In this time we made an update pretty fast, but it mainly just fixes few errors and also adds some new content, but it can possibly add some new errors (as it usually happens). For now this update is just for the public beta-branch.
In previous news we mentioned about transfer to the new CRYENGINE version. It brings not just fixes but also some new errors as we mentioned before. But good side that in 5.3.4 version there is some improvement plus we can fix something by ourselves. For now we think about transfer our game to the CRYENGINE 5.4 in which Crytek shows a big activity and that is very good news. We hope that it will greatly improve engine quality.
List of fixes:
Starting screen now work normally.
We changed notes print.
Print integration became simpler.
We fixed errors that was found out by Vitaly Efremov.
We activate some events that was disabled.
Mistakes that we still have:
Wet objects became too shiny. It appeared after shaders cash precompiling.
Most of the errors that we had in previous news are still there but we are trying to fix them.
P.S. The Cursed Forest is already 2 years in the early access, time flies fast!
P.S.S. At the current moment we are developing final section (section 5).
Autumn came to our autumn forest!
We finally transferred our game to the CRYENGINE version 5.3.4!
It was very hard transfer that is why it took a lot of time, especially because our programmer was busy as we mentioned in the previous news. Also we had some different problems that cost us some time. But finally we made it.
But there are still a few not elaborated things that is why The Cursed Forest on CRYENGINE 5.3.4 for now will be accessed only in the public beta-branch. In the main branch we plan to add full 4th section. Good news that in the certain version location with an abandoned house is added. In the final version there will be a lot of creepy and interesting things. Main productivity is improved plus we add experimental compiled set of shaders combinations, this should solve the problem with the short-time strong freezing that was because of shaders compile combination during the game.
What is wrong with the newest version:
Greeting screen is broken (that appeared when you start the game).
Volume lights like in the campfires or flashlights displaying with the graphic artifacts.
Physic interaction with the objects in many cases still is not correct.
Water from the lake in the section 4 is not flowing away (but should). Very weird problem on the CRYENGINE 5.3.4.
4th section notes are written but still not translated and edited on English that is why we still didn’t add them.
Many of events are still turned off.
Not all achievements are accessible.
Sometimes when you exit the game some error message is appearing. We found the reason but still didn’t fix it yet.
Problems with the zoom button are still there but we found how to fix it.
In the current time we already are working at the final game section. Finally The Cursed Forest full release became nearest than ever before!

Our transfer to the newest CRYENGINE version 5.3 little delayed (like in our style) because our programmer moved to the other place and it took time, and process itself have a lot of difficulties but we keep working to make it done as soon as possible.
In our game-development process 4 sections is near ready we need just to finish abandon house territory, bridge and section ending. We decided that rest part of the 4 section Andrey KPy3O will make in previous CRYENGINE version but next content will be in the newest version.
Next plan is to develop final 5 section, at current moment we are making different 3D models for 5 section. We hope that transfer to the newest CRYENGINE version will be easier than before and 4 section will be done during the nearest weeks.
Also we have an opportunity to experiment with Vive, maybe we can get something interesting for The Cursed Forest from it.

Greetings! We bring to you our first update from this year... This release was very delayed because of many complexity but we finally made it!
This is the last update on the CRYENGINE 5.2 next one will be on CRYENGINE 5.3, that will help us to fix some old problems, that we couldn’t fix, for example game crush (that happened rarely) during the end of section 1.
If we talk about the main changing, we made a huge progress at the section 4 elaboration but it still not done on the 100%, that is why there is only part of the section 4 that will be available for the familiarization..
Details:
New notes are disabled.
Nearly all of the achievements are disabled.
Some part of the events is active but still some of them disabled or not done yet.
Sound accompaniment not finished yet.
You can’t enter the house yet, it will be able in the next update.
Environment elaboration is nearly done.
For previous sections we added experimental optimization that should help you with a short-time FPS decreasing. Also it is important to say that we use word “experimental” because of the reason that it can cause some problems, but that problems can’t make our game not playable. This update adds not so much new but our next update will be more important.
We decided to extend final section that will make The Cursed Forest longer but in the same time full game release will be little delayed from the time that we planned before. We by ourselves want to make our game full released as soon as possible but in a same time we think that it will be better to take some extra time to make our game more enjoyable.
During New Year vacation we allowed our self to have a little rest and gather strength for the final step in our game development and releasing full version of our game.
Before game release we are going to make a few updates for the early access. In one of this updates we plan to transfer The Cursed Forest to the CRYENGINE 5.3 version (for now our game on CRYENGINE 5.2.2 version), it will help us to fix a few problems that we still have.

