SAF - v. 0.705 - Match Setup



Hi Everyone,

We're happy to release a new update for Super Arcade Football (v. 0.705). At the moment we're working on improving the quick match flow, both offline and online. With this update we've added the match setup screen, where players can choose the following:

  • Match Duration (3, 5 or 10 minutes)
  • Score Limit (none or up to 10)
  • Modifiers (meteorites and no out of bounds at the moment, more will be added soon)

We've also improved the game user interface and centered the sound effects (thanks to Mordiah for reporting the problem).

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback we've received via email and on the discussion forum. You keep us going!

Expect more modifiers, options and general improvements in the next update.

The New Super Arcade Football



Hey Everyone,

We've been working hard for the past year and we're finally ready to show you the fruits of our labour. The new Super Arcade Football has been released as an update to the main game.

The game was rebuilt from scratch in our custom engine that we used for our other game Super Arcade Racing. That means that the UI, and all code and art was completely remade from the ground up for a faster, more arcade-like experience.

We're working hard on introducing as many features as possible to the game.

Here's what we have so far:

  • Single Player
    Hop straight in and play a thrilling game of football against the AI. A smart computer combined with simple controls that are easy to learn and hard to master makes an exciting experience for players of all skills.

  • Online And Local Multiplayer
    Play with friends on your sofa at home or over the internet. Up to 4 players at once supported, with full gamepad support.

  • A Full Stadium
    A stadium packed with an adoring crowd, TV cameras and even a few marshals in case things get a little too heated.

And here's what we're working on right now:

  • Modifiers
    Shake up the game by having meteors fall from the sky at random moments, or maybe make it so there is no out of bounds, or have the ref take the day off. We've included the meteor modifier in the game already as a teaser (this will become optional in the future).

  • Tournaments
    Become champions of the World or Europe, or play in your own custom tournaments.

  • Many More Features
    Go to the store page to check out the roadmap and watch this space for more updates and improvements to the game as we near release.

For anyone wanting to play the old version of Super Arcade Football, it's now been moved to the legacy branch on steam. Go to properties -> betas in the game in your library to download that version. The current version of the game no longer supports macOS but we will reintroduce this in an update in the future.

A plethora of bug fixes!



Hello everyone! We have been focusing on working through our bugs/general improvements list and are happy to give you this update which includes quite a few of them!

Here's what's new:


  • Added time of day settings to match setup menu


    It's random by default, but if you feel like playing at the crack of dawn, now you can choose as you wish!

  • Bug fixes and general improvements



    • Increased ball speed / kick powers
    • Reviewed energy reduction and restoration
    • Fixed Keeper circling around the ball
    • Shadows all face the same way
    • Fixed meteorite on replay / online
    • Fixed power up collection
    • Fixed SAF Cam online
    • Reviewed the statistics recording (specifically shots)
    • Moved players closer to center circle on Kick Off
    • Fixed the issues with players running onto pitch from tunnel
    • Referee now gives fouls for slide tackles from behind
    • Keeper now takes the goal kick from nearest side
    • Fixed crash on 5-a-side throw-ins/corners/goal kicks
    • Other various tweaks and fixes ːsteammockingː






A big thanks as always to those of you who have pointed out issues and put forward your suggestions on how to improve SAF.

We know there are still some issues remaining, and we are working towards fixing all those pesky bugs and improving the game until it's at a level we can all be happy with.

SAF Development Update!

Out of this world!!


We're slipping in a cheeky little update before the easter holidays :)

Here's what's new:

  • Time of Day (and lighting in general)




    We have added in these times of day!
    Morning
    Noon (the normal time of day)
    Dusk
    Nightime


    At the moment, these are set randomly, we will expose this as an option in the following weeks.

  • Reviewed Meteorites



    We now have fancy 3D meteorites (we have done away with the old 2D version). This will be improved in our overall polish phase.

  • Reviewed Stadium


    The stadium stands now reflect the home teams colours.

  • General bug fixes and improvements!


    Lots more to find and SQUASH!



