XP Update Part 1 adds an XP system based on factors like distance traveled and entities encountered, as well as a leveling system specific to each save file. Player level will ultimately determine the rate at which stats drain, the max level for a stat, and how much experience is earned per run.
Issues regarding the accuracy of the distance counter have also been fixed, as well as several other minor bugs.
Part two is coming within a few days and will contain the rest of the features!

Update 1.2!
With the release of The Backrooms: Found Footage just 3 days ago there has been a number of stat tweaks, minor and major bug fixes, as well as the addition of more in-game notes;
- Almond Water, and snacks are now slightly more effective - Endless cake and sippy hat have been nerfed - Smilers retreat from repellent more realistically - Drop rates for uncommon and rare items adjusted - Over 10 additional notes can now be found in both game modes - Issues reaching Level 2 are fixed - Issues with Level Select data being lost on death is fixed

Release day is finally here! The Backrooms: Found Footage is finally available (and at a 15% discount for the first 3 days!) Expect many content updates including "The Main 9" coming soon!

Level Select!
One of the final additions before the first phase of the full release is a Level Select screen. After reaching a new level of the backrooms ( and allowing the game to autosave) will unlock that level from the "Level Select" menu.
Level 1 and Level 2 both also feature 1 new entity each, with several more on the way already.

Persistent Items!
The transition from Demo build to Full build has been divided into 3 major updates, Items, Entities, and Maps. I'm happy to announce a large portion of the planned items have been added to the game, and a rarity system has been assigned. "Common" items", like almond water, snacks, and sanity pills, will remain the same and are lost upon death. "Uncommon" items have been added, like energy drinks, and the fidget spinner, as well as "rare" items which will remain mostly a secret. Uncommon and Rare Items will persist across death, meaning the player can accumulate and save these items over multiple playthroughs, increasing their chances of surviving longer in the Backrooms.
The fidget spinner will dramatically reduce sanity loss while being spun.
The ear muffs are an equipable item that will prevent sanity loss from buzzing lights, but will also make it harder to hear entities.
Furthermore, many other issues have been patched in the latest update, including missing fonts for Russian and Ukrainian localization, menu fixes, and performance updates. Currently, I am looking for individuals who would be willing to help me translate the game accurately. Please reach out if you are interested!

Alpha 1.4 and Demo Updates!
With Steam Next Fest beginning in just a few days I have been working on the project non-stop. The full game is nearing completion, and the demo has reached a completed state.
You'll find that the 1.4 Alpha update is bringing several big changes to the full build, as well as the demo, including save game support and full localization for 7 languages!
As development has progressed, the addition of rogue-lite elements has gotten to the point I have decided to fully lean into this aspect of gameplay, and save games will now allow for the player to keep track of their progress. The goal for the player remains the same, to try and escape the Backrooms- however, the difficulty of doing so will be determined by how well the player can manage their resources over multiple lives rather than one. Items like bedrolls, entity repellents, and charms will be kept when the player dies. Stats like total distance travelled or time spent in the backrooms will contribute to permanent stat buffs.
Also, by request- The Backrooms: Found Footage, and its demo, are now available in 8 languages, including French, German, Italian, Ukranian, Spanish, and Russian!
Moving forward, more updates will be coming very soon as we approach Next Fest and then the Full Release on July 4th!
