But before going into detail, let's start our appointment with the State of Eudros, a monthly summary of the latest news regarding what we’ve been working on and what to expect for the world of The Bloodline.

IN THE LAST MONTH...



The work behind the scenes never stops and, over the past month, Miles and the HOOK team have kept focus on the goal: making The Bloodline experience bigger and better every step of the way!

We have released a huge update containing a large number of bug fixes, optimizations, adjustments, and new additions (because boredom in Eudros is not an option 👌).

Every day we take notes on your feedback, especially regarding the new features Miles is testing, listening to your thoughts, suggestions, and preferences.

To facilitate the collection and processing of your most recent bug reports, we've done some cleaning up and opened a new bug report thread in the Steam forum, archiving the previous one.


GOBLINS, YOU BETTER WATCH OUT 👀🎁



As we hinted on the first paragraph, something new is coming! 🍃

A new update is around the corner to bring some bug fixing (such as a fixed day/night cycle duration), a new event, and ALL skill trees will be revamped to function the same way as the dagger skill tree! Happy respec-ing!

To celebrate the end of this exciting year, special themed weapons will be added to deliver festive appreciation to some of the naughty inhabitants of Eudros. We have a list! And we are checking it twice!🎄

Below you can take a peek at their design, but if you're too curious you'll have to work a little for it 👀

On another note, Miles continues to work on popular requests such as full key binding, but - with just two hands - things can take a while. We know this feature is important for you, but we ask you to have just a little more patience while Miles advances through his long to-do list or we mutate him into an Octopus 🐙(Not saying we will. Not saying we won’t).

Hotfix #4 | Diseases, partial keybindings & adjusments

A new hotfix patch is available now to address the latest issues you reported and improve your experience in the lands of Eudros!

BUG FIXES



  • Fixed issue with diseases not curing properly
  • You can cure minor diseases by resting for 3 or more hours in a bed, drinking a Cure Ailments Potion, or by waiting for your character to naturally cure themselves
  • Fixed issue where Logging Hut job board would not spawn properly
  • Fixed issue with Quarry job board only allowing for interaction at certain angles
  • Fixed issue with beds not progressing time when resting in them
  • Fixed issue with library desks not allowing you to study magic until leaving and returning to your village
  • Fixed issue with "Slide" skill causing camera displacement (Added cooldown as well)
  • Fixed issue with completed building window not showing the proper building info
  • The "Deathfog" event should now work properly - The Deathfog spawns have been changed to allow for 15 undead to be spawned at once, preventing hordes of 100's of undead which causes crashes
  • Can no longer interact with most items when the console is open
  • Fishing should no longer break equipping/unequipping (although, for now, the "Sheathe/Draw Weapon" key requires 2 clicks to work. Mouse wheel equipping seems to work fine!)
  • Fixed issue with some guards not allowing you to pay your bounty if it's under 5000 gold
  • Fixed issue where the overworld date would differ from the actual date

ADJUSTMENTS



  • Diseases now appear under your health bar as a status effect. (Hold ALT to view active status effects)
  • Various spelling error corrections
  • Consuming an item from your consumables bag no longer closes the window. To close it, you'll have to press the consumable bag button again.
  • Centered roof on Wizard Tower
  • Increase mining node spawn rate for Rocky Hills areas
  • Made level 3-5 fish slightly easier to catch

  • Fixed issue where, at the end of a month, your calendar would not refresh with the new month
  • Fixed dead-end dialogue with Nathan Cain
  • Player should no longer automatically level up foraging upon starting a new game
  • Fixed issue where some plots would not save donated resources
  • Fixed HUD issues when interacting with plots at your village

  • "Leave Location" volumes now block mounts, including the Broomstick mount.
  • Adjusted blocking volumes/leave location volumes in the Elderglen Woods, preventing players from being able to walk off the map
  • Can no longer shoot a teleportation arrow past blocking volumes/leave location volumes
  • Player can no longer interact with harvestables beyond their interaction distance