We are now going to focus our next few updates on FIXING AS MANY BUGS AS POSSIBLE!!
So that will mean less new content but a much better game in general. Thank you so much to you guys who are finding and reporting these bugs, we're very grateful to have such a brilliant community.

Hello! Another update, here's what's new:


  • Improved Crowd (again)!


    We have improved the animation system for our crowd, and are happy with the variations of animations each crowd person can use!

  • Graphics Settings



    We have started to add in our graphics options. For now there is just one preset selector. At the moment the default is Standard but if you feel like treating your eyeballs, switch to DELUXE mode for much better graphics (may affect performance on some lower end PCs).

    We will expose all the standard graphics settings you expect to see in any modern PC game (Anti-aliasing, V-sync etc).

  • Added a new replay camera angle!


    A static birds eye view is now available to choose when watching an instant replay.

  • General bug fixes and improvements!


    A few little bugs have been resolved in this version :)

Glorious replays and more!



Hello everyone! Yet again, another update for you all, let's jump straight in!

Here's what's new:

  • Improved Replay!



    Now you can really appreciate your goals with a new replay system. You can also choose from a list of camera angles.

    We will be adding more camera angles and a replay editor/exporter. But for now the replays loop forever (unless you skip) so if you really want to share, you can screen record the replay!

  • Improved Crowd!


    Crowd now can wear their clubs shirts, and also have dedicated guys to wave flags! We still have a bit of work to do on the crowd in terms of animations and fine tuning.

  • Improved Settings Menu!


    We have reviewed the settings menu and made a few alterations to help us when we add in more options in the future.

  • General bug fixes and improvements!

Update time!



Here we are again, another Friday, another update.

Here's what's new:

  • Female Players!



    Although long overdue, you can now play as female players in Super Arcade Football. At the moment, there is only one default team in the game (OutOfTheBit F.C) with female players, but you can add female players to any team. This also brings with it 2 more hairstyles, we will be adding many more soon.


  • Tournament Statistics



    Now you can keep tabs on all the stats in your tournaments. This should please those of you who are big dataheads. Stats Stats STATS!

  • Bug fixes and general improvements


    Fixed a few crashes, some more bugs have been squashed and quite a few general improvements.

We're on the big screen!



Hello! Another weekly update for you all!

Here's what's new:

  • Injuries!



    Players can now get injured, giving them a reason to yell in pain. We even have little physios run on to help stretcher off the poor souls.

    Injuries also carry over in tournaments too, meaning anyone injured will most likely be out for a couple of matches.

  • Crowd improvements


    Crowd now have hair! That miracle hair growth solution really works. We are next working on adding the home/away shirts for the crowd to wear next.

  • Bug fixes


    Slowly but surely we are removing a lot of bugs, we thank you for your ongoing patience on this!

We're on the big screen!



Another week, another update!

Here's what's new:

  • Camera guys!



    We've added in more NPCs into the stadium, starting with the Camera guys who are probably obstructing the view of some members of the crowd. But the TV audience is way more important than actual spectators, right?

  • Skip setup states!


    You can now skip all the boring bits in the game, like setting up fouls, free kicks and most importantly, substitutions!

  • Crowd Improvements


    A few more variations in animations and colours, everyone still has the same hair cut at the moment but hopefully by next week they will have new styles. It takes time to grow hair!

  • Bug fixes


    Still got loads to fix

Hello again one and all, we're on track with our weekly updates, so here's another for you to enjoy!

Here's what's new:

  • And the crowd go wild!



    We've added in the first iteration of our crowd! We have built a nice and hopefully lightweight system for drawing the fans. There's not much diversity among the people at the moment, but we will be adding in lots of variation soon.

  • New balls please!


    We have also started adding in more art assets. This week we have new ball textures. We will continually be adding in more week by week.

  • Corner Flags


    Similar to the above, we have added in some corner flags (which dance in the wind and everything).

  • Optimisations


    Hopefully with this update you should see performance increases, especially those on lower end devices, please let us know if there is a difference.

  • Bug fixes


    Mostly in gameplay and some UI.


At the moment we are nailed on to our plan (which is a first for us!), we'll be working on lots of bug fixes and added content in the following weeks.
