We've only gone and done another update this week! Online mode is back!
This version has all the same features that are on the main branch, and with the added convenience of Background search
We know we don't have a massive player base at the moment, so rather than staring at the online search menu whilst you try and find a player, you can now exit the menu and keep searching in the background. When a player is available you will be taken straight to the team selection menu where you can play the match as normal!
If you aren't able to see this new version, please make sure you have the beta test branch selected in Steam, to do so here's a how-to:
Go to the library page on steam
In the games column on the left, right click Super Arcade Football
Click Properties
Select the Betas tab
On the drop down list, select saf_beta_work_in_progress
That's it!

SAF Development Update! Patch Update
Oi oiii!
What better way to start of the week than with a new update?
Here's what's new:
New Modifier! Say hello to Speed Lines!. Step on these bad boys and they will give you an added boost in whatever direction they are facing.
Added back landscape mode In the settings tab you can now change camera to landscape mode. Once we have completed this phase of development we will be adding more camera types!
Various bug fixes
The next release will come fairly soon, which will have more AI and gameplay improvements, and also a better online experience.

SAF Development Update! Modifiers!
Hello Again
We're back with a new update, here's what's new:
Reviewed Collisions / Physics! We re-re-re-wrote the way players collide with each other and obstacles. It's feeling way more solid now and should be nearly final.
Modifiers! We've added back and tweaked the original modifiers, with more in the pipeline soon.
Game Modes! Along with the modifiers, we have brought back Ice, indoor, 5-a-side and all other match settings. Weather is still to be added, we have been working on weathers but they need a bit more optimisation before we add them to the Steam build.
Various bug fixes There are still a few niggly bugs remaining which we are aware of, and are working towards fixing them
Up next we will be adding back Online (with new background search functionality), fixing some more bugs and we might throw in some new modifiers if you're lucky!
SAF Development Update! Team Management!
Back once again!
Hello!
In this update we have a few new bits:
Team Management! You can now change formations and substitute players before and during the match (as can the AI teams)! This addition also brings with it the substitutions
bench!
Time out handling Players are now restrained to a certain amount of time to take their actions (Like free kick, throw in etc).
Referee Advantage The ref now lets play continue if it is an advantageous situation, he even does silly arm gestures and all!
Injury Time All those fouls now add up to injury time at the end. Also better End of game handling
Player Energy Players get tired from running, kicking and everything else modern footballers do. Some players are fitter than others, so keep an eye on your team management to make sure no one is getting exhausted.

SAF Development Update! Beta Now Available!
Hello! Long time no speak.
We're very happy to say that there is a new beta branch available for anyone to test! It will be updated FAR more regularly with fixes and changes.
Here's how to:
Go to the library page on steam
In the games column on the left, right click Super Arcade Football
Click Properties

That's it!
At the moment, it's purely just new basic game play and new UI. We have locked out all features other than quick match as they are still under construction; but rather than keeping you waiting with no updates, we wanted to at least give something new for you to play, and give feedback on.
Hopefully you will see an improvement from the current version. We've taken a lot into consideration, slowed things down a bit, made crosses and headers easier and changed the movement too, as well as quite a few other bits and bobs. It's still not 100% there, things need to be neatened up and reviewed, but we think it's in a good enough state for people to get their hands on and give a go.
You can also abuse the ref by tackling him or smashing the ball at him, time for revenge!
The AI has had a rewrite too, and in this first pass it seems to be quite a beast (I'm not ashamed to admit that my Arsenal lost 7-1 to Jamaica).
We have rewritten a large chunk of the game play, and restructured a large majority of our code, hence why things have appeared to be not developing that fast. But behind the scenes, things are much easier for us to maintain and add to.
Everything is still up for review, and we will be making many more changes in the following weeks.
So what's next?
We are working towards the next major update which will have all the tournaments, online matchmaking and custom games added back, as well as more modifiers, teams and tournaments. Until we get there, we will be continuously updating this beta branch. And once everyone's happy with it, we will switch it over to the main default game and continue on adding more content, more game modes, and the big momma: Career.
People have been mentioning beating other games to market, console releases and what not, but we feel we haven't truly taken advantage of Early Access yet (even though we've been here for bloody ages), we want to make the game great first, then the rest shall follow.

