Update Sep.08.2023: Flies and Volts!

Parts

  • Fixed names of many wheels falsely claiming SuperSport tyres (mostly 19" ones).
  • Fixed paint spots on the Yotta chassis.
  • Fixed incorrectly aligned Coyot trunk keyhole.
  • Fixed starter motors still working if the battery is missing.
  • Higher-end batteries now give a very very slight boost to starter torque.
  • Starter torque is slightly reduced alongside battery "wear".
  • Like others, the V10 starter motor now scales it's torque with damage.
  • Batteries now fail at 0% condition.
  • Reduced physical impact resistance of batteries by 50%.
  • Engines now cannot be started with the flywheel missing (no connection from starter to crank).
  • No drive with a missing clutch or flywheel.
  • Reordered batteries and N2O bottles inside the Catalog.

Garage

  • Fixed scroll moving the camera too, if the cursor was already within the inventory area upon entry.
  • 'You can't drive this car because X' messages now better match those of the original game.
  • Added an option to place the infoline (part name & condition text in the lower right corner) dynamically next to the cursor.
  • Various minor infoline fixes, for example, persistence when switching between mechanic/painter mode.
  • Fixed a case of painter sliders not being fully removed after exiting first person painter mode.
  • Fixed first person crosshair remaining hidden after switching to mechanic mode from decal mode.

Misc

  • Updated Workshop Uploader support files.
  • Cleaned up some rogue pixels from the higher-resolution paint textures.

Update Aug.23.2023: Arcade Evasion!

Part shops

  • New color selection logic by g13ba, for greatly reduced chance of repetition between part sets.
  • Visiting a shop at night no longer resets the city to daytime.

Options

  • More descriptive Weather setting naming.
  • Added an option for Ghost Drivers: Disables all driver models, including those of opponents and cops.
  • Added an option to disable mouselook while driving in first person mode - view is then instantly centered upon taking control of the car.
    Also solves issues with mouse steering.

New cheats: Valo City

  • "VALOSFINEST": Greatly increases police patrol - input repeatedly to spawn even more cops!
  • "MRPLOW": Reduces mass of traffic cars to 1/20th, making them fun to smash into!
    All traffic is respawned upon activating the cheat, potentially into inconvenient positions, like right in front of you :D. Mass change does not affect racers nor cops.

New cheats: Test Track & Valo

  • "STUNTMAN": Rolls your car! Useful for getting back on the wheels, or entering silly movie-like rolls when going sideways at speed!
    It is recommended to bind this cheat to a hotkey;
    input "bind 3 STUNTMAN" to bind it to the '3' key, for example!
  • "BANDAID": Restores chassis condition up to 80%.
    Does not repair deformation! Intended for allowing continued driving after chassis hits 0%.

Misc

  • Updated credits.
  • Fixed a way to duplicate the Catalog buy dialog.
  • Patched a chance for the cursor to be returned to 'previous' position upon opening any dialog, even outside of first person mode.
  • Increased look sensitivity of the third person driving camera.

Endgame pedestrian conversations

  • If the local area's shop is already known, the local garage will be marked by the pedestrian instead.
  • Added an option to specifically ask pedestrians for a local racer, rather than spawn type of 'local' or 'high-end' being randomly chosen.

Misc

  • Lowered the Sunset (car) by 3cm, for greatly improved looks and mild handling improvement when lowered. Max lift is still more than adequate for Valo's jumps, don't worry! :D
  • Improved positioning of exhaust pipes and dark taillights inside shops 3 & 4.

Update Aug.02.2023: Scratches of doom!


  • Added a filter to prevent typed special characters invisible in-game from ending up in file names.
  • Improved general file I/O reliability;
    Please let us know if you still get any issues/errors with saves/Car Lot!
  • The steering wheel can no longer be removed via 'remove nearest' function.
  • Hidden parts used for first person mode position tracking will never impede chassis repair, no matter how unconventional of a modded vehicle they end up on.
  • Fixed dealer vehicles scratched while using the RATHERWALK cheat sometimes causing a crash after purchase.
  • Other fixes related to vehicle purchases after using the aforementioned cheat.
  • Improved part setup for shops 3 & 4 - thanks to g13ba for contributing this!

Update Jul.31.2023: Slow saving fix!

Fixed slow saving!
This was caused by improperly managed data tracking for a Steam achievement - every time the game was loaded, the amount of data to write doubled in size!

Code has been added to automatically fix any affected saves.

