Update 1.02 is now live! Energy balance changes and bug fixes.
Changes:
- Added a buff that removes the energy cost of walking and reduces the energy cost of sprinting while it is active. This buff is gained from sleeping and waking up in the morning and will last until nightfall.
Dev Notes: We made this change to make walking and exploration feel less punishing, addressing a lot of feedback we got in this regard. We are aware that this change might make food less necessary for exploration and we will be addressing this issue in a future update.
- Increased sprint speed.
Dev Notes: We increased the sprint speed to give the sprint more value and encourage you to use it more, in turn incentivising you to farm, cook, carry and eat food.
- Rebalanced energy costs of many actions to compensate for the now “free” walking.
Bugfixes:
- Fixed an issue with the Collector achievement, which required an item only available in the Prologue to be completed. If you have collected all items required for the Collector achievement, collecting any item should now unlock the achievement.
Developer Notes:
We are aware of all of your feedback and we are working hard on improving Stranded Sails. This update is only the first step on the way of making it a game most of you will enjoy playing. We are working on improving the general balance of energy, farming and food. Our goal is to make exploration feel fun and rewarding as well as farming and cooking to be “worth it”. We hope you stay with us on this journey.

Update 1.01 - Savegame Bug Fix and Future Energy Rebalancing
The savegame-bug should now be fixed!
After the release of Stranded Sails, many player encountered a problem, that corrupted their savegame after saving their progress manually.
Thank you for voicing out the issue! We worked on a fix ASAP and we were able to identify the issue and it should be fixed with the most recent update.
You should now able to save manually and load your savegame without the risk of corrupting your savegame. However, you have to start a new game if your savegame has been corrupted previously. We are really sorry for any inconvenience but once you updated the game, the bug should be gone for good.
We tested the game internally but with the invaluable help of you, our community we were able to identify and fix this critical bug that slipped through!
We are really sorry about the disappointment this caused and we hope that you're finally able to go on and enjoy your adventure.
We are working on the rebalancing of the energy system!
Another point of criticism we hear loud and clear is the energy system in Stranded Sails - especially the fact that you lose energy from basic actions like walking/running.
We're trying hard to implement a change to the energy balance within the next 24h to address your feedback regarding the energy costs of walking, especially in the early game.
The upcoming changes will be an ad-hoc solution that should relax the issue for now. But we are looking into more and better options to improve the gameplay regarding the energy management!
Be assured that we hear all of your feedback, both positive and negative, and we listen to reviews and comments closely! We are open for more feedback, so feel free to share your experience with us!

We are currently investigating an issue affecting the save game mechanic, which can cause your save game files to become corrupted.
As far as we know at this point, it is possible for the animated save game icon (the writing quill sometimes appearing in the bottom right corner of your screen) to become stuck. We are positive that, once this happens, the game will no longer save properly. If you observe this behaviour in your game DO NOT LOAD YOUR SAVE FILE OR SAVE MANUALLY. Instead, close the game without manually saving, and restart it.
In the meantime we DEACTIVATED the manual save game mechanic. (Update required). After fixing these issues we’ll activate the manual save game mechanic, of course.
We are currently working hard to fix this bug but we can't say exactly when we will find it yet. What's important:
PLEASE AVOID SAVING MANUALLY AND ESPECIALLY AVOID OVERWRITING AN EXISTING SAVE GAME FILE WITH A MANUAL SAVE.
Please don’t be irritated with an inaccurate playtime display within your save game file. It is possible that the time is not correctly displayed, although this should only be a visual bug.
We are really sorry if this issue has caused you any inconvenience. We ensure you that we are doing our best to identify and fix these issues as soon as possible!

The standalone prologue is not a stripped-down version of the complete game. It tells its own story that takes place one day before your fateful journey. The prologue gives you a better understanding of what life will be like as an adventurer in the full game and you get to know the main game categories and mechanisms. It is available for Windows PC only.
Choose your preferred language from 10 translations. We hope your native language is among them!
Before you embark on your adventures, consider the following vital tips:
- Plant diverse crops and don't forget to water them!
- Cook tasty food and equip yourself with sufficient meals on your travels!
- Always keep an eye out for new seeds and ingredients (especially in hidden chests)!
- Explore the world for an abundance of "treasures" by foot or boat and don't be scared
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a streamer or active on YouTube, there is no embargo on the prologue. You can report it immediately. Only keep in mind that the prologue is exclusive to our community!

On Thursday, October 10th, the time has come! Many of you have been eagerly waiting for the release of the prologue (demo) to our game Stranded Sails. We've developed the prologue exclusively for our community separatedly from the main game. The prologue isn't just a stripped-down version of the full game, but has its own story that takes place before the plot in Stranded Sails.
It gives a good insight into the game and its categories as well as mechanics to get a feel of the full game. Like the full game, the prologue is available in 10 languages. We hope that you'll be able to enjoy the game in your native language.

Standalone Prologue coming soon!
We are really giving everything we have to release the prologue prior to the PC and console release. It is not a snippet of the full version of the game, but a standalone game with its own story. The prologue is like a separate prequel to the main game. It gives an insight into the main gameplay mechanics and categories. For this reason the prologue has to be developed and tested separately, which is a bit more time consuming. We are very sorry to keep you waiting, but the prologue is coming soon! And it’s coming before we hit the PC and console release!
