Deleted more unused files, mostly of the car dealer.
Merged many duplicate files (all in use), mostly for the city, but also some cars - reduced memory usage, faster loading, fewer stutters!
Police
Escape is now counted as soon as all chasers have been lost, rather than 10 seconds later. This is like older versions of SL1.
Game crash upon starting a race with the police chasing should be fixed now. If it still happens on your end, please let us know!
Police cars no longer use performance attributes from SL2; In SL1, grip and top speed were slightly lower. With the lower grip, they are easier to push around now.
Fixed police cars not getting deformed by impacts.
Misc
Fixed a missing texture on the shop #4 exterior.
Fixed some misapplied manufacturer logos.
Tweaked volume & range of some impact SFX.
Patched oversized rear end collision mesh of the Axis.
Fixed wrong material properties of Ninja rear bumper 2.
New features and additional police improvements to come! Stay tuned! :)
Update Dec.14.2023
Deleted 1092 unused files.
Optimized most meshes and a couple textures - faster loading, fewer stutters, smaller filesize!
Total install size has been reduced by over 10%!
These are long-overdue tasks which should've been done before release (but you know, deadlines and such :D). There will be another such janitorial update soon, and then we'll be back to more interesting stuff!
Stay tuned! :)
Update Dec.10.2023: Laps from the past!
Garage
Added 'sell all parts' function.
Added an option to auto-install parts immediately after repair.
Hotkeys for repair/install are no longer exclusive to first person mode. Enable the option above, and rebuild faster by spamming the repair hotkey in combination with the enter key!
More intuitive button arrangement for the 'you can't drive this car because X' dialog.
Test Track
Best 1/4 mile speed is now saved, and can be viewed in CarInfo.
Added the short lap test around the hill from the oldest versions of SL1, later removed when the test track was expanded. Results of this test are also saved, and can be viewed in CarInfo.
Yotta
Raised the F2 camera, to keep the car from obscuring view.
More to come! Enjoy and stay tuned! :)
Update Dec.09.2023
Fixed possible game crash upon pausing.
Update Dec.08.2023: 4K Text Fix!
Text/interface
Text is no longer tiny at 4K & 1440p resolutions.
Replaced 'medium' font, no longer an abomination mix of SL1 & SLRR assets.
Fixed speed & gear text not disappearing for first person driving (with the relevant setting enabled), if tach font setting has been changed during that session.
Fixed non-digital tach font lacking subtle coloring.
Added an option to disable the damage indicator.
Added an option for metric speed (OSD only).
Test track 1/4 mile test now displays your finishing speed.
Fixed game crash upon right-clicking photo mode OSD items while inside a shop.
Scroll inputs are no longer accepted by garage & dealer while any dialog is open (inventory won't scroll when scrolling catalog pages, car selection won't change while scrolling financial tab, etc...).
CarInfo financial tab now scrolls 1 item at a time when using the scroll wheel, rather than 10 at a time. This will be much easier to keep track of.
Interface-related options now have their own page in the options menu, rather than being under advanced options. There weren't enough such options to warrant their own category when these menus were originally designed :D
Cars/parts
Cars now always come with a driver's seat at the dealer, so they're always driveable as purchased, just like in the original game.
16" wheels (and therefore drag tyres) can now be installed on Furrano, Naxas and Whisper. This is like older versions of SL1, where they were considered as 21", therefore were compatible.
Shiny shock surfaces now accept unique envmaps.
Added a new set of "drag racing" shocks, designed to assist wheelies (low rebound damping), available at shop #3! These shocks will help you pull a slight wheelie for better 0-60 times, and they have plenty of bump damping, to survive some show-off too! Performance in turns will be compromised, however!
Misc
Improved loading screen hiding scripts - should solve rare cases of infinite loading.
Plugged some camera rail editor playback memory leaks.
More to come! Enjoy and stay tuned! :)
Update Nov.21.2023: Comfort Package!
