as intended
Fixed a bug where "blank text" text appears in Yumi's page of notebook
Fixed a bug where there was seemingly another character page in the notebook to the right of Yumi's page. Also removed the ability to flip past Yumi's (the last) page
Fixed a bug where if you were moving an object in storage or the fridge to a new location, and instead of selecting the new location you chose the initial spot, the item would disappear
Jan will now stop 35 pixels from the target NPC when helping the player find everyone, rather than stopping on top of them
Added backup to prevent baby boar from hitting player while player is entering a new room

We’ve got a new Spirittea update for you, which includes more bug fixes and small quality of life additions!
To kick things off and to tide you over until the next big update, you can grab Spirittea for 20% OFF right now!
Here's what you can expect to find in today's update:
Inventory stacking! We know you've all been waiting for this, and we're more than happy to deliver! Now, if you have more than one of the same item in your inventory, it'll stack instead of taking separate inventory slots! It'll stack in other places with storage too, like the chest in your house, fridges, etc.
And here's the full list of bug fixes and quality of life improvements:
Fixed issues with Morinoba’s dialogue when playing on Steam Deck
Added a sleeping animation for Fae
The poobirds now have sound effects!
The train carriage destroy event has been replaced with a clean up event
The boiler can’t be accessed until specific parts of the tutorial, to avoid unintended behavior
The invisible blocker during the bathhouse tutorial is now more prominent, to stop players from breaking the tutorial and accidentally leaving at the wrong time
Added more clarification to the bathhouse upgrades UI when you pay for an upgrade. It will now be indicated the day the upgrade will be finished and will inform the player that Fae will finish the upgrade at the end of her work day
The player can now run the bathhouse on the weekend, even when Fae has an upgrade scheduled, as she doesn’t work on the weekend
Fixed a crash relating to bath monkeys not being able to find a spot in the outdoor baths
Fixed a bug where Lord Spirit text would cause time to freeze when moving between rooms
Quests on the board and notebook will now complete regardless of whether you’ve spoken to the relevant NPC to tie up the quest
Fixed a bug where the selling shrine would display -1 as a price
What's next for Spirittea?
We have some big plans for Spirittea in 2024, so we thought we'd give you a sneak peek of what's to come in the next big update!
Seasonal factors! The changing in seasons is a big part of Spirittea, and we were thinking on how we could make this even better and more immersive. So, we thought, why not make the change in seasons even more obvious?
Now, whenever you're working in the bathhouse, you'll see the environment interact with you even more, depending on the season! In winter, you'll find ice in the baths, in Fall you'll see leaves falling into the baths, and in Spring you'll see Algae growing in them! (We know, more things to clean, sorry!)
Actually, we thought you could use some help with the cleaning, so how about some bathhouse ducks to clean up the Algae? 🦆
A new NPC vendor! The town can never have enough shops and vendors, so we thought we'd add another! This truck will drive through town occasionally, so be sure to be on time when it arrives!
This vendor will sell a bunch of new in-game items, including heaters for the bathhouse to keep your spirits warm during the winter, duck nests so you have ducks in your bathhouse, and more!
Improved character portraits! The characters in Spirittea are a big part of the game, especially considering how much time you spend with them, so we wanted to give them even more life and personality!
We know how much you all connect with these characters, so to make them feel even more human, we revamped their portraits to make sure their personalities really shine through! Now, as you increase your friendships with them, you'll notice their character portraits change the better friends you become with them!

We couldn't finish the year off without putting out another big update, so... that's what we've done!
We're at the point now where the game is getting nice and stable, so we've been thinking a lot about what new content can go in. In fact, new content is already being created!
We have so many wide-ranging, ridiculous ideas, some that are nice little additions, and others that completely change elements of the game for the better. Lots of end-game content ideas too that we think will be a hit. It's likely that Spirittea will look quite different a year from now, if our plans are anything to go by! Here's a little sneak peek of something we've been working on:

We've got some more bug fixes and quality of life improvements for you! We're still going through our list and working on bringing more fixes for you, but we hope this new update will make Wonyan happy at least... moody kitty...
Update 1.5.3 is now LIVE for Spirittea! Here's what you can expect:
Fixed a bug where Leigh won't talk to the player during his quest (when he's not painting)
Fixed a bug where the home cooking UI doesn't recognise the new doubled storage and fridge sizes
Added Juso, Flitt, Lunariss and Avanis as spirits which appear around the town if you’ve completed their quest
Fixed a bug where the "Fall is Coming" painting was appearing EVERYWHERE once up on display
Levelling up while sweeping the bathhouse won't cause bugs with the brooms anymore
The baby boar doesn't move during a loading screen or if time is paused
Fixed a bug where players couldn't get into the tunnel by the temple due to an invisible barrier
Removed the ability to eat as a tanuki, which was causing a soft lock
Fixed a bug where Quill's sand castle wouldn't appear
Fixed a bug where the pamphlet was showing Jillian & Yari's friendship as 0 if they were out of town
Your bike will now appear outside of your home when you sleep or become exhausted, so it will never get lost
The repair kit used to fix the shrine for Bruce's quest will now be destroyed after repairing it 3 times

