Alpha 8.13 - Bug update

Hi Everyone,

Another bug update this week with some more multithreading improvements, animal zone changes and a fix for an issue with bee hives.

We'll be taking a break next week due to some conflict with our day jobs but hope to have another update out soon!

Alpha 8.12 - Bug fixes for game freezing, shepherding and frozen Kin and animals

Hi Everyone,

We've made some big pathfinding performance improvements in order to improve issues with the game freezing, unresponsive Kin and animals as well as some problems with animals not being shepherded.

As always when making big changes we hope that this fixes and improves the problem but there is always the chance that this will require further work so please do let us know if you continue to experience any problems.

Alpha 8.11 - Performance improvements, animals and bug fixes

Hi Everyone,

Lots of improvements in this week’s update! For those of you playing in larger worlds or with a lot of things happening in a small world you should see a big performance improvement.

The loading speed has been improved and performance optimisations have been made so that unimportant items now don’t exist visually unless you’re close to them and items like the trees load as you move the camera which makes everything run a lot more smoothly.

The Kin toggle button has now been changed so you can press it once to select one Kin and press the E button to cycle through them so you can now see their name and basic stats as you view each one.

Animal behaviour has now changed so they don’t cluster on top of each other in a fenced area and lots of general bug fixes have also been made.

Alpha 8.10 - Fruit trees, Bugs and Duck Eggs

Hi Everyone,

Another bug update with a few changes to the game as well. A big thank you to everyone sending through their log files, they have been a big help in identifying and fixing these bugs!

We've fixed an issue with Kin not working any longer after cancelling work, sugarcane disappearing and bee hives sticking to hands.

We've also made a few changes - fruit trees now regrow fruit! Just be sure to set your logger for the zone to none so they won't chop down the trees before the fruit grows again.

We have been made aware of an issue with gates but are unable to re-create the issue and don't have any log files/save games with this issue. If you're still having issues with gates please consider sending through your log files.

Duck eggs are also now collected as 'eggs' so either egg can be used in the existing recipes.

* Fixed an issue with Kin not working anymore after cancelling work
* Fixed an issue with Sugarcane disappearing while growing
* Fixed an issue with Kin getting bee hives stuck to their Hand permanently
* Fixed an issue with harvested fruit trees allowing harvest again with no fruit

* Duck Eggs can now be fried in the cooking pot (same as chicken eggs)
* Reduced automatic spacing in farm zones from 10 blocks to 5 for Trees
* Fruit Trees in Farm Zones will be auto-harvest when fruit regrows if Logger is set to None

Alpha 8.9 - Shepherding, freeze and logging bug fixes

Hi Everyone,

Another bug update today with a focus on game freeze issues, kin getting stuck while logging and kin no longer shepherding to a zone.


We’ve made quite a few improvements but we may need to make more before the issue is completely resolved so please let us know if you continue to experience any problems.


A big thank you to everyone that sent in a log file and a save game, all the extra data we can get makes it so much faster to fix the problem. We really appreciate it!

Alpha 8.8 - Seed and Animal adjustments plus some bug fixes

Hi Everyone,

Small update for bug fixes today plus some adjustments to seeds and animal generation.

We know that the current build of the game isn’t very balanced in terms of seeds, wild crops and animal generation and we have plans to add difficulty levels that the player can control but… this will take time. In the meantime we have adjusted it so there is 1 of every farm animal in the world on start up and 5 of every seed type which should provide a temporary solution for those of you unable to find wild animals and crops.

Bug fixes for this update include screen resolution and fullscreen options now apply and save plus a fix for some UI components not appearing on Linux.

We will begin work on the issues with Kin freezing and not doing work and getting trapped in trees (plus others) tomorrow.

Big update for bug fixes today. If you were experiencing issues with lagging/slow down with work allocation etc then you should se an improvement after this update.



First person mode has been disabled for the time being as there is a bug associated with exiting first person mode.

Alpha 8.6 - Bug fixes for crop zones

Hi Everyone,

A new update with some bug fixes is now live!

This update should fix the issue with crop zones becoming non-responsive after being selected/harvested.

There is also some spelling errors that have been corrected and the night darkness as well as the length of the day/night cycle has been adjusted.

Thank you to everyone sending through your log reports they help so much!

There is still a lot left to fix but we’ll continue to work through them as quickly as we can.

Alpha 8.5 - Multi-threading code improvements to fix freeze and crash issue

Hi Everyone,

A new update is now out to potentially fix the freeze and crash issue.

This issue is caused by our multi-threading code which unfortunately is hard to test. We’ve re written the code and hope that this will fix the issue but we may need to make more changes before it is completely resolved. Thank you for bearing with us as we continue working on this issue.

If anyone is still experiencing issues after this update with either freezing or crashing please let us know!

Update for Mac Users - The monochrome bug fix update

Hi Everyone,

There is a new update out that has a bug fix for Mac Users only. The bug with the game appearing in monochrome should now be fixed.

For those of you that are curious there was an issue with Unity's integration with the Apple Metal API. We have reverted The Kindred back to OpenGL again (until Unity solves this problem) so this issue should now be fixed for all of you playing on Mac.

However... if you're still experiencing issues please let us know!
