Patch v8.1.7 Live Now!

The Elder Scrolls Online: Firesong & Update 36 Preview

Delve into the mysteries of the druids and get an early look at the final phase of the Legacy of the Bretons year-long adventure.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Firesong

Arriving November 1 on PC/Mac and Stadia, and November 15 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, The Elder Scrolls Online: Firesong will continue and expand upon the ongoing Legacy of the Bretons saga and provide bonus quests concluding the year-long adventure. This story DLC allows you to explore the island of Galen, dive deep into the culture and histories of Tamriel’s druids, and bring an end to a larger narrative that began back in February with the Ascending Tide dungeon DLC and continued throughout all of 2022.

Explore the Home of the Druids

In Firesong, you can explore Galen, one of the four islands of the Systres Archipelago. Abundant and fertile, this isolated isle northwest of High Isle has long served the druid circles of the Systres. Galen features overgrown forests, inhospitable jungles, snaking lava rivers, woodland spirits, and creatures unique to this part of Tamriel. It’s not only the druids who call this island home, however, as House Mornard and their southern port city of Vastyr provides a lone bastion of civilization (at least as far the Bretons of High Isle see it) among the untamed wilds.

Galen concept art

While you explore and dive deep into lore of the druids and Galen, you’ll encounter no shortage of challenges, including new world bosses, delves, volcanic vents, and standalone quests, too. A whole new island of adventure awaits!

A War Among Circles

Despite its shared legacy as a home to all druids, Galen’s people find themselves mired in conflict. The Firesong Circle (first encountered within the Lost Depths DLC) have attacked their fellow Stonelore and Eldertide druids, while House Mornard simultaneously suffers relentless raids from Sea Elf pirates. In the face of these two growing threats, you must defend the people of Galen, investigate the motives behind these attacks, and put a stop to them before their chaos can spread to the rest of the Systres.

New enemies, challenges, and allies await

Save the Systres (and Tamriel)

While Firesong features a standalone story, should you complete the main questlines for both this DLC and the High Isle Chapter, you’ll unlock additional bonus quests that bring the Legacy of the Bretons year-long saga to its conclusion. Throughout your journeys in Galen, you will piece together the events of all of 2022’s DLC and Chapter content to finally uncover and confront the Ascendant Lord himself. Do not fear, for you’ll be joined by familiar and new allies in this final adventure that will take you deep into the very heart of the volcanic isle of Y’ffelon!

Conclude your Legacy of the Bretons adventure

New Patron Deck

Also arriving as part of the Firesong DLC is the newest Tales of Tribute patron—the Druid King! This all-new patron rewards you for achieving hefty combos with their deck, and the order by which you play your cards is vital to ensure you get the best possible result.

The Druid King Patron

You’ll unlock fragments of the Druid King Patron deck by completing a wide range of activities within Galen, but note that to the unlock the ability to play Tales of Tribute (and your new patron) you’ll need access to the High Isle Chapter, too.

Update 36

Releasing alongside Firesong, the Update 36 base-game patch will bring balance changes, bug fixes, and features completely free for all of ESO’s players! These additions include a tool that allows you to place target markers on enemies, a text-to-speech accessibility option, the ability to hide class pets in towns (no more bears crowding crafting stations!), and a number of changes to make it easier to share and visit homes.

These Housing improvements include the ability to create chat links to your homes, improved visibility in whose house you're visiting as well as how many people are present in a home, the ability to see the list of furnishings in a home that you are visiting, and improved placement alignment for hundreds of furnishings that commonly hang on walls—phew!

Coming to the PTS!

If you’d like to experience Firesong and Update 36’s new content and improvements early, you can help us improve the release AND get a hands-on look at everything by logging into the Public Test Server starting Monday, September 19! To play on the PTS, enable the playtesting build from the Settings menu within the PC/Mac ESO launcher by toggling the “Show Public Test Environment” option. Then, you will be able to download and access the test environment once it is live. Be sure to leave feedback and report any bugs you come across by typing “/feedback” or “/bug” in chat.