Cars/parts
Window glass materials of Teg, Remo and Codrac now match those of other cars.
Fixed an obvious windshield gap on the Remo.
Moved Furrano seats 2mm forward, to stop clipping into rear window.
Creature comforts
Fixed/improved driver's hand and/or seating positions for all cars; Steering wheels are all held correctly, elbows won't go through windows anymore, and all seating positions now look adequately comfortable.
Moved back the front seats of ST9 and Yotta, to make more space for the driver.
Driver's head won't clip through the door glass or roof anymore.
Driver's hands and arms won't shake anymore.
Misc
Renamed traffic density levels according to older SL1 versions, to encourage playing with less traffic, for more competitive racing.
Patched a startup crash arising from failure to detect proper display resolution.
More-extreme wear at damage level LOW, with EXTREME WEAR MODE enabled.
Slightly increased chassis damage taken by opponents.
Added a hint to drive away to find another racer after an opponent declines challenge.
Garage part filter buttons now light up to indicate active filtering.
More to come! Enjoy and stay tuned! :)
Update Nov.10.2023: To the EXTREME!
In short
New challenge, many vehicle fixes, new options, shop 2 finally complete!
What's new
Extreme Wear Mode A new way to play! How gentle can you be? In this mode, aggressive driving will wear out parts much quicker - use new driving strategies to keep yourself from returning to the garage! Besides tyres, you'll now have to give frequent maintenance attention to brakes and various engine parts, and worn shocks & springs may finally make themselves known!
Enable it under GAME OPTIONS for a new level of challenge!
Cars/parts
Fixed suspension arm positioning of ST9.
Fixed & brought back the original Zed stock rear bumper, with the grill, now appearing on cars generated at the dealer, used by the opponents, and replacing the previous variant in the catalog. Already owned bumpers remain as they were, and can be rebought at shop 2.
Various texture fixes for Stallion, Zed, Codrac, Yotta, Teg, and many for Ninja.
Improved CarInfo blueprints for Axis, Ninja and Naxas.
Fixed positioning of Ninja mirrors 3.
Improved Ninja wheel fitment.
ST9 can now generate with well-fitting Spider 17" wheels at the dealer.
Renamed factory wheels to say "with economy tyre", to better indicate their low grip.
Disabled per-wheel shock, spring, brake and drive effects when "suspension" part isn't installed - these aren't purely visual anymore!
Options
Clearer naming for various options.
Reduced VERY HIGH viewrange from 500m to 400m. (HIGH/VERY HIGH/ULTRA = 250/400/600).
Fixed viewrange not properly capping to 400m on higher-fog weather settings.
View change keys can now be rebound.
Added an option to disable SL1R's new interior envmaps, to match the original SL1 look.
Added options for various CarLot car loading modes - more about those below!
Car Lot
Lighting now better matches that of the original game.
Fixed a high chance of doubled scroll input after loading a car.
Additional cars are now loaded depending on your aspect ratio, to avoid pop-in. More cars are also loaded in advance, to reduce frequency of stutters from loading.
Car loading width can be configured in the options as follows: "NARROW": Old loading mode, with 1 car loaded to each side. "AUTO": Load additional cars on wider than 4:3 aspect ratios, to prevent visible pop-in. "AUTO + PRELOAD 2": AUTO with enabled pre-loading, now default mode. "WHOLE LEVEL": Load entire level - slower, but never stutters when going side-to-side.
Garage
Normal painter adjustment keybinds now work in first person mode too.
First person painter now indicates what keys to hold to enable size/rotation adjustment with mouse.
Inventory panel count is now fully dynamic, properly supporting any aspect ratio, not just 4:3 or Widescreen. You can get 36 slots per page on Ultrawide, and even more as you go wider!
First person inventory is capped to 10 slots max, to not require scroll wheel to navigate.
Fixed a case of the game still telling you to go to dealer to buy a new car, even though you just returned from there.
