The Classrooms - 0.6 Update: Welcome to the Playrooms!
After the incredible success of The Poolrooms update, featuring the terrifying Whispering Wyrm, we're excited to announce our latest major content drop: The Playrooms. For the first time, our team has been able to dedicate all our time and energy to this project, and we can't wait for you to experience what we've been working on!
New Environment: The Playrooms
Step into The Playrooms, a sprawling and seemingly friendly play zone suspended in an infinite void of darkness. What appears to be a nostalgic space for childhood memories quickly turns into a surreal and disorienting labyrinth, where faint echoes of the past twist and distort. Traverse endless paths, take on platforming challenges, and uncover the hidden depths of this eerie environment.
Explore two special areas within The Playrooms:
Chewtopia: Indulge in the atmosphere of a classic '90s fast food joint, complete with retro aesthetics.
Froggy's Ticket Arcade: Engage in a variety of mini-games and win tickets! Try your hand at spin wheels, basketball, timing challenges, skee ball, Tic Tac Toe, and more. Trade your hard-earned tickets for prizes!
New Entities: The Necropede and The Tenant
The Necropede: A monstrous, wall-crawling centipede that carries a head and stalks its prey with unnerving precision. Watch out as it lurks in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
The Tenant: A large, eerie stone head with grotesque red appendages. The Tenant uses its writhing tentacles to detect movement and drops leeches that roam the environment. These leeches latch onto potential prey and release a pungent gas to alert The Tenant. Be quick to squish them before they have a chance to give you away!
New Mechanic: Smell
We've introduced a new mechanic that changes the way you interact with the environment and entities: Smell. As you move around, running and jumping, your smell meter gradually increases. If you let it build up too much, you'll start to stink, attracting the attention of entities that rely on smell to hunt. Manage your scent by using deodorants or other methods to stay under the radar and avoid unwanted attention.
Character and Gameplay Enhancements
New Player Model: Robert Chen, our protagonist, has received a complete makeover! The new model boasts higher quality visuals and is fully rigged for advanced facial animations, allowing for a more immersive and emotional experience.
(Fun Development Image We Took When Testing Facial Animations)
Improved Animations and IK: We've fixed various animation bugs, making movement and interactions smoother and more realistic.
Object Throw Mechanics: Objects now have specialized throwing physics. For example, basketballs have a natural upward trajectory and backspin, making gameplay more intuitive and engaging.
Lore and Storytelling
New Lore Documents: Uncover more secrets of the Superstructure with newly added documents that shed light on its mysterious origins.
Lore Tapes: Discover three new lore tapes that delve into the histories of the three organizations operating within the Superstructure, providing more context and depth to the world of The Classrooms. Additional Improvements Enhanced Enemy AI: Enemies now navigate the environment more reliably, creating more intense and dynamic encounters. Improved Water Interactions: Water ripples are now more realistic, enhancing the visual immersion and interaction with water surfaces.
Gangler Audio Updates: Experience a more atmospheric and chilling encounter with improved audio for the Gangler entity.
Custom Mode Overhaul
You can now customize the abilities of each entity in Custom mode including hearing, sight, smell, freeze when looked at, etc. This way you can make your own crazy combinations of entities and abilities to create fun challenges!
We're incredibly excited for you to dive into this update and explore everything The Playrooms have to offer. As always, we look forward to your feedback and can't wait to hear about your experiences with the new content!
Thank you for your continued support, and happy exploring!
