Fix user-input can remain disabled with no way to re-enable it under some storyline specific conditions.
At various "hairy" points in the Birdie storyline a quick-save is now automatically made.
Fix problem with Birdie storyline: If you only ask Lala Blue about PEOPLE FROM HAION when you drop them off at their initial destination they agree to fly on to the Host Master but you actually lose the fare (Lala) and thus when arriving at the Host Master nothing happens.
Fix INFO button on GalaxyMap sometimes moves when flying on transport or galactic-liner.
Fix Security sometimes say they'll escort the player from the system if they don't buy the permit but simply let the player go (without even a ticket) if the player refuses to buy the permit.
When landed the site's icon is now shown on the top-left corner of the scenery.
Zone-details now shows an example scenery image of planets/stations of that type.
Discoveries (galaxy-map search) now has a planets tab where all the planets you have discovered are listed.
Fix: discoveries, zone-details and system-details panels now pop when they get focus.
When landed you can click on the scenery to make that the scenery shown for that planet in the discoveries planet's list or zone-details.
Settings Tools section now has 'open scenery directory' and 'clean user-directory' buttons ('clean user-directory') will remove all unused logs, crash-files, screenshots and custom scenery from the user-directory.
New Omnitrex planets, mobs, npcs, new playable ships, etc.
Fix AchievementDetails panel doesn't cover full screen when in a widescreen mode.
Star ratings for planets are back and can be seen on system-details and discoveries (planet list) and can be changed on the zone-details.
Day 10 and Day 100 achievements.
Update TAXINAUT version 0.9.33 WIN_EARLY
Ok, here is the first pure content update (well sort of). It has a new planet...
Fix 2 pixel empty space at the bottom of the generated scenery shown above the dialog when landed that looks odd.
Main menu clean up; the orange "in development" etc. is now gone but it's still "in development" (I'm just preparing to make things as they should be for V1.0).
Fix mob-trains aren't correctly counted causing mob distributions on planets not to be quite correct.
Fix mob-trains break apart when time is slowed down to less than x0.5.
Fix 'pause when time slowdown ends' pauses the game when the Player is for example buzzed and departs from a planet but there's no way to resume the game because all user-input is disabled during departure. (Thanks DStar7!)
AA-1 and AX-S Mines.
New planet in Boro regions.
New space backgrounds.
Reduce glitch where tiles like road tiles (not lane tiles) protrude slightly over water where such tiles are next to water.
Fix small variations in the line-height of multi-line text.
Next: more planets!
Update TAXINAUT version 0.9.31 WIN_EARLY
Sorry, a quick update that fixes some bugs that have been really annoying me for a long time:
Fix landing scenery on planets with traffic-lanes doesn't show lane tiles.
Fix sometimes visible slight gaps between tiles (e.g. on traffic-lanes) especially in normal (not widescreen) view.
Fix UI flickering when TAXINAUT is run in full screen exclusive mode under Windows and DirectX. This now is properly fixed and doesn't require the "full screen anti-flicker hack" anymore (which has been removed).
This update adds new commercial hubs but this time to the Dronx region. They're a little bit more dangerous than regular other planets (only a little, I'm starting light).
Note that there's been a change to the default display settings (full screen exclusive should now be viable again and it won't force a display resolution change). Your display configuration might have changed (especially when playing on Linux/Mac where it used to use full screen by default but now doesn't). See also http://www.mosgrom.net/taxinaut/manual.html#windowmodefullscreen.
Fixed loot in dangerous system-regions now has slightly more good stuff.
Some new traders, NPCs and mobs.
Fix dungeons/caves show mantra in the map-information panel etc. even though they're unusable.
FULL SCREEN ANTI-FLICKER HACK setting attempts to stop TAXINAUT from flickering when started in FULL SCREEN with OPENGL=FALSE on Windows. (The flickering can be stopped by tabbing out and back into TAXNAUT regardless of this setting: this setting attempts to do that automatically but it might not work or cause mouse-events to not register (see http://www.mosgrom.net/taxinaut/manual.html#fullscreenantiflickerhack).
Fix MX I missile cannot be killed with one LASER BEAM shot.
Fix Syod shopping planets never triggering security-checks at their spaceports.
Fix some planets/stations report their Mantra as 'UNAVAILABLE'.
Slight SPOILER: TARGET TRACKER item that automatically pauses the game when a chosen target comes into the arc of a chosen weapon. I made a little SPOILERY video about it you can see here: https://youtu.be/qzRm2n3wmGw.
Some hostile mobs can now become demoralized and stop chasing when damaged.
VUDU bleeding effects are now generally a lot slower and more inline with the rate at which VUDU is gained on the meter.
MEDICAL KIT now only takes 1 minute (instead of 15).
ATTENTION filter item now blinks red if there are any items that need attention (e.g. injuries). There's also a setting to turn off the blinking (it will still show red).
When in widescreen the ATTENTION filter item will now constantly show to its left if there is an Item that requires attention.
TRAFFIC CONTROL while giving instructions (e.g. "state destination" or "proceed to customs") now shows under the ATTENTION filter.
Player VUDU color now pulses from dark-red to full-red when bleeding VUDU.
Up next: more planets (some hostile).
Update TAXINAUT version 0.9.28 WIN_EARLY
Again no new planets (I know) but more preparation for when more nasty planets will be added (next update?). nevertheless I think you might like this update.
Attack certain mobs (e.g. thugs) will now not trigger security (depending on local law).
Secret compartment item that gives a high chance of security checks not finding any illegal items you carry.
"smuggling" gong that decreases the chance of being checked by security and increases the chance of a secret compartment successfully hiding illegal items.
