Patch 1.1: Epilogue, Translations, and Customization

Hey Everyone!

It’s Bruce, the Director of Sun Haven.

We’re excited to announce that Patch 1.1: Epilogue, Translations, and Customization is now available on Steam! This patch includes Sun Haven’s Epilogue to the story, 15 new language translations, more player customization, more pets, new mounts, updated RNPC interiors, and Volume 2 of the Sun Haven Soundtrack.

Sun Haven will also be on sale for two weeks starting tomorrow morning!

Epilogue


Every epic story deserves an equally epic ending, and that’s just what we’ve got for you all in Patch 1.1!

Once you have handled ever-spreading darkness from Dynus, Sun Haven can finally celebrate in peace. Though it seems your job is not done yet, because there’s unfinished business in Withergate and Nel’Vari that requires action! With the help of some old friends, you might just be able to make things right with the Elven Village and Monster City.


Note: If you’re continuing a game from a previous save file, players who have already beat Dynus or completed the altars will have to return to Dynus to trigger the new Epilogue Quest.

Translations and Localization


Thanks to the additional help from our Sun Haven Discord community, we’re ready to introduce translations to Sun Haven! Players will now be able to change their language in the settings menu to the following languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Dutch, Danish, Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, Ukrainian, Turkish, Polish!

We want to give a big thank you to PotatoePet, one of our awesome community members for the help. This was a massive undertaking that has taken several months, and is only made possible thanks to the hard work by PotatoePet. In collaboration with our programmers, we were able to get this mod integrated into the vanilla version of the game so that players worldwide can now enjoy the story and entire game of Sun Haven in their own languages. We are incredibly excited to bring our game into the hands of players everywhere, and are super thankful for you PotatoePet, and the rest of our awesome community! We will be continuing to bring even more translated languages to Sun Haven in the future as well, so let us know which languages you’d like to see Sun Haven in next!

Note: A lot of these translations are computer-generated, so there may be inconsistencies or inaccuracies due to limitations.

Even More Character Customization


In the 1.0 patch, we introduced tons of new customization options for all races. To expand our customization further, we’ve added new customization options for the Elf, Naga, Amari, and Elemental races that didn’t get as many new cosmetic updates in the last patch.

We have also added in even more hairstyles for most races, “none” options, and face accessories beyond just beards and mustaches. There are also over 25 brand new hairstyles to try out! Additionally, you can now select nothing in the place of many race features such as horns, halos, wings, and more; allowing even more options and combinations as you create your character. Along with that, you can also select new face customization for many races, including makeup, masks, headbands, tattoos, glasses, and more!

For those of you looking for something with a bit more bark, we have also added a lot of new pets to the Sun Haven, Nel’Vari, and Withergate Pet Stores. You can now find over 135 pets between the three cities! To go along with all of those new pets, there are also new mounts to buy that can accompany you on your adventures throughout Sun Haven, Nel’Vari, and Withergate!

Sneak Peek at Patch 1.1

Today we’ve got an update on the progress for Patch 1.1!

The team has currently released Patch 1.1 to the Public Beta Environment, and is making great progress on finalizing the patch for release this Friday, April 21st!


Its time to put an end to Dynus’ Darkness once and for all!

A long requested wig is coming in Patch 1.1- in a lot of colors!

Character Customization:


In the 1.0 patch, we introduced tons of new customization options for all races. To expand our customization further in Patch 1.1, we’ve added new customization options for the Elf, Naga, Amari, and Elemental races that didn’t get as many new cosmetic updates in the last patch. There are tons of new clothes and fashion items to buy across the 3 different clothing stores, and we’ve also added a lot of new pets and mounts to the Sun Haven, Nel’Vari, and Withergate Pet Stores!



New race customization, outfits, and pets. Wow!

Miscellaneous Updates:


- Updated controller support. We heard your suggestions to make improvements, and we worked to implement a lot of features to make controller support even better.

