Summum Aeterna, the prequel to Aeterna Noctis, will hit all platforms simultaneously next September with its final version v1.0. The frenetic Roguelite starring his dark majesty is getting closer to ending its period in Early Access. We aim for September for the launch window, including a simultaneous release on PC and Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

New content and improvements included in the "Legacy of the Arcane"






Seeds:



  • New type of influence: "Legacy of the Arcane"
      Those seeds influenced by the arcana will allow the player to get arcane cards in the germinated worlds
      The King of Darkness will find the arcane cards in the influenced worlds eliminating the dream hunters, but it will be the cards that decide for themselves when to activate
  • Arcane Cards
      Each arcane card will have its own consequences and will alter the world
      The initial deck will have 3 cards, the rest are unlocked by progressing in the worlds influenced by the arcana
  • Effects of the cards: "Alterations of Fate"
      Added several alterations with positive, negative and ambiguous effects. These effects will kick in once the found cards activate
  • Not all card effects are the same. There are those known as "Radiant Cards", which will have much greater consequences when they wake up, but their spawn rate is very small
  • Added a new influence table "Legacy of the Arcane" in the Wandering God dimension

  • 12 cards have been added to your deck:

  • Each card has a brief description of its nature, and also expands the lore of the Aeterna Universe

Genetics:



  • "Royal Forge" gene has been removed from uninfluenced worlds
  • The genetics system in Yado's lab has been redesigned. Now there are 3 machines that differ according to their options:
      - Germinator: germinate the seeds creating worlds
      - Seed furnace: allows the fusion of seeds and their recycling transforming the destroyed seed into runes
      - Genetic alterer: allows you to modify the genetic code of a seed
  • New genetic functionalities have been added:

      Gene alterer now includes a host of new gene modification effects
      A specific vial is required for each mod, these vials can be found in worlds or obtained through rewards
  • Added new gene types:

      - Dominant: prevails in the seed even if it is mutated, it is unlocked in difficulty 2
      - Coding: hides its name and description making it impossible to know its effect, it is unlocked in difficulty 4
  • The "Will of the Kings" mode has become a seed influence. There are now 3 seed influences:
      Will of the Kings
      Dominion of Chaos
      Legacy of the Arcana
  • Seeds can contain a maximum of 3 influences and they are all compatible with each other
  • The King of Darkness can get influenced seeds in two ways:

      - Imbuing a seed with an influence via the genetic alterer
      - Obtain already influenced seeds as a reward or through the seed seller Rasen Lupine

Gameplay:



  • New challenge system available: "Board of Champions"
      Through this system, the highest level seed completed in the shortest possible time by each competitor will be registered
  • The reward for being in the top 3 places will be a gold, silver or bronze crown, which the king will wear in-game regardless of the player's skin, and as long as he stays on the podium
  • There are two world ranking systems:
      Influenced seeds ranking
      Uninfluenced seeds ranking

Rooms:



  • New room available "Chamber of the Arcane"
      A temporary location where the tarot reader Morgana awaits the arrival of the monarch of this cycle

NPCs:



  • New NPC Available "Morgana, Dealer of Destiny"
      Your first encounter with this lady of divination will be during your adventures in the sprout worlds, but after that you can visit her whenever you want in her shop in Starving City to unlock and understand how the arcane cards work. Do not be fooled by her behavior, after all, Morgana is only an intermediary, since it is the arcana that speak of her through her voice
  • Morgana will give the King of Darkness some arcane-influenced seeds after first speaking to her, so her dark majesty can experience first-hand how the cards work

Miscellany:



  • The name of the "Vial of the Kings" has been changed, now it is called "Chalice of the Kings"
  • The system of progression and unlocking of new elements in the game has been modified to better adjust the difficulty curve
  • Fixed a bug where sometimes you couldn't properly continue the talking head quest and get its reward
  • Changed the price and spawn rate of items in Chaos shops
  • Fixed a bug where the Chaos compass icon was not displaying correctly on the HUD
  • Fixed a bug where it would not correctly load the world level on seeds influenced by the Dominion of Chaos

The new Aeterna Noctis DLC will arrive on May 22



The good news for the Aeterna Universe community does not end here! On May 22 of this year, the next DLC for our fast-paced Metroidvania will be available for free and on all platforms, adding dozens of hours of combat and exploration.

In just one month, players of Aeterna Noctis on Steam, Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox will be able to download the DLC completely free. Among the novelties that the "Pit of the Damned" brings are two new game areas that expand the gaming experience, a new roster of enemies that the King of Darkness must face to unravel the secrets of the new areas, and time trials, an addictive multiplayer and cross-platform challenge.

From Aeternum Game Studios we have decided to release a demo of our Roguelite based on the Aeterna Universe.

Summum Aeterna will receive a demo next March 14 that will allow players to enjoy a complete biome including two unique areas and a fearsome final boss. Undoubtedly a unique opportunity to enjoy this frenetic Roguelite that promises hours and hours of action.

