Dev Talk #1



Hey everyone,

Nearly a month has passed since the EA's release.
Since then, I've been gathering much feedback and was already working on several smaller patches.

Until the end of the month, I'll try to push out another update which should further improve Chapter 1. The main focus lies on improving the earlier parts this time, especially the battle with the first Dream Demon and several UI aspects.

Starting December, I'll be focusing on working on Chapter 2, which should be finished around April 2020.


To address some feedback:
-I'm aware that one of the main concerns about the game is that the text-gameplay ration is a tad bit off.
It's not easy to find a healthy balance, as there are many storylines to introduce and setting the plot in motion. Nevertheless, I'll keep this in mind while working on future updates, trying to fill in more (inter)action and less walls of text.

-Also, the fight system appears to be very confusing at first, as the first battle shows an arrow key and tells you to press SPACE/A which looks wrong in a way.



Right now I'm trying to make it more clear what to do, but I'm not finished yet.

1.0.8.0 Patchnotes



Another update, this time it brings some more content for the later half of the first chapter.
Previously, there was only one real battle after entering the Dream Machine, but this has now changed.

Note: Old savefiles might not be compatible, as some new values have been added.

Added new Achievement: "Die Geister die ich rief"

Overworld


-Add some Fireflies at evening/night to Eleno
-Added two battle encounters in Lonely Sand.
-Added three battle encounters in Mansion Kaltstein
-Added two new rooms to Mansion Kaltstein
-Chandeliers collider fixed, they will no longer randomly drop the player.

Battle


-All Demon enemies post-Eleno have their HP Bar hidden.
They can be revealed by Montgomery's "Moley Notes" skill.
-Johanna's jump attack sound no longer uses the enemies pitch value.
-Added 4 new enemies, which can be encountered in Lonely Sand and Kaltstein.
-Aiming skills (Cannon Shot, Montys new skill) have now more distance indicators, making it slightly easier to aim.

Montgomery
-His tattle skill now adds a debuff to enemies, revealing invisible units and HP bars.
Also stores the HP bar info into the savefile.
-Inflicting a debuff to an enemy (Chili, Revealed) now gives Montgomery 1 ALP point.
-Gained a new skill "Hat Throw":
Can be aimed like the robot cannon, deals 1 damage to up to 3 targets in a straight line.
-Gained a new skill "Hunter's Requiem":
Summons 3 spooky souls which target 3 random enemies, dealing 3 damage each. Costs 5 ALP.

Dream Familiars like Montgomery also gains Alp for each HP point he loses.

Hey everyone,

I hop you enjoyed the game's first chapter so far.
Quite some stuff has changed since release, mostly smaller bugfixes and balance improvements.

Patchnotes (1.0.7.0 to 1.0.7.4)



System


-Replaced Montgomery's typewriter effect.
The old one is still kept ingame for another purpose in the future.
-[Enter] can now also be used for jumping/confirming text in addition to [space].
-Added Options Menu, so people can now adjust sound volume.
-Heavily optimized the Dream Machine's animation, which should prevent the softlock bug now.
-Overall file size went down by 800 mb (from 3.2 GB to 2.4 GB).
-Many typo fixes.

Overworld


-Added Dark Shade to Luka's dance area in Eleno, to signify Gri don't like sunlight.
-Stormrats can now be randomly encountered in the overworld.

-Finding the Crystal in Kaltstein is a bit easier (blinks more often)
-Eating the cookie now actually increases Max HP.
-Removed "Door locked" message for William's and Erika's Room at evening (since it can still be opened)
-Fixed Helga not being talkable to after talking with Charla.

Battle


-Turtoise Buff now increases physical defense by 1 while the buff is active.
Affects Wuselrat + Stormrat currently.

Wuselrat:
-HP decreased by 1 (4 -> 3)
Stormrat:
-HP decreased by 2 (6 -> 3)

Woyzeck:
-You can actually lose against him now.
-Breath fire: React time from 0.2 to 0.4 seconds (should be way easier to block/dodge).

Johanna:
-Jump attack deals 1 damage even if no action command was hit (both still need to be hit for 2 damage).

William:
-Provides 1 Action Point now (so you can attack two times in Wuselwiese area now).

Mr.Foxxie:
-HP decreased by 3 (13 -> 10)


Right now I'm working on a small content update, improving the amount of time you'll spend in Kaltstein by adding some encounters and rooms.
Current ETA for this patch is ~22. November, hopefully earlier.

After this, the main focus will be the UI and the content for Chapter 2.
