Check out our patch notes for details on all the improvements: [dynamiclink href="https://steamcommunity.com/games/2428730/announcements/detail/545611272206420614"]We've got more features and changes coming to our Early Access version and once again, we'd like to discuss a select few along with a short video presentation. Many of these focus particularly with the convenience of gameplay in mind.[/p]
[p]The Evidence Hint system: A new feature introduced in an effort to make the Evidence collection aspect of the game more manageable. This should prove helpful, for example, in case you get stuck on finding a particularly difficult to spot piece of evidence or elusive suspect.[/p][p]A voiced report from TOC informs you about the location of this objective and a prompt on screen directs you towards it. We're currently considering scaling this feature across difficulty levels.[/p]
[p]Filter for door-related commands: From now, the commands you can issue to your SWAT officers that are related to doors and doorways are dependent on both on the state of that given door together with the equipment available to your squad. [/p][p]In order to know how you can proceed with the door, you need to investigate it with your Officers stacking up on it and if it turns out to be locked, you can proceed with lockpicking or breaching commands.[/p][p]This serves to both add more realism to the game and clean up the Command List considerably.[/p]
[p]The "Search and Secure" Command: A new command joins the SWAT arsenal! With Search and Secure, you can have your team or your entire squad perform a search of a cleared room for Suspects, Civilians, or Evidence to secure. [/p][p]The AI system selects appropriate targets in an organized way and completes these objectives for you. Just make sure to be on alert as severe vulnerability is the cost of this procedure![/p]

Our today's report discusses the latest improvements added to the upcoming Early Access version of the game since the prologue's release. There's plenty to choose from, and we'll cover more in our next devlogs, but for now have our first picks:
Character responses to gunshots: For improved realism, the game's characters will now have a broader range of responses to weapons being discharged or similar response-inducing situations, such as restrained suspects flinching if there's someone firing a gun nearby.
Improved AI following: Targeting, positioning, providing cover. There are lots of factors a SWAT squad has to take into account when following their leader if they're to be safe and effective. We're working to optimize the various behaviors connected with these actions to make them as helpful to you as possible in single player.
Equipment presets: Figured out a few gear setups you'd like to use when fulfilling different roles in the squad? Want to save them and freely change them when playing the missions either in single player or co-op? You'll be able to do just that with the preset feature. Our future updates will include default presets that can perform well in various situations.
Character selection for co-op: Step into the shoes of your chosen officer in a multiplayer session of SWAT Commander. You'll be able to play the role of any of our brave officers!

The free co-op SWAT Commander prologue is now available to all!
We need to mobilize as many SWAT units as possible. The violent shootout at a local service station needs your immediate intervention in the ""Hot Reception"" mission. So get together with your fellow officers to restore peace and order in one of three available game modes! ๐จ

The time has finally come! We're proud to announce that SWAT Commander's free prologue is going to officially become available here on Steam on April 4th!
As a reminder โ SWAT Commander: Prologue is fully co-op, so grab a few friends to tackle the challenges of the "Hot Reception" mission! Take note: You 'can' start the game as a single player by readying up in the multiplayer lobby by yourself but this increases the difficulty considerably!
Enter the Bernard Tire & Auto Center to resolve the aftermath of a brutal gang shootout and bring the perpetrators of the resulting violence to justice.
The mission can be played in three different game modes, altering its objectives. Study the operation's briefing, manage your officer's equipment loadout, and select either of two different entry points for the designated area to commence the intervention.

Meet Eddie Wiser, the unlikely hero of our new project's story. Though he may not seem like it, Eddie's been handy with the hammer and wrench ever since he was just a wee troublemaker.
Always tinkering with one machine or another and with an equal penchant for running into trouble with the law, he eventually grew up to be a sly entrepreneur. And his brilliant scheme of the day is to run a laundromat as a front for a whimsical forgery workshop hidden away in its back!
What led him to such a wild enterprise? Well, it'll be your job as the player to find out as you help Eddie run his daily activities:
Serving the laundromat's customers
Repairing machines
Decorating your venue
Ordering supplies
Placing all the different items and managing space
Handling laundromat finances
Assembling various counterfeiting machines in the back
Selling the different fakes to your friendly neighborhood fence
Accepting special counterfeiting jobs
Dealing with the local mob and authorities
Taking care of an infuriating grandmother

The suspects in SWAT Commander are dangerous! Weโve made significant upgrades to their combat capabilities, ensuring they pose a realistic challenge during missions.
Suspect Combat Enhancements
Better Aiming: Suspects are more realistically accurate and responsive with their weapons, maintaining the intensity of encounters but making them manageable.
Smart Grenade Usage: Expect suspects to deploy grenades, keeping your team on their toes.
Enhanced Noise Detection: Suspects will detect gunfire more precisely, even differentiating between suppressed and unsuppressed weapons.
These changes add a new layer of realism and challenge to every operation. Adapt your tactics and stay vigilantโyour foes are learning! ๐ฎ

In this update we describe our change to how civilians will react more dynamically to the chaos of a mission, making protection and restraint an even bigger challenge.
Civilian Behavior
Hereโs whatโs in the improvement:
Hiding: During a shootout, civilians will instinctively look for places to hide, adding realism and tension.
Increased Mobility: Civilians will now move around the map more frequently, creating unpredictable scenarios for your team.
Fleeing Danger: When danger is near, civilians are more likely to run from it, making quick reactions crucial to ensure their safety.
This change adds complexity to your missions โ keeping civilians safe while managing suspects just got a whole lot harder. We canโt wait to see how you adapt to these situations! ๐

Here's something we added for the sake of both our new and returning players and the experience it's meant to improve for you through visual enhancements. There are a few such changes we're introducing, so we'll write more about them in future posts as they become ready.
Weather and time-of-day variants
The various missions of SWAT Commander will be available in randomly selected variants for weather and time-of-day combinations. However, our system will track your previous configuration, so it doesn't repeat throughout mission playthroughs.
This opens possibilities of replaying your favorite mission under an entirely different mood or setting. Silence of the Hansons in broad daylight? Hot Reception with a roaring thunderstorm outside? All a possibility. โ๏ธ
Whatโs more, these conditions affect the behavior of characters, adding another tactical layer to the game. For example, manipulating the fuse box at night can give you an advantage by making it harder for Suspects to aim but instantly making them alert. Mind the mission briefing, however. Some Suspects may come equipped for such circumstances! ๐ฆ

2025 is the year of SWAT Commander โ it's when we'll finally be ready to launch early access. Stay tuned for announcements about relevant dates concerning the free prologue and the game itself.
In the time leading up to these releases, we want to start posting some more regular development updates here on Steam. We've gone through a few playtests, gathered a lot of feedback, and realizing there's a lot we still needed to do to bring you the best game that we could, introduced lots of different changes and enhancements to SWAT Commander, both visually and gameplay-wise. โญ
Automatic area cover
SWAT Commander can only benefit from improvements to the officer's AI, so this feature has been one of many aspects we're focusing on. With the officers being more responsive and effective in single-player, it'll obviously be a better experience with the game.
One way we can accomplish this is by having them relocate properly after combat, in accordance with police protocol. Now your squad takes advantageous positions in the room when they're done engaging hostiles. Ones that offer the most protection in case weapons go hot again. ๐๏ธ
