Tennis Elbow Manager 2

SubBuild 2024.7.9

Bug Fixes :

- New Game : clicking "Back" when selecting a player from the base was corrupting the Tour creation process and was leading to a crash

SubBuild 2024.7.8

Bug Fixes :

- New Game : our player had 0% in all his skills

SubBuild 2024.7.7

Bug Fixes :

- Saved game : loading a career saved during the 1st year could lead to a crash (maybe it could only happen with a Mod)

Version 1.0j - Build 132 - SubBuild 2024.7.5

Here is version 1.0j of TEM2, with improvements & new features from TE4, as usual, and this time again there's a ton of it coz the game hasn't been updated in a while ! 😛

New Features :

- Controls : the correct controller is automatically selected when assigning a button or combination in Settings -> Controls (so you don't have to worry about selecting your controller if you have more than 1 connected)
- Controls : option to invert up/down for the strike combinations when your player is on the far side of the court (like in TE2013 ! 🙃 )
- Animation : smoothing of the reach for the Dynamic Animation system, which should prevent jerkiness when swapping between the regular & slice animations or when doing left/right movements to position your player
- Rendering : ball outline (you can turn it on in Settings -> 3D Match) ; it's especially useful if you play with a low display resolution and/or with the 1st or 3rd person camera
- Localization : Italian translation updated, thanks to pupattolino75 !
- Play Style : the new description of the All-Court Attacker is (ie: he got a speed bonus for his normal & topspin strikes) =>

  • 1 extra acceleration
  • bigger jumps at the net
  • big speed bonus for shoulder height acceleration
  • up to +3km/h on normal & topspin strikes, whatever the power is

- Play Style : the new description of the All-Rounder is (ie: he got a speed bonus for his normal & topspin strikes, as well a topspin bonus for his topspin strike) =>

  • 1 extra acceleration
  • bigger jumps at the net
  • big speed bonus for shoulder height acceleration
  • up to +2km/h on normal & topspin strikes, whatever the power is
  • little topspin bonus on the topspin strike

- Play Style : slightly raise the jump bonus of the All-Rounder
- Animation : you can now disable the Crowd animation in Settings -> Video -> Advanced ; on less powerful PCs, it makes the game stutters a bit each time the crowd starts to applause
- Animation : you can now damper or turn off the Dynamic Animation system, which alters the strike animations (more info => topic15-35348.php )
- World Tour : rankings updated to the end of 2023 (but the 1st playable year is still 2023)
- Controls : added Tab Previous & Next, and Scroll Previous & Next as configurable buttons, and added shortcuts for them in different menus
- Localization : Spanish translation (proofread by Fed1) and German translation (proofread by starfighter006) are finally updated after several years !
- Camera : added a slider to make the camera movements slower in 3rd person mode when the ball passes your player (ie: it's mostly for the doubles)
- Controls : now the Configuration selection is separated from the Controller selection ; this allows you to easily share the same configuration between several controllers, or reassign the Controller without changing the Configuration in case the Controller index has changed (in case you have more than 1 controller)
- Controls : on PC, when possible, the game automatically reassigns on launch your last selected controller if its index changed (because you have plugged in or out another controller)
- Localization : Chinese translation updated, thanks to XK !

Changes :

