šŸš€ The Journey Continues: A New Chapter Beyond the Prologue

Dear Super Dungeon Maker Fans,

... But don't worry – the adventure continues! We are in the final stages of adding exciting new features and updates to the game. These enhancements are designed to fully realize the potential of Super Dungeon Maker, offering you the ultimate dungeon creation and exploration experience.

And there's good news for those who don't yet own the full game: As part of the Steam Autumn Sale, we're offering "Super Dungeon Maker" at an attractive 40% discount! Seize this opportunity to dive into the expansive world of dungeon creation.

Let's keep creating creative and exciting dungeons together!

Some of you have been wondering why we've switched to the full version while we're still working on the game. The main reason is the release on Nintendo Switch, and also that we want to get feedback from even more players. Our loyal Early Access community has already helped us so much, and now we want to hear from more of you!

By the way, we've already been working on new updates and have added some fixes, like addressing bugs in the Mystic Garden theme over the weekend. We're always striving to improve the gaming experience as quickly as possible.

Our little challenge:

We want to reach 300 reviews and are asking you to share your thoughts in the form of a review. If you encounter any issues or have questions, please check out our Discord channel first. We're happy to help and clarify any uncertainties there.

Let's tackle this challenge together and make our game the best version it can be. We're looking forward to your reviews and constructive discussions!

Release Day reveal!

Hey Finkunity,
The time has finally come, and a few of you have already heard about it over Easter. There is an official release date for Super Dungeon Maker on Nintendo Switch and PC! LetĀ“s party and celebrate this incredible event and milestonešŸ’š

šŸŽ‰May 3rd 2023šŸŽ‰

We know you have a lot of questions and I“ll try to answer the most important directly for you!

Where can I wishlist SDM for Nintendo Switch?

Just press the button!

Will there be more content after the 1.0 Release?

Yes, it will. We even have a few things already prepared that won't make it into the game before release, remember that only one person can sit at the coding desk and it naturally takes a little longer to implement things. It is also important that we can't promise you now what will happen in 6 months. Our journey from release is dependent on whether or not we are successful with Super Dungeon Maker.

Why were the bug fixes in focus and not new content?

Also for this point, only one person can code, so the focus remains on the bugs, for now, to deliver Super Dungeon Maker as cleanly and polished as possible and not to have missed serious stopper bugs afterward.

What happens to the Kickstarter Rewards?

We are already working on the rewards in the background. However, most of these will make their way into the game after the release. Of course, these rewards will be coming 100%, after all, we want to keep our Kickstarter promises and not disappoint you.

Feedback

For those of you who are new to the Super Dungeon Maker family, we always appreciate feedback and reviews, so we know what's already good and where we can improve!

Spring Sale and Price adjustment incoming!

Hey Finkunity,

We're excited to announce the start of the Spring Sale on Steam and wanted to let you know about a great deal on Super Dungeon Maker! This is your last chance to grab a copy at the early access price and save some cash before we have to adjust the price.

After the Spring Sale, the final price for Super Dungeon Maker will be $19.99/€. By purchasing now, you can save 40% compared to the new price.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1622800/Super_Dungeon_Maker/

Why a price adjustment?

Firstly, we need to plan for the release of the Nintendo eShop pre-order page, and we're required to show the final price of $19.99/€ on this page. Therefore, we need to adjust the price on Steam accordingly.

Another main reason for the price adjustment is to ensure that the price matches the content that has already been released as well as the content that's planned for future releases. We communicated this to our community when we first started the early access phase, and although we knew that a price adjustment was inevitable, we aimed to remain within the price segment of indie games.

Inflation is another factor that has influenced our pricing decisions for Super Dungeon Maker. We've taken into account the increasing costs of production and distribution, as well as other product costs such as manpower, marketing, and developers' fees when making our pricing decisions.

Will there be more content?

Absolutely! We'll continue to expand the game's content based on user and community feedback, and we'll be communicating our roadmap for upcoming phases soon.

The final price of Super Dungeon Maker on both Steam and the Nintendo eShop will be $19.99/€. And, to give you a full overview, we've also prepared a summary of all the progress we've made during the past year of early access.

Thanks for your support and happy gaming!

  • Added tooltips and detailed explanations for most objects in the game.

