Hello dear Ghost Hunter community,

We are happy to share with you today the latest developments for the PC and PS5 versions of "The Ghost - Task of the Ghost Hunters". Today a new test version went live for internal testing, which includes some exciting new features!

New Features:



  1. Retro PC Integration: In addition to the features mentioned in the last progress blog, we have added an old retro PC that integrates multiple systems:

    • New Shop: In the shop you can buy various items that are available. Purchasing an item depends on two factors: you must have reached the corresponding level and have enough money.
    • Job Offers: New jobs can be accepted via the Retro PC. The available job offers depend on various factors. In multiplayer mode, more job offers are available to you, and the more players there are, the more job offers are offered. Some jobs require a certain number of players to complete the level.
    • Equipment management: Here you can select the equipment you want to take with you on the next mission.
    • Player system: You can see and manage all players for future COOP missions.


Improvements and bug fixes:
We continue to do everything we can to improve the gaming experience and fix existing bugs. The performance optimizations and fingerprint features from the last update are also included in this new test version and have been further refined.

Hello dear ghost hunter community,

It's been a while since we last heard from you. Today we are happy to share some exciting news and progress from the development of The Ghost - Task of the Ghost Hunters.

Extensive backend developments


Over the last few months we have been working hard on the further development of our backend to significantly improve the game's network functionalities. These adjustments were necessary to ensure a smooth and stable gaming experience, especially for our multiplayer modes. With the new backend we are now able to support an even larger number of players simultaneously and minimize latency. This ensures that you can fully concentrate on ghost hunting without being distracted by technical issues.

New textures for UV detection


Another highlight of our latest development phase are the 19 new textures that were created specifically for UV detection in the game. These textures provide improved visuals and help to further deepen the immersive gaming experience. The new textures are not only visually appealing, but also offer increased functionality to assist you in your ghost hunting.

Internal testing and outlook


Before these new features are integrated into the game, extensive internal testing is still pending. We want to make sure that everything works smoothly and offers you the best possible gaming experience. Once the testing is complete, we will release the new updates in one of the upcoming versions of the game.

We would like to give you an insight into our current development work and technical challenges.

New backpack system:



We are currently working on an improved backpack system that will allow players to carry multiple and different items. This is particularly beneficial in larger levels as players can act more flexibly.

Technical challenges in co-op mode:



Another important project is the development of a special tutorial for co-op mode. Specific mechanics relevant to collaboration in multiplayer mode are explained here. We work hard to ensure a seamless and informative gaming experience.

It's time again for a new progress blog for "The Ghost - Task of the Ghost Hunters"! We hope you're all excited because we've got some exciting new things in store for you since our last update. Let's take a look:

New features:



Stationary base in tutorial: We have added a long-awaited feature - a stationary base in tutorial! After spawning, you will now land in your base, which serves as your central hub. Here you can prepare, collect resources and monitor the level later. The base is a safe place from which you can tackle your missions.

Freedom to explore in the tutorial: From now on you have the opportunity to leave the house in the tutorial! This expansion of your possibilities opens up completely new perspectives for your approach. Use this chance to explore the surroundings, discover new secrets and prepare yourself even better for your tasks. But remember that leaving the property is still not permitted to ensure your safety.

Working on mobile surveillance camera:

We are in the process of implementing a mobile surveillance camera! Soon you will be able to monitor the level directly from your base. This feature will greatly expand your tactical options and help you make ghost hunting more effective.

Improvements and bug fixes:



Performance Optimizations: We've been working hard on performance and are happy to announce that the gaming experience is now even smoother! Stability has been improved, the frame rate is more stable and loading times have been reduced. We hope that these improvements provide you with an even more enjoyable gaming experience.

Removal of old assets: To further optimize the gaming experience and make room for new content, we have removed some old assets. This allows us to focus on quality content and continually improve the game.

We are pleased to present you our monthly progress report. Here are the latest developments:

Textures:


During the month we added a whopping 215 new textures for keyboards and future gamepads. These textures have been carefully designed to enhance the game's visual appearance and provide an even more immersive gaming experience.

Modeling:


Our team has been working hard on developing new models that will be used in the upcoming levels. These models are crucial to expanding the game world and offering players new challenges and adventures.

Programming:


Another focus was on programming a special perception technique for the mind. This technique allows the mind to better understand its surroundings and make smarter decisions. This makes the gaming experience even more dynamic and challenging.

Preview of future updates:


Let's look into the future! The next updates will not only contain the new textures, but also the full implementation of the spirit perception technique after a successful QA test, the functionality of the EMF Reader and a major expansion of the tutorial. We're working hard to bring these features to you as quickly as possible.

Other plans of the game:


In addition to the improvements mentioned, we plan to introduce comprehensive controller support, expand the main menu with new features and options, and implement cloud support to seamlessly sync your game progress across different platforms.

Hello ghost hunters,

Today we want to give you more insight into our development progress. We currently have several construction sites that we want to work on. We will go into the following details in the following progress blog:

  1. New objects for various new levels (small description and pictures).
  2. Revised menu
  3. Gameplay and spirit
  4. The in-game tutorial
  5. The game character

New objects for various new levels (small description and pictures).


In the following images you can see new objects used for the Gas Station level. Please note that the objects are still untextured:

(Here you can see a shelf for the sales area of the gas station. The shelf is not yet final and we will definitely continue to work on it. This shelf will be placed on the wall.)


(Here you can see a shelf with a different variation. This shelf is best placed in the middle of the sales room as it has space to put something on both sides. This shelf is also still under construction.)


In the following images you can see new objects used for the subway station level. The new objects are not yet textured.

The following images are general objects that we have not yet assigned to a level, the objects are untextured:

(An elevator for a new level for any house. This is a simple elevator, for a building with three floors. The elevator will be placed in an elevator shaft later.)

(A round elevator for any building. This is a glass elevator.)


The elevator consists of the elevator box with a control panel for floor selection and is equipped with light. Other different elevators are planned.

At the end of this section we would like to emphasize that the objects are not yet final and therefore small changes can be made.
In a later article, once we have placed the new objects in the levels, we will compile new images into a blog,

Revised menu


We have developed a new, revised menu concept. The menu concept is only for the options area. There are now three categories:

  1. Graphics
  2. Key assignment
  3. Audio

Gameplay and Spirit


In addition to the modeling tasks, which take a lot of time, the gameplay and mind activities take a lot of work. We just used the tutorial level as a test level for the ghost. We are currently working on having the ghost display various pieces of evidence on the player's devices. We are currently making good progress in this work, but it will still take some time before we can mark it as final in terms of gameplay and spirit.

The in-game tutorial


In the level tutorial we also have some construction sites. On the one hand, some objects have to be modified and re-textured. In addition to the objects, dialogues are also displayed for the player, which explains the basic controls of the game to the player.

The character


Since we planned to finalize the CO-OP this year, we need several visual characters. This activity currently takes up the most time in the entire game. Not only does programming the visual character take a lot of time, but every single animation you need also takes a lot of time.

We hope that we were able to give you a little more insight with the pictures about the new objects as well as other details. With the next update we want to wait until all bugs have been fixed and new features can become final.