- AI : better net rush on serve & volley for the CPU when the player is slow, and in doubles
- Menu : improved the selection with a controller and the arrow keys in the Settings menus, as well as in a few other menus
- AI : the CPU will now almost never rush the net after a very crossed strike (as it's too open to a down-the-line passing)
- Menu : when entering a new menu using the keyboard or the controller, the cursor is moved to the currently selected item
- AI : now the CPU will volley much less frequently in the direction of his opponent standing near a lane line, except on difficult volleys
- AI : your player & the CPU, when standing near or after the baseline, know much better when the ball will end long, and thus won't play it, except when it's very close to being in
- Strikes : the slice was too fast when having low consistency
- Strikes : slightly increased the loss of precision when returning a slice
- Strikes : lowered the maximum possible topspin when having a very low power (to avoid weird moonballs for Junior players)
- Strikes : slightly raised the racket sweet spot size while moving, so it's now a bit easier to strike the ball on the run
- AI : the Incredible CPU now aims a bit less to the center
- Controls : the default control scheme for the controllers was not really not optimal ; it is now changed to the 1 button-per-strike template that fits better the Xbox & Playstation controllers
- Strike : slightly lowered the loss of precision when returning a slice with a 2H-BH or 1H-BH
- Strike : strongly lowered the tiring handicap on heavy topspin strikes, and even more for the Defender style
- Physics : slightly changed the ball size so it gets a tiny bit more air drag, more on par with current balls on the real World Tour (but it's only like 1/60th of a second longer for the ball to travel from one player to his opponent 😅 )
- Physics : the players with high running speed need now a bit more time to stop their run
- Gameplay : the Bulldog has now a little bonus to more easily hit the ball on the run
- Gameplay : raised the Short Acceleration speed a bit, especially when it's done at shoulder height
- Gameplay : hitting an acceleration against a raising/falling ball now lowers the precision in extreme cases and a bit less the accel speed (and still reduces the speed as before in normal cases)
- Gameplay : accelerations are a tiny bit longer
- Gameplay : All Rounder & All-court Attacker's normal strike speed bonus now applies only to the forehand and not to the backhand anymore

Bug Fixes :

- Acceleration Trait : the Rapid Fire was getting a 5km/h speed bonus instead of handicap !
- AI : fixed a bunch of glitches for the CPU players in doubles
- Controls : the Open Menu button wasn't working during the game
- Menus : the tooltips could be incorrect when using the controller or keyboard
- World Tour : some saved games could be marked as Invalid if you had some saved games using different tour bases
- World Tour : playing with women was deleting the current saved game for the men
- Strikes : the safe strike done after charging the topspin could get way too much topspin, or even a weird banana lob effect if additionally charged with the slice
- Replay : a crash could occur when exiting the replay
- Controls : the game was crashing when mismatching button/axis for up/down in Settings -> Controls
- Modding : in Tour.ini, only the 1st period of YearPeriod was used
- Tutorial : after finishing a Tutorial lesson, it was not possible to continue a saved match, plus it created a couple of little glitches in the menus
- Modding : having different Grand Slams and/or different Country Cup rounds for different years could lead to some issues
- Menu : if no default font was defined, then the font padding for custom fonts was the one from the previous menu's default font (this was an issue for some Mods, not the base game as the default font was always defined for the base menus)
- Ini : WT_NewGame & WT_NewGameTEM usages from Tennis.ini were inverted, preventing to easily edit the starting skill points in the World Tour
- World Tour : loading a saved game where you had reached the end of your career was crashing
- World Tour : when playing with women, the current match couldn't be reloaded and the difficulty setting was always reset on game launch
- Menu : fixed the bug making all the Match Stats 0, which should also fix a couple of rare glitches in other menus
- Animation : when being lobbed, the player animation could constantly switch between the smash and another strike
- Modding : Modded sounds were not playing more or less randomly
- World Tour : in fictional years, the ranks were getting all messed up when some real players had manual rankings, leading to unknown players being way too strong
- AI : when doing a safe strike, the CPU could advance too much into the court
- Strikes : the drop shot speed could be too slow when done very crossed, leading to a too-high trajectory
- Animation : the players could do weird movements to try to look for the ball behind them if they had just missed it
- Controls : having a strike activated by a controller axis and another strike activated by the same axis plus a button could lead to the latter strike never getting registered
- World Tour : the Career Titles screen was crashing
- World Tour : looking at the match presentation screen for a final and then closing the game was making the game hang after have played the next match on the next game launch
- Menus : fixed a couple of tooltip issues when using the controller
- Strike : preparing a strike for a long time was canceling the handicap to do an acceleration on a raising/falling ball, making the topspin balls less effective than wanted
- AI : the CPU could walk a bit away from the ball and miss it when rushing the net
- Tutorial : doing a net on the 1st serve was crashing the game
- Controller : controller auto-selection didn't work when having more than 1 player in the World Tour
- Gameplay : the service line was seen as 0cm wide for the fault calls, making some balls fault when they should have been in

