The AOE feature has now reached Beta. Let’s talk about what this is and whether you will want to check it out now or wait for the full release.
The whats and the whys
The AOE (area-of-effect) feature allows you to turn rulers into permanent markers, which are saved with the board.
This Beta allows us all to test the basic functionality, which we will then build upon. Currently, the visuals are identical to rulers. This is far less than ideal and will be improved on over time.
As with the previous Beta, we want to allow people who don’t mind braving an unfinished feature to try it out without any risk to their existing creations.
We do this by making a separate branch of TaleSpire that you can opt into. This branch has its own servers, so none of your existing campaigns or boards are available, and nothing you do on the branch will break your boards outside the branch.
We aren’t setting a fixed date as it depends on what bugs we find and which we feel need fixing before release. It will be at least one week, though.
And that’s all!
Thanks for checking this out folks.

Shutting down old Beta branches
Shutting down old Beta branches
It's been over three weeks since the release of Cyberpunk, so we are deleting the old Beta branches and related servers effective immediately.
We are currently working on getting the AOE Beta ready for release. This is going well. We are hunting down some annoying little bugs and then will be writing "getting started" guides.
Peace.
Tile collider hotfix
Hey folks
This hotfix fixes a really nasty bug affecting building with the fantasy assets since the launch of the Cyberpunk/SciFi set.
If you have had issues with tiles clipping through tiles when you try to build, this should help.
I'm deeply sorry that I've been so slow to find and fix this bug. Thanks to all the community to tried so diligently to reach out to us about it.

Hotfix
This hotfix addresses some damage to atmosphere data in some boards that caused them not to load.
Polymorph is Live
Shape-shifters rejoice! Polymorph has now left Beta.
With this release, you can add up to 10 morphs per creature and switch between them on a whim.
To add a morph, simply right-click and drag the creature or prop from the library into the morph list of an existing creature.
You can also drag a library item over a creature, and the morph menu will open automatically.
Thanks once again go to the community members who tested this feature while it was in Beta. Your feedback was exceedingly helpful.
Until next time!
Cyberpunk & Sci-Fi Update is now Live!
Adjust your thrusters and recalibrate your cybernetic implants: Cyberpunk & Sci-Fi have touched down at TaleSpire.
(Thanks to Istallri[1][2] and Scarnor for providing slabs for the video)
With over 650 assets across tiles, props, and creatures, this is the first foray beyond the fantasy sets, and we are thrilled to finally be bringing it to you.
That said, we will continue to expand on all our asset packs as we progress towards our V1 release.
Snuck in with this release are a few other features:
You can now switch the region your campaigns are hosted in.
Boards deleted in the past week can be recovered
Unique-creatures can now be deleted
You can use the unique-creature panel to jump to the board and location of any unique-creature.
A huge thanks also goes to our community, who have been helping us get here through testing and feedback. You rock!
And now, it's over to you. Whether corporate megalith or back-alley bar, scrappy mining vessel or starcruiser, we can't wait to see what you create!

Server Maintenance 12:00 UTC 2022/08/04
Hi folks. We will have some quick server maintenance tomorrow (the 4th of August). We are pushing some server updates from beta to production and should only take a few seconds if all goes well. However, we are scheduling an hour for the work in case of any issues.
This is not the cyberpunk release itself, but these are the server-side changes we need for that release.
Have a good one!
Public Test of Cyberpunk / Sci-Fi
Hello everyone!
The Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi release is now only a stone's throw away, assuming it's a very heavy stone. Don't get me wrong, it's close—just a bit more than a pebble drop worth of effort. In fact, we're looking to do some public testing.
Sticking with the rocky analogy, getting to this point with Cyberpunk/SciFi has felt like Sisyphus rolling his boulder up the hill[1]. Reviewing Assets and re-working them sometimes felt like restarting at the bottom of said hill. Unlike Sisyphus, however, we've reached the summit with a set of Assets we feel pretty good about. Approximately 660 Assets across Tiles, Props, and Creatures. A sizable boulder indeed!
Now for some Public Testing!
We'd love for interested individuals to check out the Assets and changes. To poke and prod them before we push the update live.
Like the Polymorph Beta on steam, we've set up a new Beta Branch for Cyberpunk and Scifi. As with previous Beta's, this is running on a staging server which means you will not have access to any of your "Live Server" Campaigns or Boards while you're on the Beta Branch.
Is it for you?
Are you looking to get an early look at what will be available? Maybe start playing around with creating some early slabs? Or perhaps you want to check for changes that might affect your unofficial mods. Then this might be for you. Remember that Boards and Campaigns created in this Test will not carry back onto the live server.
We're close. We're looking at releasing it this coming week[2]. So what we're showing here is pretty close to final.
The art team has done such a fantastic job on this update. We hope everyone will enjoy and encourage more Cyberpunk / Sci-Fi related content updates.
Till next time
[1] The game "Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy" would also work in this context. Great game! [2] Unless this Live Test uncovers some bugs of Godzilla-like proportions.