- Updated Withergate and Nel’Vari maps. We wanted the maps to be a little easier to understand and more functional for regular use.

- Updated Fishing Skill tree. We’ve removed quality fish and updated some of the Fishing Skill tree options to better reflect fishing skill upgrades.

- Various bug fixes. Slime Boss will no longer torment your journey to the Combat Dungeon, the Museum Summer Bundle no longer includes a fall crop, the nighttime Barracks map is no longer so bright that it hurts your eyes, and more!

1.0.2 Micropatch

Hey all!

It's Bruce the Director at Pixel Sprout Studios.

First off, thank you and welcome to all of our new players this last week! The support is overwhelming and we're incredibly grateful and excited to see all the new folks playing our beloved game. As a game dev, watching people enjoy your game is just absolutely heartwarming. Thank you!!


Now, to quickly get in to the post, we just released a micropatch to address some of the bugs from the release! Some of our patches are "ghost patches", which mean we micropatch some bugs without posting an actual patch notes here on Steam. Any time you see that blue "download" button before you play, that's us routinely patching in some quick fixes!

Other times though (like now!), we release some minor changes with a Small Game Updates post like this one. These posts are to communicate those minor changes to the community to make sure y'all are in the loop, usually if we make more than just a couple small changes. In this case, we want to make it clear we've heard your feedback on post-release bugs. And now, it's time to deliver some good news:


Patch 1.0.2 Micropatch Notes



- Save Files are now compressed making it easier for people to send them back and forth, as well as load into multiplayer games easier
- Steam cloud saves should now automatically save progress cross-platform between Windows and Steam Deck
- Fixed many issues with character customization colors and options not working as intended
- Fixed an issue with difficulties connecting to large save files
- Fixed an issue with Backups not being compressed
- Fixed an issue with Skateboards in the Nel'Vari Mount Store
- Fixed an issue with Stormelon not appearing at the Farming Store until year 2
- Fixed an issue with Summer Farm corner tiles layering improperly
- Fixed an issue with Scarecrows not working properly after a ghost micropatch
- Fixed an issue with Tree layering on certain maps like the Quarry Transition
- Fixed more typos (Sun Haven has 700,000+ words, so we'll be continuing to fix these lol)
- And various other small bugs!



Thanks for reading! Another ghost micropatch will likely come out early next week to address any other issues found over the weekend. For now, make sure to restart your steam in order to make sure you get the changes, and from there, go on and enjoy the game as normal!

Patch 1.0: Museum and Customization

Hey Everyone!

It’s Bruce, the Director of Sun Haven.

Today is the day! The team is happy to announce that we are finally releasing Patch 1.0: Museum and Customization on Steam! This is our full release patch, which means we're packing tons of polish, as well as the Museum and Character Customization that we’ve been working on for a while! In fact, we’ve more than doubled some of the character customization options, like hair! Let's jump in!



Character Customization
The world of Sun Haven is diverse, home to many different races of people that encompass many different walks of life. Whether your Demon is a battle-hungry warrior or a gothy partygoer, Sun Haven reflects many aesthetics. To expand this even further, we’ve added new customization options so you can make your character to your precise taste.

There are many new hair options, new customization options for races, and new options to disable certain customizations (such as wings and horns!). There are also new color customizations for things like Angel halos and Amari ears as well. Create a new character or visit the salon in Sun Haven to explore the vast expansion of player customization!


The Museum
The gilded doors of the Sun Haven museum have finally been opened. Its vast halls of histories and knowledge are waiting to enlighten curious visitors. But there’s one problem… it’s missing all of the displays! You’ll need to help Covington, the jovial curator of the museum, fill out the missing displays and prepare the museum for a proper opening. It’s a good thing you happen to be a magic-wielding adventurer with a penchant for collecting ancient treasure.

Your generous contributions won’t go without reward, of course. Complete displays by finding and donating collections of different item types, earning wonderful and unique rewards for your hard work.

