SAF Development Update!

Here we are again with a new update, check it out!

Here's what's new:

  • Diving Headers!



    Finally you can try a last ditch attempt to hit the ball with your noggin'. We've added in Diving headers, and although tricky they are super satisfying to do!

  • Headers/Bicycle kicks Review!



    We've also looked at our heading / bicycle kicks system and it is now greatly improved. It's still not 100% perfect but it's much better than it was. Works well for both attacking and defence.

  • Loading optimisations


    We've had a big asset clear-out , so the game should be a bit faster to launch.

  • Few bug fixes


    Specifically with the goalkeeper (sometimes he would forget how to kick the ball), as well as a few other fixes here and there.

Here's what's new:

SAF Development Update! Beta Patch

We’re moving the goal posts


Hello!
We have a new version of SAF to test on the beta branch! We’d like to get more feedback on this version before we move it over to the default branch, so please do let us know your thoughts!

Here's what's new:

  • Bigger pitch!



    We’ve completely resized the football pitch! It’s much bigger now meaning you have more space to link passes and build actions. This also helps freekick states be more playable.

  • Reviewed ball control!


    With bigger pitches comes bigger kicks! The way you kick the ball is a bit more mature and finessed, with more control over passes, strikes and crosses. We have also added a power bar to give you a visual feedback on your strengths. It may get a bit of time to get used to, but we think it gives more control to the player.

  • Added a mini map!



    Now with a bigger pitch you may want to know where exactly all your players are, so now by pushing the TAB key you can toggle on/off the mini map (We will be adding this into the settings menu at some point!)

  • Tactic improvements


    Teammates should help you out a bit more when you have the ball. This is an ongoing improvement.

  • Camera Tweaks


    Camera should be a bit more helpful in crossing scenarios

  • Bug fixes


    UI and gameplay fixes, many many more to be fixed


**PLEASE NOTE:**
This version is only available on the beta saf_beta_work_in_progress branch (we’ll leave details at the end of this announcement).
With the reviewed pitch sizes, we now need to redesign our stadium, so unfortunately this version of the stadium is a bit out of proportion, but we will fix this when we update on the main branch.

Phew, what a lot of text. Again, please please PLEASE let us know what you think of these changes, we know it’s quite a big change gameplay wise but we are having much more fun with this layout than the previous versions, and hope you guys enjoy it too.

Here's how to activate the beta branch if you don't know yet:

  • Go to the library page on steam
  • In the games column on the left, right click Super Arcade Football
  • Click Properties
  • Select the Betas tab
  • On the drop down list, select saf_beta_work_in_progress
  • That's it!

SAF Patch Update!

Hey Guys!

Just a quick patch update today, with some minor bug fixes. Specifically the fact that gamepad inputs were not being registered in Quick Match menus, as well as a few other niggles.

You should now all be on the version 31.b

HAPPY NEW YEAR



Hope you all had a very happy holidays! We're kicking off 2018 with a new update!

Here's what's new:

  • When it rains, it pours!



    January showers are upon us in Super Arcade Football world, you can now select our first weather setting, rain! Now we can finally know whether Messi can do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke.

  • Fixes


    - Fixed a crash on substitutions
    - Fixed a wall collision bug
    - A few UI fixes


I know we said it last year... but this year, THIS IS REALLY OUR YEAR! Still sound just like Liverpool!

SAF Development Update!

Our final update for this year!



We're here again and ignoring all logical and intelligent suggestions to not deploy an update before the Christmas holidays....what could go wrong!?

**PLEASE NOTE**
If you have edited teams in our in game editor, unfortunately you will lose your changes, such is the life of early access :(. If you've made lots of changes and don't want to see them gone let us know and we may be able to convert them and give you a new file (your edited teams file will not be deleted but just ignored on startup). If you are loading custom data from a .csv this update shouldn't affect you.

Here's what's new:

  • Ongoing Tournaments



    You can now have multiple saves of multiple tournaments, so if you have some friends round and want to save your progress, now you can. If you want to start a new one you can rest easy knowing that the previous won't be overwritten!

