End of the road...


Dear friends,

Sadly, about one year after the release of the game, I would like to announce the end of this project.

Thank you to all who bought the game. Thanks to all who gave encouraging feedback, and of course thanks to those of you who were very critical.

I have to admit that this game did not achieve it's direct objective, and that's why I decided to close it. Building a game with 0% pre-designed animations and 100% procedural character behavior, computed at run time, was not as trivial as I initially hoped it would be.

Despite all that one and a half years after starting to work on this project I am convinced that the goal of creating a game where the characters are controlled like robots with their behavior being computed at run time instead of pre designed in static animations is absolutely realistic and achievable. Even though this particular game did not quite get there, it initiated the foundation of character manipulation framework, capable to handle this task as of today.

Why then I don't update the game right now you may ask? The thing is that the changes to not only the underlying framework, but also the paradigm how it's used and applied, are so significant, so that rewriting it would be more like writing a new game. I wish I had the answers I have now, a year ago. So the most logical decision at this point is to close this game and start new project.

If you have purchased it you can still play it, there will be no limitations of any kind.

And once again I want to emphasize that by playing the game, and giving your feedback you helped for the creation of new character manipulation framework that will demonstrate it's capabilities in new products, very soon.

Free Demo

Now the game has free demo where you can play levels 1 to 4 if you are not sure you want to buy it.

Update 1.2.1

From this update, in levels 4+ you will be facing multiple attackers at the same time.

I will create proper trailer tomorrow, but for now just quick look how fight with multiple attackers looks like.

Let me know if it is too easy or too hard.

This update adds more power to the player in combat.

You can cut the heads or limbs of your opponents.

More updates of the combat comes by the end of this week.

Update 1.1.5 - Aikido Style Throws

I think before getting the combat on the ships I need to make it a bit more engaging and fun, even if that means being a bit less realistic.

This is the first in a series of updates that will roll within next couple of weeks. It brings aikido style throws, please note this is just the beginning. The combat will be redone by the end of June.

Let me know if there are specific additions to combat that you want to see.

Update 1.1.0 - Sea Quest (First Demo Video)

In this update you can try the first demo of soon to come Viking Sea Quest.

For now what is enabled is controlling the viking ships, navigation, crashing ships, sounds.

In a couple of weeks I will start to introduce combat there. The combat will include both trying to sink enemy ships and when that fails or if you need their cargo fighting them with sword and shield.

Updates 1.0.24, 25

Today 2 updates with:

- New Music

- Resolution between opponent sword and shield clipping finally resolved!

- Fixed other bugs

Update 1.0.21

In this update:

1. closing a number of vulnerabilities in the defense of opponent

2. changed the logic of movement of the opponents

3. more agile opponents

4. getting rid of the special power swords, instead the accent will be on the ship battle quest

Next I want to focus on the Ship Battle quest. By the end of May you can try basics as single player. Later this summer it will be co-opp multiplayer.
