In the clouds, high above the surface, lies the legendary city of Acropolis—a realm of gods, scholars, and storms. For ages, Acropolis stood as a beacon of wisdom and wonder, but now the once-grand city is fractured by a raging storm. Adrasteia, the Storm, has seized control, leaving behind a trail of lightning and despair. Yet, hope lingers in the air as Leuce, the spirit of the city itself, calls out to those brave enough to save her and restore the glory of Acropolis.
Welcome to StoneJam 7!
We’re excited to bring back this community event and see what everyone creates.
For this StoneJam, players are encouraged to create submissions related to Acropolis, the floating city in the sky. Acropolis is home to many odd streets and wondrous artifacts. Here are just a few of the locations you’ll encounter:
Leuce’s Courtyard: At the heart of the University of the Moon, the white tree Leuce stands wounded, her roots sickened and her Moonbloom wilting. Restoring her to health could be the key to healing Acropolis itself.
University of the Moon: Built around Leuce to study advanced alchemy. Constructs guard the building and its many books after Adrasteia sacked and imprisoned all its patrons.
Storm Street: Once a bustling marketplace, now a rain-soaked ruin beneath Adrasteia’s Thundering Fortress. Slickrock gangs patrol the alleys, while the city drowns in endless storms.
The Cistern Arena: Deep beneath the city, the Slickrocks hold brutal combat games to appease their twisted leader, Mossy Meldra. Will you fight for glory?
The Fairweather Faire: A festival amidst the turmoil! As Acropolis crumbles, the citizens host a bizarre carnival, where fortunes turn with the wind: Strange games, odd performers, and perhaps even allies hide among the crowd.
Stonehead Factory: In the heart of Adrasteia’s Thundering Fortress lies the Stonehead Factory, where an endless clang of gears and whirring claws assemble her nightmare army.
The Grand Treasury: Deep within the fortress is the Grand Treasury, where gold and treasures flow from the Stream of the Silent.
Acropolis is still taking form, and YOU have the chance to help shape it! Perhaps you picture a smoky tavern full of shifty figures? Maybe a museum of monsters and mischief?
Will your story bring healing to its wounds, or will the city fall further into chaos? Shape the future of Acropolis and its inhabitants through Stonescript.
It’s been quite some time, but we’re happy to announce that StoneJam makes its return on September 18!
StoneJam has been a wonderful way for the community to create scripts, mini-games, utility features, animations, cosmetics, and so much more using Stone Story RPG’s in-game scripting language, Stonescript. StoneJam 7 will take place from Wednesday, September 18 to Monday, September 30. The theme this time around will be centered around the floating city of Acropolis, the legendary city of gods, scholars, and storms.
Players are invited to craft cosmetics, stories and minigames inspired by the various districts and ancient wonders of Acropolis, such as:
Leuce’s Courtyard
University of the Moon
Storm Street
The Cistern Arena
The Fairweather Faire
Stonehead Factory
The Grand Treasury
These are just some of the locations to be featured in Acropolis, but the city is large and sprawling! Any new areas or parts of the city you can envision, the Dark World is yours to shape.
Submissions are open to anyone and everyone, and the themes are only meant to serve as guidance. However, if your submission sticks to the theme you could potentially receive higher rewards as well as the opportunity to help shape the world design of Stone Story RPG's next big additions like Acropolis, which will soon be making its long-awaited appearance in-game!
Are you a mobile user? Stonescript look too intimidating? Check out the links below to help make mobile Stonescripting an easier experience:
Within the rotted bark and branches of Xyloalgia, the wicked Poena emerges once more.
From 8/29 to 9/8, the Danger in the Woods Event will be live in Stone Story RPG. Poena brings her terrifying presence to the game as a Phase 2 in the Xyloalgia fight. Crafty adventurers would do well to carefully consider their strategy when facing the Mistress of Punishment.
Be mindful of Poena’s Mirror mechanic: any debuff inflicted upon Poena will be reflected back to its source.
All runs in Deadwood Canyone for the duration of the event will yield 2x loot!

