Patch 1587 | Improved Saving System, New Tutorial, and More

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

We are making the final steps in our Early Access adventure and here goes the patch that will smooth up our way there. Be prepared and enjoy the changes we've made.

The biggest change is the improvement to the saving system, and we're particularly interested in hearing your thoughts on it. There is also a new tutorial, more house customization recipes, the ability to craft using items from nearby containers...

So, while you're updating the game, it's time to look at this patch in more detail. Shall we?

IMPROVED SAVING SYSTEM

The long-awaited improvements to the saving system have come! There are up to four profiles as separate games you can simultaneously play with each one having 10 saving slots. You can save and load them on demand (except for the Iron Man mode).

NEW TUTORIAL

With the game having developed so far, we felt that the existing tutorial should be improved. We’ve studied a lot of your feedback to make onboarding more intuitive and player-friendly.

The new tutorial sequence includes a small island within which a new player learns all basic game mechanics before heading to the Island of Hope. There are new quests and various changes so that players’ exploration of the Bird region is more enjoyable and that the learning curve is not so steep anymore.

Hopefully, these changes are all for the better. Looking forward to your feedback and comments!

IMPROVEMENTS

  • More decor blueprints! The list includes chairs (and the ability to sit on them) + a table, a bench, and a stool, as well as several items from Santiago: a wall anchor, a captain's plate, and ship paddles.

  • Now you can use items not only from your Inventory but also from containers nearby. It works for crafting, building, repairing, installing traps, and farming. Less leg work, more arm work!
  • One more resource management improvement! When interacting with a container, you can now move all stacks of duplicate items with one button (stacks that are both in the inventory and the container).
  • Optimized physics of objects and surfaces’ behavior for better performance.

FIXES

  • Added the possibility of not using tinder during the ignition process
  • Changed the color of the wood material (now houses and some machines will look a little different)
  • Added a ‘News’ window in the main menu of the game. Because there will be news!
  • Fixed mines’ holes on the Island of Hope
  • Fixed the scroll button visibility
  • Fixed animal outlines in Concentration mode
  • Improved the disclaimer during the game launch
  • Changed how goals are displayed: when all mandatory steps in a group are completed, the next group is activated and shown in HUD (so quests with optional steps work correctly)
  • Bird Potion balance fix
  • Fixed the barrel on the Lonely Rock
  • Localization changes
  • Multiple visual fixes

SEA WOLF PACK

We're happy to announce that the Sea Wolf Pack DLC is out and available for purchase! It’s a set of cosmetic items for your home for those who want to elevate the naval theme in their homes.

The Sea Wolf pack contains 8 blueprints of various maritime items:
  • a ship’s bell that will ring when poked around.
  • an anchor to place on the floor of your home.
  • a ship’s helm to be placed on any wall you want.
  • a spinning globe from the 16th century with the known coast at the time.
  • a scaled model of Santiago.
  • two historical maps of the New World, the map of Piri Reis and the map of Juan de la Cosa to display on walls.
  • a Captain’s Hat with nice bonuses including +100% protection from the sun, +25% protection from the wind, cold, and rain; +5 armor; -5% wound chance and decreasing poison chance.

With the release of this pack, we want to provide you with the option of additional customization of your houses. We hope you'll enjoy this new DLC, as it would also be very helpful for the game development.

Alright, that's enough for now - but not for today, as a bit later we're announcing the full release date (finally)!

Have a great week, enjoy the update, and stay tuned for more news!

Important | Steps to follow before the next patch

Hello, Fountain Seekers!

Next week we're releasing the last regular patch before the full release. Among other things, it will include an improved saving system with the possibility to save and load the game on demand (except Iron Man mode), have various saving profiles, etc. Basically, everything you've been asking us for.

Your saves should be okay after the patch is released. But as it is quite a complex change, we want to advise you to take some extra steps.

So, just in case, please do the following steps before April 15th:

1. Follow the path to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Odinsoft\
2. Copy and paste your whole 'Survival Fountain of Youth' folder on your desktop or somewhere else

If there are some issues with loading your game progress after the upcoming patch release (scheduled for April 15th), you can replace your game 'Survival Fountain of Youth' folder with this one.