When stopped by security (random or at spaceport (not at customs)) and illegal items are found you can now bribe them.
Some new food items.
"girly blouse" drink that gives a buff to smuggling and personal melee weapon gongs and slows down time by 0.5.
Fixed can't store drugs in container. (Thanks to Brian).
Ignoring traffic control now only gives you a ticket instead of a fine unless you already have a ticket then it's replaced with a fine. (Security still always scrambles).
Zones can now have an "apathetic security" indicator which makes security not activate when you attack other mobs (unless that mob is security), security-checks are also a lot less likely to occur (at spaceport or random (not customs)) and security will normally not activate for minor things (e.g. when you're drunk or don't have a permit).
Rarer items are now less rare (they're more commonly found at traders).
"phase-shift" and "repulsor" can now break you out of a stun and when phase shift is active you can't be stunned at all.
Fix Yamo rocks and mountains are too bright at night.
Fix all kinds of issues with the "beggar rings" storyline. (Thanks to RockinRowl).
Fix eating food and then using a gong and getting gong sickness and thus hungry doesn't remove digesting food. (Thanks to Brian).
Mantra, a 5 letter grey code seen underneath or next-to the names of most sites and planets that can be redeemed at a Catalog using the QUERY MANTRA topic for a bookmark to the nearest site or planet of that type. This can be used by players to share found locations with each other (the mantras are the same across all games). Often the shared locations won't be exactly the same from one game/player to the next but they will be of same type (similar). See manual: http://www.mosgrom.net/taxinaut/manual.html#mantras. Note that this is sort of a "meta" feature and can spoil the game and certain storylines (the point of the game normally is to discover things yourself).
"expense compensation" surcharge that makes it so passengers pay for certain item expenditures (e.g. weapons) during the fare.
"expense compensation" gong that increases the amount a passenger compensates for certain item expenditures during their fare.
Warp beacon list is now ordered alphabetically. (Thanks Brian).
Next up: more planets???
Update TAXINAUT version 0.9.25 WIN_EARLY
This doesn't add anything new to the game but there are now startup scripts in the installation-directory that should make it possible to run TAXINAUT on any platform (e.g. Linux or Mac) with Java >= 17 installed. See for more information:
Running TAXINAUT like this on Linux (instead of using Proton) should give better performance (it does on my Linux laptop). I don't have a Steam Deck so I don't know if it's possible to install Java on there and start TAXINAUT that way; but if that's possible it might also improve performance on the Steam Deck.
Note that this doesn't make Linux or Mac officially supported (but it should run fine).
Update TAXINAUT version 0.9.22 WIN_EARLY
You might like this one. I prepares for some more "nasty" planets that are going to be added soon by giving you more ways to "improve" yourself:
There are now drinks and drugs that slow-down time (a lot of drinks still speed-up time like they used to).
Drink and drugs can now give temporary gong (skill) buffs (e.g. your ship weapon range improves).
A lot of food, while digesting now slowly progresses a particular gong (skill) to its next level.
You can click on your portrait to see the gongs on your clone and the mods on your ship.
Fixed that addiction doesn't get a reprieve when you take more drugs that cause the addiction.
You can stack multiple drinks & drugs up to your "intoxication limit" which has an associated gong (skill) to improve it.
Some taxi-companies (e.g. Tranza) are transport companies and also give free transport trips to some destinations.
I'm still working on commercial hubs for regions like Dronx they're looking good just need to add some more trouble to them. I thought I'de give you the above things to play with as soon as they were ready.
Update TAXINAUT version 0.9.18 WIN_EARLY
First of the content updates. It's not very big but I'm just going to push them out as I make them.
This one adds a certain type of "commercial-hub" planets. You'll find them in the New Temple, Lordano, Lelande and Dexxon Sector galactic regions. Some people will have a "commercial-hub" topic when you're near one of these planets.
These planets also add a new taxi-company called "Tranza" (not widespread yet) and 3 new flyable ships.
Also a lot of work has been done to start making fares more in context to where you are, together with some other "technical" stuff that will make it easier for me to add content.
Update TAXINAUT version 0.9.17 WIN_EARLY
I said no more but here's another quick update with some bug-fixes and some feature requests.
Fix Settings don't fully save when going straight into NEW GAME after changing Settings.
Fix some gnarlyness with the 'controller and keyboard' setting UI.
Fix 6 Starpunk given by Birdie don't appear at home store when you open your army locker after taking a Starpunk from the stranded cabbie.
Fix crash during or right after recovery at home.
Pickup UI now should more consistently immediately give focus to the TAKE button when using the focus-system.
Possible crash when pressing the action button when nothing has focus while using the focus-system.
NPC dialogs after showing a pickup UI should more consistently return focus to the dialog if that continues after showing the pickup UI.
Fix game hangs after picking up stranded cabbie (second tutorial fare) when using focus-system.
NPC dialog in fare UI in context-pane should more consistently pick the first option for focus when a passenger suddenly says something (when using the focus-system).
Disable mouse-steering setting that can be used to turn off controlling the cab with the mouse even when not using the controller system.
Select and then delete multiple SaveFiles at once.
Delete whole characters (all the SaveFiles of a character) when Allow manual save is set to NEVER.
A setting to show all the save-files in the load screen even when Allow manual save is set to NEVER.
Fix stranded cabbie doesn't show drunk NPCAttribute after offering Player a drink.
Dialog text animation (character by character unfolding of dialog text) can now be skipped to immediately show full text and response options by clicking on it (or the surrounding dialog area).
Hopefully I can now move on to creating some more content.