Other issues related to saves are currently under investigation, sorry for inconvenience, and great thanks for reporting these issues on the forums! :)

Part shops

  • Fixed first person OSD sometimes breaking after leaving the shop by clicking the door.
  • All shops are now available, though not fully finished yet - bug fixes & other preparation took top priority for the full release! They'll be finished in future updates soon!

  • Fixed paintability of Badge trunk.
  • Fixed texture mapping of Stallion seats.
  • Fixed mismatched Coyot headlight glass.

Misc

  • Extended opponent spawning variety enforcement logic to apply even when you haven't challenged the opponent, so you'll always find someone else to race by driving to a different location.
  • Updated the game engine to fix stability issues related to colliding with freeroaming opponents & extreme deformation;
    Many changes were made, and we didn't have time to test it as thoroughly as we would've liked, so please let us know if you experience any regressions, especially in relation to stability & performance!

Career mode

  • Careers copy-pasted from the Demo can be continued in the full version, unless you had FULLY completed the Demo career, in which case, the career will remain playable in Demo mode, with previously locked cars now available. This is in the interests of keeping game balance.
    In this case, you'll need to either load an older save, or start a new career to fully complete the game.
  • Added a Steam Achievement for winning one race.

Modding

  • Steam Workshop basics have been set up!
    Workshop works the same way as it did for SLRR 2.3.1 - you'll need to use the installer tool to install mods - you can find it in the game directory (Steam Library > Right-click SL1R > Manage > Browse local files)
  • Workshop uploader & installer have been updated to fix some bugs.
  • Same basic modding tools/plugins are included with SL1R as were with SLRR 2.3.1, with an addition of revised Resource tools.
  • Script source files are only included for cars for this initial release;
    Sources for common parts & gameplay scripts will be added in future updates - we still need to clean them up to prepare them for public use.

CarConvert.exe (SLRR car import tool)

  • Added a shortcut for applying the same params for all models of the same car.
  • Simplified aero for imported cars, matching that of other cars.
  • Widened track for imported cars, for better fitment of SL1 wheels.
  • Fixed a case of data folder misdetection when importing several cars at a time.
  • Artificial engine power multiplication attributes are now removed.

Update Jul.24.2023: Achievements!


  • Fixed saves sometimes getting messed up when saving without using the Quicksave function.
  • Misc file I/O fixes.
  • With no car in the garage, all car-specific parts you own are now shown in the inventory, allowing you to view/sell them without owning & selecting the relevant type of car.
  • Full version only: Added 15 Steam Achievements, marking career progression milestones, and featuring a few special tasks & challenges!
    More to be added in the future!

Update Jul.18.2023: The 1/4 mile orbit!

First person mode

  • The mode is now unavailable in the city/test track if no driver's seat is installed, and the section has been entered regardless, using the 'TRY' function;
    Being thrown out the car upon pressing F1 was not the intended behavior! :)
  • Fixed first person driving camera position sometimes becoming desynced after switching to the mode at speed.

Test track

  • 1/4 mile result is now counted after traveling exactly a 1/4 mile from the starting position along the straight - trigger geometry will no longer influence results!
  • Lap test checkpoint navigator markers are now removed upon reaching them during the test;
    Removing the in-world arrows proved too distracting, so those remain.
  • Lap test finish line has been moved to the last checkpoint, slightly shortening the test;
    This moves the finish out of a heavy braking zone, and removes the need to turn around and drive back to the starting line to go for another run!
  • Better formatting of cars' test results inside Car Info.

Misc

  • Hint to slow down for pedestrians is a little less intrusive now.
  • Removed a case of redundant file I/O in case of redundant steps having been taken to save career.
  • Intuitive placement & naming for the FFB & input filtering tab in the settings.

Update Jul.14.2023: Bird control!

Audio

  • Reduced maximum simultaneous ambient sounds.
  • Higher playback priority for player/racer engine sounds - cuts are much less likely now!
  • Lower volume for some city object impact sounds.

Pedestrians

  • First pedestrian dialog seen during the career now always uses generic naming & response lines, rather than supporter submissions.
  • Added a visual hint to interact with pedestrians, shown after a little aimless driving in the city, if no pedestrians have been interacted with yet during that career.
  • Removed gameplay impact warning previously shown when applying VERY LOW pedestrian density setting.

Part shops

  • Fixed a way to crash the game related to exiting photo mode.
  • Dynamic lighting has been set up for all shops.
  • Shops can now also be exited by clicking the door - click range is not unlimited for this, to avoid potential accidental clicks.
  • New development/modding features.