NOTE:
Returning players who selected Dog and Cat Amari will have to revisit the salon in order to re-select their character customization for certain things like ears (as we needed to change how some of the customization worked in order to have more options).



Patch Summary:



  • Added 200+ new character customization options across all races (each option comes in 12 colors, so there are over 3000+ new options available).
  • Added a few new pets (more coming soon).
  • Museum with 225 items to collect, including new unique items and rewards
  • Revamped multiple interiors all around the game with new art.
  • Everything in Withergate now buys and sells in Tickets (i.e., Seeds).
  • Everything in Nel’Vari now buys and sells in Mana Orbs. (i.e., Seeds).
  • All seeds in Withergate and Nel’vari now have a higher interest rate than Sun Haven seeds to account for intended game pacing. All WG and NV Items have their prices adjusted to make the beginning section of these areas more difficult, but easier later on.
  • Added new settings to improve quality of life.
  • Added polish to hundreds of things.


Sun Haven Patch 1.0 Notes:



Character Customization:


- Added 22 new hair options (more than doubling the existing options).
- Added a new Bald option.
- Added 3 new eye options, including eyes for Elementals.
- Added 7 new pieces of Elven Customization.
- Added 12 new pieces of Demon Customization.
- Added the ability for Angels to select their Halo color for certain Halos (all Halos will receive this in the future).
- Added 10 new pieces of Angel Customization
- Added the ability for Amari Cat and Dogs to select their Ear colors (returning players will need to get new ears at the salon).
- Added 20 new pieces of Amari Dog Customization.
- Added 28 new pieces of Amari Cat Customization.
- Added Water Elemental Option!
- Added a ‘None’ option for many customization options (i.e., wingless Demons and Angels).
- More Character Customization Coming Soon

Museum


Added in the Museum, with 3 sections: The Hall of Gems, The Hall of Culture, and The Aquarium.
Each item completed will be visible on a pedestal, and all fish donated in the Aquarium will show up in the Aquarium fish tanks.
Each bundle completion immediately grants rewards.
Added rewards available at the front desk for every 10 unique items donated to the museum.
Each Section of the Museum has its own curator explaining their respective sections.
Added 4 new Armor sets.
Added 3 new pets.

Fish Tanks


- Players can now obtain fish tanks, a decoration that display your caught fish.


Balance:


- Increased the sell price of most WG and NV craftable items
- Increased the cost of most furniture and purchasable items
- Rebalanced consumable items to generally restore more health and mana
- Increased number of new foods giving Max HP to make beating Dynus slightly easier
- Rebalanced Seedmakers
- Increased Cost of Carrot Sword and Egg Crossbow
- Reduced the number of Bomb Fish Needed for the Fishing Boss

Quality of Life Settings:


- Added a setting to turn on Invincibility.
- Added a setting to turn off Seasonal Bosses.
- Added a setting to turn off Seasonal Pests.
- Added a setting to turn off Seasonal Crop Effects .
- Added a setting to turn off Shadows.
- Added a setting to skip the intro of the game (NOT recommended for new players as you’ll miss important story exposition!).

Other Changes:


Added dozens of miscellaneous SFX.
Fixed various typos, added new additional dialogue to several NPCs and edited existing dialogue.
Added 2 new fertilizers.
Sleeping now recovers more mana and HP.
Updating Scroll Wheel Speed on multiple UI menus.
Updated Hitboxes on certain furniture.


Bugfixes:


- Fixed an issue with the Crafting Slime Boss not being completable on old saves
- Fixed an issue with couch duplication for new saves
- Improvements to pets falling in water when jumping over platforms
- Fixed an issue where Tomato Bread was not showing up at the Cooking Pot
- Fixed an issue causing Fabled Silk and Spooky Silk to not drop properly
- Fixed an issue causing mannequins to not display their outfits
- Fixed an issue with some quests not showing their markers above their heads
- Fixed an issue causing Clive’s wheel to not disappear when it was picked up
- Fixed an issue with spouse walk paths if players had a Tier 1 or 2 house
- Fixed an issue causing players to get stuck on a black screen when loading a new game in Multiplayer

Patch 0.8: Events and Romance

Hey Everyone!

