Patch 0.2.4

In this update, we have reworked player movement, combat and the group system.

Movement Rework
Player movement should be a bit better while using the keyboard, and players can now fully explore the world! You can now jump over obstacles, swim in water and take falling damage (cliffs no longer prevent you from falling down the side of them). We have also added optional pathfinding to mouse movement so when you click to move while holding Shift, your player will find a path around objects that might be in your way.

Combat Rework
Combat is no longer turn-based and instead uses an Attack Rate stat. This value is the delay between auto attacks, and is affected by Dexterity (renamed the Ranged stat) and also the weapon you're using. The melee lock mechanic has also been removed, allowing combat to flow better.

We have also added a threat system to PvE mobs. This means that mobs will always target the player that has the highest amount of threat on their list, providing a more interesting PvE experience when playing with a group.

PvP Adjustments
Along with the combat rework, PvP mechanics have been altered slightly.

As before, players can enable pvp with the skull button next to the minimap or with the /pvp chat command. PvP will remain enabled until toggled off manually by the player, even across game sessions, but now PvP can also be turned off using the skull button or by typing /pvp. When a player turns PvP off, a timer starts which counts lasts for 20 in-game minutes, and only after this timer reaches 0 PvP is disabled. This PvP timer will only decrease while the player is logged in and in Astaria (paused in dungeons). If a player attacks or heals a PvP player, the timer will reset for the attacker. The PvP timer is also locked in combat, so it will not decrease until you leave combat.

Instead of the old system where you'd get a skull when attacking someone, players who have PvP enabled will now always have a skull over their character. Players who have PvP enabled will drop their equipment on death and lose gold.

Halloween
The Halloween event is active! You will find Halloween themed objects around the world, as well as some special timed events that occur at different times during the day. There are collectible hats and mounts, sold by a limited vendor in Brightwyn, and also a small Halloween themed quest.

    • Realm selection is now more prominent on the Title screen
    • There is now a confirmation window for learning craft recipes
    • Zombie Mount is now 60% speed
    • You can buy Zombie Mount for Florin Arena Tokens outside the Florin Arena
    • You can buy Spider Mount for Florin Arena Tokens outside the Florin Arena
    • Nameplates for players, enemies and npcs are now color coded a little better (player in group / guild, enemy aggressiveness, etc.)
    • Named the area around Howl Tower to Duskhallow (was previously part of Westmallow)
    • Upcoming and Active Events are now shown on the UI as progress bars instead of being announced constantly
    • Right click targeting is now a toggle in the options menu
    • Added shortcut keys to target party members (default CTRL + F1-F4)
    • Added a new flight path between Clearwolf and Albahr
    • Added a new flight path between Brightwyn and Albahr
    • Stand/Sit tooltip on actionbar will now display both regen bonuses instead of the currently active one
    • Added a new level 20 40% speed mount, Yellow Forest Bat, which can be purchased for 16 Racing Badges from the Florin Fields Race Manager NPC
    • Increased badge cost of Black Boar to 22 (previously 20)
    • Players with PvP enabled now have red nameplates when appropriate instead of showing '[PvP Enabled]' text ('PvP Enabled' is still displayed on player tooltip)
    • Improved loot for all chests in Astaria
    • Added /showrace emote that displays your fastest Florin Fields race time
    • Added a button on the chat window for easy access to emoticons
    • Completely disabled PvP combat inside the Florin Arena due to the event being altered to be more community oriented
    • Removed the auto respawn timer when you die

  • Stats

    • The Ranged stat has been renamed to Dexterity
    • Players, NPCs and enemies now have an Attack Rate stat
    • Dexterity will now slightly increase Melee damage
    • Strength with now slightly increase Ranged damage

  • Items

    • All weapons now have a speed value that affects the player's Attack Rate
    • Added over 400 new weapons to balance out the drop rates between different weapon types and rarities

  • Crafting

    • Increased batch crafting experience to 50% that of normal crafting xp (up from 25%)
    • Increased amount of time batch crafting takes per item to 1 second (up from 0.15 seconds)

  • Player Movement

    • Re-wrote all player movement code to reduce rubberbanding
    • Jumping now actually makes you jump
    • Removed 'invisible' collision restrictions, allowing you to move freely around the world
    • There are now 'Fatigue' zones to prevent players from wandering too far off into undeveloped areas
    • Players will now slide down steep slopes
    • Players will now take falling damage
    • Click to move now uses server pathfinding
    • Players can now swim in water (use Jump (spacebar) to float up and Sit (x) to float down)

  • Combat

    • Re-wrote a lot of the combat code, changing it into time-based combat instead of turn-based
    • Players must manually face their target to attack (target cannot be behind you)
    • Removed melee locking mechanic
    • Players will no longer automatically fight back when being attacked
    • Players must enable auto-attack via the key (default=V), or by right clicking the target
    • Added practice dummies in Brightwyn that cannot be killed
    • Added practice dummies of various strength around Brightwyn Arena that cannot be killed
    • Ranged weapons such as bows / wands can now be used as ranged weapons at all times, even in melee range
    • Some spells (mainly healing spells) now have a buffer distance, that allows the caster to complete the spell if the target runs out of the spell's range, but stays within the buffer range

