The Choreographist - The Game That Almost Was
The newest, latest game by Puuba and Akupara is here! It's got Rhythm. It's got Action. It's a Fighter. It's... The Choreographist!
[previewyoutube="YCwlw846PjY;full"]
The What?!
Crim, a brash and nomadic fiend slayer, has no time for music, dance, or art. That is, until she offends the wrong necromancer raising the roofs of the undead.
Now, cursed with the insatiable need to dance, Crim and her jubilant goblin partner Gleam will have to use all of their newly found moves to slay their way through the crowds of monsters across the stereophonic lands.
A music-driven rhythm brawler that demands timing, speed, and a clever mind in the heat of battle to slay your enemies before time runs out.
Features List
A thoughtful, combat-driven music game that rewards strategy as much as musical skill
Rearrange enemies on a puzzle-like combat grid, allowing you to create your own high-speed musical solutions
Follow intertwining personal tales into a musical battlefield across a land lost to a groovin' beat
Multiple game play modes, including Story Mode, Freeplay, Roguelike, Pure Music, Puzzles, and even Daily Challenges
Twelve abilities to unlock, with a host of upgrades, special moves, and advanced strategic mechanics
Hand-choreographed songs by a whole Two artists you're sure to know and love
UGC support for music from this game right here!
Buuut... It's Totally Incomplete...
Alas, The Choreographist was a beautiful idea in search of a beautiful someone to fund it. And didn't. As such, this game is being released AS-IS and incomplete.
At the moment, the game is gameplay-feature-complete, taking days to beat, and featuring all enemy and (nearly 20!) boss behaviors and all game modes (Story Mode, Freeplay, Roguelike, Pure, Puzzles, Daily). However, it only has about 10% of its art complete. Oh, and only three songs to play (placeholding for fifty), despite it being a rhythm game.
On the bright side, there's lots of dev commentary to help you through!
The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor Score is live!
Hey, dancers!
As part of Steam's update to soundtracks, we're releasing the Metronomicon Score for the first time ever to you! From low-key menu music to high octane boss cutscenes, this is the music that plays during the game, all of which was composed into toe-tapping, finger-snapping glory by electronic music artist J-Punch!
This release compliments the soundtrack of the game's comprehensive track library that you can pick up right here on Steam!
Let us know what your favorite track is in the comments and stay cool! -Buddy
WEINER 3! The Speedrun Tournament is Here!
Go really fast, or don't go at all...
Strap on Yo' Dancin' Shoes!
Every day this week, we'll be kicking off our second Metronomicon Speedrun Tournament!
Players will go head-to-head in a series of ten song playlists. They'll build their own parties and pit them against each other, all to the commentary (and mockery) of the game's dev team.
Not only musical prowess, but deeply thought strategy will win the day!
Everyone in attendance at each match will be entered into a raffle for one Steam Key for a variety of Puuba and Metronomicon stuffs. The tournament winners will get a dope custom printed Metronomicon manual!
One of a kind, just designed, and zazzy as all heck.
I am, personally, super excited for this, and have NO idea what to expect. Speed. Strats. Tricks. Shenanigans.

Looking For Competitors - Speedrun Tournament!!
Because racing is fun!
Wanna Play a Game?
To celebrate the release of "Slay The Dance Floor", I'd like to propose a friendly competition. How about a head-to-head speedrun tournament?
Build your fastest team, and outfit them with your best gear and moves. Then, face off against another competitor to race to the finish, live on Twitch.
Each match will be best-of-three in a custom ten song playlist. First to complete two playlists wins! However, once you win a match, the heroes you've picked for that team are Knocked Out. So, you'll need to build two teams, evenly matched.
I think this format should be really fun, and stretch the creativity and strategy of the competitors. XD
We're putting together some simple but cool prizes, and the devs will be commentating the whole competition.
Want some more details?
http://www.puuba.com/tourney
We're only looking for eight or so competitors, and schedules will be Waaaay flexible. So, let me know ASAP!
Cheers,
Danny
The End is Coming! (And it's a DLC!)
But, not the end of the fun...
The End of the World Brings With it More Tunes
A single-label challenge pack is here!
First, kick off the end-times by jamming out to Keep It Moving, by Jutty Ranx. These here monsters hit like a truck, and only your sustained combo can weaken them! Can you earn the treasure that bestows the same trait??
With Slay The Dance Floor's new passive abilities, the meta has evolved. What might happen if every enemy always dropped a mess of crystals..? Find out by Beating Pierce Himself to Findlay's Electric Bones!
Lastly, tweak your strats again to Jutty Ranx's Concentrate. This here song dumps debuffs on you like crazy. And they never come off.
Beat the challenge to bring that trait home with you. Maybe there's some use to make of that..?