New Year is near. To celebrate this we made The Cursed Forest New Year discount, 35% off!
At current moment we have almost completely finished third section (but there is still some small fixes needed) and considerably moved at section 4 development. Also we decided to increase final stage, that will increase our game, but development will take little more time that it was planned before.
In this update we add a lot of small fixes and optimization, also we added some events. Next bigger update we plan to make in the beginning of 2017 year.
Since it is the end of the year let’s make some overall.
A lot of things happened during this year: game transfer to the newest CRYENGINE version, making a tough decisions for improving our game, new sections releases, war with army of bugs and errors, our (developers) surviving during sections releases. Development is going pretty harder than we thought, but we concentrating our strength to make a last dash to the finish.
We thank you for your support, your feedbacks and your reviews, that incredibly helped us at improving The Cursed Forest during this year. Without our great community game would be less good as it is. That is why we think that our risky decision to make an early access version wasn’t bad.
If you allow me, I (monkey that writing this news for you), more personally address some words to my coworkers. We had a lot of troubles during this year. We needed to combine ordinary life and active development of our project, holding hand on the pulse. Therefore it is good to know that for a long time we hasn’t any conflicts between each other and didn’t make any long delays in our work. This project is kind of challenge that steel our team and soon we are going to complete it. This gives us a hope in a future after we release The Cursed Forest and our next path will be less tough and more positive.
Also once again I want to say to our community that we are still not very popular but it is good to know that The Cursed Forest have community which same as our team so strong with enthusiasm believe in it. We read all reviews and try to watch our game let’s players as most as possible. Our feedbacks show us that we are going on the right way but still there are some things that we should work at. From Halloween holiday we made a good job, and seriously increased section 3 and solved many problems that our community and we find out, but it is still a beta version. Still some of things need to be fixed such as section 3 notes localization.
In other hand from now you can play first locations from the section 4! We developing section 4 in a same time we finishing work at the section 3, which make us closer to the final The Cursed Forest release.
Main improvement:

Open access to the beta brunches!
We bring you good news; we decided to open access to the beta - brunches! There will be two kinds of beta - brunches:
beta_public – experimental brunches and old_version_public - brunches that will show you The Cursed Forest old game versions (builds).
In the experimental brunches we are going to upload fresh updates, but we wouldn’t be sure about their stability. We will try to inform you about them ASAP so all volunteers would be able to help us to track bugs or errors by using these experimental brunches and give us a feedback you can help us very much by polishing them. Some of the Section 3 fixes is already available on the beta_public – Public beta brunches.
old_version_public_, this brunches will include old The Cursed Forest versions, which will allow you to see how game was looked like at the early stage of the development and how it changed during our development.
That’s all for now. Expect of this on the current moment we are still polishing Section 3 and work hard at the Section 4 – the last section. The Cursed Forest release is coming near day by day so we will keep you on touch about our progress!

We wish you a happy Halloween! Since it is Halloween our team decided to prepare for you a nightmarish present! The third section of our game! “Why is it nightmarish?!” – You may ask. It's because it is still a beta-version!
Unfortunately, we need more time to fix all of the problems (it is really very, very difficult!) and to finish some things that are not yet completed - then we can introduce to you to the full version of section three. But in the meantime our beta-version of the third section invokes the Halloween spirit – spooky bugs and glitches are hiding amongst the trees (like Sarah), and many different strange things are waiting for you. But if you are brave enough, you can write to us (at: feedback@thecursedforest.ru) all about the things that you discover and help us to defeat this evil!
And to make this present less scary, we’ve prepared a 40% discount of our game! This is the last discount of this size for the year, so it’s a chance not to be missed!
We’ve written a list of the things that are disabled, as well as errors and glitches that we’re already aware of, and also how you can repair some of them until we permanently purge these evils. You can find this list below.
* This is a Beta-test of transferring the game’s assets to CRYENGINE 5. There is a possibility of encountering bugs and incompatibility.
* Some textures may become “muddy”.
* Old save game files (from version 2.2d and earlier) will not work correctly. Begin a new game in the menu and choose the desired starting section (you can start from section 3 here).
* Section 3 game-notes are unavailable (currently being translated and corrected).
* Many section 3 events are disabled (in the process of being stabilized).
* Most of the new achievements are disabled during game stabilization.
* There is a possibility of incorrect reflections on the windows.
* There is a possibility of the game crashing after Section 1. To avoid this, load the last autosave and play from there.

Third section is delayed.
Good news, we are still alive, bad news our third section release is delayed. Game transfer on CRYENGINE 5 went harder than we expected, that took from us a lot of time and strength. But still there is not so many things left to do for make this release. We need: add sound, to do some level-design improvements, add few more events, test and optimize it.
We hope this news doesn’t make you sad. Our new third section release date will be at Halloween! Stay tuned.
