Gameplay:



  • Changed the radius and improved the visual effect of the "Unleashed Plague" upgrade on the scythe
  • Added a visual effect on enemies and the King when affected by status ailments

Genes:



  • New lethal gene: "Assassination"
      Increased damage and health of bosses (Available on seeds level 40 or higher)
  • New lethal gene: "Tyrant"
      Bosses are more difficult. The reward obtained after defeating a boss under the influence of this gene will be doubled (Available in seeds of level 45 or higher)

Weapons:



  • New sword "Jade Katana":
      Increase your attack speed by 5% for 2 seconds for each hit to the enemy (Max 5 charges) (Rarity upgrade: 1% attack speed)
  • New scythe "Mantis Claw":
      Increases your attack speed by 5%. On cast, double the buff for 2 seconds for each enemy killed (Buff Rarity: 5% Attack Speed)
  • New gun "Taser":
      Hitting an enemy will trigger a lightning bolt that will strike a nearby target for 25% of the initial damage. The effect will repeat 1 time (Rarity Boost: +5% to damage and +1 target)
  • The buff duration of the "Spirit of the Executioner" scythe has been changed from 1 to 2 seconds per executed enemy
  • Changed the health recovery gained by the "Healing Grim Reaper" scythe from +0.5% to +0.2% per rarity level to balance it with the other weapons
  • The attack speed calculation on the swords has been modified to balance them with the other weapons
  • Fixed King sword attack animations bugs when attack speed was increased
  • Now the projectiles of the pistol "Quadcannon" have auto-aiming
  • Improved the visual effect of swords when they are thrown
  • Fixed a bug where scythe curse charges would sometimes not stack correctly

Warning

Due to the nature of the changes in this patch, players will return to Famished Town and leave whatever world they are in.

Summum Aeterna: Early Access Roadmap 2022

Summum Aeterna is a Roguelite game that combines world crawler mechanics with fast-paced combat and a unique 2D art style. Taking the role of the King of Darkness, you'll explore uncharted territories populated with treasures, traps, hordes of enemies, and powerful bosses.

Day One content

Let's take a look at what is included in the first version of the game currently available on Steam:

  • 2 worlds featuring 2 different areas each
  • 2 final bosses
  • 1 special room… The Death Roulette! Featuring a mechanic that makes your run even more interesting… Would you spin it? Be careful, it could curse your game or make you unstoppable!
  • 3 weapon types: swords, scythes, and pistols
  • 21 unique weapons, each one with different offensive and passive attributes
  • Introduction to the Seed Mechanic, a unique world generator system: Each seed you find generates a unique world with different enemy behaviour, rewards, special rooms, and map size depending on its genes and rareness.
  • More than 20 unique world modifiers: The so-called “seed genes” make each seed different from the last, and so will the world generated from them!
  • Permanent character upgrade system: No matter how many times you’re defeated, your progression in the skill tree will be saved!
  • Permanent world upgrade system: The world improvements you unlocked will last forever, even if you are defeated a hundred times!
  • Weapon customization options: Add new attributes and improve the combat performance of your weapons by embedding gems
  • More than 15 epic music themes

Everything mentioned above is already included in the current playable version of Summum Aeterna. We rely on the community feedback to improve the gaming experience. Project timeline

Summum Aeterna is scheduled to be in early access for a year and a half, so the full version will be ready at some point in 2024, but there’s no specific end date. However, all main updates for the next months are already scheduled, and the content for the first half of 2023 is almost planned.


Future content scope

Now that the first version is available, let’s take a look at the future content. Right now we have 4 major upgrades to cover the game progression until the end of 2022. Small patches could also be released between each main update to solve possible bugs or expand the customization possibilities.

This is the roadmap of our first cycle in Early Access:




Major Update 1 - July

  • 1 new challenge room that will offer a true combat challenge only recommended for the most skilled players… The Shrines of Idalith!
  • 3 minibosses
  • 1 new NPC: Rasen Lupine
  • 1 new seed type: Worlds of Random
  • Much more surprises!

Major Update 2 – August

  • 1 new world (2 currently) including 2 different areas (4 currently)
  • 1 new final boss (2 currently)
  • More genes to modify and alter the worlds

Major Update 3 - September

  • 1 new world (3 currently) including 2 different areas (6 currently)
  • 1 new final boss (3 currently)
  • 1 new weapon type (3 currently)
  • 8 unique weapons, each one with different offensive and passive features (24 currently)

Major Update 4 – October / November

  • 1 new seed type… Exotics Seeds! They will teleport you to a unique world including exclusive features. Would you survive?
  • 1 new type of world including a certain challenge to overcome
  • Inclusion of legendary weapons, allowing access to more than 30 unique tools of destruction!

What will come after Major Upgrade 4?

  • We will add more types of special rooms, and some of them will include new upgrade mechanics
  • Expect more unique variants for each weapon type
  • More worlds are also on our radar
  • New gems will be added
  • More available options in the skill and world tree