Build 119 - SubBuild 2023.10.9

New Features :

- Controls : the correct controller is automatically selected when assigning a button or combination in Settings -> Controls (so you don't have to worry about selecting your controller if you have more than 1 connected)
- Controls : option to invert up/down for the strike combinations when your player is on the far side of the court (like in TE2013 ! ːsteammockingː )
- Animation : smoothing of the reach for the Dynamic Animation system, which should prevent jerkiness when swapping between the regular & slice animations or when doing left/right movements to position your player

Changes :

- Acceleration Trait : slightly raised the threshold speed for the Slow Ball Big Speed trait with men, so the bonus speed will trigger more often

Bug Fixes :

- Acceleration Trait : the Rapid Fire was getting a 5km/h speed bonus instead of handicap !
- AI : fixed a couple more glitches for the CPU players in doubles
- Controls : the Open Menu button wasn't working during the game
- Menus : the tooltips could be incorrect when using the controller or keyboard
- World Tour : some saved games could be marked as Invalid if you had some saved games using different tour bases
- World Tour : playing with women was deleting the current saved game for the men
- World Tour : when watching a CPU vs CPU match in 3D, if a player was injured, the match was re-simulated on exit

Version 1.0i - Build 118 - SubBuild 2023.10.2

Here the version 1.0i of TEM2, with improvements & new features from TE4 (so most of them are for the 3D Match engine), as usual, except this time there's a ton of it ! ːsteammockingː

New Features :

- Player Style : now the Counter Puncher gets a lowered speed handicap when doing an acceleration on a raising ball (and in a smaller way on a falling ball), as well as with the normal strike against a raising ball
- World Tour : now more than half of the players have one or several talents (if you want to force a player to have no talent, add "Talent = " to his section in the player base)
- World Tour : if you have bought TE4, you can now play TEM2 inside it and enjoy all the TE4 novelties while coaching & managing everything like in TEM2 !
- Talents : new Slider talent, which allows starting to slide when running more slowly
- Talents : new Clay Mover talent, which allows to slow down & change direction a bit faster on clay.
- Talents : new Boom Boom Server talent ; the 1st star allows you to do a 1st serve up to 10% faster from time to time ; the 2nd star allows it to also happen when facing a breakpoint
- Talents : new On-time Server talent ; the 1st star lowers by 25% the chance to miss your 1st serve when facing a break point, and the 2nd star by 50%
- Controls : now, your controller can vibrate when striking the ball ; activate this with Settings -> Controls -> Player 1 -> Vibration ; the deep vibrations indicate a difficult ball ; the light vibrations indicate a fast strike as well as an off-center ball ; and the light vibration duration indicates an off-center ball
- Controls : new screen right before playing to easily select the controller for each player (you can activate it from Settings -> Controls)
- Gameplay : added the "Acceleration Traits" ; each player can choose between 7 traits, giving speed bonuses & handicaps depending on different situations
- AI : the Incredible CPU was almost totally paralyzed by the risk to put the ball into the net, making play way too many slices & safe strikes, and even more with the Elite controls ; now, the Incredible should be back and much more valiant ːsteammockingː
- Strikes : lowered by 3 km/h the maximum speed of the acceleration and 2 km/h the Shoulder Height bonus, so the maximum strike speed will be about the same when you get a bonus from an acceleration trait
- Match Recordings : now the game will automatically delete all recording older than 2 Builds (if you don't want to delete anything, read the notes below) ; you can also manually delete any recording
- Menus : in case of a crash during the World Tour process, a menu is shown to tell you to load your previously saved game (instead of being stuck on the waiting screen)
- Menus : in case of a non-stop crash of the menu system, a menu is shown to let you exit the game and possibly restart without Mod or with resetting all your settings
- Menus : added a tip next to the Back button to show what controller button is linked to it
- Settings :can reset all the settings on game launch with the command line "-resetsettings" (without the quotes) ; this includes your current Training Club players, but not your saved World Tour games
- Modding : you can now very easily any player photo ; HowTo => https://www.managames.com/Forum/topic60-34846.php
- Localization : Czech translation by MichalR70 and Korean translation by Land of the sky, thanks to them ! ːsteamhappyː

