Monday Update #015 / Patch v04.1



We're closer and closer to the end. There's a bunch of stuff I concluded were out of scope that won't make it to the v1.0 of the game (maybe for a 2.0?). But I'm happy the game will end up rounded up and with greater overall quality because of it.
We're working hard on the final art pass. On the next several patches you'll see how the game becomes increasingly prettier and more cool looking.
I specially can't wait to replace all the Alpha UI elements!
There still so much work to be done!

Anyway, this is mostly a balance and polish patch.

New Stuff



  • Can Pick Random Map
  • Start Menu background image.
  • Wayne's and Edward's wheels will spin backwards when reversing.
  • Tank placed stuff will now stick to the ship's landing platforms if placed on top of them.


Changes



  • Katrina: basic Attack now re-casts itself 2 more times with a forward offset. dmg starts at 100 and increases by 25 with each re-cast. Radius set to 125, from 150.
  • Bonnie: Punch radius is 125, from 100. Cooldown is 0.5 from 7.5. Damage is 75 from 80.
  • Bonnie: Shields no longer collide whit the level while spinning. When thrown hit radius is 75, from 50. Damage is 150, from 100.
  • New batch of steam images.


Bugs fixed



  • Wayne's Barrel will no longer trigger when colliding with tank's invisible sensors.
  • Gregory Basic Attack will now be visible again (sorry about that)
  • Random Character will no longer get stuck at Dorian (0)

Monday Update #014 / Patch Alpha v04



From now on Tankrovia is officially in Beta! We'll still add more content with each patch, but the main focus will be to improve the overall quality of every aspect of the game!
As a special "out of Alpha" promotion, the game will be 20% off for a week!



PATCH ALPHA v04.



New stuff




  • New character: Alexandra! Fast tank, Basic attack is an AoE long range bomb, Special Ability is a Beam Forge that goes through everything and only damages Tanks.
  • New character: Edward! Heavy tank, Basic attack are homing torpedos! Special Ability is a huge growing zone that pushes out and deals damage. He's immune to it though.
  • New Environment Outpost maps x3, the new mechanic are ships that land on the level and serve as cover during battles. (don't stand under a landing ship!)
  • New Challenges x3 (they've also been rearranged)


Changes




  • Game Logo v2.
  • Selection Menu: Tanks show stats now.
  • Default graphics have been set to High.
  • Gregory walls have 400 hp instead of 200.
  • Player ID on selection menu has been made smaller.
  • Wayne has been set to auto-reload his revolver when empty, but the time it takes has been increased from 3.5 to 5.
  • Laser Beam weapon power has been decreased. Dmg goes from 5 to 20 over time, from 10 to 20. Cooldown is now 1:1 with hold-time, used to be half.
  • Dorian's turret is way stronger to compensate for everyone having boost now. (faster bullet speed, faster turn rate, dmg to 15 from 10, but less hp)
  • New Drop-pod system. Decal and Explosion radius will always match. Frequency has been increased, specially during DeathMode, where several can be landing simultaneously (used to be just 1)
  • Pollos now have a 15% chance of spawning from drop pod, Cannon (green) and LaserBeam have 5% chance, while all other weapons have 10% chance.
  • Pollo's Hp regen will start after 1 second of not receiving any damage. Any hit resets the delay.


Bugs fixed




  • Boost can be released during pause.
  • Train and TrainCarts "push out" at the end of the line has been improved, should no longer be able to move through them.
  • Many other smaller bugs.

Monday Update #013



Tankrovia Alpha v04 is upon us! All 8 characters will finally be playable!

With this, we will conclude Alpha, and will move into Beta, when we'll mostly focus on improving graphics, effects, sound, UI, etc.

We'll keep balancing and adding content to the game, but the core mechanics will hardly change from now on.

It won't be long for Tankrovia 1.0 on Aug 3rd!



On a side note, we're doing a local tournament here in Santiago, Chile. It's going to be a big deal! The final match will take place on big venue in front of hundreds of people!

Also! Alpha v04 won't only add one new character; I've decided to bump up Edward's release, which means next patch will add 2 new characters! With this patch we'll be officially out of Alpha and into Beta =)

Once the beta is complete, the game will launch with 8 Characters, 12 Battle Arena maps, and 20 Challenge maps.

But it won't end there! While you kids enjoy this awesome couch-game, we're going to be working on the Coop Campaign and Online Play!

Monday Update #012



New Map: Outpost



We've decided to try something different with the new maps for this patch: It'll try to kill you!
During the match, dropships will come carrying deadly pollo-troops. They will not discriminate and will attack whoever is in range. It's fun stuff!
Also, their ships will stay in place until destroyed, serving as cover during the battle, while they last.



New Character: Alexandra



And about the new character; Alex is, at the same time, a very conventional character, and very unique one. All her damage has AoE, but she's very forward oriented. Unlike the others, she defenseless when flanked. But shes fast!
Also, her special ability brings a new element to the game's meta. As her Energy Beam completely skips obstacles. If she places it right, there's nowhere to run!



Alpha v04 will be out in a couple of weeks! I have so much fun playing Tankrovia as it is now! Since the boost was added, the gamed matured a whole lot.

Also, we're making the game "better looking" regarding menus and such.