Expansion Day Is Here!!
The day has come, and our free expansion is here! So much new stuff to play and do, let's get right to the things!
Local Multiplayer support has been added across all game modes!
Story, Freeplay, Sidequests, Arena, Endless, and more..! Every challenge and song has been rebalanced to support two players and has its own separate multiplayer leaderboard.
Some abilities may work slightly different in two-player, and, from what we've seen, different parties thrive!
A Competitive Mode has been combined into co-op in two-player Freeplay Mode!
Compete for lanes to get most kills, most crits, cures, etc to jocky for MVP trophies. Track your records to school your friends.
Endless Mode is now available!
Unlocked by beating the Story Mode boss, battle against an unlimited playlist of songs as the enemies' levels slowly increase, and a variety of mods get stacked against you.
Use and swap through your entire team and all their skills to combat hero knockouts, equipment breaks, and even skill lockouts.
Gain and spend Battle Points to empower your current run, or save them up to unlock permanent cross-mode rewards.
The faster you go, and the more mods that are applied, the more points you'll get. However! Fail to defeat a song's boss before it ends, and your run is over.
Stack more mods early, while the enemies are weaker, to build up battle points. Or! Run, afraid, from modifiers, to get as deep as you can! Two leaderboards exist!
A new (secret!) hero has been added to the game.
Equipped with some totally unique attacks and buffs, he's capable of filling a number of party roles.
A Hint to Unlock: Are there new sidequests around..?
New Hero and Global Passive Abilities have been added, unlockable through Endless Mode.
Usable in both Story and Endless Modes, we've seen these totally change the best-party meta!
The Scoring System is now changed!
Enemy kills are now worth points according to the enemy's Max HP. So, the more aggressive you are, the higher your score can go! Bring that RPG strategy to bear!
Just don't die!
A new cheat code has been added!
Ten-song seeded speed runs! Enter a seed to play a different repeatable playlist each time.
Perfect for another.... WEINER Tournament format..?
Japanese language support has been added.
Lefty-flip guitar note colors are supported.
Support has been added for Logitech G LED colored lighting devices.
Assorted sidequests have been changed or added, as well as rebalanced for two-player.
Story songs beaten after beating the final boss now give additional exp.
Big Pharm's Inspire targetting has been made smarter.
Retribution is now affected by buffs, gear, and elements.
Leech and Slow Field now affect returning enemies, and enemies that have just became focal.
Play-mode triggering cheat codes have been moved to the Teleport Menu, to allow for Single/Multiplayer selection.
Overcast beats are now judged more accurately, in the player's favor.
Consecutive-requirement Secondary Abilities are now more reliable.
Assorted and sundry balance/fixes/tweaks/enhancements to gameplay and menus.
Stuff, stuff, stuff is here!
Just boot up the game, and Steam should magically bring you up to date!
The stuff is finally here!!!

New Mode Reveal! Charity Stream For Cancer!
Because cancer is the butts...
Battle Dance Fiends For Childrens' Cancer!
You wanted to know more about the Slay The Dance Floor expansion, and we've got a cool way to give it to you!
Tomorrow only, August 19th, from 9am to 9pm PST, we're going to be running a twelve hour charity stream for cancer. A variety of Twitch streamers and friends - some of whom you might even know from our Big WIENER Tournament - are going to be streaming and previewing our new mode all day.
Each streamer will have two hours to get as deep into the mode as they can, defeating foes and braving untold mods and curses.
Watch live all day at: http://www.twitch.tv/akuparagames or directly on any of the streamers' channels!
Kick in some cash during the stream, or even now at:
https://tiltify.com/events/the-metronomicon-almost-endless-charity-stream
All cash raised benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
What is Endless Mode?!?
Well, I don't want to spoil everything, but Endless Mode is a new end-game format, unlocked by beating story mode!
Move as quickly as you can through a series of challenging songs, killing all the minibosses as you go. Kill the boss, and the song immediately ends, moving to the next.
However! Between each battle, the team will get saddled with a variety of debilitating mods. Skill lockouts, lost heroes, and more.
And so! Use your entire roster of heroes! Accrue Battle Points which you can spend during the run, to make things easier (or harder)... or save them all up to unlock permanent new hero ability types!
The faster you go and the more mods you have, the greater the rewards!
Jam to song songs, kick in some cash, and kick a cancer in the butt!