SAF Development Update!
We're on our waaaay, on our way! To the next update, we're on our way!!
** Please note, this is a development blog/update, the new version of SAF is not quite ready, but we are getting there! **
Hello! Although there's still no fresh update for you to try (yet), we thought we'd let you know how we are getting on, show the progress we have been making, and let you know that we are still here working hard on the next big update!
Penalties
We've added a much better penalty system, so finally you can control the goal keeper and dive for the ball!
Kicks
We've reviewed all the kicks in the game, making them look better and easier to perform special kicks like bicycle kicks and headers!
Crossing the ball into the area is much better now too!
Almost as good as Emre Can's
Other Gameplay revisions
We've been rewriting the all the match states so they are more robust and play better (setting up free kicks, throw-ins and the like). As well as reworking some of the player physics and collisions. And that's not mentioning the new UI and modifiers!
We really want to get this update out soon, and as soon as it's ready for testing we will put out an announcement for anyone willing to test.

SAF Hotfix Update
♫ We forgot, we forgot, we forgot that you were here! ♪
It's high time for an update; and so we want to let you all know that we're still here working on the next big update, and to inform you of what we are getting up to.
But first up....
Hot Fix
We've just released a hot-fixed version (v.14.d), with a few big bug fixes (massive thanks again to those who brought those to our attention). The major ones are related to online and re-matching in general, so now inviting friends to play online should be working fine.
Unfortunately, what we are working on is not quite ready yet, but we didn't want to leave the game with these glaring problems so we thought better to fix them now by releasing this patch.
The next major update:
As we have mentioned before, we're going over the whole of the game and reworking/rewriting it for the better. This includes both UI and the game play, taking into consideration the mountain of feedback on the steam forums and what we have collected internally.
Things are shaping up well and we will release this new version for testing soon. We don't want to release it as the main public version until we (and more importantly, you lot) are happy with it. Meaning, no bugs and great game play.
A sneak peak at the new UI (work in progress) - Feedback is very much welcome.
As for where we are at with the game play; we've reviewed a large majority of the physics and animations, and are working towards a more dynamic AI (both for your team mates and CPU opponents). Also we've been working on new in-match graphics and working towards a couple of new modifiers too.
We've also added celebrations which are quite fun (not so much for the conceding team however)

We believe SAF can be a brilliant game and we are 100% committed to getting there.

Happy Belated New Year!
Welcome to our first update of 2017! We have high hopes for this year, and we are doing our very best to make SAF an absolutely top notch arcade footy game.
We have big plans and are in the process of truly taking the game to the next level. In the words of every Liverpool supporter ever:
“This year is going to be our year!”

Now, let’s talk about our plans for this year:
We briefly talked about our overview for the game last year. We’re still on track, but the next few updates will bring big changes to SAF...for the better!
New UI / Graphics Continuing on with the graphics revamp, we will be updating the menus to a much higher level of polish, as well as all the graphical graphics in the game.
New / Improved Gameplay We are mercilessly combing through the whole gameplay (physics, movements...you name it!) and improving what works and rewriting all that doesn’t. We think we have a good core at the moment, but there is so much to be improved, and now is the time to nail that down. We want all fun and no bugs.
Adding remaining Features Once we (and you lot) are pretty happy with the above, we will then be able to add in all the missing features/modifiers and so on.
So there will be fewer updates, but when we do, they will be much richer in content.
That’s pretty much it for this announcement. We hope you all like the new models, we’ve got lots more to add, and now we have our 3D whiz Natale, we are in a good position to make the game look super good!