Changes :

- Animation : the racket is less low (or high) when a low (or high) ball is too far from the player, so the reach movement looks more natural
- Animation : now the dynamic animation moves a bit less the racket forward/backward to less disrupt the global swing speed
- AutoPos : if standing very close after the rebound (eg: 1 meter) of a lob, your player will now walk back to smash the ball if you stand in the middle of the ball trajectory
- Physics : tuned the ball bounce when the ball has heavy backspin
- Physics : the players (both CPU & Human) now take a bit more margin over the net when they have a low Topspin skill, to avoid doing too many net faults
- Tiredness : the acceleration's tiredness is lowered by 10%
- Strikes : boosted the smash speed when hitting the ball after the bounce
- Strikes : tuned the drop shot & the slice to get a more realistic backspin rate on them
- Strikes : slightly raised the forehand slice speed, especially when prepared early
- Strike : tuned the drop shot to make it more effective
- Strike : it's now a bit easier to hit a drop shot against a drop shot (ie: a slow ball near the net after the bounce)
- Strike : lowered the backspin of the slice when the ball is low so the strike will still be fast enough
- Strikes : reworked the sliding so it triggers a bit less often if you don't have the Sliding talent ; also now sliding provides a precision boost and allows stopping to run a bit faster, so it's really beneficial in most situations (you still lose a bit of topspin & backspin, though)
- Strike : with Slice Mastery, the slice speed has been slightly raised around the baseline
- Strike : removed the speed bonus for the Backhand Smash from the baseline (so now it applies to only the forehand smash)
- Strike : lowered the energy bonus when the strike power is more than 20% under the stamina
- Strike : lowered the precision bonus when the strike power is more than 20% under the precision
- Strike : significantly lowered the precision when hitting an incoming heavily sliced ball
- Strike : the Short Acceleration Smash must now be slightly charged to get its full speed
- Strike : Slightly faster Short Accel
- Strike : Slightly faster Normal & Topspin strikes
- Strike : lowered the speed boost for the Smash from the Baseline when the Smash skill is very high (as the Smash, in this case, is already very powerful)
- Strike : raised a bit the topspin of the Short Acceleration when the ball is hit with the sweet spot, and raised a bit its overall precision
- Strike : the volley drop shop is now a bit less efficient (ie: the opponent has a bit more time to reach it)
- Strike : the slice requires a tiny less preparation time to be hit efficiently
- Service : the strong and normal services on the 2nd serve have now significantly less precision (to simulate the stress)
- AI : many improvements & fixes for the doubles CPU
- AI : the CPU should now catch a lot more balls when serving & volleying and when rushing the net
- AI : the CPU could attempt to do a drop shot when standing very far from the baseline
- AI : in doubles, now the CPU positions itself correctly after a cross-hit from the baseline
- Controls : added a number after the controller names when there are 2 identical controllers connected to your PC (or more), so it's easier to select them
- Controls : the ignored controllers are now hidden from the controller list (in Settings -> Controls)

Bug Fixes :

