Starfighter General

Dimensional Flux Patch II

Yo, first steam pipe update

Patch out finally: Dimensional Flux II

Your sanity matters in Starfighter General.

You have the bars: Health/Thirst/Hunger/Sanity/Stamina. They're not in this patch ;)

But prior to this patch, capital ships roamed around your base that you could not interact with. You no longer hallucinate them.

Also items when you pick em up, you see in the debug log.

I'm trying to get my buddy to give me a Chat window like MMOS have, and he has it done, but hasn't sent me. Then I'll have chat in the next patch.

Estimated Dev Path for future patches:
Patch 3 visions Now that items are in. I probably want to allow you to sell stuff. So selling at stations is probably next, so you can get two new resources $ and credits. $ is about worth 10x credits and fluctuates, $ is physical and can't be traced, while credits are all electronic for better or worse. I'll probably aim at a fun zone to mine asteroids or something for this.

Patch 4 vision: Character creation: Attributes/skills/talents/etc

Patch 5+ Vision: New enemies to fight, Move solar system around you to solve 32 bit limitation on Unity, Spice up Star systems with fun stuff to do, multiplayer code in, attach thrusters and weapons at angles, shoot out sticky thrusters onto enemy ships so they lose stability, FULL MMO tech functionality, quests, live GM... Want random events in clash. Well it will roll out, and it will roll out faster and faster because base foundation tech allows stuff to be built strong on top, pray for us!

Known issues:
1) Not all buildings do stuff in Clash.
2) Upgrading ships sometimes bugs out and you need to restart in Clash.
3) Can't exit dimensional portal, must close Starfighter and resume.
4) etc etc, just hang with me, patches coming out hopefully 2x a week, new fresh stuff, unlike this patch which is basically just cleaning up the first event.

Dimensional Flux Patch 2: Hallucinated Ships Gone

Ok this patch ain't out. It was ready Sunday, but Steam/Valve has an issue with uploading patches temporarily. Just hold your hat. The patch notes as follow:

Dimensional Portal Abberation 1: Capital Flux

In this event, you can get a capital ship schematic by choosing your command center, fly option then Dimensional Portal Event 1:Abberation. It will be hard to obtain, but you'll know it when you pick it up for it will be green and raise up on the screen as seen in the screen shot of this update. You'll then need to bring it back to the International Battle of Champions Speed buy location aka: IBOC Speed Shop, indicated by the red fire box. If you've seen the green thing raise on your screen, open the store, and you now have a capital ship schematic.

Practice opening the IBOC Speed Shop by flying into the cube of flames so you know how to open it. As you defeat enemy drones, they drop scrap which you can use at the IBOC to power up your ship. If things glitch out, just restart the client, the kinks will be worked out over time, no stress.

It's clunky, the UI ain't great, but items are in, and it is a great foundation to build on. I'm giving great rewards to those out to try the game at an early state. You'll see the updates come and get remarkably better each one that comes out until all the mmo techs are in.

Really only one schematic is useful, these are not tradable as most everything else will be.

Enjoy. I'm aiming for 1-2 patches a week.

Overcame two Unity bugs in 110 hours, PATCHES COMING!

Yo, ain't gonna lie, 110 hours in a few weeks is tough! It shows how much I'm committed to getting this out. I finally cracked the code, I basically have to manually copy files over to my standalone. This is not normal for an IDE, but we do this.

Every patch from now on has a good chance of being very fun!

Next patch will be rare, you'll get a chance to get a CAPITAL SHIP Schematic. Yes, open the mmo with a giant capital ship.

This is next patch and I'm dying of sleep deprivation (overly dramatic, I'll live... I think).

I want to get a patch out every week if not two. I need sleep though.

Expect fun! Soon!

But for now, expect me to talk about fun.

Then expect me to sleep.

Unity has several bugs in their software preventing the patch.

I don't want to post this, but Unity has bugs that are preventing me from releasing the patch I wanted to release days ago. This has nothing to do with my code, or my ability, and I don't post things like this unless I know for a fact a problem is not on my end. This is not the first time a product has abysmally failed, I saw the Pentium Bug live. My MMO I was working on in the 90s, went from 486 to a 586 and rounding errors meant I went from a working game to a game I had to fix things by testing ranges. I was told all my life that the computer was never wrong, but it was wrong then.

Unity has a major major major problem with it's new "Scriptable Build Pipeline". Unity is trying to get creative, fancy and overly complicated in how to build standalones. The problem is... It no longer does the absolute most basic case: Just building a Windows.exe out of the Editor version. No lie, I spent 500 absolutely wasted hours trying to get standalones made because of these Unity Bugs in the "Scriptable Build Pipeline", it's not all of the user's fault, it is a complete and utter failure by Unity.

I'm encountering this problem again. I spent over 100 hours, yes 100 hours, just trying to get standalones working for you guys in the past two weeks. Unity has introduced several new bugs. I thought I was close to release today, but I am 10 hours into simply just making a standalone today and I'm exhausted. Unity has brought me to the brink of absolute human exhaustion because I want to get these patches out to you, but their software has so many errors. My code is immaculate. I've been coding & gaming non stop since 1981. My code works perfectly in the Editor. Somehow, Unity is unable to take the editor code and make it into a standalone .exe for you guys to play.

