It’s that time! Patch 0.6: Events & Bosses is here. (and a little bit earlier than expected too, as of our last Dev Blog hehe.)
There have been some BIG changes to Sun Haven. For example, Sun Haven Town has been entirely revamped, being expanded by more than twice. Along with this are hundreds of other changes, which will be listed below as always. A comparison of the old Sun Haven Town Map to the new Sun Haven Town Map.
The goal of this patch is to shake up the day-to-day gameplay, and give players something that makes each day distinct from the last. While it’s nice to have a plan for what you want to do for the day….
You might just get an unexpected visitor.
Thank you so much for playing Sun Haven. Check out the full list of changes below.

Our next big update to the game will be Patch 0.7: Seasons, which will take us a few months to release. Features that didn’t make it in as we mentioned in our last Dev Blog, will be released with Patch 0.7 (Character Customization and the Withergate Mines).
As we get closer to the finish line, we’ll be posting Dev Blogs here on Steam with sneak peeks into our progress, so keep a lookout!
Lastly, join us over on Discord to share your thoughts on the patch, share screenshots of your farm, or just look at all the cute pet pictures.
Patch 0.6: Events & Bosses is just around the corner with a couple of weeks away!
Hey Everyone, it’s Bruce from Pixel Sprout Studios.
In our Friday Dev Blog #12, we wrote that this patch could potentially be ready in mid-September, but based on PBE discussions and testing, we found we needed more time before we felt confident that the new content was ready for players worldwide.
For the past month, we have had our noses to the grindstone in hopes of minimizing the delay, and we finally have a moment now to give an update on the patch’s final release publicly.
Our estimation for the full release of this patch is now Friday, November 4th.
We would like to apologize for the extended delay. While game releases and major updates in the industry do have a history of extended delays, it certainly doesn’t feel great to be on that train as well from time to time. The nature of game development is about making something fun and immersive. With this, you have to take great care to make sure nothing in the game breaks immersion, which can be quite a task.
Between releasing the patch with bugs, or waiting a little bit longer to ensure everything is up to quality bar, we’ve chosen the latter- wait a little bit longer to ensure we’re delivering what players have come to expect from us. We’re very thankful for everyone’s patience and again would like to apologize for the delay.
On a positive note. This patch is yet again, our largest patch ever. With revamping Sun Haven Town, adding in 2 new storylines, and redoing our multiplayer system, we’ve made some leaps in bounds in what Sun Haven is, and what it will be in the future. Personally, I’m really excited for what we’ll be able to do with Sun Haven for Patch 0.7: Seasons, now that Sun Haven Town is so developed.
A sneak peek at Winter! This is still a WIP (Work in Progress).
With more positive news, we haven’t heard of even a single Multiplayer disconnection issue on PBE since refactoring the Multiplayer system this patch. With this new system that we can reuse, we’re very likely to be able to continue producing multiplayer games that you can play with your friends. Disconnection free. With a lot of things in game dev, the first time is just the hardest. That’s for sure.
(And now that I’ve said we haven’t had any disconnections, I’m surely just inviting someone to jinx us… uh oh. haha)
When will the new patch be live?
We’re aiming for both Windows and Mac updates for Patch 0.6. to ship on November 4th.
What are we still working on for Patch 0.6?
Controller Support is almost finished. We are in some of the final stages of playtesting, and compatibility testing to make sure it functions correctly on multiple types of controllers. To play Sun Haven with a controller, all you’ll have to do is… Well… plug in a controller at any time.
For folks curious about the Steam Deck, we believe everything should be functional and work properly. For our Steam page receiving the Steam Deck support badge, we are likely to receive this at a later date, since it’ll take some time for Valve to verify Sun Haven. Regardless, Sun Haven is playable with controllers. Hooray!
More Multiplayer Bugfixes are still being worked on. This update should squash many common Multiplayer bugs and practically all disconnection issues, but there’s always more bugs to squash.
What isn’t ready yet?
A few features we talked about in our last Dev Update aren't fully ready yet, as we needed to spend our time on squashing bugs. These features will come as micropatches during Patch 0.6 after the initial patch release, or with Patch 0.7: Seasons.
Expanded Character Customization is a massive undertaking with hundreds of new options between all the races. The art is all done, but we haven’t had time to implement them into Sun Haven yet.
The Withergate Mines also has all of the art done, but we will need a bit more time for implementation as well. During Patch 0.6’s release, you will still be able to check out the Withergate Mines’ Subway Hub outside of the Withergate Apartment, but you won’t be able to venture into the Mines just yet.
The UI Update, as intended for Patch 0.6, is completely in the game. However, we’ve heard your feedback about the new HUD UI missing the whimsical, fantasy aesthetic that the old UI HUD had. We’re taking your suggestions into account, and we’re working to re-add some of Sun Haven’s magic to an updated HUD UI for Patch 0.7, further inspired by you.
Special Thanks!
Thanks for your patience, and a big thanks to all of the folks helping with PBE testing on Discord. Speaking of which, we would like to shout out some of our most dedicated players for being amazing and incredibly helpful on Patch 0.6’s PBE testing:
Vizzy Ashesinthend(Yserin)Nospoons Jet Eranoth Gab Hart Huskie Moon Fox KokoroWorlds Wolf Bite
You’ve all helped us improve and polish Patch 0.6 into something we can be very proud of. Thank you. And now with the team and help of the community together, we hope to be able to bring Patch 0.6: Events & Bosses to Sun Haven as soon as it's ready.
Today we have an update on the progress for Patch 0.6!
The team has currently released Patch 0.6 to the Public Beta Environment, and is making great progress on finalizing the patch.
For folks who would like a sneak peak of Patch 0.6 early, all players have access the Public Beta Environment (PBE) on Steam, by following a few instructions (posted in our Discord). We welcome folks to test the patch on the PBE, and contribute to reporting any bugs found. Thank you to everyone who's helped out so far, as it has greatly contributed to us releasing the patch sooner.