Patch v03.2




  • Wayne black hole now has 25% stronger inward force. (to compensate for boost mechanic), and it's DPS increased from 80 to 100.
  • AoEs are now more precise and consistent across the game.
  • You can now boost with Left Bumper (A too).
  • Fixed a bunch of typos here and there.
  • Tanks can no longer placer their special abilities inside destructibles.
  • On train challenge, it no longer explodes all at once (rip ears)
  • On Battle Arena, when picking a Random Character, now you won't see the outcome until the match starts!
  • When Controlling a rocket, the Tank's turret will "look at it", instead of snapping back forward.
  • Natalia mines no longer get carried by the train carts if they where originally placed on them but ended up off of it.
  • A "How to Play" section has been added to the start menu, in there you can what does what on both Gamepad and Keyboard+Mouse
  • You can now see an image preview of the selected map on BattleArena mode.

Monday Update #011



As usual, we've kept balancing and improving the game bit by bit!

On v04 the first 10 challenges will have a few relevante changes. Some for balance, some for clarity. Most for polish and beauty. A few for freedom and love.

Also, we've decided to move the boost button from A to LB on gamepad, and from SpaceBar to LeftShift on keyboard.
Originally we though boost on A would be an interest mechanic since it would keep your thumb busy and not let you aim while you boost. It was by design. But as we saw people bend over backwards to handle all the buttons at once, we realized it wasn't being understood as intended. So why fight it.

Finally, this week I'll be reaching out to curators and press in order to increase our visibility a bit =)

NEW STUFF:



  • Challenges 8, 9, and 10 are now available!


BALANCE



  • Bonnie hp changed from 1200 to 1400
  • Bonnie shield damage while spinning changed from 50 to 75
  • Bonnie shields damage after firing them changed from 80 to 100
  • Gregory HP changed from 2000 to 1800
  • Gregory walls lifetime changed to 8 seconds, from 5 seconds.
  • Katrina basic attack damage changed to 150 from 100.
  • Katrina basic attack cooldown changed to 2 seconds, from 1.25 seconds.


CHANGES AND FIXES



  • Gregory basic attack outer decal now spins really fast.
  • On challenges, the tank won't be stuck in reverse if you where reversing when it ended.
  • The 6 pollos challenge has been CPU optimized.
  • The challenge with the river and the forests has CPU been optimized..
  • In battle arena, the pollo hp regen has been halved. (it was pretty aggressive regeneration)
  • The hallways in the rocket challenge have been widened a bit.
  • Added missing Bonnie sound on battle arena selection menu.
  • Reframed the character image on the selection menu. (Keep in mind the final art will be 3D)
  • Swapped challenge 2 and 3 in the selection menu to smooth difficulty progression.
  • Reimported some deprecated assets.

Update Monday #010



Hey there!

We're diving into the next content patch for Tankrovia, Update 04 is coming!

The new character is called Alexandra, she's a young Monk-Guard on the great Science Vault of NewHellena. (Yes, the game has a bit of lore)
Her tank makes heavy use of energy weaponry, bringing forth awesome devastation!

I'll show you the tank in a coupe of weeks when it's ready for field testing!

The new patch will also add 3 new maps, 5 new challenges, and will improve the look and feel of all game menu overlays!

Hey! Tankrovia v03 is finally out! Here's the full patch notes.

New Stuff




  • New Game Mode: Challenges! 7 short solo missions. 13 more coming!
  • A new character: Bonnie! Strong Melee brute. Basic attack is a powerful knockback punch. Special ability is a set of 3 spinning shields that can be reactivated to turn into projectiles. The shields have 500 hp each. But can't be destroyed once fired.
  • New mechanic: Boosting! Hold A to accelerate faster. Uses fuel. Tanks turn dmg into fuel. Fuel pack sometimes drop from pollos.
  • 2 new Battle Arena Maps
  • There are 3 repair packs types now: HP, Fuel, and Cooldown. Hp stays for 20 seconds and repairs 250 hp. Fuel stays for 15 seconds and restores 25% of the fuel tank, Cooldown stays for 10 seconds and resets the special ability cooldown!
  • Mouse and Keyboard has been implemented.
  • Audio and Graphics Settings will now be stored.
  • When the tank respawn a team-colored circle will appear around the spawning zone.


Changes




  • Battle Arena Selection Menu sorts players as they enter the game.
  • Removed like 50mb of unused assets...
  • Tanks and their drops have been re-textured for fidelity and memory use.
  • improved performance and stability
  • Dorian's turret will aim better when on different heights.
  • Roads no longer affect tank speed.
  • Dorian's turret can now see through special ability actors, like Gregory's Walls and Bonnie's Shields.
  • Players can no longer pause the match after it is set to end.
  • The flamethrower has been visually tweaked to better reflect the AoE.
  • Items now drop more often.
  • How long a weapon pack has changed to per weapon type: Cannon, Spread, and Flamethrower now stay for 30 seconds, while Blaster, Rocket, and Laser stay for 15 seconds.


Bug Fixes



  • On Battle Arena selection menu, when playing with a 4th gamepad; that player will update it's assigned in-game display properly.
  • Victory sequence at the end of battle arena match will correctly place tanks again.
  • Laser beam weapon will no longer get stuck if you press it short enough.