I'm going to beat this challenge. I'll be patching... It's just, I have no clue what is going through Unity's CEO's mind to think it is acceptable to make all these random experimental packages, yet throwing away very core functionality such as: Compile to a .exe standalone. It shouldn't have taken me 5 extra minutes to do this, but it's taken over 500 hours and counting... Despite these absurd challenges that face me from the bad decision making that tech leaders make, I will keep fighting on. I'm going to get you the MMO one patch at a time... It just happens that this patch is being delayed against my control.

It's tough too, this patch coming up allows you to acquire a Capital Ship schematic to start researching and building the Gatlisk, the one with the gatling guns on front.

Please pray for me,
Jim

Server crash restore

I ended up doing something dumb, used the disk space on the server then save game files couldn't save.

I'm restoring from backups, should be super easy fix.

People who have had changes in data since yesterday, I am rewarding premium Triderium virtual goods.

Heh, most companies keep these things on the downlow. I'm honest. This server never ever crashes, like for years. I did something dumb, and I am of the nature that dumb things should be celebrated.

In other news: Hey, trying to get the singleplayer moba out soon, there is a bug in my code with DOTS/ECS that isn't let stuff drop a single time, its dropping multi times often. I might fix it tonight.

Been working many hours most every day on this.

Life is turbulent: A new place again... Part II, trucking through game dev

Life is turbulent: A new place again... Sorry no updates in a while, been moving again, and it is EXPENSIVE to move, but we in inflation by design era and its SO tough to get by, let alone find time to code.

That said:
UNITY DOTS has been upgraded to .50
ITEMS have been databased
If I get a run, I think I have 8 hours before a rough singleplayer moba out.

My major health conditions are mostly gone. Recently I fell down the stairs and my foot is numb and a lil limpy like nerves pinched, but i think I see a chiropractor tomorrow. That should be fine. I have enough money for food now. My place is quite dusty tho, so I gotta do something about that to make it livable.

All in all, we doin better, but I'm still unable to just grind code for long swaths of time. Pray that I can.

MUSIC IS IN! AND MORE OF IT! 80 tracks!

Patch notes:

Sorry bros and gals about the patch delay. I got tripped up on a Unity issue of loading on the fly that they fixed but they didn't have standardized. I'm a huge nerd who likes his small pieces or wire and software architect over product pushing.

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”: A quote by Abraham Lincoln

I dork way too much over software architecting. Instead of my small pieces of wire, I should send you the spaceships. So here's a patch.

We have like 80 new MIDI music files like Super Nintendo and Nes awesomeness!

When you fight tougher bases, harder music is played. Ambiance, and victory music.

I do not have the slider for volume yet, but that will be sometime, let me know if it is a priority for you.

Next patch should be finished MOBA, but who knows.
Last patch had an issue with loading which led to this issue, now this issue is done!

The game is 2 gig larger... Expect this game to get UBER huge as we become a super gigundous game... I want you to invest 30 years playing this game and be stoooooked! So if it takes 8 TB and 100$ hard drive, people will be like,"Jim, you're a genius!" For now its small...

Moba soon, MMORPG soon after.

I'm working research in a science company. Managing the house, the health and praying to God.

Lets get Starfighter General MMORPG out soon, but you'll enjoy this patch!

Trying to get this game done just right... Technical details

I had an update that was going to add 1.2 gb of music, like 40 new songs... But then when the game loaded, it took 36 seconds! I need to find a load on the fly solution.

This whole DOTS/ECS thing that unlocks all your cores, 10-1000x performance is great... But it added about 10 months to the dev process at least and is still slow going... Definitely glad I did it, but MMO could have been out last March.

And HDRP while making great graphics is a huge headache and lowers FPS by 1/3.

All these things are investments in the future and I think the right decisions except HDRP... The estimations on release are skewed because of these new techs, but rest assured, I work on this each day. 4 hrs or so or more.

Single Player Moba End of January coming

Single Player Moba End of January coming, I know the title is self contradictory, but it will be giving us test information for the MMORPG networking engine. This will be game 2 of my challenge to release 4 games in 4 months.

Games:
Throne and Crown->(2d Z-Like) On Steam released Dec 2021
MMORPG engine to its testing phase. Jan 2022
Actual MMORPG and or Intergalactic Bounty Hunter (Teleconferancing RPG) Feb 2022
BattleMon (Augmented reality Android game to do custom quests in parks) Marc 2022

Just slating you guys to know stuff is on pace, development is grand.

I'm fighting through what seems to be hyperthyroidism which is why my health got better when I got covid in early January. Covid slows you down, and I'm already naturally hyperactive, so hyperthyroidism overclocks me just a BIT too much. ;) Hyperthyroidism makes it so stress shuts me down. Even light can be a stressor. Coupled with what seems to be a form of manageable diabetes, I can't eat before bed. So I need to avoid bright lights and not eat after midnight... LOL, leave it at that.

Get hyyyyyped, MMORPG SOOOOOOOON, game getting more fun as we go, some super minor base raid stuff coming in next patch that has the Single player MOBA for trideium (temporary mode).