  • Many bug fixes


    Specifically in team data (all changes made in the edit team menus should be consistent throughout the game), tournaments, UI and collisions. We also gave the gk a shirt number on his back! Thanks to those who spotted this and let us know!



We've had a fairly good year, and some good progress made, but in the last couple of months we have really found our stride and seem to be improving the game a lot quicker, so let's keep up the pace! We couldn't and wouldn't have done it without all of your support, so from all of us at OutOfTheBit, thanks very much and Happy Holidays! We will see you next year ːsteamhappyː

We have a nice update for you lot! Something we're quite excited about!

Here's what's new:

  • STADIUM!!



    We've finally added in a stadium! Unfortunately there was a mix up with the tickets for the crowd, so all games are being played behind closed doors, but if you're an Arsenal fan you shouldn't really notice a difference ːsteammockingː. We are working on the crowd so expect to see them real soon.

    This is the first version of the stadium, we will be working towards improving it, adding more variations and more details.

  • Adverts!


    Every stadium needs lots of obnoxious adverts spamming you with their products, and so we have included some HILARIOUS ads. We'll constantly be adding in more, so if you have any ideas for new ones, write them down in the discussion post here.

  • Added new custom tournaments!



    Now you have more control when setting up a custom tournament. Setup the league / knockout structure, name and teams. We'll be introducing custom mixed tournaments (like the world cup, champions league etc) soon too, as well as more tournament information and settings.

  • A few bug fixes

SAF Development Update!

Hello! We got another one for ya



Happy Friday! We have a small gameplay update to keep you lot busy whilst we finish up some really nice new content.

Here's what's new:

  • Improved Corners
    You now have more control when taking corner kicks (Like bending the ball and aiming better).

  • Substitutions can now be made on kick off
    So after a goal is scored, or the start of a new half, substitutions can come on to the pitch to give you some fresh legs.

  • Ball control reviewed
    Thanks to your feedback, we've reviewed how the ball handles with the players. It's now a bit looser, so players with lower stats may lose the ball when trying to do big turns. If you want things to feel a bit looser, you can still use the Looser ball modifier.

  • Slight goal keeper improvements
    We're still working on the new AI system, but for now we have tweaked the goal keeper to be a bit better at saving shots.

  • General bug fixes
    A few more collision fixes, as well as a few other little bugs.

SAF Development Update!

GET YOUR ZORBS OUT FOR THE LADS!



Hello! We are happy to release a new update this week with more content and bug fixes!

Here's what's new:

  • Zorb mode!
    You'll be forever blowing bubbles, pretty bubbles in the air with our new modifier and match preset. Tackles are replaced with big lunges and collisions between all players are scaled up.



  • SAF Cam!
    We've done away with the old comics and have replaced it with SAF Cam. Now you can dab on them haters in style!



  • In-game team editor!
    Added a way to edit all the teams in the game! The old way of using custom team data is still implemented, but now you can also make changes in the game as well!



  • Bug fixes
    Specifically in the gameplay collisions, online replay as well as a few others.



Phew, that's a big one this week! We are working on some really cool stuff that we cannot wait to share!. Hope you guys like this update, we'll be back soon with another :D

SAF Development Update!

New Camera modes, team management and AI Improvements!



Happy Friday to all! We have a nice little update for you lot.

Here's what's new:

  • New Camera modes!
    Whilst we work away on the stadium and crowd, we've added in this update 2 new camera angles. Don't worry, we still have the old camera settings as default, but with the new perspective cameras you can see a bit more 3D-ness. We've also added a bit more pitch detail round the edges


  • Improved Team Management Menu!
    We've combined the formation and squad management sections, we think it looks a lot better too.


  • Tinkering with AI!
    We are working on a brand new system for the AI, and have included in this update an early version of our new AI handling. *It is only available when playing on Standard mode, all other game modes revert to the old AI*
    This is still early days, but we think it's already starting to feel more human, unpredictable and varied. We have lots more to add to it. Also unfortunately we have not reviewed the goal keeper AI in this release, but we are working on that too!

    Please let us know what you think of this new approach to the AI.

  • Few Bug fixes here and there!
    Still a few remaining.
