Vladislav Ledenev (our 2D artist) decided to renew gamepad image that in gamepad configuration menu, soon we will add them in the game. He made 2 types.

Which type do you prefer? Is stylized configuration easy to understand?
During last 2 weeks we didn’t do much, small updates and improvements mostly:
Intro quality has been improved. Also is it well working on your PC? Not freezing?
Small event for the second section.
We added some events for the third section.
Moment with dark house in the fourth section has been improved.
Small improvements.
We already are working at last locations for the final section. The final one is left (which is the most hard to make). After that, we will need to set the sound, lighting and events. Probably it will take a lot of time. This stage of the game development usually takes most time. For us it is important since we want to make game final made on very good quality level but also we will try to find the balance between time and our desire.

Summer is started! The Cursed Forest v0.6.6
For most people summer is the resting season, but for us it is the hottest time of our job. Final section became more near to the full release, just a few things left to do. That makes full release of The Cursed Forest very closely. In current time we mostly concentrated to release last section but we will try to write short news more often.
Even while we so busy we prepared update with a lot of previous sections improvements.
Thanks to the Ilia Chernecov for the plugin that allowed us to integrated game intro playback.
We added option in configuration that allows to turn off V-Sync.
Problem with collision in the third section has been fixed.
Main ritual stone achievement now should be working.
Main character model was changed to the new one that is better.
In the third section finally view of the fourth section location has been actualized.
Few small events has been added

In the next update we plan to renew scarecrow model. It will be highly improved and it will make easier to animate it. Also we will continue to improve previous sections but mainly we will work hard at last section for make game release faster. Thank you for your time and don’t forget to follow our news.
Spring update. The Cursed Forest v0.6.5.
Our 5th section (final) development progress is going well, but still it is too early to test the result. We decided to focus on horizontal level development. It is mean that we develop level from the beginning till the end of the iteration. From the empty state till the fully playable state. By this our main development is going more smoothly and that is also a good motivation during this protracted state in which we trying to get from the early access to the full release.
At the current moment first location in the static geometry worked out well. During our next step we will take more attention on events and lightening, that will allow us to let you try 5th section beginning part. In the current update we added little bit new things in the previous sections, optimization little bit improved and we corrected doing few problems that our community told us about. At those things early access is a good thing because it helps to improve our game before the full release.
We improved save system. Now you can check date and time of the save file. Thanks to the DocCovington for the helping to make it released.

Source of lighting that cast a shadow is optimized.
Range of shadow rendering is optimized (for any graphic level).
Model of the main character is improved, now all we need is to integrate it.
Many small events have been added.

Also, we want to thank streamer Misanna because she helped us to find and fix many in game problems.
In the next update we are planning to integrate main character’s model and improve some of his animation, and to add more small events. Stay tuned!
Experimental improvements.
We prepared small update, in this update we fixed a few problems that our community found.
Now usual save game files in the current version could be loaded without problem.

Happy Valentine ’s Day and here some news for you.
Manual how to launch The Cursed Forest on Wine will be later, because we still need to translate it, but bellow you can check our progress during these 2 weeks:

Many small improvements especially on the 4th section
Fixed the problem when wasn’t any sound of the steps on the water.
Started to improve visual of the main characters. We plan to make them look more interesting.

Thanks to the January vacation, first month of the 2018 year went very fast, but still we done a lot of things:
We found solution to the old problem when textures become muddy. From now this trouble shouldn’t appear.
We improved optimization this made lower freezing during the activation layers.
We lowered noticeability of the trouble with too intensive shining of the objects, but still we didn’t solve this problem yet we just found the way to hide it.
In the section 4 we added more traps and small events also we added few small improving of the previous sections.
Work at 5th section is not stopped either, Andrey KPy30 Suhachev made some monumental constructions of the final scene and made environment livelier. But still there is many things that need to be done.
Updates that were written before added only in the beta branch.
Another news – with Alexey Fufaev help we could launch The Cursed Forest on Linux by Wine!. Game run there pretty stable, but with a few not critical problems. Very soon we will prepare step by step instruction how to run it and more description about that.

Happy New Year v2! The Cursed Forest v0.6.1.
We made it right in time, before New Year has started we bring to you our special update, that add in the 4th section so long waited – game-notes! In them you can see continue of our storyline that soon will be fully concluded in the final 5th section. That is mean that 4th section is done , from now on we will only add there small fixes.
Besides the game-notes we also added:
We added experimental interface improvement (something can be broken!).
We added experimental italics for the game-notes.
We took off excessive selection of the antialiasing configuration.
Tessellation that working not well with current CRYENGINE version is disabled.
Added activation of the Silhouette POM instead of that.
4th section optimization is improved.
Previous sections also improved.
Added new achievements for the 4th section.
In the next year we will work hard at the final section and will do all to make it interesting and finally make a full game release.

Happy New Year! The Cursed Forest v0.6.0.
This year was passed pretty fast, unfortunately we didn’t make full release before the New Year as it was planned but still, during this year we achieved a lot. There is still a small corrections that need to be done for the section 4 also we are planning to release few not difficult ideas for this section, but in the same time Andrew KPy3O Sukhachev work hard on the final section (5th section), so our work will not go slower.
List of the game update during this month:
Now you can visit any houses in the 4th section.
Now 4th section will end in the place that it should to be (after the gates).
We fixed action icons.
We improved gamepad support.
When you change FOV configurations all changing visible right away starting from game menu.
We fixed the problem with the stuck of UI elements after the saved game is loaded.
Brightness and gamma now should not be dropped during the level.
Different small fixes of the previous sections.
During this year we've got a lot of difficulties that attached our work speed, but there was a good side too, while we were fixing those difficulties we’ve got a new opportunity and perspective. Still we need to do quite a lot but our victory is near (about full game release). Now we have an important task to make final as great as it possible. Also right now we have the last chance to fix storyline moments and make conclusion most effective.
We wish you a happy new year and we want to wish you to finish all the undone things that you started in this year. Halloween in the cursed forest!
Finally our professional celebration has arrived! Why ours? Because our project is a horror game in the autumn forest, and also because while we developing our game a lot of hellish things happens. Hopefully lately we didn’t get any new troubles (only our story-writer’s internet became a pumpkin and now he in the adventure trip, searching for the new provider, that is why last game-note translating is little delayed). But he found wi-fi to send you this message about some news. Which news?!
News, about our traditional Halloween present!
For those who didn’t go for a walk in our cursed forest, we give you an opportunity to do it right now! With the 35% off discount! Also we made gameplay trailer that you asked us to make for a long time. But only now we got opportunity to make it exactly as we wanted to make. Also we finally made intro cutscene, that explain our main character pre-story. Both of this video will be available in our official Steam page. We improved our game with some fresh update.

Better optimization. Compressed textures with excessive resolution and also we generate missing shaders combinations.
Our 4th section is soon will be ready to full release and then only final section will be left.
