Hotfix V1.4.13

In this little fix we have addressed two showstoppers on the MacOS version of the game that were introduced with a (somewhat) recent MacOS update:

Hotfix V1.4.13 Fixes

  • Fixed progress blocking hang-up in tutorial 4 [MacOS]
  • Fixed progress blocking hang-up in career mode team setup [MacOS]
  • Fixed issue resulting from this update where your savegames were hidden from you

In the end it turned out to be something as trivial as a mouse pointer deactivation function not working anymore! The little things...

Anyway, have fun with the game!
Cheers

Patch V1.4.9

With this patch we're wrapping up the V1.4 milestone. This update brings one very important fix to career progression (XP not being calculated correctly among the team), an equally important fix to team leader AI behavior, as well as new UI that lets you take a close look at other teams and their riders between stages to see how they are faring.

A very large change that at first might seem small is a change to slipstream on easy flat and downhill terrain. Both the slipstream bonus as well as the maximum slipstream values have been increased for that terrain. This has all kinds of consequences, like non-flat proficient riders hiding in P3 not being wasted before they even get to a final climb, escape groups being more viable in general and having better chances at winning, sprinters being better in general because groups are more sticky (on easy terrain), etc.

Big slipstream on easy terrain makes riding in the peloton a breeze.

Another thing that was problematic in terms of balance were that ITTs and TTTs didn't quite matter enough. A little too short and too boring because of it. Going one less than max move most of the time is not challenging in any way. With longer ITTs and TTTs, more foresight is required in handling resources, and larger time gaps are possible for specialists. This also makes weird extreme E/t and A/t builds less powerful.

Patch 1.4.9 Fixes & Improvements

  • Added UI switch to see the recovery status and prestige gain of AI teams in between stages by switching to their team view. This allows you to closely track AI teams and their riders.
  • Rebalanced slightly the attribute bonuses of specialization choices
  • Rebalanced terrain slipstream values, improving slipstream in flat and downhill terrain
  • Rebalanced the average length of prologues (+), ITTs (+++), and TTTs (++)
  • Rebalanced Downhill 3 specialization points
  • Tweaked AI race choice / planning logic for empty races in career mode
  • Updated and tweaked tutorials to adapt to new balance
  • Fixed team XP sharing not calculating correctly
  • Fixed single races set to amateur starting with a peloton without any resources
  • Fixed tutorial riders missing their country of origin and age information
  • Fixed peloton not being able to recover energy (for real this time ;)
  • Fixed AI behavior that made leaders / favorites drop behind the peloton and not catch up again
  • Fixed instance where riders being able to catch up when they shouldn't have the option
  • Fixed not being able to see list of favorites for the next stage during a rest day
  • Fixed display of sponsor prestige requirement not being consistent across screens
  • Fixed rider tooltip not showing the correct recovery % values between stages
  • Fixed minor UI alignment issue of peloton Energy / Attack display

We're now going back to slowly working on the next bigger milestone update unless something demands a quick fix. We'll keep you updated!

Cheers!

Hotfix V1.4.8

A few more fixes to the current V1.4 milestone version.

V1.4.8 Hotfix

  • Fixed crash on leaving stage
  • Fixed crash when removing a rider from the team who is currently selected in the team manager
  • Fixed occasional crash when generating seasons
  • Fixed incorrect points being allocated to riders in simulated races for final stage climbs

We are continuing to address any issues that pop up and with more playtime gone into this version by now, some more fine tuning can be done too. Please let us know of any issues with the game that you’ve discovered. Thank you for your feedback!

Cheers!

Patch V1.4.7

With this update we have some more fixes for the less common crashes and the game tools, but also some important tweaks! Overall, V1.4 seems to be in a good place right now.

Note: This patch was previously rolled back for a few hours due to a save path issue. Now the update is live as originally intended.

V1.4.7 Patch Changelog

  • Fixed crash on exit on Mac devices
  • Fixed workshop tool and race editor not starting on Windows
  • Fixed previous season promotion / demotion results showing incorrectly
  • Fixed crash on mouse over disqualified rider inside the tactics screen
  • Fixed occasional crash on reordering when leader was selecting stack position
  • Fixed crash when pinning disqualified rider inside the tactics screen
  • Fixed peloton not recovering energy like other riders would
  • Tweaked slipstream values for mountain terrain sections (making medium slopes milder)
  • Tweaked the distribution of races in the Pro League calendar (career mode)

More tweaks and fixes are coming down the road, of course.
Cheers!

Hotfix V1.4.6

We've managed to localize and circumvent the bug that was causing the game to crash on some Mac systems. It is a specific shader (rendering the shadows on the slopes) that is causing the issue and switching it off will result in the game running as intended. This is now possible in the latest version of the game.

Note 1: If you do not experience this crash when launching into any race or tutorial on a track, then you can ignore this and don't need to do anything!

Note 2: We'll look into rewriting the shader so that the crash doesn't appear. Due to the long iteration times involved due to us not having the hardware that produces the crash, we went with a workaround first so that at least you can play the game properly.

Version 1.4.6 Changelog

  • Added external option to turn off slope shadow rendering shader for those who had their Mac version of the game crash due to that shader.

The Workaround

Unfortunately this doesn't work without your input yet. You'll need to go to the options.json file found at:
"/Users//Library/Application Support/com.camshaftsoftware.cyclist"

and open that file in a text editor. Then search for the debug section. It should look like the following:
"debug":{"log_level":"warning"}

Replace that with
"debug":{"disable_slope_rendering":1.0, "log_level":"warning"}

The game should now launch and run correctly. Setting this option will remove shading effects on mountain and downhill sections, but should not effect the game in any other way.

That's it, cheers!

Hotfix V1.4.5

We got another small patch for you, fixing some of the remaining issues. As far as we know, this puts the game into a solid state again (well... apart from what is noted below) and we can continue with improving more aspects and tweaking.

Version 1.4.5 Changelog

  • Fixed riders who are alone in the peloton not getting the opportunity to reorder
  • Fixed specific situation where the game through an "Invalid Stance" error
  • Fixed being able to set the number of teams to zero in single race setup
  • Fixed momentum preview missing when rendered on the current peloton target node

Note: We're currently investigating why on specific Mac hardware, starting any race results in a game crash. Due to this happening on a game engine level, it is very tricky to work out what is causing this. We will be flying blind in fixing this as there is direct way to debug it. We have contact with some individuals who get this type of crash and will be iterating to figure out what in the rendering pipeline causes this malfunction.

Cheers!
