The Scenario Editor goes into Open Beta

Starting today, everyone can download the scenario editor and start making new maps.

It is a very handy tool which allows you to craft maps, script scenario triggers, place units and objects, set environment conditions and a lot more: everything you need to make a scenario like you want it.

How to download the scenario editor

It is quite simple.

- Right click on Starship Troopers: Terran Command in your Steam Library
- Click on Properties
- Click on Betas
- Click on drop-down menu and select "Beta - Open Beta"
- Then Steam should automatically update the game and download the beta

Then all you'll need to do is offer your feedback on the forum or on the Discord channel. Discord is also the place where we are gathering a lot of interesting scenarios that testers already made during the Closed Beta: you're welcome to download them and try them out.

Scenario editor live stream

Furthermore, we have planned a live stream on Twitch with the developers who will show you how to use the editor. You will be able to ask them anything, and it'll be the perfect occasion to learn how to use this tool.

Join us on Thursday November 24 at 4:30 pm GMT on our Twitch channel.

Next? Slitherine

Slitherine Next, the spiritual successor of our Home of Wargamers events, is coming soon.
Save the date: December 13th at 16 pm GMT on Twitch

It'll be the perfect occasion to learn more about upcoming games and get an insight directly from the developers.

It will be 100% live: there will be no pre-recorded segments and we'll have a level of interaction with the players like never before. You'll be able to ask us anything and be answered directly by the developers.

Stay tuned for the full schedule!

The free update Chemical Reaction is out now

Chemical Reaction Update

After a period in Open Beta, we are releasing the Chemical Reaction Update for everyone.

Containing three new scenarios, one new unit type and the target priority setting, this is the largest free update so far.

Let's have a look at its content:

- Three new scenarios, two of which make use of the first incarnation of a new high-score system;
- One new unit type: Chemical Troopers; this unit is currently only available in the new scenarios, but there are plans to include it in future content as well. It's a squad of expert troopers using biochemical weapons, which they use to great effect for exterminating anything with more than two legs;
- The Target Priority setting (TPS); units can be set to prioritize firing at specific enemy types instead of aiming for the nearest target. For instance, if you want to automatically target Spitter Bugs with your Snipers, TPS allows you to avoid that level of micromanagement.

You can find the full changelog here.

The New Missions

Chemical Reaction
Arachnid test subjects have broken out in a chemical lab and are now running amok throughout the facility. You are being sent down with a small squad, including several units of the new Chemical Troopers. While the incident is unfortunate, the situation provides an excellent opportunity to field test their new weapons.

Expanding Gases (Survival mission)
The Mobile Infantry conducted a large field experiment with the new chemical weapons after successful lab trials. They will be used to clear an industrial complex and defend it against endless Arachnid attack waves. Killing bugs will grant "requisition points," which can be used to request new units, open gates to new areas, or increase your War Support. The experiment's success will be determined by how long you survive.

Lethal Propellant
As the Chemical Troopers continue to provide their value on the battlefield, Terran Command has sent them down into a large canyon crawling with Bugs.
Lead them along the rocky trail to clear out all hives, but carefully decide when to push and when to hold: More and more Arachnid hordes are entering the canyon from the rear!

Open Beta Branch

If you are on the Open Beta, you don't need to opt out in order to download the update. You have exactly the same version of the game as players who are not and are now downloading the new update.
In fact we would be extremely grateful if you could stay on the Open Beta branch, because we are going to be needing more testers for future content very soon.

Chemical Reaction Stream

Later this week we are going to showcase the new update and play all the three scenarios live on Twitch.

Join us on Friday November 18 at www.twitch.tv/slitherinetv at 10 pm GMT.

20% off discount

Last but not least, the game is at 20% off until November 21, so if you're still on the fence this would be the best time to get on Kwalasha and join in the war effort. Service guarantees citizenship!

Scenario Editor news

We're looking into preparing a special live stream in which we'll showcase how the scenario editor works, so be on the lookout for that...

In the meantime, in case you missed it, we've made a short video in which we show the scenario editor in action.

Join the Beta for the Scenario Editor! Service guarantees citizenship.

Come on you apes, you wanna live play forever? We're going to wager that the answer to that is "yes".

If you looked at our roadmap you'll know that we have some serious plans for the future of the game. The team is busy with development and they're making real progress - we're looking forward into telling you more, soon.

Today though we're in need of players willing to help us test the first beta version of a highly requested feature: the Scenario Editor.

Scenario Editor Closed Beta

The editor beta will give you full access to the in-game scenario editor, the same tool that was used to create all the official scenario content for the game.

It will also include a few basic example scenarios that provide a starting point for your own creations or a means to learn how the trigger system works. Beta testers will also be in direct touch with the developers to provide help and tips on how to use the editor.

As a beta tester you’ll be allowed to share your custom scenarios publicly on the STTC Discord channel or through any other means or platforms of your own choosing. Steam Workshop support will not be available from the start but we are considering to add this in a future update.

You can register for the editor beta here. Please note that if you previously applied to any of the old betas for the game you will need to re-apply.