  • PvE

    • Increased movement speed for Elite, Rare and Boss mobs
    • Some mobs will now attack from a distance (ranged) and can also cast spells
    • Mobs now have a threat system in place, causing them to target the highest player on their threat list
    • Added a boss for the upcoming Finhallow dungeon

  • PvP

    • Skull is now always active for players who enable PvP
    • PvP players will now always drop their inventory and equipment on death
    • Only those with PvP enabled can attack others who have PvP enabled
    • PvP players will lose part of their gold on death
    • PvP players gain 25% more combat experience than normal
    • Guards will no longer attack PvP enabled players without being provoked first (only if you initiate PvP combat near a guard)
    • Removed all single combat zone restrictions

  • Groups

    • Group leader is no longer automatically selected when the leader goes offline
    • If the leader leaves the group, a new leader will be chosen automatically by selecting the next available online member
    • Dungeons can now be entered without being in a group
    • Group member status can now be seen across servers (Dungeons <-> Astaria)
    • Group member status updates are now sent when a change occurs instead of the delayed updates
    • Leaving / getting kicked out of a group while inside a dungeon will instantly return the player to Astaria
    • Group actions (swapping leader, invite, kick) can now be done across servers (Dungeons <-> Astaria)
    • PvP icon is shown on group frames for players that have PvP enabled

    • Fixed issues with terrain for player footstep sfx

    • Dying in the new Duskhallow area will respawn you in Clearwolf (was previously Westmallow and would spawn in Seven Oaks)

    • Canceling the logout timer will now stop the logout timer correctly
    • The Florin Fields Race will now properly save your best time
    • Made some tweaks to combat, specifically when mobs are leaving a fight
    • If an enemy is killed in unwalkable areas (Phat Bunny in the water for example), their loot will be spawned at the enemy's spawn point instead of their death position
    • Enemy mobs are now affected by damage reduction status effects correctly
    • Fixed Mithril Skinning Knife icon and model

  • UI

    • Trade Skill nodes now display requirements again (but only when necessary)
    • Dragon Sight skill tooltip now displays effect description
    • Offline group members are no longer shown on world map
    • Moved Mouse and Keyboard rotatoin speed settings under the Camera header in the options menu (was slightly confusing what those values were controlling otherwise)
    • Fixed some friends list UI issues

  • Audio

    • The audio on Sprinker's projectile effects are now correctly controlled by the sfx volume setting
    • Sfx volume no longer affects Ambience volume

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, we've both just been rather busy with things other than Toast. Life just likes to rear its' ugly head sometimes, but we're still doing our best to make updates and improvements to the game! Thank you all for your continued patience and support.

Changes



  • Reduced cast time of Swift Step to 0.5 seconds
  • Slightly increased speed buff of Swift Step
  • Increased damage of Snipe
  • Poison Arrow is now an instant cast and does more damage

Patch 0.2.2j

While we continue working on the skills for 0.2.3, we figured we'd ship out a patch with some bug fixes:


  • You can now spawn firewood with Crafting. Use Flint to light it on fire, and you can then cook food on them, and those around the fireplaces receives various buffs depending on the tier of the fireplace.
  • Fixed bug where if you entered combat with no weapon on, you get stuck and combat stopped.
  • There is now a visual difference on the icons for the arch angel wings in the Crumbs shop.
  • Removed PvP information when leaving Brightwyn Forest.

Patch 0.2.2i

Changes

  • Added many more alchemy recipes, made them available at correct tiers and significantly lowered items required from alchemy recipes (from 18 powders to 4 powders).
  • Lowered required fish from 18 to 4 in the previously changed recipes.


Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the "Can not buy crumbs?" button in Crumbs GUI.

Patch 0.2.2h

Changes

  • Adjusted existing Alchemy recipes so they now no longer require enemy drops, less leaves, and instead more flowers.
  • Adjusted tiers of some Alchemy recipes.
  • Added additional Alchemy recipes.
  • Adjusted so some cooked food requires a lot of fish in order to give xp like the other trade skills.
  • The chest by Loch Bree is now unlocked.
  • Snarltooth, Spindel and Stenman should no longer flee at 5% health.

Changes

  • If you enable World PvP, you now drop all items and equipment outside of No Man's Land if dying (even without skull).
  • Can now lock action bar (settings, gameplay, lock action bar).
  • Wielding a shield does not count as dual wielding (no reduction in accuracy)
  • Arrows now give +1 crit bonus per tier.
  • Combat experience gained from gathering is now 15% instead of 25%.
  • Minimap info text is now updated when enabling World PvP.
  • Menu and Social Menu now sparkles when you have a new friend request.
  • Adjusted PvP level gaps in No Man's Land.
  • Adjusted base experience levels above level 25. We would really appreciate feedback (on Discord for example) on the base experience from players who are above level 25 in combat, crafting or trade skills. The feedback we received before was that it was way to fast to level up, which is why we adjusted the base experience downwards a bit.


Bug Fixes

  • Fixed trees in No Man's Land (can no longer walk into them or hide under them).
  • Walnut Arrow can now be used at level 8.
  • Fixed issue where you got more than +25% experience outside No Man's Land when enabling World PvP.