BALANCING/ADJUSTMENTS



  • Testing out a new style of skill tree with the DAGGER TREE! This new form of skill tree refines the progression experience in a way that allows players to choose skills that they want to use, while also requiring players to level up the skill that the tree is based on. Any unlocked skill within the dagger tree can be refunded by simply clicking it again, allowing you to respec at will! (Currently, respecing a skill will not remove it from your skill hotbar until you leave an area.)
  • Potion Bag is now a general consumable bag
  • Player can no longer open windows when leveling up
  • Added space between certain UI text elements in the Overworld HUD
  • Changed wording for "The Fletchers Brew" objective
  • Reduced EXP requirements for Woodcutting level
  • Beds now show interaction text
  • Dwarven enemies now spawn at Mun Dorul within the Khenmoore Flatlands
  • Some buildings now require "Large Plots" to prevent building overlaps
  • Building construction can now be canceled (it does not currently return resources, so be sure to empty any resources you have dedicated to the site first!)
  • Constructed buildings can now be destroyed (it does not currently return resources)
  • Buildings no longer require Wood Bundles (Except the preset buildings within the Harbinger's Stronghold - those will be replaced with various castle upgrades in the future!)
  • Assignments can now be viewed and abandoned in your journal!
  • Improved enemy AI
  • Improved companion AI
  • Basic dagger attacks now consume stamina
  • The dagger skill "Infinity Slash" now does 1.25x weapon damage per hit, instead of a base 50 damage per hit (Which was way overpowered!)
  • Adjusted various building plot locations
  • Moved reputation change updates to the text feed on the bottom left instead of having a popup
  • "WASD" letters for the Blacksmithing minigame have been replaced with arrows.
  • You can now use the arrow keys OR the WASD keys for the blacksmithing minigame
  • Adjusted weapon spawn rates in the Rotwood Fort in the Elderglen Woods
  • Picking up items no longer adjusts your mouse sensitivity
  • Added tops to towers in Arema

ADDITIONS



  • Guards have been added! Speak to them to pay off your bounty. Bounties above 5000 gold will cause the guards to become hostile if you can't pay your bounty! Guards will, in the future, give you the option to be arrested and serve time instead of paying.
  • Added "Camp Anywhere" feature. You can now camp anywhere in the overworld and be dropped into a small instance of your surroundings! This, in its current stage, is a test to see if this is what the players have been asking for.
  • Added Autumnal Plains, Autumnal Birch Forest, Snowy Plains, Snowy Pine Forest maps to the Overworld
  • New overworld events! While exploring the overworld, events can now spawn around you. From ambushes to harvestable hotspots to moonstone meteorites!
  • New quests added to Arema: Culling the Bandits, True Relaxation, Stage Fright, Melting Point (WIP)
  • New quests added to Woodhurst: Bark Plague, Woodcutter's Passage
  • New quests added to Velosia: House Blend, Revenge
  • Fixed dialogue with Barlow Amaury
  • Time now pauses when you aren't moving in the Overworld! You can also progress time while standing still by holding SPACE.

  • Farming (very basic, just to test the waters) has been activated! Find or purchase seeds to grow at your stronghold. Only wheat seeds, coffee beans and potato seeds are currently available in-game. (Farming plots can be found in your crafting menu under "Survival")
  • Added a new tutorial window that gives brief overviews of aspects of the game

  • Added new enemy: Infected Ents - Currently only spawn during the "Bark Plague" quest, but will be added throughout the world

State of Eudros #1 – The journey has just begun



Before anything else, we want to thank you for all the loving support you have shown towards The Bloodline, Miles - the sole dev behind the title - and our small team at HOOK who are supporting him in this adventure. We are so proud of our community!

Today we want to inaugurate the "State of Eudros", a monthly summary of the latest news regarding what we’ve been working on and what to expect for the world of The Bloodline.

A LOOK AT THE PAST


The adventure has just begun and there is still a lot of work to do, but thanks to your feedback Miles has been constantly working to evolve and polish The Bloodline, which is growing day by day to become the game that he has envisioned.

Since day 1, three large hotfixes have been released to address the most urgent bugs, our general plans for the future of the game have been shared, and the very first Halloween update brought - in addition to other fixes - new themed content!