Like previous events, you’ll complete in-game objectives to earn points that move you along the reward track. We want to celebrate with you, so we’ve added even more rewards!
Beastiary Added
In this update we’re also adding The Beastiary to the game. Thank you to our community for naming it and helping with its design!
We’d like to do a special shoutout to Incoherent Toast, who created the first version of the Beastiary during Stone Jam 6. (Link) Toast has been a longtime valued community member and is now even part of the open-source initiative.
The Beastiary has been one of our most requested features; we hope you enjoy filling it out! All players will receive it upon updating the game.
Leaderboards Reset
In this update, leaderboards have also been reset. Can you make it back to the top?
Stone Story RPG Retrospective
Let's take a look back at the past 10 years of SSRPG's development:
Early TIGS posting
Stone Story RPG began as the brainchild of creator and lead developer, standardcombo. With years of experience in mobile gaming and animation, he blended the two with a heavy dash of Candy Box to create a unique ASCII art incremental game. Development communication at this time was largely on the TIGS forums as the game’s many systems were iterated and polished.
Check out standardcombo’s previous ASCII game, Pyramid Builder! Much of the core visual design to Stone Story was defined here. (Link)
Early Access
After 5 years of development, the game launched into Early Access on August 8, 2019. The game was out, but the project was far from over. Stone Story RPG has continued to receive major content updates, seasonal events, and further polishing.
Awards for SSRPG!
Stone Story released to quite a positive reception! Players were intrigued by the text-based animation, the hauntingly hypnotic soundtrack, and the deceptively simple gameplay.
The team was humbled to be considered for various awards, traveling to Tokyo where it won four indie awards at Tokyo Game Show, as well as the UK where it won Best RPG at the TIGA Games Industry Awards.
Major Updates
The next few years saw bugfixes, balance patches, and new content updates like adding the quest system in the Quest Update and upping the game’s difficulty in the Yellow Update.
Mobile Launch
After a few years on PC, the game received F2P mobile ports; first on Android then on iOS. This greatly boosted the game’s reach all across the world! We’re still growing and doing our best to make the best game for as many players as possible.
Upcoming Plans
Stone Story RPG is far from over. We’ve got a lot of plates spinning right now, like the animated trailer, Green Difficulty, Part 2, and a whole lot of other stuff we’re not ready to share just yet! We’ve hit every milestone for our 2024 roadmap and plan to do the same for 2025!
We can’t wait to finally reveal everything we’ve been planning and working on. Until then, thank you as always for your continued support.

Reworking the Blade of the Fallen God
The development team has been hard at work on a number of different things! One of those is a design change for the Blade of the Fallen God.
When we first released the Blade of the Fallen God we designed it to be powerful, where the Smite buffs you gain interact with your other weapons.
We were perhaps naive about the importance of debuffs in later updates and did not consider how adding more debuffs and easier ways of applying debuffs to the game would affect the overall power of the BFG. Since then we have added two very impactful items, the Aether and Fire Talismans.
These items make it possible to debuff all foes in the game consistently and a large number of times, without sacrificing either of your equipment slots. Combined with the original design of the BFG/Smite and the normal ways to apply debuffs this has made the Blade of the Fallen God grow wildly out of balance.
The problem is that Blade of the Fallen God has become the dominant late-game item, where Smite damage overshadows all other tactics. This hinders our future ability to continue expanding the game with new items and new strategies. Furthermore, any new items added will continue to make Smite even more dominant.
This powerful artifact is a favorite among many of you, and we want to make sure any updates we roll out enhance your gameplay experience in the best possible way.
We have made a few changes to the Blade that we would like to share with you:
The activated ability animation is now 1.4 instead of 2 seconds.
The activated ability damage now only scales with star levels and is unenchantable.
The activated ability now grants Smite stacks on hit, instead of on kills.
The Smite stack limit is now enchantable and increases the number of Smites you get per foe hit.
Smite now deals flat damage instead of scaling with stack size.
Smite buffs are reset upon ability activation.
The Smite stack decreases by 1 each time Smite damage is dealt.
With these changes, we hope that the BFG can remain a powerful item to supplement your playstyle or as a key part of the strategy while allowing the metagame to evolve in other directions as we add more items.
Before we push these changes into the main game, we would love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Help us test the rework of the Blade of the Fallen God by joining our beta discussions on the Discord server:

Stone Story RPG's Hamartia Event Returns
An odd wind blows once again-- Stone Story RPG’s Hamartia Event returns! From now until June 16, participate in the limited in-game event!
For the Hamartia Challenge, the game’s bosses will gain new resistances (while some will gain new weaknesses). Use the Sight Stone to aid you, but don’t get too comfortable: every day at noon (local time) these attributes change.

While boss immunities are random each day, they are the same for all players. Collaborate with others on the Steam community forums or the official Discord server to efficiently tackle these goals!
For the duration of the event, rerolling enchantments will cost 90% less Ki. Use this opportunity to experiment with each new day of rotating boss resistances.
We're also excited to share that we've added a few new systems and QoL features to the game:
Players will now have access to a cloud save system for easy backups and transfer of save data between devices
Leaderboards were implemented a few patches ago and have now been reset! Leaderboards are no long coupled with offline farm times and will thus score differently.