It’s Bruce, the Director of Sun Haven!

I have some great news, Patch 0.8: Events and Romance is now available on Steam! This patch has been in the works for just over 2 months, making it one of our fastest patches to date. We managed to get in a lot of new content, improve upon old features, and add some content that has been highly requested by you all.


There are 4 new seasonal events added to Sun Haven, the Music Festival, Summer Barbeque, Halloween, and Winter Festival. These events offer unique foods, clothes, pets, and furniture sets that you won’t be able to find anywhere else in the game. So, be sure to save up your money before heading into any events, and join in the festivities for some cool rewards!


Wow, these are some spooktastic costumes!

Along with that, Sun Haven just got a bit craftier! It’s been our plan to update Nel’Vari and Withergate to feel more full. So, between all 3 towns, we have added 21 brand-new crafting tables, with hundreds of more items to craft. These new Withergate and Nel’Vari-specific tables use new resources that can only be found in each respective region, and go into new armor pieces, a craftable mount, and more! Now, you can spend the day (or weeks) in the different regions, scouring the forests to find new trees, rocks, and breakable items to score some of these new craftable items.

Also, you should even check the waters around Sun Haven… who knows what new creatures may be lurking beneath the waves.


Ack! Is that a fish or a Fish-sicle?!

Those of you with existing saved games can find the new Withergate and Nel’Vari Crafting Tables for sale at their respective General Stores, while new saves will now start with these tables on their Withergate and Nel’Vari farms. Be sure to check them out for some amazing new recipes!

- You can now go on a 3rd, spicier, date late at night by knocking on a romanceable character’s door

- Romancables now have Birthdays, found on the Bulletin Board
- Gifts given to romanceable characters on their birthday give additional hearts
- Romance progress is now based on heart levels and no longer tied to dialogue progression
- Dating can now be initiated after reaching 10 hearts and selecting the new heart button when talking to a romanceable character
- You can now reset your relationship with a character by gifting them a Memory Loss Potion (Purchasable in Town Hall)

Bosses:


- Two Bosses now appear in Summer
- Added Herman the Great White Squid, the Fishing Boss
- Added Hungry Slime, the Crafting Boss


Crafting Update:


- New players will have an Elven Crafting Table placed on their farm.
- Returning players need to purchase their first regional crafting table from the Nel’Vari or Withergate general store
- Withergate and Nel’Vari now have their own sets of forageable items and crafting materials

We have an update for Patch 0.8: Events & Romance Update and Patch 1.0: Museum & Customization!

Patch 0.8: Events & Romance Update will be available in the next few days on the Public Beta Environment, as we are very close to finalizing the patch for release to players worldwide!

1.0 Announcement


Sun Haven Patch 1.0 is set to release on March 10th, 2023!



It’s finally that time.

The big pieces of content for the 1.0 Release will be the Museum, and updated character customization! For all you completionists out there, now is the time!

While we are going to be releasing these two big things, the majority of our time will be going towards bug fixes, optimizations, and polish.

If you run into any bugs after the release of Patch 0.8, please pop into discord to share them with us.

From Wednesday, February 21st until the final build for the release, we will be extra active in our discord, as we’ll be trying to polish up everything we can. For these next few weeks, please feel free to come by and post anything you want to see fixed in the #community-suggestions channel. We’ll add it to our running list of things to polish and fix up.

Basically, until the release build is finalized, we’ll be around every single day to collect and try to solve any problems the community reports, so don’t be shy!

(keep in mind we will do our best, but we aren’t going to be able to get to everything!)



ME HUNGRY TO SQUISH BUGS...

