The Foundation Update Beta is coming on June 17th!
Hello everyone! It’s been a while since we posted our last news here. But we have some great news to share with you today!
Update ahoy! The Foundation Update beta is coming June 17th!
We are happy to say that we are finally able to bring you the (now called) Foundation Update to Stranded Sails on June 17th in a beta version. This will be your chance to get in touch with the new content for Stranded Sails and give us your final feedback on all the new things we added.
And everyone will be able to play the beta version of the update - no strings attached! :)
All the new things you can look forward to!
Improve your relationship with your crew to unlock useful perks that will help you on your adventure!
New decoration system! You can now enter your crew members shacks and decorate their insides, which will improve your relationship with each of them!
Small gifts keep the friendship alive You can now find gifts during your adventure! Gifting those to your crew members will unlock new decorative pieces for your collection, which will in turn allow you to decorate their shacks even more creatively!
Find new activities! Explore to find one of six new activities in different areas on the islands. Engaging with these activities will reward you with Shiny Plunder, a valuable resource you need to be able to decorate your crew members shacks!
Last but not least: new outfits! Unlock unique outfits by completing sets of new collectibles scattered throughout the world!

The Forgotten Land will be released on June 25!
The Forgotten Land is an exciting turn-based "Combat & Puzzle Match 3" with streamlined RPG and Management elements in a dark fantasy setting. Set up a sheltering camp, improve your heroes' abilities and unlock tactical bonuses.
Show your combat skills! In turn-based battles you have to outwit your opponents' tactics, thwart their chances for counterattacks and cleverly use the special powers of your team.
Level up to new strenghts! Grow along your journey. Develop your team and improve your heroes' individual abilities!
Last week we introduced a new feature with the help of which you'll soon be able to improve our relationship to your crew members, and we also showed you what kind of bonuses and upgrades you may unlock that way!
Today we'll give you a little sneak peek at how you can delight you crew members with little gifts come the next update. (As always, everything on display here is work in progress and subject to change during the course of development!)
Small gifts keep the friendship alive
Basically, it's just as simple as you imagine: You may give gifts to your crew members by interacting with them and selecting the Gift option from the dialogue menu. You can choose from many different gifts you may find by exploring and other activities in the game!
But they won't be happy about any odd gift! You can tell from their reaction whether they like your gift or not. Each and every character has their own preferences, and it's up to you to find out what sort of gifts they really like.
It's a game of give and take
It's not just nice giving gifts to your crew members, it also pays off! As a reward for your generosity you will receive new decorations and furniture you may use for your shacks. There are even unique gifts you may give away. Those will really delight your crew members even more and they will give you something very special in return, too. But let's not spoil the fun ;)

Update Sneak Peek: New Relationships!
Hey everyone! We’re back with sneak peek into the features of the next update for Stranded Sails - Explorers of the Cursed Islands! This time: improving your relationship with the crew members!
(Please remember, everything shown here is work in progress and still subject to change!)
A friend in need is a friend ideed!
Relationships are a new gameplay feature in Stranded Sails - Explorers of the Cursed Islands. You can improve your relationship with the crew members by helping them to settle on the Cursed Islands and decorate their houses with decoration and furniture of their favourite styles!
It’s crucial to find out what kind of gifts everyone likes to unlock new decoration pieces and which decoration style they’d love to have in their houses to successfully improve the relationship with your crew members!
Show them you care for them - and they will care for you, too!
There are four different relationship milestones you can reach with each of your crew members, from “Thankful” to “Happy”. And every unlocked milestone will also grant you new perks and bonuses that will help you a lot while exploring, farming and gathering! And as different the needs of your crew members are, as different are the bonuses they grant, too! So, it definitely pays off to improve your relationship with everyone. :)
And maybe… when you took care of every crew member, something special could happen!
Let’s take a look at our dear friend and farmer: Fiola!
Along with the new relationship feature comes a new user interface that shows you details about your relationship with a crew member, the milestones you have reached, their favourite items you already discovered and more!
For example, here you can see the different milestones you can unlock with Fiola plus every bonus they grant. We already unlocked the Milestone “Thankful” and the perk “Energizing Stew”! You can also see what kind of perks await you at the higher milestones and these perks are unique to Fiola. Fritz, Cecille and the other crew members will help you all in their own ways once you improve your relationship with them!
The new UI will also keep track of the favourite items you gifted them, their favourite styles for their home decoration and the decoration styles you unlocked. Best friends know each other and the UI will help you with that!
Take your friendship to the next level!
With the new relationship gameplay we have added a whole new layer to Stranded Sails - Explorers of the Cursed Islands and we hope you’re as excited about it as we are. Improving your friendship with the members of your crew will unlock all-new perks that will help you considerably on your journey, and every little helps! New activities await you with the next update. But this is a story for another time.