The isle you and your party have landed upon is home to all manner of deadly beasts. Additionally, within the depths of the enormous undersea complex, the lost souls of sailors protect an ancient secret.

The dead protect the deep

Together, you and your allies can uncover the mysteries of Graven Deep, put a stop to the storms that plague the sailors of the Abecean Sea, and discover new lore surrounding the legendary Druid King and his journey to the Systres Archipelago. You can learn more about this delve into the deep in our recent preview blog.

Earthen Root Enclave

Once a sanctuary for all the druids of the Systres, Earthen Root Enclave has come under attack from the vicious Firesong Circle. Learn more about the Archipelago’s unique druid factions as you contend with Firesong warriors, powerful constructs, and even corrupted spirits that seek to plunder the sacred haven.

Fight to defend Earthen Root Enclave

You and your party must help Druid Laurel defend the enclave from the marauders, protect the site’s most revered relics, and confront a new danger that threatens to bring ash and ruin to Tamriel. Learn more about Earthen Root Enclave, its setting, and challenges in our preview blog.

By completing both dungeons in Normal, Veteran, and Hard Mode difficulties, you can uncover unique challenges and rewards (including item sets and collectibles) specific to this DLC. Get Creative Online & Win In-Game Prizes with the ESO Sea Shanties Contest

Create a special Instagram or TikTok video for the chance to win some in-game goodies via the ESO Sea Shanties Community Contest.

Join the Chorus

From the tumultuous waves of Sea of Ghosts to the idyllic shores of the Summerset Isles, a sailor’s song carries across every corner of the oceans of Tamriel. In celebration of the launch of High Isle and the ongoing Legacy of the Breton adventure, we are thrilled to host our first-ever ESO Sea Shanty community contest on TikTok and Instagram. This choral competition begins on August 17, 2022, and runs until September 9, 2022, with the winners being announced on October 5, 2022.

If you’d like to join the community chorus, tap into your bardic talents and submit an entry the following way:
  • Post a TikTok video or an Instagram reel using an original song created by ZeniMax Online Studios and performed by none other than Trivium lead singer and guitarist Matthew K Heafy.
    • The original song for contest use can be found on the official Elder Scrolls Online Instagram and Bethesda TikTok pages on August 17.
    • A caption must be included featuring the #ESOSeaShanty hashtag for entry tracking purposes.
    • The entire video entry must be no shorter than 15 seconds and no longer than 60 seconds.
    • No other music is permitted.
  • Submit your contest entry using Woobox.

Each entry will be judged by creativity, quality, and adherence to the contest’s rules, as well as the individual creator’s overall interpretation of the contest theme. Note that you don’t need to sing along in your entry (and in the case of some of you, we might prefer it). In fact, you can do whatever you like—lip sync, dance, act out a scene, etc. All entries will be judged under the same criteria, so be creative! Read the official rules here.

Sing (Or Dance) to Win!

The ESO Sea Shanties Contest rewards two Grand Prize winners, one from Instagram and the other from TikTok. Each will receive the following prizes for their efforts:
  • 21,000 crowns to spend in the ESO Crown Store
  • 1 in-game house of the winner’s choice (includes previous limited-time offers)
  • 3 Sunken Trove Crown Crates
  • 1 copy of The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle Digital Collector’s Edition
  • 3 Music Boxes of the winner’s choice (includes previous limited-time offers)

In addition, we will recognize four runners-up, two from Instagram and the other two from TikTok, who will receive the following goodies:
  • 5,500 crowns to spend in the ESO Crown Store
  • 1 copy of The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle Digital Collector’s Edition
  • 1 Music Box of the winner’s choice (includes previous limited-time offers)

After the contest winners are chosen by our panel of judges, we will send a direct message to these creators through either TikTok or Instagram or will reach out to the email address provided via the Woobox entry form.

We can’t wait to see what creative clips the #ESOFam produces in the coming weeks. If you have any further questions regarding contest rules or entry submission, be sure to hit us up on TwitterInstagram, and Facebook—good luck!
