These missions give the player a lot of freedom in how to approach the objectives and which units to deploy. In addition, each mission has bonus objectives that increase your local high score.

Mission: Prospect & Protect

The main objective in this scenario is to gather soil samples at various locations by constructing and defending “prospectors”. In order to achieve this, you’ll have to muster a force of mercenaries in your outpost base and venture down into Bug territory.

At the same time, however, relentless Arachnid attack waves are pouring in from the opposite side of the outpost. Losing it will result in certain defeat, so while your expeditionary force takes care of the prospectors, other units must be assigned to defend the wall.

The scenario provides an excellent opportunity to experiment with various compositions of all the new mercenary unit types, both in an offensive and defensive role.

Your final score will be based on how long you managed to survive against the ever increasing attack waves, as well as the amount of hives and nests cleared in Arachnid territory.

Mission: Raiding Inferno

In this mission, mercenaries and M.I. Troopers collaborate to purge an Arachnid-infested sector. The main threat comes from a series of hives that are constantly spewing out attacks.

While your starting base is important for the deployment of new units and infrastructure, the terrain offers various treacherous routes between Bug hives and additional Radio Stations. It is up to you to determine how to best approach the situation.

The Federation cares for the wellbeing of its soldiers and their materiel. Your score will therefore be affected by the amount of losses taken. Careful positioning of your units and a correct response to new Arachnid threats will be vital to achieve a commendable outcome.

Mission: Wildfire

This mission has a strong focus on the new Powered Suit Incinerators and Officer. Together with a flamethrower-equipped Marauder and various support units, they are tasked to exterminate a concentrated Bug infestation.

To accomplish the mission, numerous Brood Nests and Stinger Nests must be eradicated. The operation demands resolute and aggressive tactics due to an increasing influx of Arachnids converging into the sector.

Adding to the challenge, an imminent ash storm threatens to impede reinforcements. Radio Stations sporadically dot the map, but time is scarce, and troops are limited to secure them for an extended duration.

For an outstanding high score, all Nests need to be eradicated as quickly as possible, while additional points can be gained for clearing Bug Hives.

To participate in the beta testing of these new challenge missions, go through the following steps:

  • NOTE: You have to own the Raising Hell DLC
  • Right click on “Starship Troopers: Terran Command” in your Steam Library
  • Click on Properties
  • Click on Betas
  • Click on drop-down menu and select "Beta - Open Beta"
  • Steam should now automatically update the game

Starship Troopers: Terran Command - Open beta v2.6.10

Hi Troopers,

An update is now available on the public open “beta” branch.

The base-game scenario editor has been re-enabled in the beta. Scenario creators are encouraged to give the editor a test run, as some changes were made to the editor in preparation of the DLC release. Note that creating custom scenarios using the Raising Hell DLC content is not yet available, this is planned for after release of the DLC.

Warning: scenarios made on the open beta will not work for people playing on the release branch. Because of that, we have disabled publishing in this build. After release of the DLC in 2 weeks, you will be able to publish these scenarios to the workshop as usual.

We managed to exterminate several bugs based on reports from the previous beta update, special thanks to the testers that took on the fight!

If we broke stuff or you have feedback on the changes, please lets us know by using the in-game feedback form (opened by pressing F11 while in the game), or on our discord’s beta channel.

Breaking FedNet news - live from Gehenna Dev diary #2

Attention, citizens of the Federation! Our mission to keep you informed continues as we explore the depths of the upcoming Raising Hell DLC, revealing new forces joining the battle for Gehenna. For protection of its people and assets, the corporation that exploits Gehenna for its valuable resources has relied on contracted mercenaries. These are tough and battle hardened individuals, often with a background of military experience or have been forged by the unforgiving conditions of isolated human colonies.

Frag Mercs
In our continuing coverage of the Raising Hell DLC, we introduce you to a variety of mercenary unit types. Deploying mercenary units requires Funds: a new unit cap that works similar to War Support but separates Mobile Infantry and Mercenary unit types. For an optimal army composition, you’ll have to find a good mix of both.
Today we will highlight one of the fresh additions to the mercenary roster: the Frag Mercs.

A Flexible Weapon
The Frag Mercs are equipped with a unique weapon capable of toggling between firing fragmentation shells in close combat and launching grenades for longer distance engagements. The former is very effective to pin down waves of Arachnids, while the explosive grenades provide indirect fire support and excel at taking out armored enemies and structures.

Minelaying Abilities
Elite Frag Mercs gain the ability to deploy proximity mines. You can choose between either Frag Mines - which set off a consecutive series of charges when triggered - or Fire Mines - which do what it says on the box: bursting into a blazing fire.
When placed correctly, both mines can have a major impact on the outcome of a defensive engagement.

As we prepare for the release of the Raising Hell DLC, stay tuned to FedNet for more exclusive updates on the front lines of this relentless war.
The Federation remains steadfast in its resolve to protect its interests and citizens, no matter the cost.