Our Discord community has tripled in size and has been involved in polls to have their voices heard on upcoming content. We have also launched the first creative contest with prizes, and plan to organize similar events in the near future.

WHAT'S BREWING?


The work behind the scenes never stops, and a new update is just around the corner!
We will initially be focusing on optimizations and fixes of various bugs, such as problems related to the calendar, some dialogues, EXP, and much more.

As for adjustments and balancing - among other things - you will get a taste of a revamped skill tree system, currently applied only to the Daggers skill tree to gauge the feedback from the community. This new form of skill tree refines the progression experience in a way that allows players to only choose the skills that they really want to use, but it still rewards mastery of that tree as you’ll have to use its skills to progress and unlock stronger ones. Any unlocked skill within the dagger tree can be refunded by simply clicking it again, allowing you to respec at will! You can also expect improvements to the UI/HUD and AI.

New content will be introduced, such as guards to pay bounties to, new Overworld events and you will also be able to test the new "Camp Anywhere" feature.
You will also discover new quests, refined areas, new weapons, a new armor set, and much more.

This is just a little taste of what Miles is working on! (Just keep in mind that everything is still a work in progress and some content might be subject to change).

Hotfix #3 | Teleport & Adjustments

A new hotfix patch is available now to improve your experience in the lands of Eudros! Travel fast, bring a friendly slime by your side, get rid of those Jetpack Goblins faster… and more!

BUG FIXES/OPTIMIZATIONS



  • Can now place a spell in the first offhand spell slot
  • You can now complete "The Family's Pickaxe" peacefully
  • Fixed "Drop Kick" not appearing in your skill book until reloading
  • Optimized Overworld inventory sheet
  • Bloodleech spell should no longer lock attacks
  • Small Green Slime companion should now spawn with you, if you selected him as a companion
  • Replaced flintlock on Artificer's table at the Harbinger Stronghold with a working version
  • Now – when loading a save file – the game recognizes the correct folder and the 'Load Save' button is no longer greyed out

BALANCING/ADJUSTMENTS



  • Wolves now have their level locked between 3 and 5
  • Loot containers can now be quick-looted with the space button and quick-closed with the E button
  • "Missing Miner" quest indicator now directs you to the cave entrance before leading you to the miner's location

Hotfix #1 and Save files info

The first hotfix patch is available now with bug fixes, optimization, several adjustments and new additions!

⚠️ IMPORTANT: MOVE YOUR SAVES AFTER DOWNLOADING THE PATCH ⚠️


Due to some changes to the saving system to improve it for future updates, you’ll need to move your saves to another folder after downloading this new patch.

How and where to move your save files (.sav):

  • Get save files from "steamapps -> common -> TheBloodline -> Build5.51 -> WindowsNoEditor -> TheBloodline -> Saved -> SaveGames".
  • Move them into: “Windows(C:) -> (username) -> AppData -> Local -> TheBloodline -> Saved -> SaveGames”.
    <*> If you don't see the "AppData" folder or "TheBloodline" folder in the appadata one, launch the game and create a generic new save to let the game automatically create those folders.
    <*> Sometimes Windows hides the app data so you may need to unhide it.

BUG FIXES & OPTIMIZATIONS




  • Fixed Millshade stealable items not increasing bounty in Elderglen (Elderglen is the parent city of Millshade)
  • Fixed issue where more than 1 reagent would be removed from your inventory when adding it to a potion
  • Various grammatical fixes
  • Health Regen buffs from food no longer make you borderline invincible
  • Fixed issue with the secret not properly working at the top of the Steps of Esros (although it was hilarious)
  • Fixed fishing bug where you couldn't fish at the same fishing spot after successfully catching a fish
  • Wind, rain and thunder now are tied to the "Ambiance" volume slider
  • Fixed bug where hotbar would not populate with number keys
  • Optimized trading window - should no longer lag when selling and purchasing many items at once
  • Replaced blastspear recieved from Soili Strenkann with the working blastspear (Note: Blastspears are meant to be used with shields!)
  • Players should no longer receive empty calendar event updates ( "No Event" is happening here at "X" )
  • All trees at the Entrace to Monlodir now have collision
  • Removed entrance to the Mines of Monlodir (Will be added later as an entire dungeon that will connect Lonland and Elderheim)
  • Blocked off some unfinished areas within Velosia
  • Fixed journal entry for Slimy Business to reflect the proper item required