But once again, we did our best for this save transition to go smoothly, so you could just load your game and enjoy the improvements brought with this patch.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the Community Hub or on our Discord channel.

Dev Diary | Da Vinci's Ark

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

As the release of the final story chapter is getting closer, it’s time to show you something we’ve been working on. Has anyone asked for a huge ship on which you can build a full base?

We want to introduce you to a new top-tier sea vessel you’ll be able to obtain in the late game. Please meet the Ark ship — a marvel of naval design supposedly made by the schemes of a legendary inventor Leonardo da Vinci.

An exceptional construction allows this vessel to be controlled even by a single experienced sailor, making it a fantastic choice for a lone survivor and an avid explorer.

It is a fast, sturdy, and reliable ship. However, its main advantage over any existing sea vessel in the game is the number of crafting machines that can be installed in it.

The upper deck is equipped with an exceptional storage space with several log storages, a large container, and a comfortable bed to sleep in the fresh air.

It also includes an important tool for underwater exploration — a winch serving for uplifting items from the sea bed that will play an important role in the final story chapter and exploration.

At the bow of the ship, the Ark has a large caliber cannon (a place to install it, to be exact). No, there will be no enemies attacking your ship, but it will be necessary to move forward through the story. We won’t be releasing any spoilers just yet.

The cargo hold is another exciting feature as it not only provides spacious storage space but also allows you to build any structures or machines you want (limited by the size of this area).

A true definition of a floating base that you can arrange to your liking, have everything you need for travels, and make every place feel like home.

The Ark will become available with the last content update/full release, which date is going to be announced very soon. So stay tuned, dear Fountain Seekers, and prepare for the final challenges!

Happy Lunar New Year!

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

We would like to wish you all a happy Lunar New Year, which, by the way, is the year of the Dragon. Let the Dragon's traits — primarily, confidence and strength — give all of us the energy to achieve goals in the coming year. As for us, it will be an important year — the full release of Survival: Fountain of Youth is scheduled for Q2 2024.

To celebrate this great event, we added Moon Lantern as an in-game craftable object. It's a decorative lantern for illuminating surroundings. The blueprint is available for all players, it unlocks after studying Lamp Oil. Looks cool, isn’t it?

Let this Moon Lantern bring you luck and lighten your days!

Patch 1527 | New Chests, Bookshelf, Moon Lantern, and More

Welcome to 2024! The new year brings new challenges, new opportunities, and, of course, new updates!

Today’s patch contains some useful and nice items for your houses, as well as a bunch of improvements and bug fixes.

NEW ITEMS

  • New storage options! Copper and Iron chests can accommodate up to 400 and 600 weight units respectively, while also quintupling food preservation time. Last but not least, these chests just look super cool with all those metal elements (yeah, you’ll need some ingots for those).
  • Some of you have asked about our recent change to skill books (they don’t disappear after you read them anymore), and here’s why it was implemented. A bookshelf. Can contain up to 12 books, which makes your house look more comfortable and also lets you physically observe all the knowledge you possess.
  • The newly added Moon Lantern will illuminate and help you admire all those chests and bookshelves you’ll place in your house. It’s a special decorative item to commemorate the Lunar New Year for everyone who celebrates it and to improve the interior of their houses for everyone who wants it.

IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES

  • Dead bosses’ carcasses no longer spoil and turn into skeletons, so if you weren’t fast enough to loot a defeated boss — don’t worry! It’s still there, with all the goodies inside.
  • Fixed the issue with tier 1 campfire being affected by wind inside a house.
  • The harvest page does not open for an object with no available resources anymore.
  • Switch to the global map button is now highlighted.
  • Fixed the Living Water placement on the Copper Island. It does not fall under terrain now.
  • Fixed the issue with the Great Serpent when its body could rot and it became impossible to retrieve the key.
  • Fixed the bug with the Great Serpent not appearing on the arena if a player entered it.
  • Fixed the issue with some hints displayed even after toggling “Hide hints” and skipping the tutorial.
  • Fixed the bug with dead animals' carcasses spinning.
  • Fixed the bug with the log disappearing when taking it from a cart while having Heatstroke IV status.
  • Fixed the bug with the farm disappearing and not being able to interact with plants after the foundation under the farm was disassembled.
  • Fixed the issue with the yellow marker appearing in the Crafting menu when building a Stormbreaker and not disappearing afterward.
  • Fixed the Hydrilla positions in the Bird, Buffalo, and Snake regions. All hydrillas do not float in water anymore.
  • Fixed a flying object over the Engineer’s camp on Silver Island.
  • Fixed the labyrinth path after the puzzle was solved. A piece of rock does not block the bridge anymore.
  • Improved animals’ behavior.
  • Breathing bubble resources fix.
  • Fixed the number of holes in which players could get stuck.
  • Textures fixes on the Iron Island.
  • Multiple visual fixes.

WHAT’S NEXT

Given it's already 2024 and the full release date is coming closer and closer, we'd like to give you some heads up on what we are doing and where the development is going right now. We're fully focused on finishing the game and developing the final story chapter for the full release coming in Q2 2024. But before that, we're also planning to release an update with some important improvements: save system rework, better game tutorial sequence, new decorations for houses, and more.

And, of course, we never stop fixing bugs and improving the in-game experience for you, so if you have something to report, suggest, or discuss, feel free to contact us in Steam Discussions, at support@odinsoft.com, and on our official Discord server!

Survival: Fountain of Youth Supporter Pack Is Out On Steam!

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

The last days before Christmas are super exciting for everyone and it's the best time for surprises. And this is our surprise for you: we're super pleased to announce that Survival: Fountain of Youth Supporter Pack is OUT NOW and available for purchase!

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

*sounds of wrapping paper tearing*

1. The in-game recipe for Amigo, an ancient leather ball and an eternal source of psychological support for a shipwreck survivor. It bounces off surfaces, glows in the dark, keeps insects away when placed on the ground nearby, and gives a 5% bonus to sleep comfort.

You can also craft several Amigos! They won’t substitute your missing ship crew though.

The recipe will become available for everyone in the Crafting tab ("Other items" category) after purchasing the pack and restarting the game. Amigo is crafted with a liana and two narrow leaves, so you can easily craft another one if you lose it or many of them if you want to populate the whole Island of Hope with Amigos.

2. As if Amigo wasn't awesome enough, we've also got eleven 16th-century ambient tunes from the game for you to enjoy. Listen to them directly on Steam or download the whole soundtrack and embark on an atmospheric journey in search of eternal youth - wherever you are

Not pressing or anything, but our Supporter Pack will be available with a 20% discount till January 4th: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2722240/Survival_Fountain_of_Youth_Supporter_Pack/

We've had a fantastic 2023 and we're really grateful for the support of our amazing community since we launched the game in April. We’d like to express our gratitude to everyone who decides to purchase our Supporter Pack and hope you'll truly enjoy its contents!

Have yourselves a wonderful time over the next couple of weeks! We'll be back with more news in 2024, so stay tuned!

Patch 1486 | Snake Region Boss, Ships Disassembling, and More

Hello, Fountain Seekers!

Hope you are enjoying your adventures in the Snake region! In the meantime, we’re bringing even more content to keep you there during these long winter evenings. Without further ado, here’s the list of new features and bug fixes coming with patch 1486!

NEW BOSS

The Snake region boss is finally in the game! Yes, one more boss to test your combat skills. Do we want to tell you what it is? Well, this should already be clear from the region naming. So, bring your best equipment and head to the highest point of Silver Island. And yes, there is a special prize for the victory!

  • If you have items with low durability, you’ll now get a special HUD warning in the right part of the screen. Your belt is about to break? Repair it just in time!
  • We added new ambient music in several places in the Snake region. More immersion is always nice, isn’t it?
