Early Access Patch 11

"And the coder said, let there be light, and there was light. But it was super buggy."

In this patch, we have a fix for cases where getting close to lights could cause them to temporarily turn off.

This one has been annoying us all for ages, so it's lovely to finally be shipping this fix.

This patch also contains a change that will hopefully improve performance for machines with high numbers of cores. If you are interested in this, please see Dev Log 281.

That's all for today. See you in the next patch!

Early Access Patch 10

With this release, TaleSpire gains a brand new feature, the ability to take any prop and turn it into a creature!

It is perfect for animate object spells, mimics, and all sorts of story shenanigans. We can't wait to see how you use it.

To get started simply:

  • Switch to the GM-overlay
  • Click the new 'convert to creature' button
  • Click on the props you wish to turn into creatures

Have fun!

p.s. Also included in this patch is a fix for an issue where small creatures behaved incorrectly with picking.

Early Access Patch 9

We are back with another bug-fix. This bug was a really sneaky one that could cause crashes in very large boards with lots of creatures.

Like with yesterday's patch, we are putting this out immediately in order to help those who have been struggling, as opposed to waiting to batch it up with other fixes.

Until next time!

Early Access Patch 8

We kick off this week off with a patch to fix a memory leak in the experimental fog-of-war feature.

We are pushing this out as its own patch to help with some support tickets we are currently working on with the community.

The new feature to allow you to turn props into creatures is coming along well, and we hope to have some news on that later this week.

Have a good one folks!

Early Access Patch 7

This update is primarily focused on smaller, low-level bugs in the internals.

It includes:

  • A fix for a memory leak in copy/paste
  • Stricter handling of potential errors during board changes
  • Improved loading code to handle invalid region data more gracefully
  • A fix for a regression in campaign upgrader
  • A fix for an issue with picking certain tiles
  • A fix that stops players from moving creatures using the keyboard when not their turn
  • A fix to make animation play correctly on remote clients

The one new addition in this patch is that you can now click client portraits to focus the player's selected creature.

Until next time!

This is the first of our "Help Design" tier packs, and we will be releasing more of our Backer-designed assets in the future. Collaborating with the backers has been a blast. These assets do tend to take a little bit longer as we want to give them the attention they deserve.

These are not the Kickstarter Exclusive Minis. This pack is available to everyone!

  • Kobold Adventurer
  • Van Arbor (Elven Swashbuckler)

  • Fix warning on light batching
  • Fix lighting glitches when placing more lights
  • Cut-volume works again
  • Fix issue where hide volumes could be made too small to select
  • Fix bug with copying slabs containing more than 13000 of the same kind of tile or prop

Asset Fixes:

  • Pine tree fixes. Reduced triangle count, darkening of the trunk, and some scale issue fixes.
  • Fixed some wall alignments on Tavern Set