- Animation : the player's feet could be above the ground when striking the ball while moving
- Animation : the one & two-handed backhands and the two-handed forehand could be done while sidestepping, leading to completely buggy dynamic animation ; now the player will always run when moving before doing these strikes
- Animation : having a longer strike animation could bring a very tiny advantage to the run acceleration
- Animation : fixed a couple of bugs where the dynamic strike animation was getting all weird
- Animation : fixed a couple of dynamic animation glitches
- AI : the CPU returner had too fast reflexes when facing a CPU server (instead of a human server)
- AI : fixed a bunches of cases where the CPU didn't want to play the ball in doubles, but should have played it :fear:
- AI : sometimes the CPU thought he'd need a long time to reach his current position and thus was doing a slice instead of a better strike for no apparent reason
- AI : big rebalancing of the aggressiveness of the CPU after finding a bad bug at the core of the system ; hopefully, it shouldn't change too much its behavior
- AI : the CPU wasn't doing slices often enough
- AI : the CPU could stop running too early when running toward or away from the net, making him miss easy balls ; this fix should greatly improve in some cases the serve & volley of the CPU, and its net rush
- AI : in doubles, the CPU on the baseline wasn't playing the crossed balls ending on his partner's side most of the time
- Modding : wrongly configured Mods could make the game unable to initialize correctly
- CPU vs CPU : the Coaching strategy could fail to reload when continuing a saved match, leading to 50% Energy Spending & everything else at 0%
- Strikes : the woman's acceleration was mostly as fast as the man's acceleration ; now its speed max in ideal conditions with 100% in Power & Consistency is around 162km/h instead of 188km/h ; its global average speed has been lowered by ~10km/h
- Service : the serve could get too slow when the Service Precision was much under the Service Power
- Service : the services that should have been fast could actually end up being quite slow
- Controls : the Dead Zone was half the value shown, and thus the maximum possible Dead Zone was less than 50%
- World Tour : fixed a crash when watching a CPU Player's Tournament Titles screen at the end or the start of a year
- World Tour : the saved games could get wrongly marked as invalid when switching between Men & Women saved games
- World Tour : way too many players were becoming potential #1 in the fictional years
- Menu : it was not possible to open the Match Log (available in Settings -> World Tour & Training Club)

Notes :
- If you want to change your Acceleration Trait in the World Tour, activate the DevMode (HowTo => https://www.managames.com/Forum/topic19-32161.php ), then once done turn it off
- Old Recorded Matches : if for some reason you want to keep all your old recorded matches, then before launching the game with this new update, add this line to your Tennis.ini, under [Record] : (HowTo => https://www.managames.com/Forum/topic19-32161.php )
AutoDelOldBuild = 0

SubBuild 2023.2.15

Bug Fixes :

- 3D Match : the Coaching strategy could fail to reload when continuing a saved match, leading to 50% Energy Spending & everything else at 0% (I'm not sure 100% sure it's fixed in all cases :fear: )

Build 103 - SubBuild 2023.2.11

Bug Fixes :

- 3D Match : the CPU had too good reflexes for the return of serve when returning against a CPU server

SubBuild 2023.2.9

Bug Fixes :

- Controls : the game was blocked when trying to assign a new key combination in Settings -> Controls -> Players -> Keyboard 1 or 2

Version 1.0h - Build 102 - SubBuild 2023.2.8

Another update based on the improvement

New Features :

- Difficulty : new "Beginner" difficulty level ; it makes the skills drop very slowly, but they raise a bit slower as well, meaning you'll need 2 or 3 years to reach the top instead of 1 or 2, but you won't need trainers or anything to become n°1
- Tutorial : learn easily all the gameplay basics to control your players in the 3D matches !
- World Tour : can start a new career from 2023 instead of 2020
- World Tour : player bases updated to the end of 2022 (this will be effective only once you'll have started a new career)

Changes :

- Options : changed "Games in the last set" to "Games in the last set to trigger the tie-break"
- Animation : tuned a bit how the dynamic animation system interpolates the base anim to reach the ball
- 3D Match : greatly lowered the loss of Short Term Form during the match
- 3D Match : the left/right human & AI return position tuned, to better take into account the slice effect
- 3D Match Stats: better detection to determine if an Unforced Error is actually a Forced Error
- 3D Match Coaching : lowering the Attacking Rate will now have a stronger effect on the player
- 3D Match : the players now rest a tiny bit between the 1st & 2nd serve, but only their Breath

Bug Fixes :

- Animation : fixed a weird anim occurring when hitting the ball just a bit after ending to move (bug introduced with the fix in the previous update)
- Animation : fixed several other little weird things in the dynamic animation system, especially for the CPU
- Animation : the racket was going too high or too low when the ball was not at the ideal height
- 3D Match : in doubles, the CPU could avoid hitting the ball, even if it was blatantly for him to play it
- 3D Match : the ball's possible landing zone shape wasn't an oval as shown by the aiming zone
- Modding : the "Images.ini" file couldn't be modded

Notes :

- Modding : if you have a Modded player base, you won't be able to start in 2023
- Modding : if you have a Modded player base only to change the player names, grab the new one from the Modding SDK right before the next time you'll start a new career