If you are interested in joining the PBE and helping us ship this patch, join our Discord and check out #pbe-rules for more information on how to join in the testing!
Lastly, we're sorry about the visibility issues for updates on Patch 0.6’s release date. While we added an edit to our most recent dev blog a few days ago, it was definitely not clear enough. Going forward, we'll try to write Small Updates (like this one) on Steam to give Steam users more clear updates.
Thank you all for your patience as we work hard on making Sun Haven even better, and good luck, have fun to all the PBE players!
- Bruce
Friday Dev Blog #12
Hey everyone! It’s Bruce, from Pixel Sprout Studios.
We hope everyone has been having an awesome summer so far! For us at the studio, we’ve been having a blast finishing up Sun Haven here, as we get to the last couple of patches before our big 1.0 launch. Going forward, we’re going to start posting our Dev Blogs to Steam, starting with this one! The goal for these is to keep communication up with players outside of just the official Sun Haven Discord, as well as give some sneak peeks into the next patch. If you'd like to see the rest of our previous Dev Blogs, check them out on our website.
With that being said:
Sun Haven’s next major patch, Patch 0.6: Events & Bosses, will be coming on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022.
This patch includes new places to explore, boss encounters, improved maps, controller support, an update to the storyline, and more. As always, features and timelines between now and the future can change, but this is the release date and general features that we’re currently planning on releasing. Without further ado, let’s jump in.
More Story
As the world grows and evolves alongside the development process, the story we made for an originally smaller game has room to grow as well. In this coming patch, we’re planning to ship changes to both the Withergate and Sun Haven questlines. The changes go all the way back to Day 1 in Sun Haven, including a new intro cutscene, which should help distill more world context when players first start the game. To see these changes, you might want to make a new character!
Character Customization
Speaking of building a new character, significant additions are coming to character customization as well. We’re still finishing them up over the next few weeks, but our plan is to ship this patch with a bunch more customization for all the races, including races that didn’t have as many options before, like Amari and Elementals. We’ll also do a pass to make sure we have a “None Selected” option for races, so you can finally be a Demon or Angel without wings.
Sun Haven Town Expansion
This patch, we bumped into difficulties finding enough space for new characters and events in the Sun Haven town. It’s not so surprising considering how much the game has grown over the last year. To solve this, we had to make the town of Sun Haven a little bit larger. This includes improving existing locations to accommodate more space for characters and events, as well as adding a few new locations to explore. There’s also a museum now, which we’ll be opening for business in Patch 0.7: Seasons.
Bosses and Battles
Players have been requesting some serious challenges to spice up the gameplay, so here they are! Don’t worry though– as always in Sun Haven, there are plenty of creative ways to overcome bosses through non-combative ways. Whichever way you choose, we hope you’ll enjoy these new challenges!
The Lantern Festival
Spring (the season Sun Haven currently always is) will include a brand-new community event: The Lantern Festival. This is a great time to meet your neighbors and explore some of the culture behind Sun Haven. Come get your free lantern and enjoy the festivities!
Controller Support
We’re also rolling out controller support with this new patch, which we know many of our players have been asking for. We unfortunately weren’t able to squeeze it in for the last patch, but this time we should be good to go! Get ready to sit back and relax on the couch with a controller while you play!
Nel'Vari and Withergate Mines
Nel’Vari and Withergate are also getting their very own mining maps to explore. These updates will include a total of 20 new maps, where you can mine new resources, purchase new upgrades, and craft new items! This is the feature for players looking to max out their character, and will be an integral part of beating the game through combat.
Multiplayer Bug Fixes
For the final feature in this Dev Blog, this update includes improvements to the multiplayer system. This includes an overhaul to the base of the multiplayer system, and it should have fixes for most multiplayer issues, especially player disconnections. Remember that if anything happens, you can always roll back your character/world with the ‘Load Backups’ button on the ‘Load Character’ menu in the main menu.
Lastly, we’d like to invite players interested in participating in the development of the game to play on the Public Beta Environment. To join in, join the official Sun Haven Discord server and follow these instructions. We’ll have the newest content up on this beta environment soon. Once it’s ready, you’ll get a chance to see all the upcoming content ahead of time. Let us know what you think!
Thank you again for your continued support and feedback to help us improve the game. We read every single suggestion and bug report in our discord channel, so please keep on posting! Make sure you take some time to explore all the changes to Sun Haven in this update coming on September 14th, 2022.
Have y’all been itching for an update like I have? Well itch no more, friendo. Today’s patch has a whole heck of a lot to offer! In fact, I’d go so far as to call this our biggest update yet!
As always, Pixel Sprout Studios has been hard at work fixing up this patch so it’s packed full of content. Let me give you a quick rundown of what we’re looking at. Let’s see, what are the highlights… Possibly the whole carnival we added to Withergate!!
You read that right, Withergate now features a lively carnival space! You’ll find it complete with games, carnival-exclusive prizes, new NPCs, and a gorgeous ferris wheel for you to ride. Take a spin when you get a chance - you can see a lot from up there!

The Elven town of Nel’Vari has also been significantly revamped! I’m talking about the maps, the NPCs, the quests, the shops, the music - heck, there’s even a town map now! On top of this, a revamped Nel’Vari wouldn’t be complete without a brand new player farm now, would it?

Content: - All clothing item now show their sprites instead of the generic icons - The Basic Fishing Rod now has an icon - The platforms that appear during the Dynus Boss Fight now better match his lair
