STLD Redux: Episode 02

[Weapons Tips] before Tutorial.

Hey guys, it's been a minute I know.

Most people play the game without knowing that I've designed just about every weapon in episode 02 with a little side quirk, or cool ability! Here's a list of what they all are. Hopefully this can tide you over while I work on the tutorial.



The Special ( Machine gun )

Has an accelerator property that gains a damage multiplier the longer the fire button is held.



The Rattle Snake ( Shotgun )

Has a 35% chance to inflict a bleeding effect on enemies. Zombies will bleed to death over time.


The Lemat Revolver

( Has an Alternate fire that acts as an extremely deadly shotgun. )


Rocks

can be used to Stun cultists



Sailfish Repeater

- When holding the "SPRINT" while stopped you can aim the sailfish for continuous headshots. ( Deals critical damage when landed on cultists )



Bear Trap

- Undetectable by cultists.



Lantern

- can potentially kill as many zombies as a land- mine
and can be lobbed explosively at the tower.

Bug Lamp

***SECRET ( is extra useful as a trap if dropped in a certain spot )



Shovel

- Generally the most mundane melee weapon, but has high reach.

**PWR ATTACK = A smash swing that deals extreme damage at the cost of durability. ( I'll explain how to use PWR ATTACKS at the bottom. )

( can also be used in a secret spot to dig up the magic

Magic Charm

)




Mace

- Has a 20% chance to decapitate zombies.

PWR ATTACK - Every time this ability is used the Mace gains +3 damage permanently, it also makes the Mace immune to durability loss for 8 seconds.





Combat Knife

. The Knife can deal serious damage if used on enemies who are turned with their back facing you.


PWR ATTACK - The knife gains Flurry and can swing 3 times as fast for a limited time. The knife has a higher chance to cause zombies to recoil during a flurry attack as well.



PWR

attacks can be performed while using melee weapons. To do one you'll need 3 orbs on the PWR meter. After that: Hold "SPRINT" button down and press the "ATTACK" button. You must not be moving to perform a PWR attack.

I'm still working on the tutorial. And it's coming along but it is not finished yet. I'm taking this time to also add and fix some things that have been on my list for some time now. I think it will actually be a pretty exciting update even if you don't want to do the tutorial.

A side shout out and thanks to Vyper2040, I know the game is a bit difficult to learn at first and may have a bug here and there, but it's awesome players like you that keep me motivated to continue the repairing and adding content to make this everything we want it to be.

So in about the last month or so 4 people have mentioned Achievements, I used to love hunting them on games with my brother. This is definitely and always was planned for STLD. I had some time while I was on a train yesterday to type out a list of what the first set of Achievements would be. There's nearly 50 listed. I'll try to have those achievements ready within the next month.

Tutorial Progess Part 4 !! [ Design , News ]

Hey there guys! I've been working when I can. I realize I keep mentioning this tutorial like it's exciting stuff, when you guys probably have all played the game enough to understand the basics. But regardless it's coming along. I'm out of the graphical stage and into the programming mostly so it shouldn't be too long now. Here's a screenshot ( Beta'esc )



I'll be adding these in to familiarize the user depending on how they prefer the controls :

Some side news, starting to sketch out templates for future character designs here's a shot of the work for fun. I'm pretty tired of the proportions I made for characters in this game ( gigantic heads with little bodies ) But hey, as Jake Paul would say.. Flip it.




The females still a rough sketch, I really was trying to work out the male for some new possible characters in the universe. Anyway if you guys are interested I'll post more of this stuff later on down the road.

I'll be working to finish the tutorial as soon as I can. There will also be some minor alterations to game-play mechanics in the same patch, which I will mention in the update announcement .

Tutorial Progess Part 3 . [ More Design , News , Summer Sale ]

Hey.

Without going into details this has been a difficult work week. I've been squeezing things in, I'd say assets for the tutorial stage are around 80% completion. I'll work more on it when I can. Here's a sneak peak at what's been done lately, it should be pretty cool when all is said and done.

[News!] & June 12th Work week layout.

Hey there!

Here to get some News on the project out to you and to let you guys know what's up and the order of things on the menu for STLD as of now.

This week I'm diving back into development for the game, Amber's voice effects are just about there, and I will consider them absolutely finished as soon as I tone down the character remarks after kills. It's a little tricky to get her to talk just enough but not too much.

I'm kind of excited in a weird way about the tutorial, I'm simply going to call it "Learn" and put it as an optional choice on the main menu. It will not be cannon to the story but will instead focus solely on getting the players foot in the door with the core gameplay and controls of STLD. Disthron left a pretty heated review on the controls and the folks at "Save or Quit" despite being overall positive about the game mentioned that it had issues as well.....

I don't want you guys to think I'm not listening. I've been racking my brain on how to make the game easier to pick up and understand for everyone. I think with the tutorial and some slight changes made to the way Amber interacts with the environment it should help stop some players from getting tripped up on the way things work. This week I'll be focusing mainly on these two aspects.. Let's call it a precursor to the patch. So that is:

- Buidling the tutorial

and

- Tweaking gameplay so it ( hopefully ) controls easeir.

New Section added to the Faq!



If you're ever curious about what it takes to earn tokens or skeleton keys, you can now consult the FAQ. This goes into detail on just how many kills you need after death for tokens, along with how those elusive skeleton keys can be earned more than once. The FAQ is still nowhere near done.. As previously mentioned I'll do my best to update it whenever I can.
