The Darkest Tales Steam Deck Compatibility Update

Hello friends!

We've been getting a lot of questions regarding Steam Deck Compatibility for our game. And the answer is finally here!

We've just got the notice from Valve's testing team, and now we're ready to officially announce that our game is fully functional on Steam Deck!

Hotfix for patch 1.05 is live!

Hello friends!

Thank you for your patience while waiting for a hotfix of the Dragon fight at the end of the game!

Patch 1.05 is live!

Hello friends! Another patch's going live today!

In this one, we've started to bring in some changes that will help make the game feel a lot more intuitive and responsive! Some of those changes will be implemented step by step. We've decided to do so to understand if we're moving in the right direction with those updates. So if you have any thoughts about these particular changes, or you have any other feedback you would like to share with us, feel free to post a review or contact us in any of our socials!

Alright, without further ado, here's the list of changes:

  1. Heavy Charged Attack Mini-game (fix 1 of the 2 planned). We've adjusted the timing to release the attack button during the skill unlock mini-game: now the player have a much larger window to release the button before getting killed by the enemy. The second part of the fix will add more visual feedbacks to that scene and make it more intuitive for the player.
  2. Retroactive fix for players who got stuck in the fight with White Hook on the pirate ship (previous fixes made it so that new players won't get themselves trapped, retroactive fix will free those, who are already stuck).
  3. We've enhanced the visibility of the signs on The Selfishness level. Now, players will know exactly where they're supposed to go. When active, signs will display a glowing symbol, a glowing arrow, and the Genie's trail from the arrow towards the direction he wants you to go, to fulfill his wishes.
  4. We've also made some adjustments to the enemies' hitboxes. Now, Teddy won't get as many hits while jumping around the enemies, at the same time, all of his attacks will land the same way they did before. Hence, hitting the enemy will feel the same, while contact damage will get much more forgiving, so you won't get hurt by the touch of wolf's tail with the pixel of Teddy's boot.
  5. Players can now skip cutscenes by holding the skip button and will not be forced to press it multiple times.

A couple of updates for the 1.04 patch! Live now!

Hello everyone!

New day, new update! In this one, we've addressed a couple of issues that were found during our internal testing of the previous version of the game. We've taken a look at some problems you guys have encountered, and we've already came up with the fixes!

Here's a small list of changes for The Darkest Tales v1.04:

  • Added a retroactive fix for the players who found themselves stuck after dying at the same time as Peter Pan (this was already fixed for a new player, but the retroactive fix will set players who were already stuck free).
  • Fixed the softlock that could occur during the King Arthur's trials.
  • Fixed situational game crashes if you pause the game during the Peter Pan's bossfight.

Happy Halloween! Patch 1.03 is out right now!

Hello, guys!

We've been working throughout the week on fixing all the major issues and complaints you guys have shared with us, and we're ready to share with you the list of changes for The Darkest Tales v1.03!

Here's what has been changed in this patch:

  1. Solved an issue where players would lock themselves in the Peter Pan's room after backtracking.
  2. Fixed a bug caused by simultaneous death of Teddy and Peter Pan in the fight at the end of The Selfishness.
  3. Fixed an infamous bug in a fight with a mini-boss on The Madness level, where you would get punched right into the backrooms (sorry, speedrunners, this skip had to go).
  4. Fixed a bug in the mirrors fight of The Arrogance, where you could skip the entire fight and spawn the next enemy of the stage, while being stuck in textures (one less skip for speedruns, but this one had to go as well).
  5. Solved an issue on the same level, where sudden interruption of the cutscene would break the fight with The Dragon.
  6. An issue with the checkpoint in the same fight has been fixed as well.
  7. Fixed the bug where you could skip this entire fight all together.
  8. Fixed the broken achievement – “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly Duckling”.
  9. Steam Cloud saves are now on!
  10. Made some more adjustments to the Giantess chase scene, and yes, we've slowed camera movement down a bit.
  11. Added some changes for Chinese, Korean, and Japanese localizations of the game.
  12. Fixed invisible wall problems upon revisiting The Madness.
  13. Added V-Sync feature for low quality settings. Thank you Mystechry for the report!

And that's about it! We're still in the process of tuning the game, so thank you all for the feedback and bug reports, it helps a lot!

The Darkest Tales v1.02 patch notes.

Hello, friends!

We've seen you guys struggle with some major issues with softlocking in certain areas, this patch is dedicated to fix those errors, as well as add some of the most requested Quality of Life changes.

Here's the list of changes for the Patch 1.02:

  • We've fixed the bug in The Greed level, where you could skip an area where you have to find a bow for the further progression in the game.
  • Same issue on The Selfishness level, where you could skip the ability to fly and thus lock yourself in the White Hook boss area.
  • Fixed an issue, where you could lock yourself in the Peter Pan boss fight without access to the fighting area itself.
  • We've made some adjustments to the chase from the Giantess in The Greed, right now it should be more apparent for the players which way to go.
  • Fixed some dash problems in The Gullible, specifically on the King Jack's plant.


We're also aware of some reported issues with our Asian localizations, and are currently looking into it. Sorry for your troubles! O7L

Also, if you're still stuck in some areas because of the softlocks, check out our Steam discussion board to find the ways to escape it. Fixes in the patch won't let that happen again, but you might need to change your checkpoint manually through the save file manipulation.
