FAO: ALL SWITCH PILOTS
It has been brought to the academy's attention that a number of Switch Pilots have been involved with the distribution of contraband entertainment products - commonly referred to as "Steam Trading Cards" - among other decorative trinkets, posters, etc.
The full list comprises:

  • 6 trading cards
  • 5 emoticons
  • 5 badges (or was it 6...?)
  • 4 profile backgrounds

Your good admiral expresses deep concern regarding the trading or display of aforementioned items and wishes to make clear that their use is to be strictly limited to personal use in personal time. Anyone caught trading any of these items will receive a disciplinary and/or a smacked bottom.
Signed,
Admiral Odessa

Switch 'N' Shoot - out now!

Switch 'N' Shoot is now available on Steam!

So fire up your Switch Craft and get your trigger finger ready (remember: one button means you only need one trigger finger).

A sincere note

Making this game has been full of ups and downs and a lot of hard work, but I'm so excited to finally be releasing it to the world.

My gratitude goes out to everyone who voted on Greenlight and supported the game during Early Access. It quite literally would not be here without you. Thank you!

I hope you have fun, share your scores and tell a friend if you like it!

- Matt

P.S. Early release is the new delayed release.

Full release coming 18th October!

I am very pleased to announce that Switch 'N' Shoot is leaving Early Access and getting its full Steam release on 18th October!

The game is currently about 1/3 off, but it will go up to full price on release. So if you consider yourself a cheapskate, now would be a great time to snap it up.

Undecided?

Take a look at what the players are saying (spoiler: as I write this 100% of the reviews are positive. Definitely not bragging, just trying to help you make an informed decision).

Already got it?

Help the unenlightened make that decision by sharing your thoughts in a review!

Not interested?

Well, you can't please everyone I suppose. But I hope you find something more to your liking.

Version 0.18.7 now available

This update 'hyperdrives' the following 'exciting' features into the game:

  • Added controller support for Quit/Back function (not that you'd ever want to stop playing). By default, it uses "START" on an Xbox 360 controller, which is "joystick button 7", so if you're using a different controller or using a Mac it may be mapped to a different button. Luckily, this patch also features...
  • Added option to remap Quit/Back to a different button. This supports 2 separate bindings at a time (one for keyboard/mouse, one for controller/joystick).
  • Reduced the requirement for 'Ultrahyperdrive' achievement from 500 to 250.
  • Reduced the requirement for 'Yakety Sacs' achievement from 100 to 50.
  • Added "Steamworks . NET" to credits list.
  • Updated my personal default high score. Beat that.

Please help to spread the word by telling a friend or sharing your thoughts with a review on Steam. It really does help a lot!

This game is so close to final release, I can almost taste it. It tastes a bit weird to be honest. Won't be doing that again.

Version 0.18.6 now available

The latest patch addresses the following issues:

  • Fixed crash on game start on Linux.
  • Added Achievements button to Extras menu.
  • Fixed screen shake continuing if you die when the laser walls are active.
  • Fixed some 'external link' GUI buttons remaining highlighted after selecting them.

A huge thank you to forum user BlaXpirit for support with the crash, and apologies for the inconvenience it caused players on Linux.

If you experience any other problems, please post them on the discussion boards and I'll do everything I can to fix them.

Happy switchin' 'n' shootin'!

Steam Achievements & Stats now available

Beta version 0.18.5 is live & adds support for Steam Achievements & Stats!

View the list of all 16 achievements here.

Stats and achievements are updated when you hit Game Over to avoid annoying distractions when you're in the zone.

You can view your stats by heading to the PLUS+ menu from the title screen.

As a bonus, if you've been playing the earlier builds, your stats should be preserved and automatically uploaded to the Steam servers when you next play.

This update marks the last major changes to the game, which means it's on track to leave Early Access in October as originally planned! There are some final tweaks and bug fixes I'd like to make before then.

Stay tuned and follow @crowbarska on Twitter for the latest news.

Time to start unlocking those chevos!

Please note that stats and achievements may be reset before final release, but I'll try to avoid this if possible.

Steam Leaderboards now available

Beta version 0.18.4 is live & adds support for Steam Leaderboards!

Go and check them out if you don't believe me.

Your scores will be posted automatically whenever you hit Game Over (you've been seeing that quite a lot, right?).

There are two leaderboards:
  • Best Score
  • Sector Reached

There's also a new icon in the Game Over and Extras screens which will take you straight to the leaderboards in your web browser.

Now go and work your way to the top, pilot!

Please note that the leaderboards may be reset before final release, but I'll try to avoid this if possible.

Version 0.18.3 now available

I've just released another patch with the following fixes:

  • Fixed web links not opening on Linux.
  • Fixed full screen setting not being read correctly on Mac and Linux (it now checks actual screen state instead of PlayerPrefs).
  • Fixed some keyboard/controller menu navigation not moving to the expected icon.

Also, in case you missed it, there was an interim patch on Mac (0.18.2.2) which fixed the game failing to run at all. Apologies to anyone inconvenienced by this issue.

If you had similar problems, post in the Discussions and I'll do my best to fix them. http://steamcommunity.com/app/498470/discussions/

Thank you for your support!

Version 0.18.2 now available

Hi everyone! Thanks for all your support in the first few days on Steam. I really am so grateful that you took the time to check out my little game.

I've just released the first Steam patch which contains these changes:

  • Fixed resolution and border art breaking when you start the game in windowed mode. (If you continue to experience problems, you may need to delete all 3 "Screenmanager" settings in the registry to reset it. Drop a comment below if you're unsure how to do this. Alternatively, you can delete all save data from the Options menu BUT you will lose all your high scores with this method.)
  • You can now press Escape to back out to the title screen, or quit the game if you're already on the title screen.
  • Dialogue now displays faster in menus.
  • Mac version now runs without the menu bar and dock. I'd appreciate feedback from Mac users about what works best for you.

Also, you may notice that the game skipped version 0.18.1. This update only contained fixes for the Google Play version so I didn't release it for Windows, Mac or Linux. I like to keep the version numbers in sync so don't worry, you're not missing out on anything.