As a final surprise, we would like to have a token of gratitude. Those players who download the Summum Aeterna demo and play at least one seed will get an exclusive gift.       The power of this gem allows you to deal 10% more damage per level to enemies affected by the "weakness" status ailment

  • Updated "Epidemic" Gem
      The radius of action based on rarity level has been recalibrated, and now enemies affected by the spread area are stunned for 0.2 base seconds + 0.1 per rarity level

      On rare occasions a seed will be influenced by a higher power, modifying its mechanics in unique ways
  • New type of influence: "Dominion of Chaos"
      The seeds affected by "Dominion of Chaos" will contain rooms flooded with chaos, these will contain unique enemies born from the pure essence of Chaos, in addition, there is a possibility that in these affected areas the fearsome "Hand of Chaos" will appear, sent to exterminate all life
      Seeds affected by "Dominion of Chaos" will grant unique wishes based on the Chaos energy collected by the King of Darkness, increasing his power to legendary levels. They will also contain "Chaos Chests" which will grant a large amount of Chaos energy when opened
  • New type of Seed: "Forgotten Star"
      By germinating this unique seed, the King of Darkness will be able to visit the forgotten star, home of the "Hand of Chaos", a mysterious place that contains countless rewards to discover

      While the King of Darkness suffers "Void" his Chaos energy will progressively reduce over time

  • New status ailment gem available: Void
      Enemies affected by Void will have a 1% chance per stack to drop an "Essence of Chaos", this item will grant Chaos energy to the King of Darkness and heal him for a small amount of health
  • New type of gem available: Dupla Gem
      The double gems contain the power of two gems, whatever they are, fused into one. They are extremely difficult to find and their rarity level is Relic, but whoever wears them will feel the true power in their hands

  • Updated "Parasite" sword (Ascension available)

      · Its behavior has been modified so that it has a defensive and an offensive effect depending on the percentage of the King's life:
      · Grants a heal on hit equal to 0.005% base + 0.002% of max health per rarity level for every 1% health below 50%

      · Its behavior has been modified so that it benefits from each status ailment caused on the enemy
      · Now increases Critical Chance by 2% base + 1% per rarity level for each status ailment inflicted on the enemy hit

      -Recharge: On damage with any status ailment
      -Passive: Increases damage dealt with status ailments by a base 50% + 25% per rarity level
      -Active: When damaging enemies with status ailment you will heal for 0.1% base + 0.1% per rarity level of your maximum health for 3s base + 0.5s per rarity level

  • Updated "Healer Reaper" scythe (Ascension available)

      SUMMUM:
      -Recharge: Automatic 5s base - 0.5s per rarity level
      -Passive: Healing Grim Reaper transforms into Hungry Grim Reaper. Loses all healing effects and now deals 1% of your health damage on each attack. Increases damage 100% + 25% per rarity level
      -Active: Change weapon mode

  • Updated "Plague" scythe (Ascension available)

      · Now applies the "Debilitating" status to enemies hit, reducing the damage they deal by a base 20% + 5% per rarity level
      SUMMUM:
      -Recharge: With the damage of the curse
      -Passive: Now "Caleb" will accompany you, restoring you a base 0.1% + 0.05% per rarity level of your maximum health each time the curse deals damage
      -Active: "Caleb" launches a massive attack that applies 5 curse charges to all enemies in its area

  • Updated "Laser Rifle" pistol (Ascension available)

      SUMMUM:
      -Recharge: With the damage dealt
      -Active: Trigger a massive attack that deals 100% of your secondary damage throughout the King's area of vision

  • Updated "Devastating" pistol (Ascension available)

      SUMMUM:
      -Recharge: With the damage dealt
      -Passive: Nullifies the primary attack, the secondary ammunition is infinite and the shots track the enemies
      -Active: Fire a "KOAP" that deals 500% of your secondary damage in a massive area on impact

  • The amount of Summum energy recharged by the "Executioner" Scythe has been increased from 10% to 25% per enemy executed
  • The automatic aiming system for pistols has been improved

Game progress:



  • The algorithm for the appearance of genes in the seeds has been modified to adjust it more correctly to the difficulty curve
  • A new progress menu called "Influence Tables" has been added to "Starving City" accessible through "Zero the Wandering God"
  • Five new models available for the King of Darkness armor

Housing:



  • New type of decoration available: Trophy
      It is now possible to obtain "Trophies" and include them in the Villa of the Dark King by performing exceptional feats
  • New decorations and trophies available

Currencies:



  • New currency: "Chaos Crystals"
      One will be obtained for each Chaos level obtained by completing or being defeated in a seed

Gameplay:



  • It is now possible to cancel "Stomp" by activating the "Execute" ability of the scythe
  • Added a level marker to the health bar of enemies
  • Added a level lock marker on the Chaos bar to indicate the maximum level of Chaos you got in a seed
  • Several visual improvements have been implemented on the minimap to improve its understanding
  • Rooms affected by influences in worlds have a special mark on the minimap
  • Added name to gems in selections and shops without hovering over them