Our Early Access Journey



Since the beginning of early access, we’ve worked with the community to implement 140+ more features over 8 major updates to the game. We are incredibly thankful for everyone's help during Early Access. Thank you for all your suggestions, and feedback.

While it took an additional 14 months in Early Access compared to what we initially intended, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve put in a ton of hard work to make Sun Haven a game we’re proud of. Sun Haven is a labor of love, and with so many people (ourselves included) with such high hopes for the game, it’s been an immense amount of work to live up to the great things players expect from us.

At the same, we’d also like to apologize to any folks out there who wished that the 1.0 Release would have come sooner. We’re proud of all the work and improvements to the game we made, but we also recognize that it was longer than we expected.


All things said and done, we’re definitely ready to call Sun Haven a complete game. As such, we’re releasing it fully to Steam, and are leaving Early Access.

Looking forward, we think there are still things we want to improve. Even though Sun Haven is a complete game, we think we can still make it better, so we will be continuing to update it.

We’re happy to say that despite leaving Early Access, we would love to continue working closely with our community on future changes, just as we already have been.

So to make it clear– Going forward, we will still be updating the game both in the short term and in the long term. We will be updating Sun Haven for years to come. We’re here to support the game and the community, so you can expect more content updates from us going forward.

We thank everyone for waiting patiently as we have poured our hearts into this game to make it the best game possible.

Nintendo Switch


Lastly, we are working with Nintendo to get Sun Haven available on Nintendo Switch as soon as possible. The game has quickly been approaching the quality bar and level of optimization that we want, and as such, has been making great progress.

At this time, the ball is currently in Nintendo’s court, and we are waiting on them in order to continue making progress on our end. As a result, the release of Sun Haven on Nintendo Switch will be pushed out a bit longer, and will go Live as soon as we are given the greenlight, and can finish the port.

Soundtrack and a 2nd Game!

Hey everyone, it’s Bruce from Pixel Sprout Studios.

TLDR: We’re releasing a Sun Haven Soundtrack!

And a second game. (dun dun dunnnn)

(The game is called Sun Down if you're itching to see. More information down below!)

We are excited to announce that Volume 1 of the Sun Haven Soundtrack is available now on Steam! This soundtrack contains 78 songs, which is almost 2 hours long. It's also made from our master tracks, meaning what you are hearing is exactly what our sound designer, Alex Wiedel, hears when he writes these songs for Sun Haven.


(Soundtrack Vol. 2, containing all of the Nel’Vari and Withergate music will release with our 1.0 Release)


As an indie game studio, we don’t always have the luxury of having multiple people to help with everything. So over the last three years, Alex has written each one of these songs practically solo. (what a champ!)



And to speak honestly about it, the Sun Haven soundtrack is just one of the things I’m most proud of at this studio. It is simply just our best work.

GAME 2 ANNOUNCEMENT 🌱



I am happy to announce that Pixel Sprout Studios will be releasing its second game, Sun Down. We will be releasing the game on Friday, February 24th!

Sun Down is a brand new game set in the Sun Haven Universe, where Farm Sim meets Action Roguelike. You’ll farm crops, collect pets, catch fish, mine ores, upgrade spells, and craft turrets to build a farm and survive hordes of monsters through 4 changing seasons.

Simply put, if you enjoyed Sun Haven, you’ll definitely love Sun Down.

Game Setting


Sun Haven’s hero (that’s technically you) never arrived to stop Dynus, the Moon Dragon. As a result, in this timeline, Dynus has taken over both Withergate AND Sun Haven with hordes of monsters overrunning the lands.

Now, you will play as Darius, the recently crowned Demon King of Withergate, or Lucia, Archmage of Sun Haven, to defend your farm and survive through countless waves of monsters at Sun Down!