Weekly News: A short progress update!
Hello everyone! I’m back with a short status update on our (remote) work.
Work on the next update continues
I’m happy to share the news that
work on the decoration elements is close to completion...
… as well as the new NPC animations!
the concept of 8 new [REDACTED] is done
we made progress on the rewards you will get for improving your relationship with crew members.
the NPCs will no longer stay only in their fixed places.
Stranded @ Home: Robert sends his greetings!
It’s week number two since we changed to remote work in our teams. And this time, Robert sends a message from his home office:
“Hey all, I hope you’re doing well. I still have to adapt to Home Office work, especially since I’m used to working in the office together with my colleagues everyday. But I will get used to the new situation! I currently work at home from my kitchen with a great view of my garden. Two squirrels call my garden their home at the moment and it’s fun to see them running around! I call them Chip and Chap (Chip’n Dale for those of you who get it!). Working under such new circumstances can be stressful at times but a big cup of tea always calms me down! But I have to go back to work now -- my daughter needs attention!

Work from Home Office and the console update is near!

Home sweet Home Office
As you surely know, the current situation with the Corona pandemic is very serious and it’s up to everyone to take precautions to #flattenthecurve and stop the virus from spreading too fast. That’s why we at rokaplay and Lemonbomb decided to work remotely. We are happy to say that we are able to work nearly uninterruptedly this way so work on the next update for Stranded Sails continues and we try our best to keep you updated about on our progress!
Stranded @ Home: on a personal note
It’s quite a time right now (in Germany). Things developed fast and so the decision to work from home came about pretty fast too. Working from home as a social media and community manager is something I’m already used to. But right now, being able to work from home - or anywhere else - is not ‘just a benefit’ of our jobs but something that allows us to let the show go on! And until I can return to my rokaplay office, my private desk will be my office:
But don’t think I work alone while we are separated: we are doing daily video calls and stay in touch through every means that are available to us: Skype, Discord, social media channels, smoke signs, morse code - you name it. And I want to invite all of you to join our discussion on our Discord channel: discord.gg/rokaplay This is the reality we are living in right now. In any case, we are trying to do our work and live our everyday lives as good as possible under the current circumstances. Maybe this is a good chance to share more from us while we stay at home and keep the distance. :)

Recently many of you asked when the exploration update will hit the console versions of Stranded Sails. We are happy to share the news that it’s only a matter of days right now! The update has already been submitted. It has to be green lit for each and every console. We will spread the news as soon as the update is live. So please bear with us for this final stretch of waiting!
Maybe a new time-lapse will kill a little bit of time. Enjoy!

New Crew Relationship Teaser
Hi everyone! We are back with a sneak peek on our work-in-progress for the next update.
Update on the decoration system
First of all, we are making great progress with the development of the decoration system! Both the placement, pick-up and movement of the decoration is well advanced in development as well as the new decoration menu. We have no new images at this moment but it shapes up to be a great new feature for Stranded Sails and we hope you're looking forward to it.

Breathing new life into relationships
As you may know from the news of last week, we are working on an update for the relationship management with your crew. New animations breathe more life into every crewmemeber and you will be able to improve your friendship with every crewmember. We can't go into detail here how you will be able to improve your friendship with a character but we can already show you a sneak peek from the art department: [Picture shown above shows work-in-progress and is subject to change!]
Your relationship status will be represented in the UI with different picutres of the npc character. You're already familiar with Fiola! Here you see her getting happier the more the relationship with her improves. It's important to go along well as a stranded crew and improving the bond to your crew is going to be... rewarding! ;)

More teaser on crew housing!
Hi everyone!
First of all, thank you all for your enthusiasm for the next update. It's great to see you’re looking forward to more new content for Stranded Sails - Explorers of the Cursed Islands. And rest assured that we are currently working hard to make it happen! :)
And because of that, we’d like to give you a new sneak peek at the new stuff and keep you on top of things. Last time we announced the addition of crew housing and decorations. Thanks to this new feature, you will be able to enter the houses of your crewmember and decorate the interior with furniture and decorative items. Below you can see what furniture may look like in the game and more. But please note that everything shown here is still in development and not representative of the final product Alright? Alright!
Placing Decorations
First of all, we are working on the decoration system and decoration placement, trying to make it as easy as possible for you to place your deco. You can even rotate decorations and place certain items on top of other decorations!
Furniture Design
We know you can't decorate houses when there’s no furniture! That's why we are working on a set of new furniture in different styles that you may use to design rooms to your heart’s content. Take this set, for example, we’re currently designing:
What you see here is a piece of furniture, concept art on the left, 3D asset on the right. Which crewmember do you think would like this sort of thing the most? :D We want to give you as many decoration options as possible and this is just a small part of it. Keep your eyes for more pics of new deco and furniture elements!
New Crew Character Animations
And, last but not least, we have another small teaser for you:
The crew will get new animations! This will make them even more expressive and they can react to certain things in more different ways. What are we going to use the new animations for? Why is Fritz flexing his muscles? Well, that’s something we’ll be talking about in another newsflash! Until then, how do you like what you've seen here? Share your thoughts in the comments! :)

We all have played many games with great housing gameplay elements starting from The Sims, to Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley. Every game offered a different experience and many players have different expectations what a game has to offer if they allow house building and interior design! And this is why we want to know more about your experience with housing in games!
What motivates you to build and decorate homes in games?

Or do you have an anecdote story of yourself what you like or dislike about housing in games?
