The Steam stable branch has also been updated to Alpha 8.4

This update includes bug fixes and some temporary fixes for the freeze and crash issue. We’ve located the source of the problem but unfortunately it will take some thought to figure out a permanent solution but finding the source of the problem is half the work done which is great news.

We’ll be back at work on a fix for this tomorrow but in the meantime wanted everyone to be able to access the newest possible version.

The Steam stable branch has now been updated to Alpha 8.3

This update will break your save games, but you can roll back to a previous version of the game if you would like to continue with your old game. This update mainly includes a whole lot of fixes for various issues everyone has reported and also changes the amount of snow that will appear in each world.

The next update will have more content added and will be focusing on health and disease.

Alpha 7.3 is now Live! Predators and New Fences

Hi Everyone,

The Steam stable branch has now been updated to Alpha 7.3!

This update includes the addition of our first predator - the fox.

There are also now three types of fences to protect your farms from the fox - the basic white wooden fence, a metal fence and a powered electric fence.

We’ve made lots of performance improvements and added a new option that gives you the option to reduce the object fade distance to improve performance - the less displayed in the distance the better the game will run.

The F key also now cycles through an isometric camera view as well as the existing first camera mode. We’re trialing the isometric camera for better game performance and ease of use. Feedback is always appreciated.

NEW CONTENT



Research
All high level technology is now unlocked through research. Research is a new skill that can be ticked in the work allocation menu and the research desk is crafted through the metalworking desk.

The easy version of the game will still give you bonus materials on start up but you will need to research in order to craft more. The researcher will give other tasks a priority over research so will be more efficient if this is their only job.

Research is time based, the more time that lapses, the more that will be unlocked. Just click the research desk, select the category and press the ok button.

Architect
The Architect desk is a new tool that can be unlocked through the research desk.

The architect can create buildings that serve a function, eg nuclear power plant. At the moment any Kin with crafting ticked in the work allocation screen will be able to use the architect desk.

More Power Options
Coal, Nuclear, Solar and Hydro Power are now all possible!

We’ll be putting out a more detailed guide on all of the power options in the coming weeks but for now trial and error should show you the pros and cons of each power type. You will need to unlock the technology through research. If you click on the power plant you now have the option to start and stop your power stations to conserve fuel.

Geo Extractor
In order to mine uranium we have added the geo-extractor machine which extracts uranium from stone. The uranium can then be used to fuel the nuclear power plant.

Alpha 5.1 is now Live! [Meals and Kitchens]

Hi Everyone,

The Steam stable branch has now been updated to Alpha 5.1 with an update that includes meals and kitchens.

As always, a big thank you to everyone playing the game and sending through your bug reports!

The biggest change in this update is the move away from the nV food system which has now been replaced with a meals based system. The Kin consume 1 meal each morning and the counter in the top left hand side gives a run down of how many meals you have in inventory. They will consume the highest grade of food available and sit at a table if there is one available.

The meal options are raw, basic and gourmet meals. In the future there will be special meals that will be more difficult to cook and will give the Kin special skills/advantages for a limited time.

The better the meal, the better their overall nutrition. The better their eating environment eg, table and chair the better the nutrition rating. eg, eating a gourmet meal on the ground is the same as eating a basic meal at a table.

The nutrition ratings play into fatigue at the moment but will have more meaning in the coming updates as we tie them to skills and abilities. For example in the future a level 1 farmer will be a lot more different than a level 10 farmer.

This update also includes 5 modular kitchen styles, 2 new types of electricity transmitters for wider coverage and the Kin now physically go to the same location when they begin a relationship and heart particles will appear.

To view the kitchen styles you can see them under the crafting bench menu toward the bottom or filter the search with the word kitchen.

Electricity transmitters can be crafted through the metalworking bench.

New Update: Work Locations, Moving Tombstones and Animals

Hi Everyone,

We have a new update that is primarily a lot of bug fixes with some improvements suggested from our unstable branch testers.

Thanks again to everyone testing the game and sending through your feedback!

The biggest changes are that Kin now perform the work closest to them. For example if you have 3 crops being planted and you wanted to move your assigned farmer from one side of the map to the other they will walk to that location and perform the work closest to that point.

You can now manually move tombstones when you're in the 'build' menu which means you can create your own cemeteries after the Kin pass away.

Finally, animals now age! All of the little chicks, calves and lambs are now able to grow up on your farms.
