Tank Maniacs is now available on Steam
Dearest Fans!
We are very excited to share this precious historical moment with you all! For an entire year our team has been putting all of its energy, knowledge and enthusiasm into developing the world’s (probably) best couch party game. You are on the right page, cause TM is the one!
Fun fact: it all started in a garage. Ok, no. But really, the whole idea of The Game was born while having fun at one of our regular game jams at Gamelab, our indie game developer studio. The first playable version of Tank Maniacs was put together in not more than 3 awesome days, by a bunch of awesome guys, and we enjoyed the game so much that kinda thought: hey, why not put all 20 of us on the project and spend an entire year eating only pizza out of boxes, getting fat, working on weekends and sleeping in the office just to add some extra good stuff for other geeks like us... Ok ok. We’re actually not fat, have regular workouts in the gym, respect weekends, but we’re sure so much in love with our work and our game, that any of the above would almost worth it.
So, releasing Tank Maniacs is the first real significant milestone in Gamelab’s history. And you’re here to see The Day. Enjoy! And be one of the firsts to buy the game. Thank you for becoming an obsessed TMaddict. We promise to commit everything to slowly overdose you with the most irresistible updates.

New York update v0.9.3.
We just can’t stop spoiling you… It’s not even Xmas and we already added 4 absolutely new game modes: the Gameshow and the Symmetric Showdown and both their team versions, not to mention a completely new map, called New York, we guess even just reading the name you already envision something completely different from the earlier maps, and so it is, and oh, wait… you know what has changed to be even more user friendly and awesome? The Menu! What else do you want? Now you name it! Actually now you can, because guess what, you can set your own nickname after you pick your pilot. And lots of other new stuff so just run through and read it anyways. Get on with it, get spoiled. Santa’s almost here, soooo... wishlist now!
Game modes
We have 4 new game modes!
Gameshow
In the Gameshow mode players will have to pay attention to another threat! From time to time, the “UH-1 Good Looking” appears and chooses a random tank. In case it’s you, you better run because a Holy Hand Grenade (among many other things) could be the one that ends your career.
Team Gameshow
This is the same as the Gameshow mode, but you can team up with your friend and fight against another team.
Symmetric Showdown
We have always wondered what happens when everybody drives the same tank. In the Symmetric Showdown all players get the same tank and once in a while it’ll change randomly. Beware! Your health remains on the same level!
Team Symmetric Showdown
This is the same as the Symmetric Showdown mode, but you can team up with your friend and fight against another team.
Maps
A new map, called New York is now available
Added features:
Now you can set your own nickname after you choose your character
If you’ve run out of lives during a match now you can still influence the gameplay
Changed:
We have a new menu design
The airplane is now following a random path every time it appears
Now we fill up the empty spaces with bots automatically (you can still change the quantity)
We have reworked the following maps:
Bridge Ruins
Rolling Stones
Swamp
We’ve changed a lot of other things under the hood
Currently not available:
The Chicken Tank
The Catapult Tank
Tutorial
Maps: Down Hill, Trampoline 2, Volcano holo maps
Bot matches are temporarily turned off
Free Demo for Tank Maniacs is live now
What’s the only thing that could beat the good news that Tank Maniacs is almost ready to be published? Of course the even better news: we made a demo for our fans! Certainly we can still beat the good and even better news: our demo is FREE and available from 05/11 till 17/11! Too bad we can’t see your faces now. But maybe not too bad after all.
So if you’re up to the game all you have to do now is to gather 3 of your best friends or any available family members, or just let’s say less obnoxious classmates, but maybe simply random people in your dorm who are still willing to talk to you will do, so the 4 of you can now occupy the couch and start the battle! But of course if humans in your reach are scarce or you prefer your own company over all other creatures’, we have charming AI bots to beat you. You’re welcome.
You can find the "Download Demo" button on the store page:

Sassy Catapult update, v0.2
Now you can feel like in seventh heaven, or even more, since we added 6 new maps to the game! The new scenes widened our horizon and brought brand new songs and sound effects, and also we couldn’t resist to expand our arsenal of tanks even further, so added something awesome and powerful: the Catapult Tank! The AI behind our tanks has gone through significant improvement, meaning that by now they all developed their own battle tactics, so you better keep up! If you’re ready for the new stuff just check our fresh INTRO animation, get you buddies on the couch and test the game. Or just keep playin’ with the bots!

The controller app now features haptic feedback on supported devices.
To reduce input lag we use UDP for movement. We have received error reports so we have implemented an automatic fallback option to switch it to more reliable TCP/IP.
Based on the feedback received we have swapped the jump and fire button’s placement. Please let us know which layout do you prefer.
Added pause menu button
Swapped jump and fire button placement
Increased jump button size

PlayIT report
This year we doubled the size of the GAMELAB living room at PlayIT, the largest gaming event in Hungary. It was awesome to meet some of our commited test pilots in person and lure in new fans with the game's soundtrack performed live by our band. Next to the couches players could download the free Controller App and play the game running on an iPad.

Kudos to the organisers for providing me with the opportunity to represent our fantastic team on the main stage, talking about the development's history and future. I also had the chance to showcase the current version playing with household names. I am happy to report that the build was rock solid and the game has improved a lot both visually and in usability. It was a lovely sight when the streamer Paplovag Gaming threw in a limited Tank Maniacs boxed copy into the crowd like a shuriken.