Julian's knife now has a name!
Cooking elixirs at home now produces 3 of them instead of 1
Ensured that plants regrow their fruits

10 things you might not know you can do in Spirittea!
Hey everyone! We hope you've been enjoying your new mountain homes and have been managing to help all of your new neighbours, both mortal AND immortal!
One of our favourite things we've seen in discord and across social media are people sharing tips and secrets with other people, so we thought we'd share a few of our own!
Here are 10 things you might not know you can do in Spirittea!
1 - Clean up the bathhouse
Fed up of all the dust and grime in your bathhouse? Housing more spiders each day than spirits? In your kitchen... uhh... prep area... there are two brooms - one downward broom and one for your ceiling. These are not just for scrubbing your spirits, but you can also use them to scrub your bathhouse (it's ok, we won't tell the spirits!). Spirits will still arrive if your bathhouse is a mess but... what will Wonyan think?
2 - Chase squirrels for seeds & start growing them!
Looking to start a new hobby alongside your bathhouse? How about chasing squirrels! The squirrels on the mountain near the bathhouse will drop little seed bags if you're quick enough (we're not just doing it to be mean, honest!!) and once you've upgraded your kitchen, you'll be able to grow your seeds in the kitchen garden on the windowsill to the south! What neat cooking ingredients can YOU grow?
3 - Investigate strangely coloured patches of ground
Headed out digging with your favourite townsperson, but not sure where to start? If you use your spirit vision around town, you might see some strangely coloured patches on the ground! I wonder which spirit left those behind? Either way, they seem to be a great way to kickstart your digging adventures, especially with a friend!
4 - Follow the Yellow Poo-Birds
Why do they call them Poo-Birds anyway? The townspeople seem to think they have a keen eye for treasure - they certainly seem to uhh... 'mark' a certain area once you've followed them around enough! I think they say bird poo is lucky?
5 - Harvest ingredients around town
There are SO many foodstuffs around town to include in your cooking, from ugligrass over near the beach to the east to the peppers and pumpkins further north! It's definitely worth investigating what you can pick up around town - you might be suprised at what you can find and what you can use in your cooking recipes! I know a fair few of the spirits are fond of these ingredients too, so you might need them for quests or shrines!
6 - Use bug traps to trap difficult insects
Are there some insects that avoid you at every step? Keep getting whacked by scary beetles with too many legs? Pick up some bug traps from Song's store, set them down in your nemesis' path and see if you can draw them over the traps! Your bug problems will be solved, and your pamphlet will get more full - win win!
7 - Leave offerings at shrines to appease the spirits
If you're looking for more spirits to help, there are four shrines around the map where you can leave various offerings! These are all tied to four particular spirits who seem to have been forgotten and neglected to the townsfolk, so are great guides to both finding more things by exploring the town and picking up a new spirit friend for the bathhouse!
8 - Catch rare fish by taking a friend
Did you know fish spawn more often when you have a friend fishing with you? If you're hunting down specific rare fish, make sure to take a friend to maximise your chances of finding them, and try fishing in some strange places, like near the hot spring!
9 - Steal people's slippers to decorate the bathhouse
The first 'feature' I fell in love with in Spirittea is definitely that people will just ALLOW you to take things from their homes (I'm a bit of a loot goblin!). I always leave these along with the smaller friendship items in the bathhouse as decorations, and honestly, you should too! They really brighten the place up, and you can make these spaces your own!!
10 - Regain some stamina by resting in your home bath
Phew, after such a long list my stamina is running low! If yours is too, you can use the little bath in your house to regain some before you head back out on your adventures!!

Spirittea 1.5.2 Update is NOW LIVE!
Hey everyone!
We really hope you've been enjoying the updates (and fixes) we've been putting out, because we have ANOTHER for you!! Not only that, but we've also been looking to the future of Spirittea and planning what COULD come next!
With that, Spirittea 1.5.2 is now LIVE! It includes:
Separated Miko and Amelia more when they're preparing kimchi in front of the shop in the mornings (this one was especially tough, never get between a lady and her kimchi!!)
Removed using joystick as an option for karaoke minigame as inputs were too inaccurate and we were failing you for no reason (sorry!)
Removed penalty of losing points if you mistime in the karaoke minigame, making it a lot easier
Ensured one-of-a-kind shrine items cannot be sold (making completing the shrines impossible)
Fixed Sora's bug-catching text to use the correct player name
Fixed spirit vision teapot blinking and not resetting after sleeping
Fixed issue where if you close the bathhouse, NPC helpers with towels in the main room will not spawn their towels unless you go to another room and come back. Now the towels will appear where/when they should
Fixed the stinker statue being misnamed sun melon(??)
You're now NOT able to be holding a towel (clean, wet, dirty), open your bag and swap to a different item (resulting in towel ending up in backpack)
The game now checks that there are at least 10 towels (the starting number) available to you in the bathhouse somewhere. If you lose any towels in a shift, they should now reappear!
Added some code for players who collected the bard and prisoner figurine before the bug where they weren't counted as collected was fixed. Now you can get the achievement!
Fixed a bug where player health was below 0, meaning they couldn't move
Fingers crossed that's fixed up even more for you, and we can now start to look up and on to the future!
