There is this very unfair and prejudiced phrase in the Polish language called "kocia muzyka". You can roughly translate it to "cat's music". It means that this particular music doesn't sound too great, that it's more like a loud racket than real music.
But, dammit! It's not true and it's racist as hell! First of all, we cats are very talented and devoted to our music. You can say it's like second nature to us! Second of all, I know what you are thinking. Paws would be a bit problematic if one were to dream of becoming a world famous instrumentalist. Alas, overcoming adversity is our forte! Nothing, I say nothing is impossible for a committed cat with a well defined objective in his life. Are you familiar with the Keyboard Cat? No?! And you call yourself a fan of music? You probably don't even know Catman John either.
Regardless of your naivety, we have done everything in our power to ensure the soundtrack for The Chronicles of Nyanya would be the most epic, purrific and engaging OST you've ever heard. The tracks were composed by the one and only Marcin Maślanka – renown sound designer, composer, musician, keyboardist and cat lover. Some tracks are so touching, they make our inner cat purr. We received a ton of feedback from people who said that cats are fun to play with, but also “for God’s sake, give us a break with the music, it’s so generic it hurts”. We found the criticism sensible and constructive. And so, we ventured forth, trawling through the land of the music free market, traversed the internet to find a worthy musician willing to take up the epic challenge of composing a soundtrack.
Our quest was successful and the game now has new tunes composed by Marcin Maślanka, a well-known sound designer, composer, musician, keyboardist, and a huge cat lover.

My personal favorite. Monty Python famously invented the Knights Who Say Ni and now Hamstercube has created this one. Purrgli is a great Catmerian purrior who says only "yes" during the whole game. The affairs are so wonderfully wrapped around this fact that Purrgli never has to say anything else. It's like Terry Prachett's narrativium set in action; the story fits no matter what. Brilliant.

In a game full of cats you don't expect the theme of existential nihilism to take away the will to live and fight. But it's there, countered by friendship. The underlayer of philosophical and social commentary is light and funny, like the whole game, but worth noting. The main protagonist, Catair, is female and regularly hears sexist remarks. Black cats face discrimination for the untrue stereotype that they bring bad luck. On top of that there are numerous comments about simple workers oppressed by capitalists, priests and ghosts.

Rolls are considered pets, farm animals or mounts - this is, as far as I know, a concept unique to this game. Cats keep buns like sheep, shaving them regularly for the crumble from which sweaters are made. Other kinds of rolls include horserolls, rollicorns and hunting rolls which are faithful like dogs and useful in battles. Take care of a small kaiser roll, decide how to raise it and see what it will become when it grows up.

You see many guards who took an arrow in the knee, and hear that war never changes. In other games such jokes are rare Easter eggs – in The Chronicles of Nyanya, it’s one enormous omelet.

Local cats give thanks to Overcat for creating the world and to his son, Meowdur, for creating the first settlement, Meowdur's Gate. Overcat is portrayed with his head stuck in a slice of bread, which symbolizes the divine union of cats and pastry (more about this later). There's also the self-explanatory Goddess of the Great Bowl of Goodness and Catubis, whom cats meet after each one of their nine deaths. The pantheon is rich in funny divine beasts and there are more to discover. I've only (ahem) scratched the surface.

The core of Hamstercube studio consists of two unconventional individuals. Ilona Myszkowska and Adrian Pskiet speak a strange language full of twisted words, memes and inside jokes. The Chronicles of Nyanya is a reflection of their world. A fantasy jRPG with cute handmade graphics, the game offers a story about meowbarian purriors, battle pastries and Nazi furniture.
Nyanya is a feline world and this means cats of all shapes and sizes - and classes. The main protagonist, Catair, is a meowsassin, for example. And Meowdledore, one of her reluctant companions, is a meowmage with the magic power of light side of the Yarn Ball of Force at his disposal. On their adventures, the fellowship of adventourists fight with green orcats in the forests, brawl with drowncats in the swamps, and battle ghostcats in the dungeons. Craziness!

One may get the impression that Catair is a professional loser, but no - she is a meowsassin of the Order of the Moving Red Dot. Her claws bring havoc, terror and high damage.
Her difficult childhood has left an imprint of trauma on her fragile heart, turning her into a dark, emo avenger of hatred and an emotional eater.

An experienced clericat of the Goddess of the Great Bowl of Goodness. He has a host of divine powers at his disposal, ranging from healing-petting psalms to ravaging slipper comets (super effective agains smuffinpiders).
He’s a fanatic of magical artifacts and consequently purrsues his aim of cluttering his inventory with legendary items.

The bravest and wisest of the Catmerian purriors, known not only for his great deeds but also as a cover model for “Muscles and Fur” - the magazine for real tomcats.
The might of his blows is matched only by the power of his character. He dreams that one day his legend will surpass that of his father, but that will be pretty hard, as his father’s legend was a pretty huge legend.

Catniss is an archer and the champion of the goddess of archery, Meowrida the Brave. She was raised by ent-cats and she is a long-lost princess, but no one knows about that.
Catniss treasures friendship. She has a lot of it and she plans to share it with everyone, even if nobody wants any.
Her best friend - Rollenhwyvar - is a fighter roll, who aids her in battle.

Owner of numerous cool gadgets, with which his disgustingly rich parents try to make up for their lack of attention.

Purrevar is a black cat and a proud prince of Underpurr. He is also a graduate of the Ultimate Villain High, where he majored in Nemesis Studies. After graduating, he started working as the main enemy of Francat’s team.
He wields two scimitars of darkness forged with rap music. His best friend is a chocolate pastry smuffinpider who aids him in his battles. Since he wasn’t very creative, he just named the creature “Smuffinpider”.