Part shops
Shop 2 is finally complete, now featuring various 17" and 19" wheels, for a total of 209 unique permanent parts!
Added Badge custom exhaust parts to shop 3.
Misc
Restored a missing sound effect for saving career & controls.
Dealer now properly supports a large amount of modded-in cars, no longer effectively capped to offering 10 unique cars per category.
Fixed a regression, making opponent car colors not match those seen in the original game. Wrong colors will remain for existing careers.
Endgame: Pedestrian talk dialogs will now properly indicate the option to request the nearby garage position, if the local shop is already known.
Fixed reduced framerate after cycling through F1 cameras.
OSD-related memory management improvements.
Fixed a chance for the same unraced opponent to still spawn repeatedly.
Credits can now also be skipped by pressing Enter or Space, not just Esc.
Script sources for parts are now available to modders!
More to come! Enjoy and stay tuned! :)
Clearing up SL1R's settings!
SL1R features many settings, often with obscure purposes & vague naming. We've written a guide clarifying what they do!
Especially if you haven't dug into the menus, it's definitely worth a look! It's not just about quality & key binds - it's also additional inventory slots, ghost drivers, N2O percentage readout and more! Don't stop at customizing your car - make the game itself yours too! Check it out! :) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3062363830
Many of these settings were added thanks to your feedback! Let us know what else you'd like to see! We still read everything! :)
In other news, we're continuing to improve SL1R, with a new update coming soon!
Stay tuned! :)

Fixed stock V8 carb not providing a meaningful flow restriction.
Fixed Whisper front bumper 3 using incorrect textures & material properties.
Fixed washed-out color of various Ninja body parts.
Car Lot
Fixed newly bought cars sometimes ending up in unexpected slots.
Fixed a set of major bugs, leading to missing/ghost cars.
More aggressive deletion of temporary files.
Race Setup RMB-drag
Fixed random jitter.
Much smoother & more responsive motion, especially at lower framerates.
Clickable OSD elements no longer block motion.
Misc
Simpler general 'black bar filler' texture.
Added an option to disable 3D garage tool sound effects.
Fixed opponent spawn variety enforcement not applying to raced opponents of lower rank than yours.
Fixed first person driving camera sometimes getting severely messed up after switching cars, and more consistent positioning in general.
Fixed the camera moving around when removing/installing parts while seated inside the car.
More to come! Stay tuned! :)
Update Sep.21.2023: Now in Stereo!
Audio
Fixed audio source position becoming messed up after switching views or visiting a shop (resulting in much louder transmission whine).
Fixed broken audio positioning in Garage, Shop, Car Lot, and Car Market.
Fixed wrench, spray & decal SFX not using 3D audio.
Part shops
Fixed unintended "raids by FBI" in the demo.
Added rev modules, exhaust pipes, and all running gear parts except wheels to shop 2.
Minor part positioning improvements for shop 2.
Shops 3 & 4 are no longer marked as WIP.
Garage
Fixed infoline not always clearing when selecting an empty slot in first person mode.
Fixed first person inventory line number not updating when filtering parts.
Fixed being able to remove parts without disassembly by dragging them from the world into inventory. (there's a cheat for that :D)
Fixed part world-to-inventory drag breaking the camera, if it's looking at said part.
Aero
Fixed parts not directly attached to the chassis (door/hatch windows, most spoilers) not affecting drag.
Spoilers and few appropriately-shaped wings now reduce drag.
Slightly reduced minimum drag of Codrac and Yotta.
Properly balanced drag reduction logic for all cars: Drag reduction won't be 'maxxed out' early, only starting to increase drag after some parts have been lost. Now, all major body parts need to be attached, and in good condition, to achieve minimum drag!
Misc
Opponent engine start assist for rare cases of them failing to start the engine before race start.
More aggressive opponent racing AI.
Fixed a case of failure to generate Badge with a cut hood.