This game has been a blast to work on, and is accomplishable thanks to some expansions to the team over the past few months. While putting hard work towards Sun Haven’s release, we’ve also managed to bring in some brand new folks to the studio to help us grow into a multi-game studio. As such, these projects are being worked on without any real impact on Sun Haven’s development. In fact, Sun Haven actually benefited from Sun Down’s development, as new faces and new tech brought tools and learnings over to Sun Haven. It’s something I’m actually really proud of.

Last, but certainly not least, Sun Haven Patch 0.8 is almost ready! We are aiming to have this patch available on PBE for testing very soon. Steam Achievements!

It's Bruce, from Pixel Sprout Studios with a mid-patch update!

We just released a micropatch with quite a few major bug fixes for Patch 0.7 that have been reported by our players on Discord. Along with these bug fixes, we were also able to get in another highly requested feature… Steam Achievements! Sun Haven now has 136 Achievements to earn. You can learn more about all the achievements here.

Any achievements completed before this update should immediately unlock (barring a few exceptions). All you have to do is load your favorite character and watch the achievements roll in!

Patch 0.7: Seasons

Happy Holidays Everyone!

It’s Bruce, the Director of Sun Haven!

We have the perfect present, just in time for the holidays- Patch 0.7: Seasons is here! We mentioned in our last Dev Blog that it would be coming later this month, and here we are!

Patch 0.7: Seasons is now Live.

This patch brings 4 new seasons to Sun Haven. Depending on the time of the year, the environment and characters of Sun Haven will now change to match.


Seasons have been heavily requested by fans, and we’re excited to finally be able to bring seasonal romanceable character sprites, portraits, seasonal crops, and more.

While we’ve wanted to release this update earlier in the patch lineup, putting our patches in this particular order was the most efficient for us, by far. Thank you for waiting and trusting in us to make the right priority calls for the studio, and for Sun Haven.

Going forward per our Roadmap, we will be releasing a followup Seasonal patch early next year to release more events and seasonal recipes. From there, we’ll finally move on to our 1.0 Release, which should be coming in the next few months.

While there will always be more work to do on Sun Haven (and yes, we will have patches after 1.0) the team feels like we’ve approached a product that we’re proud to call the full, finished game for release.

With the planned release of Patch 0.7: Seasons now being slated for later this month, what does that mean for Sun Haven and its future patches? Well, we’re happy to announce that we have an answer for that- in the form of a brand-new Roadmap! On this Trello Board, we have laid out the past, present, and future of Sun Haven! This includes what's coming up for Patch 0.7: Seasons, Patch 0.8 Seasons pt. 2, and our Patch 1.0: Full Release.

Seasons are almost here, in all their glory! Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter have come to Sun Haven with beautiful new maps and gorgeous new music to enjoy. From the blossoms of Spring to the cozy snowfall of Winter, we’re so excited to show you how much this town can change over the course of a year.

Each season will feature unique content such as new crops, new dialogue, quests, and more! Here’s a peek at some of the things you will see as the seasons change:

- Seasonal busts and sprites for all romanceable characters
- Unique seasonal decorations
- Seasonal tokens with awesome rewards, such as themed pets and mounts
- Seasonally themed monsters

Nivara’s magic protects Nel’Vari from seasonal effects, and in Withergate, Dynus’s darkness keeps the chill out of the air year-round, but don’t worry– these special circumstances won’t exclude Nel’Vari and Withergate romanceable characters from the fun of season changes!

Crafting Update and Farming Skill Tree


Along with Seasons, we are adding a lot more to our crafting systems than ever before! The Farming Skill tree is receiving new updates in this patch with unlockable crafting tables and more recipes locked behind your levels. Over 200 new crafting recipes and items are being added in this patch alone!

Mining Systems



The Withergate Mines are now open via the Withergate Subway entrance! Two new vendors have set up shop in the area with brand-new items, armor, potions, and more to discover. Explore nine new mining levels with new ores and unique music tracks in 3 themes.

The Nel’Vari Mines have also been filled with new monsters to conquer! Fight new unique monsters as you gather ores and resources for trade with Poppy and Silas outside the mine.