Bug-Fixes

  • In some cases, restarting the dungeon would instead load a completely empty dungeon.
  • Fixed multiple issues relating to the Fill tool. It should now work more consistently, and performant and not result in a broken dungeon.
  • Some people had issues with uploading their dungeons and got a "metadata" size error. This should now be fixed. However, you will have to "Edit" and Save your existing dungeon again for the fix to apply.
  • When saving a dungeon, some tiles/rooms would become invisible.
  • Fixed some issues related to Undo/Redo. It should be more stable now; however, there are still issues remaining, which we are currently working on.
  • Sometimes, after exiting the Hen&Fam building, you would be stuck in a completely dark and empty space instead of the village.
  • Builder Avatars would only load correctly when viewing them for the first time.
  • Fixed multiple bugs that could occur when using the Undo and Redo buttons - some issues for undo/redo still remain for doors and containers with items inside.
  • Pressing "M" while typing in the bug report window would open the map instead. No more missing or weird letters in your bug reports needed.
  • Fixed one bug that resulted in a black screen after leaving the Hen & Fam building. However, there seem to be different issues at the base of this. Please continue reporting this bug if it happens to you.
  • The dungeon entrance door was visible even when Fink was in another room.
  • Pushable Blocks had the forest visuals in all dungeon themes, making them trivial to identify.
  • Flying Tiles would not work correctly on floors other than F1.
  • Objects would not show on the map when playing a Dungeon in play-only mode.
  • Stairs would not show on the map at all.
  • Fixed a few typos in English texts.
  • Doorways could be randomly stuck into and next to each other, creating unwalkable tiles and broken walls - Sorry, Xzibit.
  • Falling doors would close before the player could enter the room.
  • Killing the plant boss in the pre-created dungeons would not open the doors.
  • Heart UI was broken in pre-created dungeons.
  • Scrolling in the builder palette would not work.
  • Sliding Ice Blocks could get stuck in each other.
  • Movable statue had the wrong color in different dungeon themes.
  • Some buildables were not in the correct category in beach and castle settings.
  • The newly added lock-block was only available in the forest theme.
  • The pause menu would not close when pressing the Esc key.
  • You could accidentally build something by clicking on the area between category buttons.
  • Moving the palette selection with the D-Pad was inconsistent for horizontal inputs.
  • The object palette would be empty when trying to build in the building tutorial.
  • Display Setting window did not show up.
  • Spawners on the enemy channel would not work correctly.
  • Enemies would incorrectly affect events (doors/spawners) in other rooms.
  • Seasonal themes did not work correctly for dungeons uploaded during the event.
  • The compass did not correctly show icons on different floors.
  • Keys and Map Display would overlap.
  • Map Texture was too small.
  • The header bar in the "My Dungeons" Screen had the wrong size on none standard resolutions.
  • Map key was inconsistent for different keyboard layouts. Should now always be the "M" key.
  • Map Tiles can have weird artifacts on some resolutions (partially fixed).
  • Uploading/Removing Online Dungeons was not working.
  • Invisible Triggers were triggered by movable blocks.
  • (De-)spawners did not work consistently between build & play mode - This should now be solved and work as intended.

Your team @rokaplay and FIRECHICK

This is what has happened in the last 3 months.

Hey Fink“s friends,

We haven't posted any progress updates for a while, although we continued to update the game. The focus in development hasn't changed, but the marketing team has been busy with the Kickstarter. Therefore, a summary from September 14, 2022. A lot of it you've probably already found on your own, but I just didn't want to forget anything. (And yet it will happen).

There is a small spoiler section at the end of the news. You have been warned with it.

What's new?

  • Added a map icon to the UI to show if the map was selected and which key/button to press to open it
  • The compass will now play a sound cue when entering a room that contains a key.
  • Added a small pop up effect when collecting an item that shows you what you collected. You can finally see which item you got from a treasure chest.
  • We added tooltips for most objects that you can build into your dungeon.
  • Some objects offer more detailed explanations with the press of a button.
  • We added a lock block - Use a key to open the lock and destroy the block.
  • Save game notification. After 5 minutes without saving you will get a discreet info. Do you like the solution?

What's changed?

  • The compass will now play a sound cue when entering a room that contains a key.
  • We improved the menu controls for gamepad users - consistent navigation and better audio feedback for your actions.
  • Various minor updates to the User Interface.

Bug-Fixes

  • Map Texture was too small.
  • The compass did not correctly show icons on different floors.
  • Keys and Map Display would overlap.
  • Enemies would incorrectly affect events (doors/spawners) in other rooms.
  • Seasonal themes did not work correctly for dungeons uploaded during the event.
  • Spawners on the enemy channel would not work correctly.
  • The game may sometimes crash while closing the application - "YOU CAN'T FIRE ME! I QUIT!!!"

Known Issues

  • Downloading dungeons takes a long time - Currently looking into this
  • Some objects are still lacking their tooltips.

What's on our minds and what we're sitting on right now.

Of course we have been busy with Kickstarter lately, but Flonja and Adrian have been the main ones. Unfortunately, no "Updates News" came and we also heard you loudly that it is important to you. We will stay tuned, but we ask for your patience and understanding. We don't want to upset anyone with this, we ultimately want it to be a fantastic project. But we also need a lot of people to know that the game exists. And here the marketing team has to do a lot.

We are currently still sitting on a new theme. For this, Linda created beautiful pixelart graphics and Julian is hacking in Unity3D. At the same time we get a lot of feedback and change requests. We still have to sort it all out, but we appreciate your feedback.

I hope I could give you a good insight. We are looking forward to your feedback.

PS: We currently have 78 reviews on Steam. Let's make it to 100 soon.

  • Endless possibilities for puzzles
  • Decorate your level as you like