  • Can now recieve the family's pickaxe in a non-hostile way from Greg Hammond

  • Added new enemy! Dwarven Blastspearmen. Watch out for those Blastspears! They deal a ton of damage!
  • Added new enemy! Dwarven Scoutcopters. Dwarves flying these vehicles can not only shoot at you with their own rifles, but the cannon mounted on the bottom of the chopper!
  • Added new enemy spawns to the Entrance to Monlodir (The Outer Dwellings)
  • Added new enemy! Dwarven Recon Drones. These tiny drones patrol areas, and if they spot you, they'll try to gun you down with their mounted flintlock!
  • Added new loot spawns to the Entrance to Monlodir (The Outer Dwellings) - Definitely needs more work, but this area will be pretty cool when finished!
  • Movement controls can now be rebound
  • Added loot boxes to Tomb of the Betrayer

Hello Harbingers,

First, we would like to welcome all new members to our community and thank everybody for the great reception the game has had, your support in these first few days has been incredible!

Status of Development



Milo started this journey on his own years ago and now The Bloodline moves into a new stage where he is gathering lots of feedback directly through many different channels.

He is already working on a significant patch to introduce some of the community suggestions, fix some of the reported issues, enhance game performance and bring new content to the game.

We just need to run some tests before we put the patch out in case additional work is needed. Please, be patient and stay tuned!

Future Plans



Mmmhhh… we are still getting used to the foresight ability but what we can anticipate some of what was originally planned:

  • Patches – will primarily be focused on bug fixing, performance improvements and balancing. They will depend very much on the reports we gather from the community.

  • Content updates – also introducing fixes, enhancements and balancing as well as playable content such as new weapons, new Skills, new Points of Interest, new Quests, new Enemies, Guilds, new Events, etc.

  • Kingdom Updates – Updates that will present a whole new distinctive kingdom with major cities and smaller villages, large map explorable areas with camping sites, specific region quests and additions to the main story questline, new faction of enemies and a dungeon… among many other surprises.

The cadence of delivery may be affected by the amount of feedback and bug reports we receive as this is a personal development. But in any case, before the end of the year we hope to be able to release different patches and the “Southern Winds” Content update.

Southern Winds will populate the South part of the current map. Specially Arema and its surroundings, will add new points of interests, new enemies, quests and puzzles and, finally, will unlock the Aeromancy skill tree.

FAQ



Will the Game have Coop or Multiplayer?

As much as we like the idea, is not on the current scope of the game. Once we polish the experience closer to the point we want to deliver we can start considering further options.

Would you localize the game in my language?

We do consider localizing the game but implementing many different languages while the game is at early stages of production multiplies the work, needs to get sign offs from the localization department, may require retranslations, there could be interim moments where not all lines would be translated… all of this could heavily affect delivery times.
We believe it is better to wait until we have a better idea on what the final texts for the game are.
That said we may test additional languages to experience and apprise the process 😉

Will updates delete my saved files?

With the first patch that is in the works you will need to move your saves to another folder (apologies for that!). In general - through the Early Access phase - some of these patches and Content Updates may affect saved games, specially on the first stages of production. This is something we try to avoid and we will try to notify you in advance if any action to preserve them properly is necessary.

After the upcoming patch you’ll need to transfer save files (.sav) in another folder:

  • Get save files from "steamapps -> common -> TheBloodline -> Build5.51 -> WindowsNoEditor -> TheBloodline -> Content -> Saved -> SaveGames".
  • Move them into: “Windows(C:) -> (username) -> AppData -> Local -> TheBloodline -> Saved -> SaveGames”.
  • Sometimes Windows hides the app data so you may need to unhide it.

Can we have a winged donkey to ride and fly, like Pegasus?

Can we ask the WWE “The Bloodline” to change its stage name to avoid confusions?
